I always come here for two things. Any flavored green tea and their French fries. Food & drinks: I enjoy their tea for what it is worth. It is not the best quality, but it is worth the price. It is around 2-3 dollars per drink not including the toppings. The toppings like boba are good. The French fries are on another level. They offer them however spicy you'd like and the fries are nice and crispy and flavored well. Service: It is more a of take out place, but the people behind the register do their job and no complaints here. Always a favorite because it is cheap and a nice change since most drinks in Arcadia are so expensive. read more

I like to come to this place for the chicken, fries and drinks. Super simple yet delicious. My boyfriend introduced me to this place and I am glad he did. It is somewhere you can go and quickly get your food. The place is clean, easy to find and the staff are nice. Lately, I have been craving slushies. The two I have been ordering are the mango and peach slush with lychee jelly for a few cents more. The portions are actually bigger than I expected. I need a friend with me to finish everything. There are a lot of food options and they all look good so definitely check it out if you are looking for a quick meal. Given the day, it could be pretty crowded or pretty mellow. Either way, the staff attitude remains the same. Parking is in the back where you will see other stores. It is located in a shopping complex. Price wise this place is affordable and it is a place I am craving constantly. read more

I used to always come to tap ex back when I was in high school, but now that I'm a lot older, I stopped hanging out at tea places like this. The reason is because there are just too many little kids around this area. Of course I love kids, but do I want to be around high schoolers who are going through puberty? Not really. I also don't want to be around kids who think smoking a cigarette and wearing bagging pants are cool. Aside from the people that come here, their drinks are fairly cheap. Not as cheap as quickly but cheaper than tea station & Au. I always get their boba milk tea, it tastes exactly like quickly to be honest. Their boba has no taste to it, I prefer boba that is really sweet or has that honey taste. I always get their fried tofu combo. It's not on the menu, but you just tell them you want it as a combo (comes with veggies, egg, and rice). Their fried tofu is BOMB! I love their batter, it's so crispy, crunchy and I always ask for extra spicy. Trust me, the powder they use on it is spicy! I always ask for extra on the side. The tofu always comes with their own sauce which is yummy but super garlicky! My breath smells for days after eating it. Their French fries are also delicious, I definitely recommend this if you just want a snack. They're thin and cooked to perfection (I love thin fries, hate the thick ones). read more

Personally, this is one of my favorite places. I've been coming here for around 10 years. My go to is definitely the green tea with boba and popcorn chicken. It could be nostalgia for me since I've been coming here for so long, but I really do love the drink and snacks here. And like all other boba spots, they have board games so you can mingle and stuff (granted COVID is still around). read more

There are a lot of places to get Boba in Arcadia. I've been here a few times and I think it deserves a 4/5. Overall it is a good place and the service is decent. But what I don't like about it is that it is CASH ONLY and that they are a little slow. Originally they were a B rating. A few months later when I returned they received an A. So kudos to them for that. This TapX is just like the other chains. No special but it is not a bad place to go. Again my main gripe is the CASH Only thing. In this day and age, everyone uses a card so it was a bit of a hassle. Overall 4/5 read more

We went on a rainy day and we saw a huge water bug that fell from the ceiling, next to my friend while we were eating. We let the person at the register know and they didn't care. We use to love this place but we're so disgusted and disappointed never going back. read more

Open late, quick service, tasty snacks, less than 1 mile from my house. Dammit, my diet's ruined! Popcorn chicken's seasoned well and the unagi rice bowl is only 8.99. Most importantly, I don't have to wait 30 mins for a simple sugar laden drink (are you reading this, Honey Boba?). read more

Tapioca express is good for boba, a quick easy dinner, or just a chill spot to catch up with your friends. I recommend the popcorn chicken combo. It comes with a good portion size popcorn chicken, a side of soy sauce boiled eggs, beans sprouts, rice, and your choice of tea either green tea or black tea. Only down side of tapioca express is that it's CASH only. read more

Out of all the locations I have been to that serve Taiwanese popcorn chicken, Tapex serves the best in my honest opinion. It's bite-sized chicken pieces that aren't 50% freaking breading AND it's seasoned like my childhood. When I have that popcorn chicken craving you bet I drive to this somewhat out of my way location just to satisfy it. I've been coming for years, and quality has been pretty consistent. read more

