Tonight was our first time getting food from here, and we found the overall quality to be satisfactory. The menu lists a section labeled "Taco Tuesday Tacos," from which we selected their Battered Fish Taco Combo. This included two tacos and two side dishes; our choices were brown rice and kaleslaw. The fish was the star--flaky, white fish that had a crispy, flavorful, and non-greasy batter, complemented by cabbage and a creamy sauce. The primary area for improvement we noted was that the taco tortillas arrived cold, particularly when paired with the hot fish--giving an impression akin to being straight out of a bag with a raw-like taste and texture. The 'kaleslaw' was new for us and was quite enjoyable, boasting a subtle citrus undertone (to us), some cabbage (subject to confirmation), and a well-balanced amount of dressing--though a touch more dressing could be useful. The brown rice was flavorful but slightly under-seasoned. In summary, it was an enjoyable meal. With some minor adjustments, this could have been an exceptional meal. We had a grilled salmon plate and the fish and chips, and my husband said the batter was light and not overly breaded and one of the best he'd ever tasted. I had a mild sweet chili sauce on my salmon, and I would recommend something in their selections with a little more kick such as the Cajun or garlic. They had some good healthy sides to choose from such as kale slaw and tomatoes with feta if you want to avoid the carbs of rice. The only issue with the kale slaw was it could have used more of a dressing on it for a little more flavor. Ordering was really pretty easy from their automatic do-it-yourself menu machine at the front counter where you tap in your selections. I've been in too many really noisy restaurants, so I think this is a great invention. Had my order screwed up too many times from a worker just not being able to hear what was said. I'd definitely return and like to try some of their other fish selections such as the rockfish. The patio faces out onto busy Bellflower Blvd., but it's not really that unpleasant. Beats sitting inside noisy, echoing interior. Service was reasonably fast and they actually came back to the table and asked if you needed anything. I give them an A minus. read more

I didn't forget to come back because they truly did an amazing job with both my food and the customer service! The gentleman in the photo greeted us with a warm smile and was incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean, parking was easy, the ambience is very nice and a little more upgraded from the other location. and the food was delicious. My favorite thing to order is the Cajun salmon and shrimp, but I'm excited to try some new items on the menu next time. I will definitely be back soon. 10/10 experience! read more

You walk up and have the option to order from the kiosk on your own or order from the folks at the counter. I chose the kiosk because apparently I'm 5 years old and need pictures. I got the 2 lobster rolls and swapped the fries for tomatoes with feta and olive oil...trrrrying to be a tad healthier. the lobster meat was mild and consisted mainly a lot of little pieces. It was served on a buttery piece of thick toasted bread. The tomato side was really good. Vibe is a bit cramped and loud...not conducive to hanging out very long. read more

First time at a California Fish Grill at this new location! Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, wasn't too busy at all. Love the reasonable prices for a non-fast food option. My husband and I split the Cajun Swai Plate with white rice and fire roasted sweet corn. It was on the "Most Popular" section of the menu, so we thought it'd be a good choice for our first time. And we were right! The fish, rice, and corn were all well cooked and seasoned. The Cajun sauce wasn't bad, but we'll probably get a less strong sauce on our next plate because we wished we could've tasted more of the fish itself, as it was delicious. Like others have mentioned, you place your order at a kiosk and get a text when your order is ready, but the customer service was still great. While sitting at an outdoor table waiting for our food (plentiful 2 and 4-top outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade), an employee came out to clear a nearby table and asked if we were okay or needed anything. Unexpected considering we hadn't gotten our food yet, but great customer service practice to always acknowledge nearby customers. The overall ambiance is fast casual, but still feels clean and tasteful. So glad we decided to try this place today; we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

Recently opened Californua Fish Grill. Scalewise much smaller then the standard size one but ample seating inside and outside. Itxs set up with Kiosks at the counter for self-irdering or you can order on the app. There are also people behind the counter if you need help. You put your name in and when your order is ready, they call your name (and also a text if you have the app). The food all came out on real plates with real flatware. Very nice touch! Service was very friendly and helpful. The offered us cups for ice water while we waited. It didn't take long for our orders to come out. We ordered two plates. Lobster Roll plate came with two smaller sized rolls and fries. The Fish Tacos plate came with a drink and two sided. For $0.99 I upgraded the sidesto have salads, one Caesar and the ither Green. Salads were very good sized and we ended up taking them to go. Lots of options for sides! Lobster rools were good and the fish tacos were very good. With the lobster rolls you had the option to order butter or garlic butter to go with. We shared the dishes so we each had a taco and lobster roll. Perfect amount of food (with the salads to go). The truth is the quality for CFG has gone down hill in my opinion. I ordered the standard fish and chips. I also had a Mediterranean bowl with shrimp. Everything was bland and not well seasoned. Rice tasted like plastic. I didn't finish the meal. Some of the service workers seemed overwhelmed. I was giving this place another try as I haven't visited in about a year. The quality hasn't improved and I've been to multiple locations. I will stick with Luna Grill. read more

