I was staying at the Marriot so I went to the Captain's Table for breakfast. I got the french toast, grapefruit juice, white toast and home fries (sliced potatoes). I like to add melted cheese and sour cream on top of the potatoes. I didn't get the name of the waitress (probably college aged girl) but she was very polite and had a very positive attitude so I left a very nice tip for her. As a preference, I think they should consider adding hash browns to the menu in addition to the home fries. read more

Speaking of which- pop classics of the 60's and 70's, my era, just do not match the ambiance of better dining. Cool jazz might work better. Some minuses from our experience: Md Crab soup, though hearty, looked like chili. Dinner rolls were cold. Steaks were fatty. Big plus: service. Still, something isn't right here. The service was good. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The food was eh. The French onion soup was a cup of warm salt. One of our meals had jasmine rice. Take it from a person who has microwaved rice, that's exactly what we got. The rice was over heated and couldn't be eaten. It was a clump of hard rice. We did tell the waitress and was told by another team member that it was due to having students in the kitchen. How that quantifies for an excuse is beyond me. We are spending money to have it served properly not below average microwaved food. McDonald's would serve it better. My sirloin was ok. I prefer my streak uncut when served. The mash potatoes were cold. The location and ambience is convenient. That is the only reason this location was chosen. The breakfast was OK but their menu was NOT the same as it was a couple years back. It was way smaller and if we knew that ahead of time we probably would not have come. My husband really enjoyed the crab hash and looked forward to getting that this time only to find it was no longer on the menu. The waitress was super friendly and welcoming. Everything was perfection! My evening started with a perfectly dirty martini! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. She made for a pleasant experience. Captain's Table is one of those 'old school' places to eat in Ocean City. The clientele tends to be 'older.' There's a piano player on the weekends who plays stuff from the 60s, 70s and 80s. You have to be a certain age (over 50) to recognize the tunes. As for the food it is 'meh' to abysmal. I ordered the seafood risotto, took a couple bites and that was it. It was a thick, gloppy mess. Lesson: don't cook or order risotto if you are not in an Italian restaurant where they know how to cook risotto. My wife had a seafood stew that had WAY too much salt in it. We went there a second night (we were staying at the Marriott--they give you a $25 coupon to try the restaurant. I had the steak--it was OK. We both ordered seafood bisque. Again WAY too salty. Not sure I could recommend the place for the money. read more

The osoboco was ok it was extremely fatty and had a strong flavor almost like a game flavor. For the price there are better places to goto in the area that are better and cost less. The margarita tasted like it was a mix for $14 it should have been fresh made. The rice was very tender I wish they hadn't of put all that gravy on it and served it on the side. read more

I stumbled upon this place while looking for brunch one morning while in ocean city. It is inside the Marriott on the side street of the boardwalk. It was a pretty stuffy place inside, which I guess is to be expected with it being in a hotel. That didn't really bother me because all I was looking for was a good meal. Unfortunately, they did not deliver. I ordered the crab hash which seemed to be one of their signature items. The hash included lump crab meat and was topped with an egg. The individual Items of the hash, especially the crab meat, were pretty good, however everything did not come together in this dish. The flavors just did not compliment each other well. I also think the dish could have used a sauce of some sort, as it was rather dry. For the price I would definitely have gone elsewhere. read more

After looking at the top ten restauranT list, I was very disappointed with our evening meal. The food was extremely over salted and unappetizing for the cost. Our waitress was literally running from table to table trying to cover the guests which did not help matters. When a dropped item was tossed into the dumpster in less than fifteen minutes of our departure, that took away any opportunity for them to redeem themselves. So we were hoping for a nice dinner out. So I made a reservation. I want to say up front that our waitress was great. But the chef / kitchen were the ones responsible for ruining our dining experience & why we left. My guest ordered the pan seared salmon (which was fine) and I made the mistake of ordering the $43 lobster dish which claimed to be 1 & 1/4 lbs of shucked lobster. What came out was maybe 1/2 lb. of lobster (the size of 2 shrimps) and still in the shells I gave the kitchen the opportunity to make it right but they opted not to. So I paid for our drinks & my guest's salmon & we left. VERY frustrating & disappointing. I worked in the food service industry for years. That was ridiculous. Shame on you chef. Not ok. Could have been amazing if you wanted to do the right thing by your customers vs. get over on them. read more

