Scent has breakfast specials that will make any wallet leave with an ear to ear smile. They've combined a florist with a cafe, which is an odd combination, but it follows the theme as a whole. I have to agree with all the other serious reviewers who gave one star. I feel bad that my experience wasn't as great as the four and five stars have been raving about. In all honesty, the food is mediocre. Jenny P., please - it's obvious you don't know the first thing about cuisine or restaurants. Places that sell all sorts of items are usually no good. Now if Cafe Scent had a smaller menu, great - they specialize in a few dishes and can cook all of them well. Pizza, sushi, burgers... I don't know, somebody must be eating them as they remain on the menu (same with the place staying in business), but I wouldn't come here to eat those items. Coming from a family that cooks above average compared to most families, the stuff here is very basic and easy for me to replicate at home. I think this is not really a food place, but one where friends would hang out and blab for hours on end, hence the slow service and the dim lighting. That's probably why they don't even care that the servers take forever. It's fairly impossible - I think it's ridiculous I was forced to wait 20 minutes to order something. So much for "attentive servers", huh? Oh, well. Too bad for me. Granted it was Saturday, but I was the only customer besides a group of two older men who were almost done anyway. The place is well-decorated for downtown, but it stops there. Maybe if you're looking for a hangout spot, Cafe Scent is it! Otherwise, I'd pass on this joint. read more

I love this place it has flower shop in one corner and a coffee shop in the other it is very conveniently located on the first floor of the aroma spa building I always found their service to be excellent and their coffee and food amazing. If I could give them negative stars I would. So we went in and ordered two things off the menu: The hamburger steak and the seafood pasta. The hamburger steak came out first after about twenty mins into ordering our food. We were expecting for the pasta to come out soon after but it didn't so after about ten mins later we asked the server and he needs notified us that the food has been delayed due to how busy the restaurant was. We didn't understand how the hamburger steak could come out first if we ordered together and the order was placed the same time. So we ended up canceling the order for the pasta as we were short on time. I then asked for the manager to discuss this issue and he came out telling us that the hamburger steak was for the other table and it was a mistake and that during their "prime time" a fifteen to twenty five minute wait is expected "ALWAYS". So i argued asking why that should be an expected thing and if he knows that its busy shouldn't it be the responsibility of the restaurant to prepare for this time? In addition, if they know it will be busy, wouldn't it be good customer service to notify its customers on the wait time? No one is expecting to wait for their food twenty to thirty minutes for lunch. Then my friend told him its ok in Korean and he asked if we were Korean. Then on our way out, mind you, even after that rudeness from the manager, i still paid and even tipped for the poor servers with no professionalism, the manager has the nerve to stop us and try to argue that "if you guys are Korean, then you guys should know it takes a long time for the food to come out during lunch time" LMAOOOOO no dude. Thats not how it works. Restaurants actually try to create different menus to heighten their efficiency and speed on the food for people to come in and out faster during lunch time because those restaurant owners are AWARE of their customers lunch time crunch. Then he said that "all restaurants are like this in ktown." And i just walked away. What do you mean by if we are Korean?? This guy was completely racist!! Why does it matter if we are Korean or not?! Doesn't everyone deserve to receive good service?! This guy is making a hasty generalization of all ktown restaurants and putting a bad name for them. hidden under a sports resort (complete with driving range!) hidden in the middle of ktown, scent coffee and flowers has been the best 'hidden gem' i've found in la. here are some reasons why it's amazing... 1. open late!!! last night (saturday) it was open until 4am!!! today (sunday) it will be open until midnite 2. prices. ktown cafe prices irk me...i always end up paying 5-7$ on a stupid instant coffee or some other completely unworth-it-blah. here they have a breakfast menu (7-11am) that includes things like waffle+coffee, veggie omelet+coffee, french toast+coffee in the 4.99-5.99$ range. i did end up paying for a $5 latte but it came in a very tall (taller than my macbook) glass and was quite good (i would say more bang than your starbuck(s)) 3. food. i dread driving all the way out to ktown for a day of hardcore studying bc even though i know i'll prob get good work done and get to stay until the wee hours i usually have to uproot myself for lunch/dinner bc i've yet to find a cafe with a reasonably priced and appetizing menu. yesterday my study buddy and i shared the baked tomato seafood rice and pumpkin squash seafood rice cakes...it was actually a REAL MEAL---not a half-assed cafe food plate. it was very fresh tasting, the rice plate was reminiscent of paella with a korean twist. we saw people come in purely to eat and i can see why...this place stands alone not just as a cafe, but for its food... (in addition to the rice cake/rice plates they had a good selection of salads, sandwiches, and korean pizza (10.99) (like with sweet potato on top--a lot of other people ordered this and it looks really good...kinda like a scallion pancake pizza) 4. there are flowers and candles everywhere so it has this great romantic ambiance. a perfect place catch up with an old friend or hit up after a date at the driving range...ionno...all i do is flock to the power outlets and free wifi so i can be a nerd... 5. free parking for 3 hours in the sports resort garage and then plentiful metered street parking (free after 6pm and sundays) 6. noise level. even though a lot of people were there to powwow i wasn't disturbed at all. they also play peppy music but it wasn's annoying or distracting (maybe bc all the conversations and lyrics were in korean (which i can't understand) so it didnt filter into my eavesdrop-loving brain) they also had froyo machines (a la yogurtland) with sample cups just sitting there for you to take a mini froyo sample break as well as pastries, teas, pat bing soo, smoothies, and juices. we saw three tables behind us bring in their own cake (to celebrate something) and the cafe was cool with that. also someone bought a flower arrangement from scent (since its also a florist--you just have to come see it to understand) to give to what i'm assuming was the birthday girl. it was beautiful! scent coffee and flowers offers services such as: fresh cut flower arrangements, custom gift baskets, and wedding and event floral design (from their business card)...but don't forget its also a wonderful cafe ;) read more

