It's my first time at this location, the food was fine but the service was horrible. I will not be revisiting this location.

First off, I love Natalie at bonchon she works the evening shift, I know they be close to closing time when I come in around 7:30 but I never had great guest experience the way Natalie gives it to us All of us here at Paul Mitchell literally come to bon chon everyday for lunch just because of her and another young lady who works evenings there as well. I came here with a couple friends on a Tuesday night at about 5pm. When we first arrived, there were a couple tables full but no one in front of us in line (you order, then sit down). In the time that we were there it got pretty crowded though. I ordered the 6 pieces chicken strips w/ one side (fries) for $8.49. You can choose two flavors for the chicken so I got spicy and soy garlic. The spicy definitely has a kick to it and the soy garlic was tasty. The chicken strips were pretty moist and not too dry. The fries are actually really good too, and they give a lot -- I wasn't able to finish the fries. Service was fast and the cashier was really friendly. 5/5. Water also tasted good here. Parking is combined with all the other restaurants, stores, and movie theater, but I was able to find parking easily in the front (it does get crowded though). read more

I'll give them an A for service but the food was ah. Why does a chain restaurant have different menu items depending on the location? The things that I wanted to try, this location did not have. This location does not have the salmon avocado ball, Tteokbakki, Bull Dak, sesame ginger salad, or the pork buns. Elk Grove location has it, but this one doesn't and you guys are in the same county! From there it just kind of went downhill. You know how when you have your heart set on something and when they don't have it and you have to settle for something else and it's just never going to be satisfying? So we settled for Takoyaki, bulgogi sliders and some chicken wings. We order six wings and it came in a tiny little box. I looked at it and was like, there's six wings in there? Takoyaki was alright but after three, I was done. I ordered the 10 drumsticks, half soy garlic and half spicy. The soy garlic was my favorite, drooling just recapping it again. Please be advised, the spicy chicken is spicy, not faux spicy like other chicken establishments. It's a creeper and sticks to your throat. The drumsticks were huge! I was expecting the size to be like Wingstop or Firewings but nope! These were easily two to three times bigger! I usually close to 20+ wings/legs to get full...but only needed 10 of these to do the job. I ordered Cole slaw for my side, with some Takoyaki. Not a huge fan of the Takoyaki, it was very creamy and weird tasting. The money was in the chicken. I was a bit hesitant at first because it was on the pricier side but it was well worth it. Service is decent and quick, but after going to another Bonchon location I think the Arden location could use some work! I've been to this one twice, once I ordered the medium 16 piece for ~$17 and shared that along with two orders of fries for a total of $25. Last night I came with three friends and we spent about $50 total. This included a large order of chicken (24 piece) ($27), takoyaki (6 piece) (~$6) and three orders of seasoned fries ($8). I think the prices are reasonable but a little higher than I expected for fast food, but this was filling enough for four people and the chicken does come with complimentary radishes. Flavor-wise for me, it's hit or miss. Last night the soy garlic was waaay too salty but the spicy wings were perfect. The previous time the spicy wings weren't spicy enough but the soy garlic was just right? The fries have been good every time and the takoyaki last night was decent. It's a little inconsistent on those wings! Overall though, it's a good location for a quick Bonchon fix after some holiday shopping - but it's pricy and the food quality is inconsistent. I'm going to chalk it up to them still being fairly new, because I still enjoyed both my visits there! I'm excited to try the tacos / calamari the next time I go! read more