I attended a party in one of Captain's Table Restaurants private rooms. The food was excellent and the waitestaff was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing good about this place is the piano Man. The service is awful even with reservations. It took 15 minutes to get a drink the waitress didn't come back to check on us. We weren't sure about a seafood restaurant located inside a hotel, but there weren't a lot of choices, and my 1st and 2nd choice didn't have any tables. We walked a few blocks from our hotel to check it out. The hotel has more updates than the restaurant. I thought it was going to be nicer than it was because of the prices, but it was a little dated. Our server Dee was wonderful, and all the staff was friendly. We started with an orange crush and strawberry lemonade which were both delicious. We ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and shrimp cocktail and thought so far so good. The shrimp and scallops were large and tasty. I was disappointed the option for mango salsa wasn't available for the fresh catch. And also disappointed that the fresh catch was from the Gulf, so not that fresh. It was a good piece of red snapper though, although the macadamia encrusted option was a little bland. I should have gone with the blackened. I was also disappointed that the potatoes weren't real and the vegetables were frozen. You can't charge $39 for that. RJ enjoyed his steak but had the same instant potatoes and frozen vegetables. We had chocolate peanut butter pie that was from the freezer as well. This was 5 star pricing for a 2.5 star meal, I'm only bumping it to 3 because of Dee's great service. read more

We ate here for dinner one night. Most of us at the table ordered from the lite fare or kids' menu. Everything was excellent and very affordable. However, the highlight was our server Sam. She was the best! A great server makes going out to eat such a lovely experience. She was just so friendly to our kids and gave us a couple of attractions to check out while in town. We also came to bfast one day hoping to run into Sam again. She wasn't working that day, but our server Michelle was also wonderful! We had a group of 9. She was so friendly and accommodating. this was our first time to come to Captain's Table , the restaurant itself is casual and a bit outdated in decor so we were worried about the food but fortunately everything we ordered was excellent- we were pleasantly surprised. Had dinner here one Monday evening in early October and it didn't seem as good as when we'd visited previously. Everything adequate but not super -- shrimp cocktail sauce had had a red pepper added as did the crab soup yet the crab cakes didn't seem spiced at all and the green veggies were drenched in olive oil. While service was good we get annoyed with waitpersons whose mask is below their nostrils and there was a lackadaisical quality to the table wiping after customers left. They charging high prices and should be doing a better job. But it did beat pizza and other beach junk food. read more

We decided to splurge and go to this restaurant that have been highly recommended and have been in the community for 60 years. What we got was an overcooked an edible tomahawk steak that we had to send back after 50 minutes the lobster tail which was supposed to be a pound I don't believe it was the manager came over and said that the tomahawk should've never come out since I ordered it medium. They took 20% off of our bill and asked what he could do to make it right and someone had raved about the peach cobbler and I said well if if you would like to give me dessert he did not have another tomahawk steak so I ate the potatoes and carrots Brought out the peach cobbler. We came for an overnight stay at the Courtyard. It was around 8pm on a Sunday so we didn't want to walk too far as things close early due to Covid. We decided to eat at the hotel. The beverages were pretty good. I had a peach Sangria which wasn't bad for $9. For entrees, I had the basil pesto chicken and a house salad with ranch. The entree was $24 (one of the cheapest things) and salad was $3.50. I don't think it is worth the price. Of course everything is priced high because of it being a beach area... but it just wasn't worth it. My mom got the crab cakes which were good but $38. Our service wasn't great. We asked for our beverages and water. Had to ask for water again. And then we ordered crab dip but never received it. There were only about 3 other tables so I feel like service should have been top notch. read more

We came here originally because everywhere else had insane lines and we could make a reservation here. While the menu isn't huge the food we had was AMAZING! First we had crab guacamole. It was almost like a bruschetta with guacamole and a ton of crab with some type of olive oil butter sauce that you would get on clams. This was a huge hit for us loved it. My mother had the scallops she said they were great. My father had the seafood scampi he loved it. I had the chicken creamy pesto. The chicken was thic and juicy the sauce was really good. I loved it, huge portions so we have left overs. We also had a blueberry tart cheese cake and a raspberry cheesecake and a brownie Sunday all were good but the brownie Sunday was the best. Fresh and hot. The cheesecakes were rich as expected in the future I'd get the brownie again. read more

