First, we had a show to see, so were a little concerned the service started off a little slow with the automated order machine. Then, we realized they had like 20 pick up orders ahead of us. No problem, we just hung out patiently and the wait was much shorter than we expected. We took in the environs. There's some fun artwork but it's def fast food, so set expectations there. We split the spicy fries (double fried I think and teaming w spice!) and spicy chicken sandwich and both were very tasty. The portions are enormous and felt like made to order as piping hot and fresh. Excellent! About halfway thru, counter guy comped us a couple of ice cold pear sodas which were the absolute perfect complement to the food and which I otherwise would never have thought to order. Afterward, counter guy, who seems like he may have been a restaurant stakeholder, asked us how we held up (I'm a tiny middle aged white lady eating with a friend who's bigger but also white.) He seemed very impressed we finished our sandwich. He told us lots of people in LA can't handle Korean heat and that some have to give up, it's so spicy. He said the two of us should go to Korea because we'd love it. He's convinced we could handle real Korean spice, which is about the nicest thing one can say to me! Korean fried chicken is my comfort food and I was so excited to try Chimmelier. I truly think it is one of the best fried chicken spots in LA. The restaurant is small and casual but has so much personality and is a great spot for a quick meal. My friend and I had a feast with the Buldak Chicken Sando, Shrimp Toast, Fries, Honey Butter and Soy Garlic Wings, Kimchi Fried Rice. Everything was sooo delicious. The Buldak Chicken Sando is incredibly spicy and I could only have a few bites of it, but if you love spice, then this is for you. The Shrimp Toast and the Honey Butter Wings were definitely my favorite of the bunch. The Shrimp Toast is juicy and so crispy while the Honey Butter Wings have a glaze that has the perfect amount of sweet and savory. Love that the Kimchi Fried Rice comes with Shin Ramen seasoning for that extra punch of flavor. The staff here are also incredibly friendly, kind, and quick. Chimmelier servers one of the best fried chicken sandwiches where the meat BUSTS out of the buns. Perfect seasoning and reasonable price at $11 when you order there. Noticed that through Uber Eats, the prices are a bit higher. We grabbed 8 piece chicken wings (14) with Yang Yum sauce which had a little bit of a kick. It was your usually gochujang type sauce. The HOT Yang Yum sauce has habanero which might kill my insides. The wings were very saucey with thick amazing breading. The honey butter was recommended to us as well, but I thought it was a bit too rich. I'm excited to try the dry rubs. The tteokboki (8) was also one the best I've had with great texture and chew. The outside was perfectly pan fried leaving a soft middle. I loved it. Shrimp toast (8) also great, but forgettable for me. They basically put shrimp between to pieces of bread and cut it into fourths. Maybe if they do an open face version with more shrimp. The space is super casual and funky. Tried this place after seeing so many tiktoks about it. I ordered the OMFG flavor, galbi soy garlic, and the chicken sandwich. There was one other table and it took around 30 minutes for the food to come out.. The OMFG flavor closely resembles hot honey rub flavor in Wingstop. Not too spicy, it's sweet and savory. The crunch of the chicken and juiciness made it a perfect bite. The chicken sandwich was a bit overwhelming. It was TOO big. I'm the type to try and finish my chicken sandwich in one sitting because if I save it for later the bun, chicken, pickles, and everything inside will be so soggy. The price of the sandwich was $13 and bigger than my head. If they made a smaller and cheaper portion I think it would be better. The galbi wings were pretty good but flavor-wise it was not the best soy garlic wings in ktown. What differentiates them from other korean wing spots is the crunch. It's very crunchy and light. The prices are pretty expensive... Ordered wings and a chicken sandwich for it to be $40. Also, to top it all, a small side of radish was $4? Seriously? I've been following Chimmelier on Instagram for months and I finally got to try it today! It's really a hole in the wall on the outskirts of K-Town, but it packs a punch! I was hoping to sit indoors, but they only had outdoor seating, not sure if the inside is under construction, or if they do that after a certain time of the day. Either way, no biggie! There's a kiosk outside of the shop that you can place your order, but if you're using inKind to pay, you have to order directly with the person inside of the shop. I kept seeing their honey butter wings and shrimp toast in pics, so naturally I went with those! I also got an order of their seasoned fries, kimchi thousand island sauce and sweet gochujang sauce. HOLY CRAP!!! If this place has been on your list, please try it ASAP! Chicken was perfectly crunchy and well dressed in the honey butter sauce. The shrimp toast was delicious and also had the perfect crisp to it. Seasoned fries had a great flavor on their own, but when you dip them in that kimchi thousand island sauce they go