The cauliflower bites were so freaking bomb. If I ate them with my eyes closed I would have never known they were cauliflower. Perfect amount of spice and flavor that just - bam....bursts in your mouth. I dare you to only eat one. I also had the pulled pork sandwich with brussel sprouts. First off. The brussel sprouts are solo. And honestly, ya don't need anything else. They are flaky crisps that melt in your mouth. Seasoned perfectly. And no bitter flavor of the usual sprout. The pulled pork sandwich was packed with BBQ flavor and so tender and moist. The slaw didn't overpower at all. The bun...damn, buttery and soft. Perfect combo. The first time I came here was years ago and I was very young, so I wasn't able to appreciate it as much as I do now. I've since dined here a few times and also gotten take-out once. Overall, I've only had one negative experience but every other time I've eaten here has been lovely, so that's why I'm only taking off one star. I'll start with the good: the Smashburger is absolutely delicious, and they also have some really stellar french fries if you opt to order them. The meat is super flavorful and quality, with just the right amount of toppings, cheese & sauce, and the bun is so soft but still holds everything together. To me, it tastes like one of the best simple yet satisfying homemade burgers you've ever had. This is what I've ordered nearly every time I've visited, and also ordered it for takeout and it was just as good to-go. Oh and honorable mention to the sweet potato tots, those are great too! My dad is a huge fan of this place and is constantly raving about their chilaquiles, lol. So we came for brunch today and I decided to give the chilaquiles a shot. You have the choice of carne asada, carnitas, chorizo and I think bacon as well - or you can get them vegetarian. Carnitas is my favorite so I decided to try theirs. I'm SO glad I did because it was some of the most tender, juicy and flavorful carnitas I've had in some time and was the perfect pairing with the chilaquiles. If you've had your fair share of carnitas you know that it can sometimes be dry and chewy depending on the place you order from so it can be a slight risk. I must say that is NOT at all the case here and I hope they choose to incorporate their delicious carnitas into more dishes soon. Onto the chilaquiles themselves: the tortilla chips weren't drowning in sauce and soggy; they still held a nice crisp texture and had a good coating of sauce. The green salsa was tasty as was everything else on the plate. It was topped with an over easy egg (it was either one HUGE egg or two eggs lol) that just brought everything together. I wasn't even missing the avocado to be honest, the dish was delicious as is. Would definitely order this again when I want a hearty, flavorful and satisfying meal. The only thing I've ordered here and didn't like too much was the pulled pork mac n cheese. To be fair I'm pretty picky with my mac and cheese, but to me it just wasn't nearly cheesy enough and needed seasoning. It was quite bland and it was only saved by the pulled pork. Looking at other Yelpers' photos of it, it looks waaaay cheesier and I'm left a little confused. Maybe it's a consistency issue, but either way the time I ordered it I was unimpressed. I would possibly try it again sometime in the hopes that I just got it on an off day the first time! All in all, the food is delicious despite a small hiccup with the mac n cheese and I will continue to support this business. The waitress that usually helps us is really kind and I appreciate her attentiveness and positive attitude. I didn't catch her name, but it did say "Z" on the receipt so shoutout to her! I'd say if you're looking for a weekend brunch spot in the Covina area, don't pass this place up! They have some delicious breakfast dishes and mimosas. It's been a while since I stopped by just given the chaos that is life and whatnot but I found myself in the area so I stopped in for a quick drink and bit. Happy to report it's still a 10/10. Bread & Barley is a small gastropub serving craft beer, wine-based drinks and delicious eats. The ambiance is casual without being tacky and plays music without it being too loud. They offer bar-side seating as well as a small area with tables. Their food is well prepared and well priced. Always excellent ingredients served fresh. I had the pleasure of having a chat with Rebecca who was friendly and accommodating. It's nice when someone goes the extra mile to make sure you're enjoying yourself. The Bleu and Beet salad was an extra generous portion of greens (no cheap iceberg here), served with a nice vinaigrette and a beet purée that's creamy and earthy. It goes great with added steak or on its own. The tamarind drink wasn't my fave but I'm not a big wine drinker so maybe that's why but it was literally the only "downside". We had two burgers and a Cuban sandwich with sweet potatoe tots and one got the side salad. This case, the side salad was the way to go. The burgers and sandwich were really good, the ambiance was great with the Trivia by Rob Smith. However, the Service was abysmal. We got our food relatively quickly, but never took a drink order. When we had been out of water for a while a waitress dropped off a carafe. Other than that, they never checked on us and we had to go to the counter to pay the bill. The travesty was they had more help present than occupied tables and we could see them on their phones and gabbing, not attentive to us at all. It was a bit surreal. Someone else commented if not a friend you got bad service, and that held true tonight as we weren't evidently part of the group. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite with my husband. We had a less than memorable experience. Our waitress seemed super nice, however I'm sure it being a busy Friday night is the reason she kept forgetting to bring us our tableware. Note* A burger alone will run you $16. My husband and I absolutely do not mind paying for quality, good tasting food. But both our burgers were less than memorable as well. I ordered the OG Bravo Burger and he ordered the English Pub. He ordered his medium rare but it was well done (see photo). Mine was cooked more like medium well...it was supposed to be spicy but it wasn't. There was chipotle aioli in it, but it was sweet vs being spicy as advertised. Side note* the Bacon for both burgers were the best part! Cooked perfectly, so they get an extra star for that. Another thing that bothered us is the fact when taking our order, our waitress made it sound like our burgers came with a side. We ordered our burger and she proceeded to ask...would you like this, this, or that with your burger but failed to mention there is a charge for it. Since we work down the street, this place has been our go to spot for lunch. I love their Nashville Chicken Sandwich with their sweet potato tater tots! Such a perfect balance of heat and sweet. I also like to ask for a side of the hot sauce/chili oil they put on the Sandwich to up the heat level even more. OH, and the brioche bun? Super soft and fresh, almost melts in your mouth! My coworkers love their carne asada fries. I am not so much a fan as I like shredded cheese, their comes with more of a fondue like cheese cause. Mmmm meh. Came here with my cousins a few weeks ago to grab some food & hang out. After a miscommunication with staff about our wait time - we were finally seated. Our group ordered fairly quick because we went over the menu as we were waiting to get seated. Everyone's food came out but mine - my family was half way done before my food came out. The waitress simply said she didn't know what happened and that she was sorry. Update: I tried the miso gouda mac and cheese again and it wasn't as cheesy. Still good and creamy, though. A little sad it doesn't seem to be consistent, but I'll be back again. This time I also tried the portobello fries ($11), which were also pretty good. The mushrooms were in weird shapes; some looked like thick slices, others looked more mushroom-y. They were lightly battered and fried. The mushroom inside didn't have much taste, so it was everything else in the dish that gave it flavor. The fries came with a lot of bacon but my favorite part was the shaved parmesan and truffle aioli. The music here is a bit too loud for conversation still, but I guess that's the pub atmosphere. We were seated pretty quickly on a Friday night with menus in our hands almost immediately, but it felt like forever to get the check picked up. read more

Nice brewery with a cozy atmosphere when you go inside. The food was pretty good and tasted even better when paired with the beers. The server was helpful and helped us order as it was our first time coming here. For our first orders, I ordered the "Pleased To Meet Me" which was their darkest beer and I really enjoyed it. My friend ordered the "Brainless Raspberries" which was fruity and flavorful. She checked on us a once after we got our food. We had to go to the counter to get our check since it was getting close to show time. I got the pulled pork mac and cheese with brussel sprouts and my fiancé got the western burger (no veggies). Everything needed salt. The pulled pork was actually pretty good but there wasn't very much of it on the mac and cheese. Maybe you get more with the sandwich. Brussel sprouts were dry and a little bitter. They would have been better with a balsamic glaze. Fries weren't very crispy and kind of limp. The burger was pretty good. I don't mind the price but it didn't meet expectations so I wouldn't pick it again. I expected all of the food to be amazing. The restaurant itself was pretty warm and humid. Very cool, relaxing, cozy venue! I ordered a couple of beers (IPAs/Microbrews) that contained approximately 9% alcohol by volume. Prices are excellent and there is a pretty wide variety. VERY SOLID brew. My choice was called the "Gnome" something or other. I was too hammered to remember the complete name. Hahaha! But I digress... it's a great place for small groups of 2-4. I went for brunch. Their flight of beers was delightful, especially since I prefer the darker brews. They had a wide variety of options and I enjoyed the honey beer the most, despite it not being that dark. They do have the nitro option, so go for it! Also, their options for brunch are simple but so very delicious! I was most impressed with the TOAST when it came to eating the Avocado Toast. Yes, the avocado and additional veggies on top were amazing. The hidden jalapeno was a surprise. But the toast had a taste of its own that was beautiful, tasty, and so flavorful, I wanted to just keep eating it. I, actually, ended up forgetting a bit about the pancakes. Located on the main strip of the cute downtown area of Covina, this brewery restaurant not only has great beer but good food as well. Okay two words: portobello fries. Sometimes you ask that rhetorical question of: What would I want for a last meal? This would solve that problem. At $9, it's not exactly a cheap thrill, but this platter is large enough to share. The umami-ness of the mushrooms combined with the deep fried crispiness is worth taking your Lipitor for, trust me. The rotating beer menu has a ton of options - I had a sampler of Belgian style beers. I even tried their saison - and believe me I am NOT a fan of saison-style beer - and loved this. I am sorry to say that I didn't recall the name, I think I had too much beer. The fish and chips should be renamed "chips and fish." Daughter thought that there could have been more fish to go with the fries, but the fries alone are amazing. Fresh potatoes, these make for delicious fries - they aren't too thick either! Service is friendly and they put up with me wanting to try every beer under the sun before settling on a sampler (yes I am THAT customer). But this was my fourth trip back here.