This has to be the most underrated place I've ever come across on yelp. The hotel it's in is beautiful and the restaurant itself is aesthetically appealing and comfortable. I sat at the bar, Iris was my bartender, very good at her job and also great personality! I briefly spoke to a few other of the staff including the GM and all weee very real and personable. I ordered the small garden salad, it was gorgeous and all I want in a small salad, then moved in to the cream of crab soup, rich with large lumps of crab and perfect flavor and consistency for my entree I went with the shrimp and grits, as it's a personal favorite and this is the only menu I've seen it in down here. It was gorgeously presented and one of the best versions I've had! I finished it all off with a turimisu martini. Yum yum. Thinking of checking out their daily 4-6 happy hour as all their apps are only $10! Either way I'll definitely be a repeat customer when I come to OCMD! read more

Ate here twice during our recent visit to Ocean City. Service was friendly and accommodating, no complaints there. The menu was rather small and was the same both nights. This is a free standing restaurant located within the Marriott where we were staying, so no room service, although they did offer takeout. But we chose to eat in the restaurant as it had a lovely ambiance. The crab soup was outstanding, had it both nights. The Brussels sprouts dish is very unique and delicious. We also tried the salmon and the risotto and both were good, although pricey. If you are staying there or nearby, I would say to give it a try. read more

Went for Christmas Eve and we were so disappointed! Started off with martinis, asked for blue cheese stuffed olives which we can always get at other nice OCMD restaurants. No, not here. Got the shrimp Parmesan app and a Caesar salad. Shrimp was just ok, salad was really not good. Ordered the large lobster tail, it was undercooked and just gross. That will be our last visit. A wonderful upscale restaurant just off the boardwalk in The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. We went here for my birthday thinking it was more moderate but were pleasantly surprised to find it upscale but not "stuffy". I did feel underdressed but for a beach resort, casual light is appropriate and most guests dressed that way. There was a live piano player and the ambiance was light, modern and what you would expect from a five star restaurant. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The prices are good for a restaurant like this. My only drawback was that while the service was good, our waiter was not as attentive as I would expect. Not bad but a few lapses in attention leaving us without s drink or food for a while. Other than that, it was too notch! I had a 14oz Ribeye and my wife had Shrimp Scampi. Two drinks each and with tip, the bill came to just over $100. The food was excellent and perfectly prepared. An excellent choice for steak and seafood! read more

We always go here when we are at the beach,mostly for the cream of crab soup. in past years every spoon full was loaded with crab and I do mean loaded. on this Aug 2023 We went and of course ordered the cream of crab soup. Well to say we were shocked would be an understatement. In this big bowel of soup was a light teaspoon of crab. The soup part of it was delicious but almost zero crab. don't waste you money. We complained and they did not charge us. The table next to us heard our conversation and said their soup was the same. So it is clear to me the absence of crab was not a mistake. The Scallops were delicious and the shrimp cocktail was also good, hardly jumbo sized as advertised. Since the primary reason we go to Captains table was for the cream of crab we won't be back. Maybe they should sell it as crab-less cream of, for a lower price, the taste was very good , just no crab to speak of. read more

I've had this cut of meat before well done like over 100 times *it's absolutely my favorite cut of meat* but when it came out it was under the lump cab cake *which was DEVINE* but the meat was flat?! Did you bait and switch me?! This my friends was NOT filet mignon WAS NO...Its FLAT (like cheap steak). It was WAY over cooked and I couldn't chew it....but the crab cake great *insert stink eye but it's only 80%* The kitchen was backed up and I sincerely protest that a bait and switch was done with high end meat for a lower one. Then my partner had encrusted chicken with shrimp and garlic sauce. He said everything was great but the shrimp tasted weird (he ate one of the 2) and no discount was requested but jist incase someone says the same thing The waitress told the chef who stated that it was too late to do anything. He did also have the creme brule and said that was good too. I gave them 3 stars due to the low quality of meat and seafood. I swear it was a bait and switch on the meat but the waitress said this is how the meat is cooked *yeah right* The experience was 5 but the meal was what made it 2 stars. read more
