We've been here before and it was fantastic! Tonight there was a bus load of people...we were patiently waiting and after 45 minutes we finally got our meals. Potatoes were so hard we couldn't eat them. Green beans were stone cold. They took care of us and gave us a gift card for our next visit. They also brought us dessert on them. i loved the old school vibe of this place, and the prices were pretty good. i had a giant plate of fried clams and oysters and it was bigger than my face. I would have paid the same price for 1/2 what they give you, definitely enough for 2 people to share. the waitresses were delightful and i absolutely enjoyed my experience. the 5 dollar pie was however pretty meh. i was expecting a giant piece of pie like they picture in the menu, and it came out and looks like store bought boring pie. I'd go back and try something different next time, but I can't only imagine how crazy this place is in the summer time when the area is full of vacationers. read more

Stopped in at noon on a Sunday and were disappointed with the limited lunch menu. We had wanted sandwiches for lunch. The salad bar looked inadequate, so we ended up with a haddock sandwich, chowder and chicken tenders with coleslaw. The food was delicious but the chowder, although looking homemade looked like heavy cream base, and I think I need a cholesterol check now. Shortage of vegetable side dish options. My least favorite 70's songs were all played during the duration of our visit. Waitress stopped by frequently except when we were done, then we had to wait about 10 minutes for her to appear. Sustainability-wise, straws were not optional, but were presented in our drinks. So I was not surprised when the small leftover box I requested was styrofoam. read more

She came back sorry we don't have any Coors light. We ordered something in stock. We waited a long time for our drinks. She came back to take our lunch order. We ordered the calamari as our appetizer. It came out cold and there were literally eight little rings for $12 or $14 dollars. You could not chew them they were like rubber bands. We ordered lobster rolls each for lunch. We waited a long time for food with empty beers on our table. There were only eight people in the whole restaurant and three waitresses. Where did keep disappearing too? Finally our lunch was served. The toughest lobster I ever tried to eat. The French fries were to best part of lunch ( I ordered them As an extra side) they were also cold. During this whole experience we had plenty of time to gaze out the window. To our amazement the little Main Diner across the streets parking lot was full and people were lined up for food and waiting to get inside to dine or outside in their tent. You couldn't get another car in the lot. I guess we picked wrong. It's a heads up to anyone wondering DON'T go to this restaurant go acrosss the street to the Maine Diner that many people going in and out it must be great food!!! read more

Poor food and poor service. I order an open face steak sandwich for lunch. What I got was an overcooked 6 ounce piece of gristle on 2 pieces of burnt toast with potato chips. My wife had boneless BBQ chicken fingers and had to pick through to find any decent meat. First time in a long time we left more on our plates than we ate. read more

We take a ferry and then drive over an hour for this restaurant. The service is terrific, but we go mostly for the salad bar. They work hard to keep it fresh and delicious. It's hard to find a good salad bar today and theirs always has a good selection of fruit, veggies, and salads. read more

The only negative experience we had during our entire trip to Maine and Massachusetts. We went to the breakfast buffet and after waiting almost 30 minutes to be seated, we waited another 15 to get food, and then learned all the fruit was gone and they were not putting any more out. Apparently, they only put a certain amount out and when it runs out that's it, even if you paid full price for the full advertised buffet. Had high hopes for this place. The waitress was very nice however the food was just mediocre. I had scallops and they were gritty like the sand wasn't washed off. We were in Maine and remembered this restaurant from years past. We decided to go again for old times sake. It was probably the biggest disappointment of our eating out experiences we have had in years. The salad bar was missing items and dirty and unkept. We received our meals. My meal was fish and chips. Pretty much inedible as it was loaded with oil. My wife ordered the small lobster roll. It was tasteless. We chose not to eat anything and told our uncaring inattentive server that the lobster roll wasn't good, and she came back with a snotty " what's wrong with it" my wife said it was tasteless. She supposedly went to tell her manager and never came back. When we finally found her so we could pay our bill she made no mention of speaking to the manager. My wife asked did you speak to the manager, and her response was there is nothing wrong with it. Well we paid our bill and looked at each other and said we would never return. Every restaurant has a bad night every once in a while, but to be rude and uncaring is inexcusable. By the way I have never posted a review on anything and waited almost a week to post this to be sure I wasn't over reacting. There are tons of great restaurants in this area, please patronize one of them. No stars read more

