Frankly I am shocked at the review Jamie C. provided on 1/25/10 as it is so diametrically the opposite of what my wife and I experienced this past weekend. We went on 10/22/10 in order to celebrate our anniversary. Cadot had been recommended to us by a coworker of mine who is both a franco-phile and frequent visitor to the restaurant. We made our reservations through Open-Table with no difficulties. The restaurant is intimate, but I did not feel claustrophobic from having other diners too close by. Our wait staff was both very knowledgeable about the fare (especially the specials) and attentive. Bread basket and water glasses were never empty unless we wanted it so. We decided when ordering that the amount of food would add up quickly so we started by splitting an appetizer and a salad. Our appetizer was escargot which was served in a delicious herb and garlic butter sauce. My only disappointment was that is was served with too few of the crouton-type pieces of bread - but no matter the basket bread was fantastic with the combination of snail and sauce regardless. The salad was super fresh with a typically European mixture of bibb lettuce, candied pecans, and some mandarin oranges for garnish/color. I asked for the Roquefort cheese on the side as my wife is not a fan. All was quite tasty and we were excited about what would be next. For a main course I went for the Lamb Shank and my wife had the Cassoulet. Both looked beautiful upon presentation, and were for the most part very fine dishes. My only critique for the lamb was that it seemed inconsistently cooked in different parts of the shank. Some parts tasted wonderful while others had a very strong gamey taste. (Me just being picky). My wife's cassoulet on the other hand was very nice. The sausage and duck were excellent. Our only thought is that they used the smaller white beans and we tend to like it prepared with the larger beans so that it doesn't become so much of a bean porridge during the cooking. (Again...just being picky) The souffle is a must have and well worth the $10. I had the Grand Marnier souffle and my wife had the chocolate one. Frankly they were like eating delicious clouds. My wife also had the bright idea of mixing the two tastes and it was also awesome (orange-chocolate). They also told us that they were serving a raspberry one as well...Gonna have to try that some time... Ilia P. discussed their apple tart. Best restaurant experience in quite awhile. The food was great. I am a big fan of Southwest cooking and local chefs like Dean Ferring and Stephan Pyle's. Cadot Restaurant - Crab cake - French Near Me - Dallas, Texas

We went to Cadot to celebrate a special occasion. It was a very average restaurant with very average food. The food is fine and the ambience is fine but the thing that peeved me off about this place is that around 9:45pm, they started to clean up and move tables and chairs around us while we were still eating. If they intend on closing their restaurant by 10 then I don't understand why they even accepted an 8:30pm reservation. It's not like their service is very fast either. My husband and I are so excited to have found this restaurant! The food is delicious, service impeccable and the ambience, complete with accordion player, is like a little getaway in Dallas. Came here for the Cadillac Lunch for Restaurant Week. The pre-fixe menu this year offered chicken crepes in veloute sauce, the hamburger steak, and a cast of desserts. As we arrived, we were immediately greeted by chef Jean Cadot. The owner was at the host table. He adorned glasses and was in his white chef uniform. It felt nice to be greeted by the owner himself. The staff has been very hospitable given my guests have flip-flopped and had changed their reservations many times from yes to no within the past weeks; so i appreciate their patience. The server took our orders, we went for the chicken crepes, she had the creme brulee, salad and I had the tart and salad. The chicken crepes were delicious. The crepes where light and airy. A light yellow color with good brown color as well. Inside were bits of chicken. The veloute was rich, a beautiful brown color. As for the salad and the dessert, both were a bit underwhelming. Nonetheless the chicken crepes were good enough. Overall, it was a good lunch. I'd give it 3.5 stars if i could but i rounded up because the service was pretty good. read more

What an unbelievable dining experience! Located right off Preston Road, it couldn't be more convenient to get to. If you're looking for authentic French cuisine, you need to visit this place. My friend and I came here for Restaurant Week (of last year, sorry I'm just now writing a review for it). 3.5-4 Stars When walking in, we were seated right away. Lots of white linens, dim lighting, very romantic feel. The server was very friendly. Appetizer: we both ordered the escargot. It was pretty good, but not the best I've had. Entree: Salmon served with risotto. Both were good, but there was nothing outstanding about the salmon. I like risotto, so that's why I ordered this dish. Dessert: Panna cotta. One of my favorite desserts, and they made it very well here. This was definitely the memorable part of dinner. I wonder if this is on their menu the other times, if so I'll be here for the panna cotta. YUM! Overall, we had a good experience here for dinner. I mean, we had to because I remembered most of the food a year later. It's quite out of my way to get here, so I think I'd stop by if I was in the area for other reasons. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with reservations for our second anniversary. It was out first visit. I started out with the wild mushroom soup. I've never had such a tasty cream of mushroom soup! It wasn't too heavy and the portion size was nice. I also ordered the braised short rib. It tasted like pot roast on crack! The short rib was super flavorful and tender (no need for a knife, much less a steak knife). It's accompanied by a petite syrah sauce which takes the dish over the top. I'd recommend getting the horseradish on the side though. I love horseradish but it was a little overpowering. We skipped dessert and opted for cappuccinos instead. Cadot needs to open a coffee shop because they were excellent as well. Next time, we'll save room for dessert because the profiteroles and creme brule are calling my name. read more