How do you find this place? There's one outside table and it's always occupied by young Asian people smoking. They have a bunch of delicious fried stuff and milk tea of course, and box lunches although I usually dont get those. More often then not I'll get little bits of chicken in my order of fries which makes me question their fryer cleaning policy. It hasn't ever negatively affected me though, besides artery clogging of course. read more

Been coming to this joint since I was a kid. Back in the days where HS AZN Gangs such as WC and Bamboo were still a thing, I recall those hood rats used to hang around this plaza. Since they safety has been great with the City of Arcadia and HS "young thug" gen has died out. This location is supposedly one of two locations owned by the same young entrepreneur. their Milk Teas are outstanding, other places just can't compare in my opinion. However it is more dense on the sweetness and they use cream based dairy to make their tea so they are not as healthy for you in my opinion, but I STILL LOVE IT. This is the OG location that has been operating for over a decade. Definitely still a local gem for youngsters to hangout and chill. Don't skip on the popcorn chicken. DELISH. read more

I had their fried combo and their fried tofu... My fried combo... it was over fried. The chicken were a little hard and it was dark brown crispy. Their "tofu" is not even "tofu custard" so its not those firm tofu.. Their fish ball.. they cut in slice.. instead of frying the whole thing.. so it wasn't good either. My friend order the fried tofu.. it was just okay.. not that great. I guess I will try again to be more accurate whether they can really fry it right or not... Yogurt slush.. perfect.. not too sweet and not too watery.. I like it! read more

When I lived in Monrovia, I used to come to this Tapioca Express for my Boba fix all the time! It used to have a B or C rating, which in eating establishment meant Michelin glory would never be in their future. I never ate their food because of it, but I can't complain about their boba. (I heard their dumplings are to die for, btw.) The inside is very small, and seating is limited any day of the week. I usually get my drinks TO GO. read more

I used to come to this location back in the day but I can't rmbr much about the details. Pretty sure they updated their decor though. 4 stars just for awesome prices & good service. 2 large drinks = $6.90 only?!? Clearly, I've been spending too much time in Irvine. However, I like the Irvine TapEx's Aloe better. Peach tea is about the same but the aloe itself here is like jelly. No bueno. read more

I used to work much closer to this location, and regularly went in for Boba drinks. I have never purchased food at this location, but the drinks were always on point... Maybe a little on the Sweet side, but for a big guy like me that's never been a problem. Parking is sometimes a little difficult in the parking lot, due to the busy strip mall with 99¢ store as an anchor tenant, and several other small businesses, including a subway, the donut shop, a couple of Asian specialty foods places, and some discount clothiers. These days, I don't make it there as often. However, I ducked in there the other day, and ordered my old usual. It was quite tasty, the Bobo being a little bit warm, until the ice had a chance to catch up. If memory serves, this was one of the first Boba places in the immediate area, as most of them were always closer to Valley Boulevard and the Alhambra side of town. Now that there are many options throughout Arcadia, I don't get over here with the same schedule. but reliable is reliable, and this place has certainly stood the test of time... At least when drinks are the issue at hand. read more

Best boba and best Chinese fast food in this whole LA area. no joke. I have not been to a better boba joint than this one. And I've been a boba junkie since HS. The combo food is as good as fast food can get. The beef is awesome. Actually I'm craving it right now.... mmmm But try not to go in rush hours like after school hours or night time. I've been coming here for years, every time I get a hankering for boba or start to crave something savory. From the snack menu, their crispy chicken is delicious, I usually get them with medium spice if I'm sharing or spicy if it's all for me. Same with their fries, yum!! Sometimes when I'm feeling something extra crunchy, I'll go for the egg rolls which never fail to please! If I'm really hungry, I'll go for a combo, which, honestly, they're all really good, I can't pick a favorite! As for their teas, my all time favorite is the black tea with honey or the jasmine milk tea. (The only problem I have with the black tea and honey is I drink it too fast!) they have tons of choices of bobas and jellies to put in your drinks too! Their snowbubbles (like a thick shake) are really awesome too! When I was much younger and started going there, I'd always spring for the Mocha Snowbubble, which became my favorite sweet treat at the time. I'd still recommend it! The prices are beyond reasonable for the amount you end up getting and the staff is always super kind, helpful and friendly (which, to me, is very important). And they really keep on top of the cleanliness! If you haven't been, it's worth checking out! read more

