I've never liked New York. I've never liked the Bronx Bombers. I've never liked their subway system. I've never liked the city the couple of times I've visited. So it came as a big surprise for to me when I showed up at the Bronx Sandwich Company one afternoon at lunchtime. They were the new place close to my office. Although I never liked New York, I liked this place. It is so simple! "Sandwich" is in their name. If you stick with their sandwiches, you cannot go wrong. They also have fries, salads, and bowls on their menu. But, after trying their sandwiches, I doubt I will ever order these. You have a choice of either a French Baguette, Rye or Wheat Bread. Each time I have been here, I have ordered my sandwich with a French Baguette. The French Baguette is not the skinny kind that you get at a Banh Mi restaurant. Their baguette measures in at about 10 inches long. If girth is something you like, you will be satisfied with their French Baguette. I have tried their Mobster and New York Sandwiches. Their Mobster is a hot sandwich filled with pastrami, turkey, American Cheese and Mayo. It is a manly sandwich with no vegetables at all. The New York is a cold sandwich filled with roast beef, Harvati Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. I've liked both sandwiches that I tried. Their French Baguette has a great crunchy crust and makes for the perfect bread for a sandwich. Their meats are all from Dietz and Watson. Yes, Costco occasionally sells and give samples of Dietz and Watson Deli Meats. But, a Costco sample is nothing compared to the ginormous amount of meat that you get in your sandwich. The price for their sandwich is expensive. Most sandwiches are $8.99. But, the sandwiches are large enough for two to share. The employees are nice and friendly. They were very good at recommending their sandwiches to me. I liked the two sandwiches that I have tried, and I look forward to coming back again to try something different. The sandwiches look better than they taste. Bronx Club (9.99) - golden roasted turkey, creamy harvati cheese, crispy bacon, haas avocado, lettuce, tomato and mayo. I chose wheat bread because I wanted to be healthy, but who am I kidding, I chose a sandwich that has bacon. I thought the bread was dry and thick, which made it difficult to eat. I wish they had some special aioli to flavor the sandwich. Sloppy Bronx (10.99) - thinly sliced beef, all hot beef link, melted American, Swiss and Pepperjack cheese, crispy fries, coleslaw, and spicy mayo. I got to try the famous bronx sandwich and it was way better than mine. I probably favored this one because it had a spicy mayo and the sandwich included fries!!! Sub standard sandwiches for me. Another place going down the DRAIN, terrible service. I gave this place a solid 7 months. What a bummer. I thought I found the love of my life ( Bronx Sandwiches). Unfortunately, I'm breaking up with the place due to the crappy experiences I've had. I won't come back--ever. They always mess something up. I've let it go many time but not this time. Last Incident/experience: I was unhappy with sandwich because it's a "Bloody mess" (see pic). I'm literally nauseated while making this call. Me: Hello, hey how's it going? I just picked up a "NY" and it's pretty bloody. I order it all the time and it never looks nor tastes like this? What's going on? Him: Hold on, let me check w/the manager and he gets back on the line to say, " Apparently, the New Yorker is served rare." ( Which is no where to be seen on the menu). Me: Okay, I guess I won't be ordering that again. (Which by the way, I've had three times prior to this event). Him: Okay, bye. Me: WTF just happened? What he should of said!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry that you are unhappy with your sandwich. Would you like to come by so we can make you a new one or something else? NOOOOOOOOO, I didn't get that option. They had me at Bronx.... Ambiance Parking | Plaza parking, depending on the day it can get packed. However there is more parking behind the plaza without limited time (because others say 1hr before 6pm) Seating | Plenty of seating. Outside or inside and great for groups. I personally enjoy sitting outside to watch cars drive by. Feels | A typical fast food joint with alternative/now music. There's a tv if you want to catch up with sports or a show. Not like you're commercialized restaurants, just a simple grab and go or sit in and catch up/read type of joint. Food: The Manhattan Fries (Recommend) A great manhattan twist, definitely a great alternative to philly style. Fries served in xorn beef, cheese, and onions. It could possibly fill up two people. Spicy Alabama (Recommend) Chicken or beef sausage with bell peppers, onions, and layered with mustard. The bread was fresh and crispy, Usually breads are plain but that has good crisp and flavor Customer Service | Though I didn't get a "hello" greeting, my order was served timely and they did check up on me. Couldn't complain with that! Overall | 4.5 stars. This is a great hidden gem. In a plaza not too busy, it's a great escape from the flashy Marketplace. Though the vibe attempts to make an NY vibe, the food definitely