My very last meal while on my NOLA trip ended with Cafe Fleur De Lis. I ordered a basic breakfast plate, which included grits, but as soon as I had my first bite of the grits, I immediately wished I ordered the shrimp and grits instead. It was by far the best cheddar grits I think I've ever had. My breakfast plate came with bacon, sausage, egg, and pecan pancakes. The service was quick and overall I enjoyed eating here. It was convenient that it was also right down the street from the hotel we were staying at. My wait on a Monday was only about 10 minutes, so not bad either. read more

Located on one of the quintessential corners of the French Quarter, Cafe Fleur de Lis is like one of those you would walk by and say, "Huh! This looks good." And it is! Like a lot of other cafes and restaurants nearby, it's a lot packed in a small place. Fortunately, they also have more seating upstairs. I ordered the Creole Country Breakfast; two eggs, a smoked boudin link, grits and a biscuit. The plate came pretty quick and everything was hot and tasty. That smoked boudin is killer! The grits, creamy and delicious. The biscuit was fresh, fluffy and buttery - the perfect southern biscuit. The whole plate was just the right amount. Prices are about average, maybe a little more, than other cafes. But the food is good and the service is excellent. Would not say, "no," to coming back here. read more

We were seated on the balcony which was charming. we saw a second line from up there. They were already sold out of the fried green tomatoes and it was only 10am! On one of our morning walks we saw this place and decided to go in and get some breakfast and drinks. Had wonderful French quarter decor both inside and out. A young lady greeted us at the door and told us there was a little wait so we decided to walk around a little more. When we were seated by the window we were immediately asked about drinks and how we were doing. We both ordered espresso martinis (being that we needed both caffeine and alcohol, ha). For our food we decided to share the veggie omelette, she got herself an order of the bacon and I got a side of the grits. Neither of us were disappointed. The omelette was beautifully cooked, not dry, not filled with just mushrooms. A little cheese. Some spinach and tomatoes with peppers too. Beautiful. The bacon looked wonderfully crisp and candied. The grits however were the star of the show for me. Beautifully done. Creamy and decadent. Made with cream cheese I believe and finished with just enough butter. It was my last day in New Orleans and Cafe Fleur De Lis was on the same street as my hotel, albeit several blocks down. It was a freezing morning, so I hailed an Uber, to take me to this popular Breakfast and Lunch spot in the French Quarter. There were numerous people waiting out for their names to be called and I had to do the same. After about 20 minutes, I checked in again, pointed to a table becoming empty and was able to grab it. While the menu here is limited, it had good choices. My eyes were attracted to the shrimp and crawfish cake Benny, but I resisted. Had to have crawfish étouffée, one more time. The dish arrived at the perfect temperature, with the crawfish distributed amongst a well bodied and zesty creole sauce. There was a slight kick to it and it was the perfect mini reservoir for dipping in the crusted bread pieces that came with the entree. The rice too was optimally prepared and added more texture and contrast to this well executed menu item. Service was caring, attentive and superb. read more

Such a great breakfast spot. I stopped in this morning for an iced coffee and eggs Benedict. These were both amazing! They have an upstairs balcony with seating, as well as indoor table and bar seating. My mom recommended this place to me, and I'm so glad I stopped in. The food was delicious and fresh. The restaurant was pretty empty, with only a few tables with patrons. My food came out very quickly, and I loved it. I'd definitely stop back here for breakfast again. Came for brunch and I'd say it was a 4.5. I ordered the eggs Florentine with hashbrowns and a side of bacon. The hashbrowns came super mushy so I had asked the waitress if they could make it well done, it took the whole meal for it to come back. The bacon was a lot more fatty than I wanted it to be. The eggs Florentine was amazing though. My boyfriend ordered the popular big dish - blueberries pancakes with eggs, bacon and toast. He enjoyed his meal but also was upset about the hashbrowns. This place was close to the hotel we were staying so we headed out to eat breakfast. When we checked in, the host asked if we wanted to eat on the patio. It was a little chilly but we hadn't been on a patio yet in NOLA so we said yes. So glad we did. The morning sun was just hitting the patio to keep guests warm and it was a popular spot. I chose the French toast which uses biscuits as its bread base. Unique and very good. Husband had the Big Easy which was definitely big and not so easy to finish. It was a TON of food. Their breakfast and lunch menu is classic New Orleans fare, which worked well for our group of seven with varied brunch preferences. We had reservations and were seated about 20 minutes after checking in, despite the second floor being half empty. Service started off fine. We ordered quickly, and drinks and food began arriving about 20 minutes later. Three of us ordered the "Nawlins Sampler," which includes gumbo, red beans and rice, and crawfish étouffée. These dishes seemed to be pre-prepared and ladled from pots, so I expected mine to arrive promptly. However, only two of the three sampler plates came out. When I asked the waitress, she said, "We aren't done bringing out all the plates." I waited patiently and reminded her again five minutes later. Her response: "It's coming." Twenty minutes passed, and everyone else was nearly finished eating. I told her I no longer wanted the dish, but she brought it out anyway. I barely touched it; the moment had passed. What bothered me more was seeing "RUSH" written next to my order on the receipt, which confirmed it hadn't been entered properly in the first place. An apology would've gone a long way, but instead I was made to feel like I was being impatient. On top of that, we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity due to our party size, despite the lackluster service. My water was never refilled, and no one checked in during the meal. I got the seafood Benedict ($20) which was poached eggs, crab and crawfish cake on a biscuit. I opted to add hash browns ($3). I also got an iced coffee ($5). The food came out pretty quick and was very filling. The hash browns were not needed but at 10am you may not want too much of a fishy taste. It was a good palate cleanser. This is most definitely a good spot you should try while visiting New Orleans! On my second visit, I had to come back again! The pancakes were huge. I tried the pecan pancakes, maple bacon and scrambled eggs. In addition, it came with a shot of bourbon! My friend had the shrimp and grits. I can honestly say that we both cleared our plates. After a night in the town I needed a good hearty and filling breakfast. This place was surprisingly busy at 9 am with seating at the bar being the only seats without 15-20 minute wait. We sat at the bar and the service was still really good. I got the seriously southern breakfast and an extra side of hashbrowns. The entire meal was super filling and each part was perfect. They accommodated us at first, but after we ate and paid, their energy shifted quickly while we finished our coffee waiting for an Uber. Nice little breakfast spot on our last morning in New Orleans that's open for us early risers. The server was friendly, but rather than spacing people out she sat everyone tightly next to each other which given the interior of the building wasn't necessary.
