Really disappointed with this visit to a previous favorite. The new location is even noisier than the original. Felt like a cafeteria minus the monitor telling the children to quiet down. Our reservation had us still waiting 20 minutes during which I got elbowed in the gut due to the tiny waiting area (and some rude people). Seated we waited another 20 then the waiter is disappointed to learn we don't have to run to a show. Asks if we're ready to order (hasn't taken a drink order yet). The appetizer he recommended was good but not lactose intolerant friendly. I order carrots, part of their small plate selection, they were tasteless and unseasoned. Our entrees were very good (fish, both) and are the only reason I gave 2 stars. Won't be back. read more

There was a lot of food and all of it just shy of inedible. The one thing that should have been cold ("NY cheesecake") was lukewarm. Calamari app was fresh, well cooked, not gooey or wet/oily. seemed fresh and not from frozen. I had a very lovely dinner here with a friend. The service was extremely friendly. The Maitre d was super friendly. He gave me a [free] glass of champagne while I was waiting for my dining partner. We had caesar salads with grilled chicken and fried calamari. Both were tasty. We also shared a large portion of tiramisu, which was also very good. I been to this restaurant twice this year. My first encounter was a company private event and the experience was good. We had family style dishes: arugula salad, pizza, Calamari, Truffles pasta, fillet mignon and variety of dessert. The arugula salad was overdressed with too much vinaigrette, pizza was good and crispy, calamari was delicious and well seasoned, pasta was good and they were generous on their truffles. The marinara sauce on the calamari added lots of flavor to the dish. They had some mixed issues with the order of steak. Some people got their steaks well done while they asked for medium rare and Vice versa. The desserts were really good. We had tiramisu, Black Forrest cake and strawberry cheese cake. Staffs were attentive and friendly. Although there was some issues, but overall it was pleasant. I would give them 4 stars for this experience since they didn't mix up my order. I decided to come again during Christmas time. However, my second experience was terrible. The service was not well organize. They gave us bread without placing any plates on the table. They did not offer olive oil or butter until you asked. We ordered the fried calamari as appetizer, thinking it was as good as our previous experience. It was not! the calamari was over-breaded and some pieces were just breading. We ordered carbonara pasta and chicken parmigiana. Pasta dish was fresh and savory, but very tiny. The tomato and mozzarella salad was the best I've had. The mozzarella has a cottage cheese texture instead of just slices. I should have ordered 5 of them and just kept them coming it was so tasty. Everything else we ordered was just as good. The couple next to us ordered the avocado toast, it was a very large plate of food that she quite enjoyed. Once it was full of people it was very loud. Our waiter made it sound like they could do me a solid and make me a pasta with Alfredo sauce. Imagine my surprise when the bill came and they charged me for a pasta with shrimp meal.....I didn't have shrimp. It was comparable to Olive Garden and the bill would have been much cheaper there. They also tried to charge us for focaccia bread with burrata cheese when they forgot to bring out the burrata. At least they corrected that on the bill after I pointed it out. Nice decor, but the service was REALLY bad. We stopped in for brunch and found a really limited menu. My wife ordered from the menu and 30-minutes later we asked about her breakfast. The waitress had forgotten to put in the order. Everyone around us got their orders. They never even bothered to check on us. We saw our waitress checking on other tables- but not us. The manager gave us the coffee and my buffet for free for the screwup, otherwise this would be a one-star rating. Restaurants only have to do a few things right to be successful. Definitely one of the best cheeses I have had the pleasure of having in the city. For my main entree I opted for the lobster carbonara. Damn I forget just how good homemade pasta is until i have it. Cooked to al dente perfection and boasting a lot of lobster chunks and served with a poached egg on top, it was truly remarkable. Too full for the gelato course but I am sure I missed out. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service is good, even at busy times. It's too bad that I can't be as positive about the food. I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, and I'm not impressed. The first time, I had the filet mignon, which was fatty, overcooked and hard to eat. The second time, I had the Branzino. It was nice, but it's hard to ruin a simple white fish. The sauce was a little heavy on the olive oil and olives, and it was served with the head on, which didn't bother me, but bothered a couple of the vegetarians I was with. The desserts were excellent, however, so at least the meal ended on a positive. The calamari appetizer is also very good. I was hoping the second visit would prove that the first was a fluke, but sadly, I'm not left with a favorable opinion of the food here. I'm not likely to go back anytime soon. read more

