I don't know what happened, but Buttermilk isn't as good as it was years ago. The food lacks flavor and the chicken sandwich I got was dry, mostly breading and just honestly wasn't good. It was overpriced and our server never brought out the biscuit and jam we asked for, we were just so uninterested from the rest of the food that we didn't even both reiterating. OMG the food was absolutely beautiful from the cooking, to plating and the taste brought great pleasure. These folks know how to do it. Don't judge a book by its cover... the outside of this place looks small and gives hole in the wall vibes, which this place very much is but on a trendy level. I came in on a Saturday around 11:30, and I was told it would be an hour wait. After only 20 minutes my table for two was ready. I didn't realize how big this place was the further you went back! To start, I got the almond joy coffee and a Diet Coke. The coffee was dairy free, so I very much enjoyed. I also liked how the Diet Coke came in a bottle... I haven't seen this many places but I like it! For my brunch, I got the French toast with a biscuit, and my friend got a ton of sides: bacon, pancake, biscuit. My French toast was so good! I didn't even need butter or syrup on it. As for my biscuit, this is one of the best biscuits I've ever had. Not only was it huge(the size of my hand) but it was moist and didn't even need butter. I was disappointed with my experience at Buttermilk Kitchen before we even sat down to eat. The host asked for my name, and I explained that my sister had already gone inside to put our name on the list. When he asked for her name, I provided it, but he said he didn't see it. I simply responded, "That's okay, she's already inside." Instead of handling the situation professionally, he responded in a very rude tone, shrugged his shoulders, and acted dismissively. First impressions matter, and the host is often the first person guests interact with when arriving at a restaurant. Unfortunately, this interaction immediately put a negative start on what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. The food may be good, but customer service and hospitality are just as important. Still 5 stars. We've been going regularly. I'm at the limits of what I will eat here so I'm reordering old favourites. The smoked salmon dish is a good pick but it was a little too smothered in dill lemon cream cheese. I'm sure it was a one-off. Everything else was good. Those cornbread muffins... decadent. These are different from the bread service. The service really good. As an aside, there is a confidence that the servers all exude. They're comfortable & they know what they're doing & they're pleased to welcome you to their home. It's that kind of vibe. Make reservations bc wait times can be crazy. As much as I like this place, no way I'm waiting upwards of two hours for breakfast on the weekend. The best times to go are on the weekday mornings they are open. Still, make a reservation. Line the set up of this restaurant. It's like eating in a nice home. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we had everything we need. Now the food. The shop is busy, if you go on the earlier side. Parking is there, and it's free, but it definitely can get cramped if you come on an early Saturday morning. They have other areas but just beware that is limited. Depending on what time to go and you have to actually like outside in the patio area here now. You don't have to wait outside in nature LOL but they do have an area where you can stand around and wait for your table to be called. Again, depending on what time you go, you may be standing there for a while with it which people around you. The last time I went I sat at the bar, it was easy seeing. And you can get those at a first come first serve basis. Biscuit and gravy - Pretty decent, but didnt have as much flavor as I would have liked considering it gravy is supposed to be flavorful. Truffle potatoes - Really good flavor. Could have eaten a plate of them lol. Folded egg frittata - Basically a folded omelet, but its still good. I came here after seeing it on tiktok as "Atlanta's best breakfast." It was good, but it wasn't great. I believe it was around $60 for my boyfriend and I's food and we split a meal, got an extra order of eggs, a cinnamon roll, and a coffee. I would come back potentially, it's the best breakfast i've had in Atlanta so far, but could definitely be better. The service was pretty good. Walking in, I was glad we did because the place was plenty busy and a line of people waiting for tables. We got seated right away by the kind hostess. I got their The B.E.L.T. sandwich which was hearty without being heavy since it was packed with vegetables. My friend really enjoyed her Folded Egg Frittata which was light and airy. The Spiced maple chicken & grits though had to be my favorite. As someone who doesn't usually go for buffalo sauce or grits, I found this dish to be divine. To finish the meal, we just had to get a Solo Buttermilk Pancake even though we already had leftovers to take home. The pancake was bouncy and slightly salty in a good way. Came here during All State Game week and, although it was a little bit of a Lyft ride out from where we were in Buckhead, totally worth it. The front end is very small but allows for coffee and drink orders while you wait (and you will). Scrambled eggs were perfectly soft and my wife reported her fried egg had just the right amount of run - her favorite. My wife enjoyed her meal and alcoholic drink, though I forgot what exactly she ordered it had a lot of red potatoes and eggs. I preferred my meal. Coffee we ordered while in waitline to sit was good but overly sweet from the syrup pumps. I had a Drunken Peach drink to go with my meal, also excellent. Kind of different that they use butcher's paper essentially to act as table covers here. Felt Italianesque but Southern roots; I'm from the west coast so maybe thats customary around the SE and I'm the weird one? Not a big deal, reminded me of 'grandma's house' is all. Not the Ceacker Barrel experience, that's for sure. While passing through to the restrooms we learned that the Owner and restaurant were featured on Guy Fieri's 'Diners Drive-Ins and Dives". Validated the fact we ventured out that way for a really good brunch meal. Neat. While parking and wait time might be a challenge, especially in the heat and humidity, the food and drinks are great. I have been itching to try Buttermilk Kitchen since I moved to Atlanta, and now, I can finally say I ate at this amazing establishment. First of all, this place is very popular! And for good reason, because it was outstanding. 10/10!! When I first tried to visit a few years ago, they only took walk ins, and the wait was at least 2 hours! Apparently, they now take reservations (noting this for future visits). My husband and I were walk-ins on a Sunday morning around 10:30am, and our wait was approx 45 mins. We didn't sweat it, and decided to go down the street to kill some time until our table was ready. The inside of this place is so cute! It's very warm and cozy inside, almost like going to your grandmother's house. Our server was great! She explained everything on the menu and offered some really good suggestions as first time visitors. I ordered the chicken biscuit sandwich with pepper jelly and a side of pimento cheese grits. My husband ordered the pimento cheese and bacon omelette with a buttermilk biscuit and side of sauteed kale. Everything was absolutely delicious. The best thing was that our meals were so large that we were able to take some home. This has easily become one of my new favorite brunch spots in Atlanta. In my defense, I tried to come years ago and the cars were backed up into the street, so I left. I saw an influencer posting about this place and decided, "you know what, I'm going to go". I made a reservation for a weekday morning and showed up 10 minutes prior. The parking is tricky, but they have lots of signs so that you'll know where to park. I walked in and saw the bar was pretty empty, so I gave up my reserved seat for a bar seat. I like that better anyway when I dine solo. The music was like 50s, 60s doo-wop which was fun and made for an enjoyable ambiance. The bartender was amazing. She made great recommendations and everything was perfect. The coffee was my only gripe (it was a bit weak) but the iced latte more than made up for it! I ordered the chicken biscuit with hashbrowns. I added a side of eggs after seeing someone else's. One word, FIRE!!!! Lawd! I have been missing this type of breakfast. Everything was delicious, hot, seasoned, and that biscuit was A-1!! I am so planning my next visit. We didnt have a reservation but it wasnt too bad of a wait (44 minutes). The place is a little noisy but who cares, the food was solid and so was the staff! When we were finally seated, I was super excited about trying the waffle! BUT was seriously wanting a biscuit! Lol so I got both! Being long eyed! For my cocktail choice I went with the BOOZY BLUE-house blueberry-basil jam, lemonade, vodka ($11) SOOOOOOO GOOD! Must try! I am Hispanic and I do love a good kick, my daughter who was with me does not like and has no tolerance for spicy food. Neither of us could find the kick the waitress described.