We had been before for drinks at the bar, but last weekend we decided to try it out during Restaurant Week. It's a cute restaurant and the bartender makes good drinks and is very nice, and the happy hour prices are great on the martinis. They are just so short handed at the bar on both visits....she was running around and did her best, but the service is super slow. They really need to hire a 2nd bartender. The was pretty good but not great....this would've been because of Restaurant week so we'll come back and try again. My crepes were a little cold. My only other complaint was that when the hostess seated us we asked if we could get another table that wasn't be the door. She said no, the dining room was wide open (it was 6 pm) and offered no real reason or apology. Not that big a deal, but they probably need to do some training. read more

After enjoying the buttery-soft pecan crusted Chilean Sea Bass & flavorful & filling Paella, make sure you order the chocolate soufflé. Our server made sure to make suggestions on the dishes and the drink/wine pairings. Everything was amazing. The owner even came by the tables to make sure everyone was enjoying their meals. I can't say enough nice things about our experience here. The nontraditional escargot was fabulous - I could've eaten another 3 or 4 dishes to myself. The caviar was also presented perfectly, but honestly I will eat caviar with a plastic fork on Wonder bread if given an opportunity. Moving on to the entrées, my scallops and black truffle risotto were perfectly executed as was my husband's swordfish. An accordion player made rounds throughout our meal...just charming. read more

This unassuming restaurant from the exterior is quite lovely and charming (and bigger) from the inside. An accordion musician performs every Friday and Saturday evening, and will take requests. I asked for my favorite, "La Vie en Rose." Between the exquisite food, the beautiful restaurant and the romantic music, I was briefly transported to a charming cafe in Paris. The only difference? I absolutely love this restaurant because every time I dine there, which has been well over 20 times, the food is consistently delicious. There has never been a "miss". And the chef does not mind accommodating special dietary requests if needed. I love the foie gras served with pears, I love their salads, their fish dishes are excellent. It is French cooking at its finest. I've probably had the duck terrine at least 10 times. The calamari appetizer is also great. They have a nice patio which is heated in winter and has misters and fans for summer. The bar offers an extensive range. This is my favorite place to take special clients and friends for lunch. The food is pretty good. Prices are all over the place though. Reasonable $8 apps, and a few $18 ones as well. All in all it's like Mignon. But not quite as good. And a tad more expensive. In a much less hip/casual atmosphere. Most of the diners here seem to be of retirement age. That's awkward to say, but I think it'll probably help readers. If you want a little more casual, maybe a little cheaper, and better food, hit up Mignon. Nothing wrong with this place exactly, but I'd be lying if I didn't say we're leaving slightly disappointed. read more

I am by no means a foodie as I eat more for purpose and health. That said, if you want a yummy meal prepared exactly as you request it ... Cadot is the place. We ate here one time for Thanksgiving and I'm not sure I have had a better prepared turkey in my life. It was that yummy and the team is great here. The vibe here is subtle which is cool and it is definitely a 5 star service experience. They will not miss a beat and I've been here at least 10x and it is always a GREAT experience. Wow!!!! We had never been here before, but it got great reviews and was so close we took my mama there for her birthday. It was perfect! Our waiter Joshua was stellar! You simply can not find people like him! The food was amazing! Mother and I had the crab cake with risotto it was nothing but crab. So often there is so much filler you can hardly find the crab, this was nothing but Crab. The risotto was a creamy delight! My son had the goat cheese gnocchi in a balsamic vinegar reduction sauce. It smelled devine and he said it was the best gnocchi he's ever had. But the best part was the dessert. Our sweet waiter Joshua made sure we had champagne to toast the birthday, then he brought us the dessert and coffee, and what a dessert it was literally melt-in-your mouth beignets! Went there 2 days ago to celebrate our anniversary as we have in the last several years, excluding last year. We have recently started to go out to eat and all of the restaurants that we have gone to had all of their personnel masked. We were really surprised that none of the staff at Cadot wore masks which made us more than a bit uncomfortable from the outset. Regarding the food, everything was very good although we noticed immediately that the portions were smaller than in the previous years. We are not huge eaters, especially my wife. There was barely enough food to satisfy us and I mean barely. My mixed drink was also very weak and for $12 was really bad. When the dessert that we ordered was served, our waiter, Eduardo said that he was sorry that they wrote happy birthday on the plate instead of anniversary. We thought that since he knew that it was our anniversary and he saw the mistake that he should have them correct it before serving it rather than apologizing. It was piping put on the plate which could have easily been changed. We left agreeing that next year's anniversary or any other upcoming special occasion will NOT be at The Cadot! read more