This was a classic growing up in Arcadia and I think tapex is definitely underrated here on yelp!! Came here recently, it's such a familiar vibe tho it's been renovated. The bento box food are solid and with drink it's a good deal. Upgraded the basic green tea to a milk tea is what I always do. Thai milk tea would not recommend (other drinks are usually good tho) but boba is rly chewy as usual. The fried snacks are pretty decent and service is fast. This place is at least 4 stars and is an oldie but goodie IMO fs read more

What I love about these Asian food places is that they are open late, and they make healthy food. I have work during the day til afternoon like most people, and then I go to the gym. I train and teach at Old Town Fight Club in Monrovia so I stay there until about 10pm or so. The only places that are open at that time are fast food joints; not the best places to eat after training. Then in comes Tapioca Express. They are open until midnight which is awesome. It's a small place but they have outdoor and indoor seating to accommodate customers. I usually get their Japanese BBQ Chicken. It comes with what seems to be a breast and thigh in teriyaki sauce, rice, an egg brewed in tea, and salad. It's $6.99. There is something in it however that's bitter. I think it's these small black things in there so beware. Their fish steak rice is awesome too. I love their frosti milk drinks. But their Snow Bubble smoothie drinks have to be my favorite. They are smooth and filling. They are basically milk, ice, and a flavor. I always get a large which is about $3.50. The caramel and vanilla I have tried so far. All in all Tapioca Express is awesome. Healthy food all day is what I love about it. read more

The boba quality here is not that high but the popcorn chicken makes up for it. This place has the best popcorn chicken in my local area. The boba doesn't really have that boba taste, it's quite bland and it's clear instead of black. The tea is alright, I agree when people say it's refreshing but it's not the best. However, I definitely recommend this place to people in search of popcorn chicken in the Arcadia area. read more

I just went to this place ordered popcorn chicken and 4 drinks. It was $28.11, I gave them a large bill and supposed to give me back 71.89. The worker give me 70.89. I said there's $1 missing and looked like they didn't want to give me with a face expression. The second part was I standing there waiting for my order the boss lady asked me is there anything wrong your order is there with an attitude. Come on if the order is ready speak up. How would the customers know? You don't do business like that. I can understand everyone going through tough times, but be happy with customers not rude. read more

A hidden gem. Many people judge this boba shop bc of the "boba gangsters" that seem to hang outdoors of this place all day long... but many do not know how quite simply amazing their dishes & bubble teas are. I was lucky to be one of the daring few (haha!) to try their "pork stewage with rice" meal. It retails at a good whopping $5.89. The mysterious brown little pork meat w one brown boiled egg, & mysterious veggies over the squishy white rice is what keeps me coming back to this place, & keeps me from my dream bikini bod. The teas taste like they were made from a fairy on an all white sand beach in thailand. I HIGHLY recommend humbling yourself & try this place ASAP. When I think of home, I think of Tapioca Express! The milk tea boba and spicy fries basically got me through highschool. What makes TapX boba unique is its milky and perfectly balanced flavor. I feel that a lot of boba places struggle with finding the right balance in their drinks-- sometimes, the taste of tea is overwhelmingly strong (especially at bougie milk tea shops), the tea is way too watered down, or the taste of brown sugar will leave a grainy taste on your tongue. These are the types of drinks that I'll take a few sips out of for the sake of enjoying its interesting flavors, but not finish. But at Tapioca Express, their reasonably- priced drinks and tender, chewy boba are mixed to a silky, smooth perfection that makes downing the whole cup an enjoyable and easy experience. Having traveled to Norcal, all over Socal and Asia and tasting numerous milk teas, the milk tea boba from Tapioca Express still holds a special place in my heart. It's rich, it's smooth, and no taste seems to "dominate" the senses. If you are looking for a fancy meal, or an exquisite-tasting type of tea, this may not be the place to go. But if you're looking for a hearty, rich cup of boba and a tasty, feel-good type of meal, Tapioca Express is the place to go! :) read more

Been coming here for over 10 years. A family tradition to come here at least once a week. Tapex has always been the spot! My go to is the Mango green tea w/ Mango Jelly. Always made right and never disappointed. I do however miss the clear honey boba they used to have back in the day but no worry. If you're hungry grab the fish steak rice, includes yummy savory vegetables, a tea egg, rice and a peppery fish filet. Amazing! Always look forward to coming back every time I'm in California 10/10 cheers! read more