This was just a fabulous lunch. We shared the Carciofi alla giudia, which are fried baby artichokes, Roman Jewish style, as an appetizer. They were just addictive and I have been searching recipes for the little devils since I returned from NYC. I had the Veal Milanese at my guest's recommendation, and it was delightful, crisp but light and set off beautifully by the greens. The chocolate mousse was too rich for me, and the presentation was a little strange - looked like two footballs on the plate, one of chocolate and the other of whipped cream. It was enough for 4 or 6 people easily. The warm chocolate cookies handed out by the manager on the cookie tin is a nice touch, but the cookies weren't particularly special, although they did go well with cappuccino. This place is expensive but you do get large portions. Girls that don't eat that much might want to share, or otherwise plan on a box to take home leftovers. read more

If I am not hallucinating I believe it said somewhere that they make the Burratta Mozzarella fresh daily and it certainly seemed that way. I had the Yellowfin Tuna Steak as the main course and I love how they break up the menu with local and imported flavors. The Yellowfin was from Cape Cod and the dish came together quite well with the balsamic glaze and lentil salad. Bottom line is this is a definite come back place. Despite the touristy nature of the location it really is an ideal meal destination especially for coming into the city just to see a play (as we happened to be doing on this visit). read more

Ate here twice in a week because my parents were staying in the Marriott next door. Most things were great; others less so. We all loved the pepperoni pizza (and we are picky about pizza). Good crust, plenty of cheese, lots of delicious pepperoni. I prefer it without the hot honey, though. Scallops with risotto, pasta Bolognese and soup were all delicious. Complimentary foccacia was very good. The vegetable trio, however, was disappointing. Each had been marinated, or was served with sauce all over it, so the flavors were not what I had expected based on the menu descriptions. And some of the roast carrots were too burnt to eat. Service also varied - it was flawless the first time; the second, scattered and inattentive (we had to specifically request the bread). Also, if you are familiar with the old Bond 45 complimentary chocolate-covered toffee station near the door, note that it has been replaced with a chocolate bark with nuts/seeds. Wow!!!! Love this restaurant!!! Great waitstaff and service. Delicious spaghetti and meatballs. Outstanding handmade pork and beef meatballs with tangy robust gravy. The meatballs were a little overt sled or fried and dry. The speciality pesto ravioli was stuffed with ricotta and garnished with lots of fresh herbs. Decided against the wine and desserts only because we didn't want to go too far into the triple digits. Thirty dollars per entree is a bit much but the location in the theater district is what it is-- expensive.. Great bathrooms-- ENGLISH style floor to ceiling private stalls and well stocked and clean. We didn't have desserts but we observed some decadent choices for our next visit. We were sat by a nice host and greeted with water from the busser. It was a very slow night. The restaurant was pretty empty for 5pm and about 10 minutes after sitting our server comes over. Now from the second this guy got to the table he already looked aggravated that he had to wait on us. Not a hi, hello, how are you all today. Just a "what can I get you?" So I had ordered a cocktail, and the others ordered 2 sodas and a hot tea. Maybe 12-14 minutes go by and no sign of the waiter. Finally when we comes back he just comes back with 2 of the 4 drinks. So I'm like okay let put in apps and hopefully it will come before they arrive. Well the apps arrived and I asked the food runner if he knew where our server was and he didnt. He was very nice enough to grab our 2 remaining drinks for us. Mine was sitting at the bar in plain sight. We has asked for 2 Sprite and he gave us 2 soda water instead so I asked the busser to try to find him so he could bring the others the correct drink. Finally when he passed me by I said excuse me sir and he stuck his finger ger in my face and walked away. I was blown away. I mean really. Who does that? He walked