I was walking around ktown and saw this cafe a lit but never entered. Today i decided to give it a try with my friend cause the picture of the promotional foods looked so great. The cafe is nice and cozy and the music is quiet for talking. Tables are really large so its just maximizes the comfort. The ice caramel macchiato came out in a huge long cup which was pretty awesome. My friend ordered a latte which came with a cute design. You cant go wrong with style. The price can be a tad bit more expensive than other places, but there are other places which charges like a 3 star restaurant. The portions here are great and price is totally acceptable because other restaurant are rising their prices a lot by the year. The pumpkin seafood rice cafe was so good. Its not too spicy. It has a half taste of spicy and sweet which people who cant eat spicy can enjoy with the rest of the squad. Another great plus is that water has lemon. Other restaurant have plain old water that taste like school tap water which i hate so much, but cafe scent has water with lemon that helps with digestion. Came here for lunch, sat and ordered fairly quickly but no sign of food for 40 minutes. Turns out order never made it into the kitchen. Restaurant was not busy at all - maybe four tables including us? I understand mistakes happen, but an explanation or apology would have been really nice. I found this place while waiting in between appointments, and I love it. It's like a sushi bar, coffee house, lounge with wifi! You can't really beat that...they have these booths on the side that are like "golden era" Hollywood Supper Club booths and you can disappear in them. They also have longer tables with plugs if you prefer that and you can sit across or sit next to people. It's not too loud at all and the people that work there are nice. I had a turkey sandwich, but it wasn't your normal sandwich - it has the cafe scent flare - it looks like a floral arrangement - I wanted to take a picture of it and it tasted great. They validate for 3 hours in the parking structure, which I find more convenient than cafe's in culver city where you have to keep running out to change in the meter. They also do floral arrangements and sell scented items, so it had an interesting decor with large mahogany tables, and a floral "garnish" about the walls...I can't wait to go back and try the other items on the menu - definitely unique! read more

Good atmosphere. the flowers arranged by professional florist are placed on every tables. I havent tried their foods yet but most people are coming for their foods and coffee I think.