makes me feel nostalgic. A bit pricey but definitely a bang for your buck. A diverse menu and one of a kind sandwiches. came here this past Wednesday around 6:50pm for the first time! ive always driven by but never had the chance to try it but while searching for a nearby sandwich joint, the photos of the bronx sandwich caught my eye! we walked in and they had signs and stickers labeling for social distancing and mask wearing due to covid. we were immediately greeted and the cashier gave his opinion when we asked for suggestions. food came out in around 10 minutes! it looked like the outdoor seating was available for use, but no one was using it and I was taking it to go! THE FOOD: -king of queens ($11.99) - delicious hot pastrami and corned beef with swiss cheese and spicy mustard on grilled rye. YUMM! this was so good! I was really impressed with their pastrami and if I wanted a hot sandwich I would totally get this again. VERY good. highly recommend. -bronx club ($10.99) - lots of turkey, muenster cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo... this photo sold me to come here and try it. was pretty good! BF and I tried Bronx for lunch over the weekend. I would have given them two stars, but I know they just opened, so I am hoping they can work out the kinks. Perhaps we will give them another chance in a couple months. I ordered #12, The New York, which is a roast beef sandwich. I paid $1.75 to add bacon and avocado to my sandwich, which brought the total to $10.74 for my sandwich. BF ordered #15, The Bronx Club, which is a turkey sandwich with the exact same ingredients as my sandwich, including the bacon & avocado, for only $8.99. He ordered his without tomato. I paid for lunch, the total for the two sandwiches with two bags of chips and two drinks was $30. Pricey. The whole ordering experience was irritating as the cashier wasn't paying attention at all, he kept asking us to repeat ourselves, and other staff kept talking to him and asking him questions while he was trying to take our order. I'm sure that is one of the reasons he couldn't maintain his attention span with us. We got our drinks and sat at a table. A few minutes later the cashier came over and told us that they ran out of roast beef the day before, so I needed to pick another meat. I went with turkey, which means I basically ordered the same sandwich as my BF, but I paid more because I had to add the items. Lame. Our sandwiches finally came out, and his had tomato, but didn't have bacon or avocado. So he had to send it back. While we waited for his sandwich to come back, I attempted to eat mine. There was way too much meat, I had to remove about half of it, as I am not a snake who can unhinge her jaw to eat a massive sandwich. I get that people probably like loads of meat, but half of mine ended up going in the trash, which is unfortunate. The sandwich was okay. I didn't think there was anything special to it, although I will say I liked the Havarti cheese a lot, it was very creamy. The sandwiches were too big for both of us, we should have split one, as we ended up taking two halves home. I just wasn't impressed with the entire experience, from the space cadet cashier, to the up-charge on a sandwich I couldn't actually have, to even being allowed to order an item they ran out of the previous day. I wanted to like this place since it has come recommended. For $58 (including 10% tip) we had a cheesesteak, a hot pastrami, a kids chicken fingers and fries, 8 oz of Mac salad, and 3 fountain drinks. The price point is high, however I realize that rent is expensive, labor is expensive, and everything else that makes these small businesses operate contribute to high price points. It's fn expensive. It is safe to say that we were super disappointed. My cheese steak had 0 seasonings on anything. I don't know why everything is not seasoned on the sandwich. The cheese and bread, obviously not, but the meat and veggies? Not even salt? Nothing on the meat or veggies, and bland provolone. Not traditional, obviously, as I am a PA native but always try them where ever I go. The chicken fingers were leather consistency. I wish I had taken a pic. My non picky eater wished she had ordered the tuna salad sandwich instead, and didn't finish. My husbands pastrami was the only redeeming part of the meal. It had great flavor and very tender. However, when he asked for a side of coleslaw, the cashier assumed he meant added on the sandwich (?). An odd request that should've been clarified. As there was an option for side of color slaw right on the menu. I'm sure it is common for people to order a side. The food is always great at the Bronx but I have eaten here so many times and the rudeness of their employees is really starting to wear on me. They roll their eyes, talk to people like they are stupid and have a general posture that seems like you are bothering them. I have seen them act irritated with other customers as well. I live and shop in Tustin but there are plenty of places to eat where the employees are rude. Do not go here during lunch hours if you want to have your order within 30 minutes. Not finish your lunch but you will wait 30 minutes from time