I came here because I saw they have a vegan entree on the menu called the Spicy Vegan Bowl. I am so glad I tried it because it was absolutely delicious! They scramble Just Egg with vegetables and add Beyond Italian sausage and sliced avocado over their home fried potatoes. Everything was prepared perfectly! It was very heavy with onions and green peppers which I usually would've thought that was good. It was just overdone. The potatoes that were in my meal were bad. When my friend wanted to meet for brunch, with a group of five adults and two kids, you can only imagine 1-2 hrs minimum in Gilbert, AZ. We went to Broken Yolk on Saturday at 10am and got seated immediately. Win #1! 2) The service was great! Everyone was so attentive, checking on us constantly and making sure my daughter (soon to be 2) was comfortable. Even halfway through the meal she needed to get up and walk around, and as we did laps around the restaurant, everyone just smiled and let her do her thing. Thank you! 3) The food! Great portions, savory and sweet dishes, I was full for hours after! I couldn't decide between the different flavor benedicts so I got the "Pick 2: Golden State & original." Both we're perfectly okay he's and the flavors went so well together. I'm pretty sure I ate one in less than 2 min. The potatoes can be hashbrowns or their home style fries, both good but the table agreed - homestyle was the way to go! Light and crispy, you feel less guilty eating them for sure. I really wanted to love this place when we arrived to a big open dining room that looked clean and modern. Our drinks came back quickly. However, the food was a total miss. The appearance of the "Border Benedict", first off & from a foodie who is hard to bum out, was super unappealing. And I love me some sloppy Mexican! But it only got worse when I tried to choke down the extremely salty meat which had the texture of wet dog food (supposed to be carne asada) and brick hard corn cakes that even that sauce couldn't soften up. My daughter loves Crepes in general and thought that was a safe pick, but they weren't authentic crepes. They were just thinner fluffy pancakes. Bummer all around for food. The hash browns it came with were the best part of my dish (not a good sign). Pro tip: order them crispy! The food is overpriced for the quality. If my brunch is over priced, I expect it to taste that way ya know?! No one was excited about their meal but the flights definitely helped. My friend ordered the monte cristo which she liked so maybe the rest of us just missed our mark on the ordering. I noticed a lot of sweet dishes on their menu (French toast, pancakes, crepes) so if that's your thing this might be a good option. It wasn't a bad visit, just plain. Nothing to write home about.