I'm only reviewing the bar and the happy hour, haven't had the pleasure of having dinner here yet but let me at least talk about the appetizers and desserts. We have a bad habit of ordering everything from the appetizers menu and everything from the dessert menu every time we drink so we did just that at Cadot. First of all the chef helped us reserve a table at the bar and personally greeted us when we got there - big plus. They pass out free little slices of pizza for HH and they have great drink specials on cocktails and wine - big big plus. The top items were definitely the escargot and the mussels. The orgasmic moaning and groaning at the table when the escargot came speaks for itself, there some unidentified herb in it that just gives it a very fragrant flavor topped with fried spinach, perfect for bread dipping (so good we ordered seconds). The mussels were in a white cream sauce, each mussel perfectly cooked to tender perfection, clean fresh tasting mussels (again so good we ordered seconds). The foie groie wasn't the best though, a little overcooked :(. Now for dessert, the highlight would be the chocolate souffle which is so good its still running through my mind a week later. My goodness, can chocolate souffles be any more perfect? It's not too sweet, perfect consistency, not to eggy, and I'm not even a chocolate person. Each bite was like I died and went to heaven. We had the Apple tart as well and this is not your typical le madeleine apple tart, its baked on a thin heavenly crisp flaky crust with slices of apple on top, again not overly sweet like some places make it and just the best pie I have ever had and I'm not a pie person either. Next time I'll be here for dinner and try the entrees but so far solid 4 stars! read more

I can't say enough about it. I had the crepe wrapped halibut special. Started w escargot and tuna tartar. Every bite tasted like 5 star quality food. This place doesn't get the flashy name recognition like some if the downtown Dallas places, but it is just as good if not better than most of them. Great meal, ambiance, and service for the first visit. We usually go to Lavendou for french (been to St. Martin few times as well) and I think this place is the new go-to French for us. Much better ambiance, better service and better food. We had mushroom soup with brie, the bib lettuce salad, the dinner special which was veal osso bucco, and short ribs. The meats were both extremely tender and flavorful, the osso bucco in particular. The salad even impressed me and I usually dodge salads. We shared a glass of wine because we'd been in the sun all day and didn't want a whole glass each, but wanted the flavor and it worked out perfectly, it was a very generously poured glass of wine. This is NOT the place to show up in a tshirt and ball cap for a plate of wings. This is a place to relax, be made to feel at home and enjoy fine dining at its best. Pricing is not crazy for the quality of food and service received. Food is wonderful and the care in preparation and pride in the waiters serving it shows. Friendly and professional staff. I really enjoyed Cadot. It was late on a Saturday night and I was just in the mood for simple yet elegant comfort food and this place did not disappoint! My major complaint about quality French restaurants is that they seem too self-conscious for diners to be comfortable, but this great spot is obviously more about food and comfort than it is about image. The dining room is well decorated in a style that wavers between mod minimalism and Rural Rustic, but it does both well and is comfortable, elegant, and inviting, but not pretentious or haughty. The staff seem invested in ensuring you have a good experience and an enjoyable meal. Had the iceberg wedge, clearly not a French concoction but with fresh blue cheese and poached pears the continental twist was noticed and appreciated. The braised short rib was among the best I've had, and the apple tart was sublime. I'll definitely return again, and encourage friends to try it out. After viewing so many reviews on yelp I decided to go candor for BDay. However the dishes were disappointed. We ordered lamb and pork rib. And lobster soup and other appetizers. The lamb was juicy but lack of flavor. I even thought the sauce comes with it tastes like Mexico bean sauce. The pork is just normal. However, I rate it 3 star for the good service as it should be. And the chocolate cake they gave us as free gift. Thanks anyway, but won't come again. read more

Wonderful restaurant with delicious food! We came here for lunch and it was great. It was surprisingly mostly empty on Friday around noon so food was served quickly and hot. Had tasty bread as a starter. We ordered the potatoe crusted salmon with goat cheese gnocchi and the lunch social of portobello mushroom sandwich with sweet potato fries, both were amazing. Wish there were more three pieces of gnocchi though the salmon was perfect. The portions were good size for the price, even if it was on the pricey side for lunch. The sweet potato fries are some of the best we've had at a restaurant in a while. Topped it off with the creme brulee for dessert and it was yummy (could use more bourbon)! Knocked off a star because our waiter was slow and didn't come around often and we probably wasted 20 minutes or more just to get a dessert menu, the check, and pay to leave, which was silly because the restaurant was pretty empty and there were two servers.