There are so many boba places in Arcadia that it's overwhelming to think about when I think about boba... LOL! I came here with a friend today because she recommended this place to me. Since I feel like my milk tea boba days are over (super sad), I decided to go for their tea drinks. The lady recommended me the peach jasmine green tea because it was one of their most popular items. As I was waiting for my tea to be made, I just so happen to catch her pour a small cup of my drink and try my drink. For some reason, I really appreciated that because it just showed that she wanted to make sure that my drink tasted good. And she was right! It did! The only thing I would change is to not put as much peach sweetener. But, that's just personal preference, and I still enjoyed the drink! What I really liked about this place is that it is clean and the interior is really cute. There was no one there, but it seemed like they really do a good job maintaining the place. A definite plus! I was also taken away by the price! It's definitely cheaper than other boba places for sure, that I was able to afford a large! Boba is 50 cents more, but because it was already so cheap, I got the boba. However, they only take cash! BRING CASH! Parking is in a private lot, which isn't too bad when I went there. Definitely a place I will come back to. Maybe I'll ask them to not put so much sweetener next time. read more

I went during the week, so thankfully it wasn't very crowded, and my friend and I were able to sit upstairs in one of the honeycomb booths. If one is available, DO IT. It made the whole experience that much more fun, and you get such a cool view of the restaurant from up there. Now, FOOD. I ordered the Pork Tonkatsu Omurice with curry sauce, which comes with chicken fried rice wrapped in that beautiful fluffy omelet, topped with pork tonkatsu and curry. When they bring it out, they actually ask if you'd like to record the presentation before they cut/open the egg--which, obviously, YES. It's one of those little touches that turns ordering food into an actual experience. And it was BOMB. The egg was fluffy, the pork tonkatsu had that crispy texture, and everything worked really well with the fried rice and curry. The curry itself isn't particularly spicy, so if you're someone who doesn't tolerate much heat, don't let the word curry scare you. It had plenty of flavor without being hot. Most people sit outside on the chairs or bring it back to the car. I love that they provide free stickers, know your rights cards, and sell merch and Lactaid. I have yet to come to 626 ice cream during a community event like their Mahjong nights, but I know they collaborate with local orgs! Note that their prices are a little higher than regular soft serve spots, but I'm happy to support them as they pour back into their community. They definitely are worth the price with all the love that they put into their ice cream and their community.

Came in for a mango smoothie with boba. Simple order. Paid, waited, got called up -- no boba. I go back to let them know and the guy tells me he never added it to the order at all. Fine, mistakes happen. What made it worse was how it was handled. Instead of just remaking the drink, he rang it up as a separate transaction, meaning I got taxed twice -- once for the original order and again for the boba that should've been included from the start. And instead of actually putting the boba in my drink, he handed me a cup of boba and told me to add it myself. You made the error and now I'm assembling my own drink? To top it off, the whole interaction he kept talking to me like I wasn't getting it -- repeatedly asking "ok? you understand?" I understood just fine. I just wanted the drink I ordered. It's become the perfect place for our mini-dates and study sessions. It has a very chill and relaxing environment with nice decor and friendly staff. We've tried most of their snacks/combos and the food is always delicious with an authentic Taiwanese taste. Their drinks are on another level compared to other tea shops. Good ol' tapioca express, I used to be a regular here in High School. Lately, I think their drinks have shrinked juuust a little. Or maybe it's just me. Their honey black tea is yummy, it's what I always order whenever I go here. Or when I feel like mixing it up, I get their milk tea. It doesn't taste like straight up powder like other tea places sometimes do. Their fries will always be my favorite, actually, their food is pretty good here. Cheap too! Why is this place still serving food? I purchased chicken strip combo . The chicken, the rice, the egg, the topping on the rice all taste like house hold cleaner . There's a reason why the public health code letter for food safety is a "B". Grossest experience of take out food I have ever had. The drinks are alright, there good, but I wont be going back. I disbelieve they are following proper safe serving procedures like washed hands and changing cloths, not wiping the pan you cook in with the same cloth you wiped the chairs and tables. read more

Both drinks were good, you can taste the tea quality. A rose milk tea is hard to find with a balanced rose flavor that is not too floral. Parking can be a bit challenging since it's located in the busy Teapot plaza, but there's 15 minute pick-up parking spaces right in front of the store. Staff were friendly when handing out the drinks, though they seem a little reserved at first. They also offer regular specials for select drinks priced at $3, $4 and $5. Some tables are available to hang out, though it's a "express" location. It's nice to see an old school tea shop still around, especially with so many newer tea spots opening these days.