I'm a big fan of CFG! I've loved their fish and chips plate for many years. Until today.... A new location opened close to my home, so I went to have my favorite meal. Oh no! They no longer use cod, but have switched to a Swai filet. (This is a farmed frozen fish from Southeast Asia, similar to Talapia.) I do not prefer farmed fish! I'm sure the change is an economic choice, but I did notice a modest price increase. One of the reasons I loved CFG was that they used fresh wild caught fish. They have also gone to a fast casual format....order at a kiosk, pick up at the counter when your order is ready. (Formerly a customer service representative took your order and it was delivered to you when ready) The store itself is attractive, well lit, with indoor and outdoor dining. The staff is pleasant and friendly. If I return, I will carefully choose menu items with fish wild caught. read more

I was excited to see that a new fish location opened up nearby -- I've been sad ever since the fish place in Marina Pacifica closed. You can order at the kiosk or register. They had a worker answering questions at the kiosk, and all the workers were really friendly. We got the poke bowl, which lacked a flavor so we added some dynamite sauce. We got several sides with it: sweet potato fries, dynamite fries, Brussels sprouts and fire roasted street corn. We also got the honey citrus shrimp bowl, and the shrimp were delicious. I'm not a fan of their white rice -- I prefer a sticky rice -- so I think next time I'll try brown rice. The sweet potato fries were really good. Next time I'd order the sauce on the side for the dynamite fries. The other two were ok. They serve Pepsi, so we drank water. There are a few tables inside and a bunch of outside seating. read more

She was incredibly sweet, kind, and welcoming. I was picking up two online orders as well as another order through a food delivery app, and the entire process was completely hassle-free. She was prompt, efficient, and made sure I had everything I needed, even asking if I wanted extra sauces, forks, and napkins. I briefly lived in the Coachella Valley and would eat at the Palm Desert location pretty regularly. I was always a fan, so I'm super pleased they opened a location close enough to me in Long Beach. First of all the food. They pride themselves on 100% sustainable seafood and they truly cook their fish very well. We decided to go with the Wild Rockfish and I had with garlic butter and chose white rice and fries for my sides. My lunch was very delicious. I decided to treat myself and ordered a shrimp skewer for about four bucks extra and was super happy that I did. Service here is great. Employees are super nice and helpful. I find it funny that one of my complaints is that ordering is automated through a touchscreen. The two guys in front of me were clearly intimidated by this and it took them a while to complete their one order a piece. I saw employees being super helpful with them. I find it funny that I have issue with this because I'm annoyed that Long Beach made it illegal for grocery stores to have a self check out, so I guess you just can't please me lol. I will also say that it is super loud inside the actual eatery but luckily they have a nice quiet patio where I enjoyed my food. I will definitely be going back! read more

It's not as big however it's very clean., And organize. Service is very good specially food server her named Savvy. I had 2 grilled fish tacos that were delicious! Tasty and moist pieces of fish, enhanced with corn, red onions, lettuce and other chopped veggies. My friend ordered grilled shrimp kebabs that were juicy and had an authentic grill flavor, and a salad that looked fresh -- but zucchini that looked mushy and overcooked without any seasoning. She added salsa to the zucchini to give it some flavor. The inside seating area is very small and quite loud at lunchtime so we opted to sit outside on a very breezy day. I had seen the california fish grill go in awhile back. But the timing was never right to eat there. Finally , today I drove over out of my way because I was craving a fish meal. I got it "to go" so I could eat at home. When I got home , half of my fish was missing. I ordered a Salmon & Swi combo. Only had the Swi, no salmon. I pulled everything out of the bag to make sure I wasn't missing something. I threw the fish box back in the bag and drove all the way back to the restaurant. The young lady told the kitchen "add a piece of salmon into this order" I said, no, no, it's cold now. Please make me a new order. When the food was finally ready. I looked in the bag and there was no garlic toast that I paid extra for. When I pointed it out. The manager said, well, we'll do it this time but in the future , you have to bring the toast back. That was odd to me because I drove there and then drove home and then drove back.... I was thinking maybe they would throw in a dessert to keep a customer happy. But no, I walked away feeling like I had done something wrong and I guess I had. Because I had gone to the wrong restaurant. But don't worry I won't return. You asked what you could do better? Food is great as usual, but they have no business reducing the portion sizes while simultaneously increasing the price. Normally get the branzino with Cajun and butter sauce. Generally there is one piece with one sauce and one with the other. This time, they just put the sauces on one small portion of fish.