by again and I'm like sir we have the wrong drinks and he heard me but kept walking. He literally has 1 other table. A busser came and bussed out table and maybe 5 minutes later he arrived and said you didnt get your apps yet? I said we did, we ate them, that was almost 20 minutes ago. That's how long he was no where to be found. I said but sir please you brought the wrong soda could you please bring the sprites. He take one glass off the table, mind you both were wrong and brings back one Sprite and I'm like sur they were both wrong and he walks away. When he brings it back he slams it on the table and I'm like sir we need another one please and he walked away. It's my daughters 19th birthday dinner before a show. She is scared to ask for anything because of how inconvenienced it seems we were making him. Quite literally felt like he was angry we were even there. It made for a very uncomfortable dinner. The food runner drops off the filet mignon, chicken parm, and 2 other pastas. The sizes for what you have to pay is absolutely pathetic. They could fit on a side plate. But as long as it tastes good I was fine. However, my filter which I ordered medium was well done. Now sitting there waiting for a check back which I always do being a server myself and he never came. Everyone finished their meal and I'm still waiting to tell him it's over cooked. At this point we has been there almost an hour and a half and the show was getting closer so I didnt want to chance it and I tried to chew it but it would work. So finally I see him and he comes over drops a check and leaves. At this point I'm floored. He clearly saw my steak wasn't eaten. He came back around and im like sir my steak was well done. He is like okay is the check all set and walked off with my.bill.... WOW! Now the kicker is he never brought my change back. We are still sitting I didnt want to miss the show so we get our stuff and get up and I find the managers and tell them what had happened. They were apologizing and said when you come in next time ask for.me and I will make sure you have a better experience. I'm from Massachusetts so going to New York is a treat every so many years. I told her it was my daughter bday and it was such a horrible dinner I paid over 200 bucks for 4 meals one of which was inedible and i saw the busser more then my server My server, a tall older gentleman with silver hair and a lack of people.skills ruined our night. I had to pay for a 44 dollar hockey puck I didnt even eat. They were like then come back after the show and we will give you some apps. I told then we were leaving on a train after the show we were only visiting. At least half should have been taken care of for the crappy food and horrible service. Judging by how empty it was on a friday night no wonder. In the theater district, we had just come from a Rockettes show. The place has atmosphere and a half. Looks like you are walking back into time into a vintage restaurant. The staff was very friendly. The service was good although they did mess up one order. We had ordered raw clams and they brought us clams casino. They took them back immediately and we got the raw clams in a few minutes. The raw clams were out of this world. If I just had them, I would have been satisfied. I have had NY strip steak in some really great restaurants, and their steak is up there with them. It was not the best that I have ever had but a close #2 or #3. Please don't ruin the steak by ordering it "well done or even medium". Medium rare is choice here. There was enough fat on the steak to make it flavorful. It was consistent and scrumptious. There was plenty of steak too, I could not finish it. Everything was great. They do not have free bread. This place was packed full of people! Definitely make a reservation before going. For an appetizer, we ordered a selection of items from the anti pasta bar. All of the vegetables & items were delicious and for a table of 6, the portions were plenty to share. I ordered the scallop entree and it was cooked and presented very nicely. Great place owned by the same guys that own Trattoria del Arte. Same great service and food. Big open place with a non cramped feel. The Cesare salad was great fresh and the dressing so good. Had the chicken parm. Really good taste and not too much bread and great cheese. But it's huge! Enough for 2 people. Service was fantastic and they made a special pasta dish for my wife combining pasta and sauce they had in different dishes. She loved it. Took 10 minutes to see server and was a little hard to track him down after that. Check took 15 minutes. Bartenders rude and clearly wanted nothing to do with breakfast customers. Asked about plates and was told "IF there are plates they are on the other side". I checked at the downstairs bar for a morning cocktail and was called sweetheart and told I'd need to see upstairs bar.