Soft opening, and first review, so s'all good. So...why three stars? I will start off with the food. The cole slaw was just not that acidic. It could be because I was raised on Jewish deli acidic cole slaw, but their slaw seemed a little flat. The fries were good, but there were a few undercooked in the bunch. Now, what you're all waiting for.... I ordered the soy garlic chicken wings. They were amazing. I typically don't like battered wings, but these were so good. I snarfed them down. Crispy, sticky, juicy....didn't even need a dipping sauce. I think this place is a chain, but whatever...great chicken. I ordered the wing combo (which didn't include a drink) and had to a drink. I think the definition of a combo, in a food place, is a collection of items. So a drink should be part of the combo. But not a big issue, just a pet peeve of mine. The sauce I ordered was the sweet crunch and the side was fries. Fries were crunchy and the chicken had an amazing crunch on them. The flavor was a decent sweet, I wish it had a bit of spice to it, but a really good piece of chicken wing. I would definitely revisit this place. Now to the issue that I have. This was our first time here, and the employees were super kind. They helped us to order. I don't like spicy so I Ordered the wings plain. I do have to say that I recently ate here again and they have SWEET crunch! It is SOOO good! I absolutely loved all the food. So fresh, didn't feel greasy, and had lots of flavor! We ordered the shrimp Shumai, and they were REALLY good. We ordered the chicken Katsu, a side of rice, and potstickers. Maybe we just got lucky and arrived just before the lunch crowd. The set up of this location is very different from the one located in Elk Grove. You place your order at the station and then find a seat. We ordered the usual wings and tacos. We also ordered a side of rice to go with the wings as my daughter has to either have rice or noodles with her meal. The wings were delicious as usual. I would say it actually reminds me of the taste of BonChon from New York where we first tried BonChon. The taco portion was generous and had a slight kick to it. This is the first time at this location. There is only take out. The staff was wearing masks and the person helping me was very nice. Now for the food. I order wings and drum sticks. I was pretty disappointed with the chicken. The chicken was hard and covered with sauce. I ordered some chicken without sauce and the chicken was bland. My daughter loves Korean fried chicken and she ate less than half of the drum stick. When it comes to Korean fried chicken she will eat at least two drumsticks. With much anticipation, this Bonchon finally opened up! Atmosphere - Located in the heart of Howe 'Bout Arden, Bonchon earned itself some prime real estate being right next to the movie theaters, shopping area, and other eateries. Lots of parking, but the inside is fairly limited. They have open tables in the middle and high top tables on the sides. The bathrooms are very, very clean. Food - We wanted to try a little bit of everything. So, we ended up getting the bulgogi sliders, seasoned fries, and chicken strips (spicy and soy garlic) (pictured). *WARNING* the spicy is actually pretty spicy, but pretty good! The bulgogi sliders were my favorite, though. Service - To my surprise, they actually brought the food to our table and I felt like that was a pretty nice touch. I only interacted with the staff once and that was to voice my order. Other than that, everything else is pretty self-serve. I've been hearing a lot of hype about Bonchon, but was just mildly impressed with their food. Food is high quality and yummy. I would suggest you ask for the sauce on the side rather than on the chicken if you do not like a lot of sauce on your fried chicken. My sister and I were craving Bonchon and ended up coming here after work. We noticed that they had Happy Hour, so that was definitely a plus. I do note though that the HH is only for certain appetizers and $1 off beers. They have a decent amount of options for draft beer, however, I wish they offered pitchers. The cup of beer they sell you isn't even a full pint, it's like what you would get/pay for at a music festival. Service was alright. The first girl who poured our beers knew how to pour, always give a little head (But seriously) lol. The second girl who poured our second round could definitely learn from the first one. We got the medium order of wings (I believe 16?), mostly soy garlic and the rest spicy. *You can specify how many wings you want of each. I definitely like that because a lot of wing places don't let you do this. I think someone can definitely make an ASMR video with these wings. The chicken had that nice crunch when I bit into it. The chicken wings are a good size, but if you prefer drumsticks, they do have that option. The soy garlic is flavorful and the spicy has a nice kick to it--definitely not overbearing. We had the coleslaw as the side and God was that horrible. The most dry and bland shit that I have ever had. I don't even know why they call it coleslaw. We ended up getting the HH fries since we were disappointed with the slaw. We weren't sure how big the portion was going to be, so we ended up getting 2. I definitely think that one is good enough to share. We got the seasoned fries, but I think maybe next time we'll opt for the regular fries. The reason being, there was a hell of a lot of seasoning on those fries. They were good tho, but just had to shake off some of the seasoning. I want to say it was like parmesan cheese or something? I'd probably come here again, but probably won't go for the beers unless they decide to bring pitchers or at least glasses. First time here and it was good but there were a few things they could do better. I had requested two sets of utensils which is the knife, fork & chopsticks and napkins. But they only gave me one chopstick and one knife and fork when the meal was for two people so only one person could use chopsticks. The soy garlic drums are where it's at!! SO GOOD! Drums in general I think is a good choice for Korean fried chicken since the batter is heavier on boneless pieces and strips. Japchae w/ beef and veggies were good. Little pricey for the portion of the Japchae but good. Good pickled radish. Here's my issue, I paid for coleslaw which came in two small salad dressing cups. My boyfriend and I used to LOVE Bonchon, but recently they changed their chicken recipe in January 2023 back to what it was pre-2022. The original batter recipe. We didn't realize the recipe we were eating in 2022 was considered the "new" recipe. Well, the new recipe was SOOOOO much better than the original recipe they just switched to. The current batter is tasteless, it's almost like they did not put any seasoning in it, not even salt. It was a bit chewy and tough as well. Worlds different than the chicken we bought in December 2022. So, unfortunately, we will be looking for a better Korean fried chicken restaurant now :-( read more
