Honestly not sure why people are complaining about service. It's a diner so I go in with the expectation of diner level service. I don't go into a diner thinking that I'm going to be receiving 3 Michelin star services cuz ummm... it's not a 3 Michelin star rated restaurant. I've gotten their good to go and it was good but the food I had dining in was even better! We had Steven as our server and he was amazing!! Checking in on us to make sure that we were happy with the food and he was very accommodating with some of our modifications on our order. I would be happy to get Steven as our server again. Plenty of parking so that you don't have to worry about finding parking at all. That's a huge plus in LA!! It might've been because I came both times at of lunch/dinner times but there was plenty of seating available. I had to wait like 10 minutes but that's nothing on a Saturday afternoon so I didn't mind it at all. The decor is your traditional diner decor and it was so cute!! So reminiscent of the older days and I gotta say that it was amazing to sit there and eat. It felt like going back into the black and white movies! Lol Everyone was very friendly and helpful both times that I've been there. And the prices are good especially during this inflation times. The porrions were huge and they prices were decent. And seeing as how they are only like 15 minutes away... I love Bob's Big Boy for many reasons, one being that it has been a steadfast rock. Bob's Big Boy may be a diner but they are a FUN diner that holds history while serving great diner comfort food. My go to is normally their bacon cheeseburger and fries but this time around, I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. It is a very generous plate but I surprised myself in actually finishing it. Waffle is a right amount of buttery crispy and the chicken was crunchy and moist. Batter is not as seasoned as I would like but it still was enjoyable. Staff is friendly and efficient. Make sure you stop by the front counter for the cute merchandise that hits that nostalgic bone. I have sent postcards and stickers to my friends in the UK and they loved them. read more

Arrived and felt like I went back in time where the service was genuine and the food was so wholesome and filling. Prices were cheaper but the quality was still high. I wish we had a place like this in NorCal. Even though it was dinner, breakfast is served all day as it should because sometimes you want eggs at midnight. I actually ordered the famous chili spaghetti and son the patty melt. Server asked if I wanted onions on my chili which I thought was so sweet but Duh I want the whole onion! Who eats chili without it? So full but had to have dessert to remove all the onion taste in my mouth. Server recommends the hot fudge cake and OMG. Did not disappoint. Jack of all trades, master of none: this is not a knock. You can access all sorts of food 24/7 - that's a gift. Service is fast. The mood - so LA. And full of history. While an item like the Cincinnati chili (chili on spaghetti) is made within the boundaries of LA culinary culture (the chili is more of an LA hot dog and burger chili), the food is good. Bob O' Gold There are very few places left that truly define the word "iconic," but I think even the most fervent hater would have to agree that Bob's Big Boy® (B³) certainly falls into that category. Originating in 1936, B³ was the brainchild of Bob Wian, and at its height of popularity sported nearly 250 restaurants nationwide. Their iconic "Double Decker Bus" burger--later blatantly ripped off by McShitz© as the "Big Mac"--is the stuff of legends and the "must get" item here. Sadly, there are now only four B³ locations left, with this Burbank one and its art deco style receiving historical landmark status. Coming here to eat was on my ever-growing foodie bucket list, as I hadn't dined at a B³ since I was a wee lad and they had a location in San José (on Hillsdale and Ross where the Ike's® is now). The Good: *The Double Decker Bus was everything one wants in a burger and definitely worthy of its status as their signature sandwich. Juicy beef, good bread-to-meat ratio, and just a modicum of toppings and sauce to seal the deal. Maybe the perfect diner-style burger in every sense of the word. *Fries weren't bad either! Crispy, fluffy and generously salted. 'Nuff said. *Pappy Parker's™ Fried Chicken N' Waffles was surprisingly fantastic, as well. We were expecting chicken tenders but instead received actual pieces of bone-in chicken perfectly battered and fried to a crisp. This is the C&W most other restaurants dream to make, but instead, you end up with chicken "fingers" and a waffle-like substance. *Real ice cream shakes with a generous serving. *For the most part, our server was great: friendly, patient and professional. *The location itself is amazing and must be visited just to take a few pics of the iconic Big Boy himself. I adore places like this. *The sell B³ Swag! Of course, I had to get myself a few things. :) *Huge parking lot, which is rare here in SoCal. *True diner open 24/7/365 The Meh: *I wasn't a big fan of their chili spaghetti (aka Cincinnati Chili) as I found it a little boring, but my son loved it, so whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The Ugly: *Service was great until it was time to get the check. It took nearly 20 minutes for us to get the check, pay, and make like sheep and get the flock outta there. The 1950's are still alive dining at Bob's Big Boy on Riverside Drive in Burbank. The iconic original building consists of Streamline Moderne of the 1940's meeting up & coming 1950's Googie style elements.  It anticipates all the architecture of diners & coffee shops for almost the next two decades. "It was designed by renowned architect Wayne McAllister, a leader in Googie architecture that embraced the automobile."  The interior due to wear & tear may have been refurbished several times, but there is still the feeling of being time warped back 70 years. The food, too, reflects being fossilized in a good way to make you feel not being in the first quarter of the 21st century.  That is the reason why I go to this Bob's to experience the "fabulous fifties" when James Dean & Marlon Brando wore butch black leather jackets and showed some hip youthful angst & rebellion.   Fridays are "car nights" where old car aficionados come to show off cars mostly from the 1950's through 1970's in Bob's parking lot so plan on parking some blocks away. Very cool scene where I even saw a pristine AMC Pacer which at the time seemed weird, but now looks normal compared to the style of cars today.  Inside was hectic yet civilized on Friday Car Night. Service is fast & efficient, and the kitchen throws out the food fast.  BLEU CHEESE BURGER Combo:  1) "Bob's® Bleu cheese dressing, bleu cheese crumbles, and bacon carmelized balsamic onions." Couldn't sense the crumbles and definitely didn't have the delicious moldy, funkiness of Maytag blue cheese as well as the bacon seemed missing in action since it was incorporated into the caramelized onions.  I also added good, creamy avocados to the burger.  Aceto Balsamico would not have been used in 1950's America, but I'm not complaining.  2) I asked for French Fries to be extra crispy, and it was honored perfectly. There was also that rare to encounter satisfying earthy, potato Umami meets savory sweet oil scent that rivaled 1960's Mc Donald style fries. Worth going back for.  3) Standard 1950's iceberg lettuce, splinters of carrots, red cabbage, croutons. I got the gummy ranch dressing. My bad since the oil & vinegar would've matched better to the blue cheese burger.  4) Friend shared Onion Rings which had a Japanese Panko bread crumb like extra crunchy coating. Another app worth getting.   1-4a) OK endless ice tea 5) Blueberry Pie: OK flaky pie crust. Blueberry is very sweet overcooked with too much gummy corn starch thickener. Not bad but not good. Maybe a scoop of vanilla ice cream may help.  5a) Horrible coffee weak yet burnt reminded me of the 1950's before the days of "gourmet" coffee. Maybe Bob's should use Peet's Coffee.  Overall, food is 3+, but dining in a classic 1950's time warp is a priceless 5+ which averages out to a 4 star experience. read more

