We love going to Quack's for coffee and snacks. The staff are always super friendly/fun. They told us the outdoor area will be renovated. It's a little bare out there, but we enjoyed hanging out outside and scarfing down some baked goods / americanos. Hopefully they'll start booking some live music in their stage area soon. I'm giving this two stars because I ordered a carrot cake for Easter and it was absolutely delicious. But today I went back and I got a chocolate cake a vanilla cake and the cute shaped cookies. The chocolate cake was OK but it's too dense and the icing is not fluffy at all. The vanilla cake was probably the worst vanilla cake I've ever had. It was dry and dense and looked like it was wet with oil but still solid as a brick. No good. And the icing is so dense you practically have to cut it with a fork and had no flavor. The sugar cookies are super cute but they were also dry. Bummer. read more

Great coffee but very subpar cinnamon rolls. No indoor seating at the time, just outdoor spots. The coffee was perfect to have outside on a winter day. The cinnamon roll...it was extraordinarily dry and tough. It took serious effort to bite off a piece. The icing then crumbled and fell off, unable to withstand the tearing necessary to eat the pastry part. Maybe it was particularly hard to eat because it wasn't heated up, or maybe it was just an off day. I'd probably go next door to Austin Java for food though. read more

Awesome coffee, great selection of pastries, and they sell cakes by the slice and whole! Cute and fun space decorated nicely with some limited seating due to Covid which is completely understandable. The staff is always friendly and their double chocolate chip muffin is delicious. Alternative milks are offered and there's ample parking which is nice! read more

This was my first time trying out this place. They have a wide range of options when it comes to the bakery. They also have a very nice coffee speciality drink selection. However, while the baked good may be affordable, their deli and coffees are not. ($7 for a sandwich) The Vegan Double Chocolate Muffin was delicious, it was also pretty hefty for $2.10. I would buy it again. The staff are also very nice and helpful, the best to interact with. read more

We came here yesterday to grab a quick something for breakfast. I ordered the blueberry muffin which was good. Probably the best thing I ordered. I also picked up a chocolate chip cookie that was subpar. I wouldn't order it again. I also ordered a mini red velvet cake that was gross. The cream cheese icing was a weird flavor. Definitely not sweet. My cupcake also had a whole ass peppercorn in it. The first bite I took set the tone for the rest of the cupcake. I might have just had the bad apples in the bunch but I probably wouldn't come back. read more

I've been meaning to stop by for awhile and I'm so glad I finally did. The place was very clean and bright, the customer service was great. We got cold brews which were large, affordable and delicious. I got a coffee cake and my partner got a danish and a scone. All three were amazing! Will make it a Sunday tradition. read more

Staff is super nice and the treats are so delicious! They serve wild gift coffee and the hibiscus iced tea is awesome. I'm so happy this space is back in use and can't wait to see what Quacks does next. Can't wait to take advantage of the outer space when spring arrives. Update: so glad to see y'all back open! Great spot to get a coffee, pastry or sandwich--plus much more. Thoroughly enjoyed the toasted oatmeal cookie and ice coffee recently while my brother enjoyed the turkey and monterey jack cheese sandwich (panini pressed), which comes with a bag of chips and a pickle. Friendly staff, great layout, music laid back and ample dining space indoors and out. If you find yourself 6-7 blocks north of Ben White on Manchaca, I recommend stopping in and giving Captain Quackenbush's an assay. read more

Bad espresso drinks. Seriously, just get the drip coffee because some of their employees don't know what they are doing. Decent pastries. Being nice and friendly with customers is great and all, but you should have the decency to be politely curt with your customers if there is a line of people waiting. I haven't been in months due to bad visits, and it's stuck with me to the point that I felt this review was warranted. Say what you want about Strange Brew's staff, but they at least knew how to make coffee. A stain on the legacy of that music room. Sad. read more

This is exactly the kind of neighborhood coffeeshop/bakery that people who actually live here go. A great place to hang out (on your own or with a crew), listen to eclectic jams (they'll play The Well and Death From Above 1979 like it ain't no thing) and sip on a Vietnamese coffee (or a beer- but the Vietnamese coffee ought not be slept upon). Great customer service and would recommend if in the area. I drove from out if town to try it today and was not overly impressed for the drive I made. I had a slice of peanut butter chocolate cake, a slice of coconut cream pie, and an iced cinnamon roll. Yes, I tried all three. They were good, but I think I had my expectations set pretty high. The cinnamon roll was the only item that tasted like it was fresh. The pie and cake were kind of drier like they may have been in the case for a couple of days. I think maybe the cinnamon roll warmed up with butter would have made it more impressive and a fresh slice of pie and cake might have made it worth the drive. read more

I visit Q's for their awesome baked goods and consistently good coffee, but today was a fail. I got an iced soy latte like I always do, but this time it tasted burnt & extremely bitter. When I took it back, they just made me another one. She never tasted a sample herself. Second try was just as terrible. Finally, I just requested a refund. I suggested she check it out, trying to be helpful. She replied that they hadn't had any other complaints. I'm disappointed that she would say such a thing without tasting it. Perhaps if she tasted it, she could've informed me that maybe it was a different roast or coffee. I expect better & have always been treated with respect by the wonderful staff until today. I love your establishment & only wrote this review because gaslighting customers is definitely not good business. read more

I believe we had the first called in order for the new location down south. If you reference my review for the sister location up north you know I'm stoked off these treats but traveling to north of the wall to winterfell is too far of a trek. The food quality and service of the new location are fantastic plus the layout is amazing. I'm so happy this has come to the south side !!! read more

Oh Captain Quakenbush's how I love thee. So much so, I travel from San Antonio to get your incredible fudge cakes. My co-workers are hooked on you, and always ask me to get one of your cakes for their birthday. There isn't any bakery in San Antonio that holds a candle to your quality. And your service is beyond awesome. You customize cakes on the spot, and your employees treat customers like friends. And I love the awesome attitude and vibe of your bakeries, so chill and inviting unlike the places in San Antonio that act like they could take or leave your business and overcharge for mass produced cakes. Not you though. You really put your heart and soul into your bakery, you always use the freshest ingredients, and you can taste it in everything you make. I have had cakes from bakeries in San Antonio that are no where near your quality and charge double the price. Thank you for being so incredibly awesome! Austin you are so lucky! read more
