Love this place. The fried chicken is consistently good and the staff is always kind. Tonight I had a situation where I mistakenly ordered the wrong noodles. The staff Jayson and Darion were kind enough to swap it out. They never made me feel bad about it and were quick to get me the correct item. The manager stepped in for a moment and was quick to help out. Always grateful when businesses go above and beyond for their customers. Again, my family and I love this place. read more

Been a loyal fan of Bonchon since 2011 and have been to several locations in the Bay Area so I was super excited when I found out there was one in the Arden area as I'm new to Sac and the Elk Grove location isn't as close to where I live. Unfortunately this is probably my least favorite location if I had to compare to other locations. However by itself, it's pretty good and I'm still going to come back and get my bonchon fix when I want it. If half stars were a thing, I think I'd prefer to give it 3.5 stars but it's not, so I'll round up because of the wings. This location is spacious and clean. At other locations I've been to, you're seated and order as a table, whereas here you order/pay first then sit down. The employees were helpful and answered my questions but didn't seem super friendly when I went. The service was pretty fast considering there were about 3 other parties in the place. Now to the good stuff - the food. The wings were soooo delicious and I'm glad that they had the nice crisp that KFC (Korean fried chicken) should have. The wings were a good size and flavorful. Soy garlic is my fave and I like spicy food so the spicy will def give you a nice kick. You can customize how many wings you want spicy if you want to split the flavors but can't handle as much spicy or vise versa. Only downside was the coleslaw, it was super dry and bland. We ended up ordering seasoned fries because the wings, while delicious on its own, were missing something to go with it. The presentation could've used some work but as long as the food is delicious, I can overlook the presentation. If you want to unwind while eating, they also serve soju cocktails and craft beer. All beers are $1 off during happy hour. Pretty good selection from the amount of beers they have on tap. Definitely a good choice when you're looking for good chicken! read more

The spicy fried chicken is bomb! Super crispy and the flavors are to die for. I don't like when fried chicken is drenched in sauce to make it spicy and that's definitely not how the chicken is here. It has a nice balance between dry and sauce-y spices. I always come here for the chicken and I had asked for a recommendation for fried rice and I was not disappointed by the kimchi fried rice! So freaking delicious. I would seriously eat just the rice alone. They have a lot of other options besides their fried chicken. They have other items like noodles, Korean tacos, and more. Bonchon is not your typical fried chicken restaurant. Here, they serve up Korean style fried chicken. This chicken is unlike what you'd expect if you're used to American style fried chicken and are also covered with either a sweet or spicy sauce. Bonchon is a very nice and modern restaurant. The main dining area is decorated well and the service is definitely top notch. I found everyone there to be friendly and helpful. The chicken is where you really take or leave this restaurant. Personally, I am not a huge fan of their style of chicken. It has a 'bubbly' fry to it, and the glazes only come in sweet or spicy. I'd really just like a regular salted fried chicken that is very savory. On the positive though, these wings came cooked to perfection with a juicy interior that you don't find in other places. For lunch I was able to order a 4 piece combo that came with a side of my choice. I thought 4 pieces wasn't enough so I added a couple more for an extra charge. Your enjoyment of this restaurant will really depend on how much you like their style of wings. To me, they are good for what they are, but I prefer a different style. read more

The food isn't bad, but it's just not worth the prices to me! There are a lot of restaurants nearby who offer similar food, and they have more of a competitive edge to me. We ordered the 20-piece wings ($23) and bacon kimchi fried rice ($12). For our wings, we chose the soy garlic flavor and the spicy flavor. Both flavors tasted good and were crispy, but if I compare them to my favorite wing place, Fire Wings, which is located only a few minutes away from Bonchon, they weren't as good as Fire Wings! Plus Fire Wings offers about 21 different flavors whereas Bonchon only offers three flavors. As for the kimchi fried rice, it was good, but I had better kimchi fried rice at Sushi Hook, which is also close to Arden. The kimchi fried rice at Bonchon had a lighter flavor and not a big portion. Compared to the location in Natomas, this is definitely more of a takeout spot. They put all orders in to go boxes. The portions seemed smaller than the Natomas location, but it may have just been the Togo presentation. There is seating inside and outside. I'm a Bonchon fan overall, and I appreciate the consistency of the chain, especially during a time like this, where nothing seems normal. So I was excited to see Bonchon available for delivery. I wish the there was a tenders and drumstick combo, and the sides are not my fave (but authentic). (This is just about the chain, in general.) This location has nicely sized drumsticks. Their sauces are distinct but not over-the-top wet, which made them easy to eat. The sweet crunch is my favorite of the three sauce choices. I can't believe the ratings for this place aren't all 5's. I grabbed wings and pork buns to go and OMG. I am beyond pleased! The young lady who helped me was very pleasant and responsive. I even watched her with other customers while I waited and she was very nice. The wait was short considering they make the wings when you order. And omg I am so happy with the food! BEST PORK BUNS EVER! I've had a lot of pork buns in my life but these are absolutely delicious. Cole slaw, cucumber and an amazing sauce! The sweet and crunchy wings were also fantastic! Bonchon holds a special place in my heart for having delicious Korean fried chicken. I was in the area around 5pm on a weekday and decided to grab some food (and wait for traffic to subside) before heading back. Here, you order and pay at the register and then sit down. I think it's a lot quicker this way. Plus, there is much less seating at this one than other ones I've gone to. I ordered the Chicken Combo (~$9) which includes 4 wings, 1 drumstick, and 1 side. The sauce I chose was half Soy Garlic and half Sweet Crunch. The side I picked was French Fries. The crunchiness of the chicken here is unmatched. Like I don't know what they do to get it like that but I hope they never change. I'm personally a big fan of the soy garlic sauce. The sweet crunch sauce isn't as tasty. It is on the sweeter side but the flavor isn't as well-made as the soy garlic. Their fries are also super crispy, crunchy, and flaky. How can this come to $33? My fried chicken looked BIG and delicious, but then you bite into it and it's full of just breading with barely and meat inside on the drumstick. I love Bon chon! I am so glad they opened this location because it is nearby. Bon chin has the best Asian chicken Wings. You cannot go wrong with the soy garlic wings. I also recommend the bacon kimchi fried rice with your wings. There's nothing really special about their fries, but I get those too. This location is clean and the orders come out fairly quickly. Sad they didn't have any additional sauces - Coleslaw (4/5): Very light and complemented the chicken really well! - Takoyaki (1/5): DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE ON THE MENU AT ALL OR WORTH THE $6.49. Maybe the order was rushed, not sure but I have made Takoyaki personally at home and in a boba shop to know how Takoyaki should taste like. The food was alright. One thing that stood out to me in the difference form this location to the one in Natomas. This restaurant used chicken thighs for their chicken katsu whereas the one in Natomas used chicken breast which for me is better. The rice was a little hard and overall the taste was quite different from the one in Natomas. The staff was friendly and no issues there. The place does have tables and chairs to sit down but you only get your food in Togo boxes.
