A friend of ours recommended to us Bun N Burger he and his wife say the food is really good and restaurant have a classic theme from many generations things you don't see anymore. Our friends tell us it's CASH ONLY bring cash or you have to walk two block to the CVS to get cash at the ATM. Many people come to Bun N Burger to have breakfast or lunch they enjoy the food. We step in the restaurant it feel like going back in time then waitress show our table and also hand us the menu. We were looking at the menu and decided what to order my wife order the chorizo plate and waffle and decided to order the Bun N Burger omlette comes with toast. The waitess brought the food it looks so good including my Bun N Burger omlette I took a bite the omlette was very favorable with the steak and onion,green pepper I enjoy it and also I like is the home potato very good especially the guacamole on top the omlette. I've gone here a few times and so far I haven't been disappointed but I wouldn't say I ever crave it so that's why I took a star away. I wouldn't drive out of my way to come here but I do enjoy coming here once in a while because it is convenient. Chilaquiles are decent but different from what I've had in the past. It is not bad but tastes more like nachos to me lol. I also tried the michaca which was pretty good. Service is great and the decor is definitely vintage. Amazing food at great prices. Sunday vibes are very chill and calm. The service staff always are sure to check in on you before, during, and after your meal. "I love this place!" - My 7-year-old. Needless to say, definitely a family restaurant that has been a staple of the Alhambra community for a good reason. First and Foremost this place is CASH ONLY. I've always seen this place on main and have always wanted to give it a try. I was able to dine in today and of course I had to get the bun n burger special. I got a simple cheeseburger that came with fries and a drink. The burger was good and your typical char broiled burger. The patty was thin but also large enough to fill up the burger. There is thousand island sauce, onions, and tomato also on the burger. The fries were cooked well and reminded me of cafeteria fries you'd get back when you were in school. Service is ok, but I'm sure being understaffed is a problem everywhere these days. I don't have high expectations on service either. If you're the type of person who wants every need catered to, you won't get it here. The space looks small from the street but it is a very large space inside. The inside takes you back to the 40s-50s with memorabilia decorated on the walls. Overall, this was a solid diner spot to get a burger. I'm glad an establishment of historic nature is still here. This place is just the best! Everything was well under control from the moment you come in, there was a sign to let us know which door to use, they let us know to use the bucket to put our umbrella in. The Hostess immediately sat us in our booth and she was so pleasant! Everyone was! I loved how they knew when we needed service and weren't overly attentive, though I over analyze my surroundings sometimes when I am just so absolutely enchanted and I occasionally confused them when I would look at them and they would think I need them. My bad. This place was just so heavenly! There was something to look at and things to learn. There is so much history in one little building. I haven't even gotten to the food! The food was incredibly delicious! I ordered the Hawaiian burger, which was hard to decide because of their wide range of varieties of food. It wasn't crazy, either. The reason why I think it could be a good omen was because it really set the mood. It went from super loud and busy, at least that's how it was in my head, to very calm and soothing. Once the people who were talking politics left, it was the best experience I've had in a long time. I kind of want to suggest having it dim there. Maybe add dim lights? It just really calmed everyone. It was pleasant. Anyway, this was a fantastic place! We really enjoyed our food, we enjoyed the service, we enjoyed the ambiance, everything was top notch! The best part of all? Our meal and drinks were under $30! How insane is that?! Oh! The fries I have to mention the fries! They were the most delicious fries I've had! Cooked to perfection! Crispy on the outside soft and warm on the inside! Salted just the way I like it. Some of them were so crispy, they were crispy even when I had them soaking in the burger juices. We sat outside this morning for breakfast. It appears this place is a hit with the locals and older adults. We were for an hour and noticed quite a few walking over or with friends to dine in. Retro and old school that's Bun-N-Burger. This location has been here for many years. The food quality here is good, not great. They are known for their hamburgers, but I feel the meat has changed over the years. In 2021, the meat doesn't seem fresh. It seems