We were yelled at by a staff person because we tried to lower the window blind. No sign on the window indicating this violates a COVID guideline. Yelled at my wife and then walked away as my wife was trying to ask if we could move to a different table to be out of the sun. We will be telling EVERYBODY we know about our experience. Went for Mother's Day Brunch. Place is filthy, food spilt all over then place...and even worse the man making omelettes had no spoons or tongs to scoop the ingredients...he was using his bare hands with no gloves. He was touching everything around him as well. No sink nearby to wash his hands in between orders. No clean towels or cleaning fluid. Food left on the shelf by the fireplace with no refrigeration- bags of food on a dirty floor..Looking back into the kitchen no hair nets or gloves anywhere. Dishes were also not clean and were being wiped by the same dirty towel. When asked to speak to the manager she was too busy to speak to us as she was also a server. Did not address the issue with the man scooping food to be cooked bare handed. What a dirty disgusting place. Will be calling the board of health on Monday. **thanks for the response but seriously how about a response that means your taking action to prevent this from ever happening in the future : how about a response that clearly states "we will meet the state food handling laws in the future." Its one of those times that I wish we could give half stars, because my experience really was a 2.5 stars experience at best. Long story short, I wanted to keep my lunch light (both on calories and cost) and was pleased to hear this place had a soup and salad bar. I stopped in during lunch and after a 5 minute or so wait, I was seated. The salad bar was "cute" in appearance but lacking in variety. The soup bar was... well, not even worth a second visit. Very, very uninspiring looking with a choice of 2 "straight out of the can" looking soups along with two bread rolls that did not appear anything approaching fresh. The limited lettuce selection was crisp and what few sides were there were also fresh tasting, but again lacking in selection. Passing on dessert I did keep the cost within a good budget amount, so Im happy about that, but when Im back in Maine, I don't see myself stopping in again. read more

We stopped here thinking it would be a decent meal and not cost an arm and a leg. I got the soup and salad bar- there was a good assortment of food to choose from for the price. My husband ordered the lobster roll- so not what he thought he was getting. For close to $20 for the lobster roll, it looked like it was on a hot dog bun. He was expecting something that would fill his hunger, it didn't. The kids meals were a decent size compared to other restaurants. We spent over $100 on a meal to feed 5 of us. The cost in my opinion was quite a bit more than the quality and size was. Other reviews discussed the decor, yes it looked dingy inside, the place needs a makeover. We noticed the limp fake Christmas tree decor along the middle of the bench seating. The decor really isn't what we go out to eat for, it's the food. If we could, we would give this restaurant 2.5 stars. read more

Very outdated, my wife got the ziti and it was suppose to have ricotta cheese in it and it didn't. The pasta was over cooked and falling apart. I got the steak and stuffed scallops they were over cooked and charred on one end. The steak was ok, the veggies were good and the mashed potatoes came with no butter. Tasted powdered anyways. First of all the service was EXCELLENT! Our waitress was an absolute doll and so friendly and helpful. The portions were HUGE, and everything was tasty and done well. The wait was not long and the restaurant was quaint and clean. I had a mango margarita which was delicious (not very strong though), the clam chowder which was probably one of the best I've ever had, and the stuffed jalapeños in puff pastry, also very delicious and definitely stuffed! I tried a bit of the shrimp linguini which was decent. My family loved it here and the waitresses service definitely made the whole experience so much better! read more

We used to love this place, and come here about once a week. Not any more, sad to say. The food isn't what it used to be, and now they even charge extra for the salad bar, even when you order an entree that is $14. The decor and cleanliness? The whole place needs to be completely stripped out, deep-cleaned, painted, and the bowed bench seats need replacement. Fake little Christmas trees in July, even when they're covered with fake bright flowers, aren't kidding anybody. The place is looking shabby, and sad. I know the owner has had the place a long time, and maybe that's the problem. He needs to take a step back, and really look at what he's lost sight of. But my husband's meal which was lobster and steak was not good for what we paid. He said the steak was over cooked and no taste at all. This was the absolute worst restaurant I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I made a reservation three weeks in advance for 3:30 on Thanksgiving. After a half hour of waiting, I was informed that I have yet another half hour wait to get a table. The hostess is utterly useless as she barely whispers the names over a crowd of a dozen people. She is letting people without reservations take tables that should be RESERVED for people with RESERVATIONS. This is absolutely atrocious and I would strongly dissuade anyone from suffering this horrible horrible establishment. I will update with the food when/if I ever get a table. UPDATE: They are out of the Prime Rib which was what made this restaurant even an option. The food wasn't worth nearly what we paid for it. Maybe half or even a third..