of order until you receive your food. The staff here is so overwhelmed. Orders come in online and the folks who order in the store have to wait forever. This spot came through for us when our grocery delivery failed! I was annoyed and hungry so we quickly ordered some sandwiches and fries and were very happy with it all. It was being completed right when we got there, great customer service, they got the order right (when you say no Mayo, side of ranch, etc. you usually expect something to get messed up), and it was delicious! Huge disappointment! Is this place under new ownership? We used to frequent this sandwich shop often, but it has gone downhill. The employees really seem like they don't want to be there. I had to wait for their side conversation to end before they would even acknowledge me standing there. They weren't even talking about the restaurant! This sandwich used to be large enough to serve two people. That is no longer the case. The quality of the food was subpar. The potato salad tasted like that same potato salad you get from grocery store and bring to pot lucks. We all know the one! Their potato salad used to taste homemade and fresh. AMAZINGLY amazing sandwiches and salads. My husband ate the ( Hit man) on sourdough and didn't leave a crumb, he loved it and he's a tough critic lol. He also sampled another sandwich ( the boss) on wheat and it was hands down a bomb sandwich. As for myself I couldn't get enough of the chicken pear Gorgonzola salad. Such a filling and wonderful salad with a mixture of good flavors. Cleanliness is always big and the place was very clean and the staff was very very nice to us when ordering. The manger Luz was exceptionally helpful and we don't find that often at restaurants nowadays , she was a true face to the company. Everyone was right about the sandwiches: they are stuffed and portions are large enough to split. We tried the Sloppy Bronx, which consisted of roast beef, a hot link, American, Swiss, jalapeno, and jack cheese, fries, and coleslaw. My rule of thumb is to choose the namesake item on the menu, and thankfully, that maxim did not steer us wrong this time around. The Sloppy Bronx tasted great. The meaty roast beef, the hot and juicy sausage, the melted cheese, and the fries created an interesting combination that somehow melded together harmoniously within the baguette. We are huge sandwich fans and coming from Arizona we compare any sandwich place claiming to be the best against our beloved Ike's. This place had some high points but fell short for sure. First of all a young man named Roberto manning the customers at the front seemed entitled and bothered to help us. We had a table of 7 and each of us ordered a sandwich. I'd assume for a relatively empty restaurant he'd be happy to accommodate us. It would definitely help Bronx to train him with better customer service skills. I asked him if he'd mind washing our table after I wiped it down myself but it was still sticky. He looked at me and then pointed to his pregnant female coworker and made her do it. She was happy and helpful. But his customer service fell very short. The employees were arguing with one another and there was just an overwhelming attitude of unhappiness. Maybe this was due to the fact that it was swelteringly hot inside, there was no working A/C and it was not pleasant. The men's bathroom was occupied the entire time by an employee and not available to us the 35+ minutes we were there. The food is the only redeeming quality during our experience. The philly, hot mess and Bronx were really good. The ingredients on all of our sandwiches were fresh and substantial. I agree there is a lower than average meat to lettuce/toppings/bread ratio. But the flavor was delicious. The pastrami is up there with the best I've had. Good sandwiches, good bread. They don't serve a proper Cobb. There was a fried egg on it instead of a hard-boiled; they serve it with Ranch; and the turkey is thin-sliced deli. It's a sandwich shop so the deli meat wasn't a terrible surprise substitute for diced grilled chicken. Especially in a county that doesn't know what a Cobb Salad is. But a fried egg?!?! read more

I love this place! After the first time I tried this place, I came here 5x in 2 weeks. The best sandwiches I've had in the OC. Great quality meat and bread. Restaurant is nice and clean, but not too formal. It has indoor and outdoor seating. So far I have tried: The mobster: amazing! This one is pastrami and turkey on a baguette. The meats are great quality and blend perfectly together and the bread tastes nice and fresh. The only thing I did differently ordering it after the first time was adding pickles. Pastrami Reuban: the pastrami is delicious and I'm not a big fan of thousand island dressing usually, but this one is delicious and compliments the sandwich perfectly. Shrimp po'boy was so popular they started offering it everyday. Breaded shrimp served on a baguette with a side of red spicy sauce. Breaking doesn't have too much flavoring on it. The spicy sauce on the sauce really makes it for me. I've had better shrimp po'boy sat Cajun spots, but for just your local sandwich spot it's pretty darn good.