off! Ordered to go and got this beautiful box of chicken was delivered. I got the spicy and classic flavor. It came with slaw and rice (kind of like from the bottom, a bit browned up?) which tasted fine. Batter for both wings was crunchy and in my opinion your really wanna eat these awnings and chicken fresh. The corn cheese was not my fave and was on a sweeter tangy side. This is one of those "this is definitely the best" kind of experiences for me. Chimmelier in particular reinforced the fact that Los Angeles has the best casual Korean food in America. For the price point this place offers, it is of insane flavor and quality that absolutely wowwed me. All the items I got here were phenomenal. Like I did not have a single not amazing bite. I'm gonna start with the chicken burger because at $13, it's an insanely high quality and delicious sandwich with ridiculous portions bigger than anyone's head. The chicken was tender, flaky, thin, easy to eat, and seasoned in basically the same dust they use in Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken (sweet and spicy kicks). The bun wasn't outstanding but did its job in housing the chicken and the radish helped lighten the intensity of the seasoning. Overall, 8/10 chicken sandwich, 10/10 for value and quantity. Top 3 chicken sandwiches I've had in America with that consideration, probably only behind Double Chicken Please in NYC. The Shrimp Toast is a whole new experience that I don't think I can find anywhere else and I highly recommend it. Take the juicy shrimp ball from a good siu Mai and put it into a crispy toast like texture and that's what you get: a crispy and juicy bite of shrimp and savory breading. Delicious and filling, 9.2/10. I absolutely enjoyed the wings here very much. From my limited experience, I've really only had "classic" flavors for Korean wings such as soy, garlic, spicy gochujang, etc. I was recommended to get the honey butter and galbi and I immediately thought of honey butter chips I've eaten before from the Korean market as well as actual Galbi marinade, only this time literally put into fried chicken form. They taste exactly as you imagine and as delicious as you'd hope they be. Truly one of the best wings I've ever had. It made me reevaluate my standard for fried chicken. The chicken and caviar is just like any standard chicken and caviar - solid with a subtle marinade on the chicken to help appreciate the caviar simultaneously. Phone is not working at the moment and I had to drive over to get a refund on one of my pick up order that they missed since I didn't order it through ubereats. My bf and I have been thinking about Chimmelier ever since we had their chicken sandwich at Head in the Clouds in 2022. The sandwich was so divine that I constantly check to see if they've opened a restaurant. The Chimmelier shares the storefront of Hanchic. The inside has some barstools for seating but it's not really sit down as they only offer takeout. Parking seemed like it would be fairly limited during lunch/dinner rush hours, but we came at 10pm so there were a few spots open. We ordered through Google and the estimate was fairly accurate. We got there and immediately got our food. We ordered a half chicken of cheese bomb and honey butter with the tteokboki and shrimp toast. Both the half chicken had some rice cakes in them but not a whole lot. The flavors we got were more like American fried chicken in that they were not doused with sauce and is more like a dry rub. I'm also not sure if the chicken is double-fried or not. Cheese Bomb (4/5) - I enjoyed the flavor altho it is mild. It is not as savory and umami as the flavor description says. I would say the chicken has a hint of cheese but more sweet. Honey Butter (4/5) - this flavor is exactly how it sounds. I think the flavors are intense on this one. Personally i didn't enjoy it as much because it's on meat, but both the honey and butter were there Tteokboki (4/5) - we paid $9.5 for the tteokboki. Flavor was good, but there were maybe like 8 rice cakes inside. Shrimp toast (4/5) - it's tiny pieces of fried toast with shrimo paste in the middle. I don't think it's special, and it's $9.50 The free sides are ok. Coleslaw is a but too sweet. The pickled japaleno and radish are nice! Passing through K-town during lunch and we rolled past this spot and spun back around to give it a try. Parking is always tight in K-town, so be prepared to fight for street parking. Small little joint, but a fun ambiance with some decent music and wall decorations. Staff was pleasant, but the food isn't fast food, so it's a bit of a wait but nothing unusual when freshly cooking chicken. We ordered a couple items and everything was ok, not great. The chicken pieces appear bigger than they actually are because it has a lot of coating, which could help with crunch, but mostly the spice coating made the chicken very dry and dusty to eat. **7/16/22 Ok, had to bring out my laptop for this review because I have a lot of things to say about this place, Chimmelier. Found this place through social media and wanted to try because I absolutely love chicken sandos and can't get enough. I used Yelp to navigate to this place and walked around for a good 10 minutes trying to locate the restaurant. There isn't actually a standalone