Bob's is a favorite of my family's. I love the vegan patty burger option which I found out is Impossible burger. My wife likes the breakfast options and my kids like the dollar sized pancakes which I had to explain since neither of them has ever seen a silver dollar. Service is good diner service, quick and polite. Going early on a weekend morning, its easy to get seated quickly with plenty of room in the place. Classic location, classic menu. What isn't to like? Well, I guess my kids requiring a photo next to the Bob's statue every visit gets a little long in the tooth, but other than that, we'll keep coming back gladly. :) read more

The veggie options are pretty solid and the vegan burger combo hits the spot as it includes a salad as well as a choice of French fries or fresh fruit. Enjoy Lunch or Dinner day and night with mostly cool room temp weather though you may notice fluctuations from the busier times of day, the front door letting in some of the warm weather. History art, photos and celeb photos sprinkled throughout the walls and tons of natural lighting from the larger spacious windows overlooking the streets. My wife loves their fish and chips. I have not even mentioned how good their burgers are. I still have yet to try their chili spaghetti. My wife says their tortilla soup is surprisingly good. We asked for Onion Rings instead of Fries for $3 up charge. We got fries, but couldn't complain because of her slowness, we ate up the fries and finished our entire meal. She Never checked in w us during meal, just slapped bill on our table at end. We were charged for onion rings, instead of apologizing, she was defensive and said it wasn't her fault, and showed us her order pad, "you see? This joint has been here for ages and is a Burbank classic. I've been here on multiple occasions where I've tried their chili spaghetti, burgers, and more. Bob's always seems to draw a crowd, so it can be busy especially at dinner hours. I opted for the big boy combo which is a double decker cheeseburger with a side of fries and a salad. My food came out fairly quickly and everything tasted fantastic. I loved the red relish sauce with every bite of the burger and I polished my plate off. You can never go wrong coming here. My family and I had a great experience visiting this location for the first time despite the fact that we had to wait for 25 minutes to be seated and it was a Sunday around 5:30 PM. Once we did get seated, the service was great and the food in entire experience was flawless. I was also impressed by the very reasonable prices and generous sizes, especially for the kids meals. Love this place. I haven't been here in years but it was a go to place for our family when I was a kid. This is one of the last true Bog Boys out there and is a landmark. The Big Boy special is filling and delicious as I remember it. Their shakes are made from real ice cream and fruit and are yummy. All three of our orders were incorrect, and when we politely asked for corrections, her responses were rude, dismissive and unprofessional. Friday nights are still classic car night, with lots of neato vintage cars and people with vintage clothes and cool retro personalities. Bob's still offers a Chili Size. Bob's still doesn't put beans in their chili. People hear that, and they rejoice! Bob's still serves Chili Spaghetti, which does this Cincinnati-born heart good. Food is solid and yummy. Service is solid and fun. Atmosphere is solid and old fashioned diner-like. I love how they call your name over the loudspeaker when your table is ready. Such a fun place to be on a Friday night with their classic car cruise in night. There is nothing special about Bob's unless you grew up with Bob's. As a kid Bob's was the place to be. I've been to this location twice already. The first time during Lent and I ordered the veggie burger. For being meatless is was pretty decent. The next visit I had the classic double decker that I craved as a kid with fruit. Who needs fries when your date has his own fries to share with you. Tasted exactly like I remembered. Either your a fan or not a fan. I happen to like Bob's. Don't forget to sprinkle your fries with the table top seasoning. They offer indoor and outdoor eating. From the Beatles booth to scenes of Heat being shot here, walking in makes you feel like you've stepped into something bigger than yourself. But the service is friendly and the photos of famous diners that line the walls make it an exciting place to eat. Our waitress Rachel was super kind and patient with us and gave us a clear understanding of what we would be eating. I got the bacon cheeseburger cooked Medium rare, with a salad & fries. We had chili cheese fries for an appetizer, it needed some salt but still really good to share with everyone. The burger was HUGE and I couldn't resist to use the Bob's fry seasoning for my fries. With ranch of course. Best thing EVER! The ambiance was so cute and comfortable. They were playing 50's music and definitely kept to the 50's theme. The bathrooms were gross and dirty.