frozen. They have added other items like Mexican food, along with menudo which is okay. The building itself is cool, and retro. The service is still friendly, but the restaurant itself has lost its shine. Love this spot! Came on a Sunday morning and there was no wait, which was a plus! Our waitress seated us right away and took care of us super quickly. The folks would always get a good laugh when the waitress asked me: "Soup or Salad young man?" and I'd enthusiastically say: "Yeah, Super-Salad!", because I thought that was what she was asking... But I'm always game for a retro dining experience with counter service and olde-tIme memorabilia and knick-knacks to look at. FOOD, 4 stars. Because of my eating schedule, I had neither bun nor burger -- but breakfast. I ordered the bacon, cheddar, and guacamole omelette, which came with the meat and cheese inside and the guac on top. I was impressed that they use real eggs and not carton eggs for the omelettes (you could definitely see where white and yolk had not been perfectly whisked together), but the bacon was soft and chewy inside instead of crispy and there was a pretty big chunk of avocado in the guac was too hard to eat. The potatoes had a nice layer of browning from the grill but the rest was too soggy for my taste. I got the English muffin grilled instead of toasted, and the grill-side was crunchy and buttery while the other side remained soft. Even if they don't ask which you'd prefer, request it grilled instead of toasted. You wont be sorry! SERVICE, 3 stars. I may revise this upon a future visit, but this is based only on today, which was my first visit. There was a crazy long wait -- a good 45 minutes for my food. To her credit, my server warned me that there were a couple of big groups seated in the room next door that had just ordered, and that the cooks go in order of the tickets. I wasn't in a hurry so I said OK and didn't really mind, but I saw another customer get pretty agitated and threaten to leave. Even when the servers would say "They're working on it now," it was a little hard to believe because the food still took long after that. I did appreciate how apologetic they were and how they warned me up front (and gave me mustard without having to ask!). I wanted to like this place. We have so few old school diners left. When I comes to greasy spoons, I am very forgiving. I just couldn't do it here. The waitress was very short. Okay fine. No big deal. I had the steak and chilaquiles with the cottage fries. I was like eating a plate if mush. They should go with hash browns. The potatoes seemed sliced thin and boiled. They weren't brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside like good breakfast potatoes should be. The chilaquiles were tasteless mush. It didn't matter how I ordered the steak. It came well-done. I was also $20 without a drink. The place is so cool inside. I wanted to see all the pictures, but there is no way to look without hovering over people. It's an old school diner with the usual old license plates and style of decor, they have booths and a counter to sit at and that is just in the front. They have a dining room on the side as well. So what I like is the waitresses they're nice and personable, very attentive. Now for the food, I've had the chilaquiles twice with potatoes and steak. Big portions of potatoes and the steak is a good size comes with two eggs and onions and I'll be honest it could be sour cream or some other white sauce. It's good tho. They are a bit of a hit and miss with the flavor/seasoning, both times it was different but not bad just would like consistency. I'll keep going back tho can't beat the prices. read more

Est. 1941- This is a classic old school neighborhood diner. It's about as authentic as it gets, with one of the coolest lunch counters I've seen. The building is beautiful, inside and out. Don't let the name fool you, this place does a lot more than just Burgers. They also serve some great Mexican food, breakfast dishes, salads & sandwiches and more. The Carne Asada Soft Taco with Guacamole is excellent. The homemade salsa is fantastic. We also had the burger special which comes with homemade fresh cut Waffle Fries. For $6.50, you can't go wrong. And there is nothing more refreshing than their Cucumber lemonade - it's delicious. The service here is very friendly and helpful. You can tell that the owners of this family-run business are proud of the Bun-N-Burger, and they should be. Our server is a family member and has been working here for 35 years! During the current condition, they have plenty of socially distance tables setup outside. It's a shame to see their dining room and counter top empty due to the restrictions but I'm confident that Bun-N-Burger will survive and be back at it in full swing when this is all over. Came for breakfast recently and loved it! The specials selection sounded really good! The decor inside the place is that of an old Americana diner, which I loved.