restaurant for Chimmelier, it is inside the All Good Things COFFEE/WINE Café. Once you go in (make a left) you see 2 kiosks to order from. Only one of those kiosks can you place an order for your chicken sando's/wings/etc. It is labeled "Chimmelier" on the upper right hand corner of the kiosk. The shop is spacious with a good amount of seating with an open kitchen. I believe they are still trying to work things out with this new chicken "shop" opening because there were no photos shown in the kiosk of the food that you wanted to order, so I had to base all my decisions on previous yelp pictures/reviews.. Surprisingly there wasn't really anyone assisting any customers because you also order coffee from the other kiosk, I believe. The food was mid overall - let me break it down. Sando = $11.00 before tax. Chicken was super crispy and juicy. Not dry at all. I love the bun because it was so fluffy. The slaw that they use is very delicious and unique, but overall the sando itself is missing some flavor. They give you a side of the OMG sauce (sweet and spicy sauce) and you need some of the sauce to finish the sando for that missing flavor Shrimp Toast = $8.00 before tax. Thought this was super mid and was below my expectations. They give you a sweet sauce to dip the toast in, but I found it better to dip it in the OMG Sauce. Surprisingly, the sauce that came with the shrimp toast worked really well with the sando OMG Sauce = $2.00 before tax. I didn't know this but apparently you get already get a side of OMG sauce with the sando and I paid for an additional one..wish they explained it better on the kiosk selection because I would've chosen some other sauce that they had. Overall, I thought the sando was really unique but it depends on utilizing the sauce to bring out that extra flavor in the sando. I still prefer going to Michindak, because each ingredient in that sando compliments each other so well and you don't need extra sauces to finish the sando. Seeing how they are still in that early phase, im really excited to see what they change with this shop in the future. Perhaps some signs showing that Chimmelier exists on the windows for All Good Things. Service and ordering the food was super confusing, so hopefully this review helps others out when they go. I ordered Chimmelier from within All Good Things in Koreatown and they brought it over to me from next door. Nice service! I have been wanting to try this sandwich for over a year and never made it to Smorgasburg downtown so this was a great opportunity! The sandwich looks huge in photos but it's really not. The chicken sticks out but I guess it is on the thin side so it's pretty manageable. Good if you like a more proportionate sandwich, not as good if you were expecting a behemoth. Flavors are very clean. The sauce, if there is any, was kind of clear. There was a nice pickled slaw and some sort of green leaf that gave the sandwich a very subtle, gourmet flavor. I think the takeaway is that this is a very subtle fried chicken sandwich. If you are looking for a decadent Dave's or Howlin' Ray's type sando, it's not that. My husband loved it. I came to Chimmelier as a part of my ongoing quest to find the best Korean Friend Chicken in LA - and I had high hopes due to the many positive reviews. I really wanted to like this korean fried chicken place, but I find that it fell short of expectations. I ordered the 8 piece honey butter wings and they came out pretty fast: however, rather than being crispy and crunchy, the wings seemed to have been doused so much in butter that they lacked a good crunch. The honey butter flavor was there, but the amount of butter was overwhelming and the taste of honey felt flat. It was very greasy overall and rather than being juicy and tender on the inside, the wings all tasted rather oily. read more

This is easily one my new favorite spots! First off I ordered take out and had a few questions so I called in and the staff was super helpful! So much so that I'm writing a review and I never do this so here goes! The K-Chicken Sando was amazing, bread was a delicious brioche bun with some really nice pickled coleslaw, dashi mayo,pickles and perilla leaf which I'd never heard of before but absolutely loved, it was a total explosion of flavors! The chicken was super fresh and juicy inside with a perfectly crispy seasoned outside. I love spicy food but this wasn't spicy in my opinion if you're not down with the heat. The seasoned fries were really good and very well portioned, Iv honestly never had season fries that tasted like that before. The Korean soda was super tasty as well would definitely choose that over an American soda you could get anywhere else. Can't forget the dipping sauces, we got the kimchi1000, Mala and the Yang'yum sauce but my favorite was the mala for that tingly sichuan sensation. The packaging and presentation was next level too, really loved the graphic design on the box! All in all I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed this place, very unique flavors and reasonably priced.can't wait to go in person and try more off the menu. Wouldn't be surprised if this place blows up with more locations like some of the other popular fried chicken spots in LA cause it's easily a top contender. read more
