Came here and got the chocolate chip cookie and the funfetti cookie. Honestly, both were pretty decent, on the mid-upper end of good cookies within New York. They were both hefty cookies, with a very cake-like consistency inside. There was good textural contrast between crisp bottom and the softer inside. I would say that we enjoyed the funfetti cookie overall a little bit more than the chocolate chip (even though we were all chocolate chip fans). We felt that the given the saturation in the chocolate chip market, we expect only the highest from that particular cookie. Funfetti is not a super common cookie flavor, so maybe there were less comparisons to be made, but we felt like it was moderately more enjoyable than the other. Overall, a decent experience, so I will give it a 3.5/5 stars. read more

I heard a lot of hype for Chip City but I was pretty disappointed. The only one I kind of enjoyed was the White Chocolate Macadamia. I know people probably compare this place to Levain a lot, and I'm going to do exactly the same hahaha. I expected Chip City to be on par with Levain, if not better, but the cookies were pretty one-dimensional in flavor. They reminded me of cookies you get at a chain supermarket, only bigger. I 100% prefer Levain over Chip City. I prefer Levain's chunkier and oatmeal-y chocolate chip cookies. The Oreo cookie was too sweet and I wish it had like white chocolate or something to give it some texture. The Eclair cookie might have been my least favorite because it was just sweet on top of sweet with one monotonous texture. I love their branding and the staff was nice, but man these cookies are overrated :( read more

Never thought I would be shelling out $10 for 2 cookies but here I am and I have been back for more. These cookies are the size and shape of a biscuit so it's worth it. IMO, not nearly as good as levain's. In fact, no comparison. But they're cheaper, closer to my apartment, they rotate flavors so you never get bored, and they have incredible coffee specials, so the place holds its own individual merit. I love the three chip chocolate chip as well as the piña colada. There have been a few flavors that I haven't had the chance to try but have been on my list like the apple pie one etc. Even the basic chocolate chip one is pretty good. Again, I don't think they stand up to levain's, but they're not a bad treat at all. From open until noon, they have really good deals on all coffee - a mere $3 for any espresso drinks and $2 for a large ice coffee. The coffee is good too - knowing about this, I'll probably come here more frequently for the coffee than the cookies! The women working are always lovely and nice. To me, the worst gourmet cookie I've had in NYC. I'd rather have no cookie than their cookies. - Chocolate chip cookie was criminally underbaked. The outside was pale and had no pleasant firmness, hardly offering a textural contrast. The deep innards of the cookie were a completely raw, unappetizing runny goop. There was something that hit my tongue wrong in that section too, something acrid, which doesn't even make sense. The dainty chocolate chips dispersed in the dough were unimpressive, some generic milk chocolate drops probably laden with lecithin or other stabilizer. But it all comes back to them intolerably underbaked. Was this a health hazard, eating from a giant batch of raw flour and undercooked eggs?? - The specialty of the night, pumpkin something (perhaps PSL), was not redeeming. Also underbaked, but at least this one had a deliberately runny interior. It may have been a caramel sauce, but the cookie was light on the spice and already very sweet on its own, so with the runny sauce it got far too saccharine. I was done after the first bite. I don't think the cookies we got were anomalous; we went mid-evening, and our cookies looked like the others. I'm used to paying $4+ for cookies. At Levain, Mah Zhe Dahr, Best Damn Cookies, Jacques Torres, Insomnia Cookies, each of which I like. Maybe I'll give Chip City another try in the future, but for now they have earned my first one-star review. read more

I started following them on Instagram and it really made me want to try their cookies. We stopped by their Greenwich Village location on our most recent trip to NYC. It's takeout only for the most part right now. There's not really anywhere to sit inside. Their flavors rotate every day and they have them posted on Instagram. We got one of their seasonal ones: Vanilla Dulce Crumble. I really enjoyed the cookie. It was a little more dry/crumbly than I was expecting, but this may just have been the flavor we got. Happy Valentine's day everyone! This was my second time trying Chip City, the first time, I tried their cookies from their food truck. This time I went into their brick and mortar location. Hands-down, my favorite cookie shop. All their cookies were very good but their strawberry crème cookie stuck out to me. It was not only soft and warm but not too sweet. I'm personally not a big sweet tooth but the strawberry creme had a good balance of flavor, crumbly edge, and soft center of cream cheese. I highly recommend eating it ASAP right when you walk out of the shop, as my cookies were right out of the oven. If not, microwave it for 15 seconds when you get home. Maybe even dipping it in some milk for the good old milk and cookie times. Currently, they have a buy 5 get 1 free. Currently 700 - 800 calories per cookie - this is the amount of calories in a large meal, but, most of your customers don't know that. There's something missing with these cookies. I've given them three tries and that's that. They're the epitome of "don't judge a book by its cover."... they look incredible! Gooey and crisp and creative, but the taste is off and bland. Maybe they use really low-quality milk chocolate or don't add enough salt or put too much cinnamon, but these lack that irresistible cookie taste of Levain and City Cakes. They're like three "normal" cookies thick, ever so slightly crispy on the outside, and irresistibly soft and gooey in the center. How does a bakery achieve such perfection? I *expletive* love these cookies. They have a schedule of rotating goodies on their website and seasonal offerings as well. They also have a deal where you get 1 cookie free if you buy 5. Came here with a friend for dessert a couple days ago. This was highly recommended to me by many people I talked to, so I was really excited to give it a try. I ordered the standard chocolate chip cookie -- it was super gooey and fresh out the oven, with very melty chocolate chips. I think it was a bit on the sweet side for me, but otherwise it was really good, and I can definitely see what all the hype is about. The service was also really friendly! I also got a hot chocolate, but I ended up really not liking it. I asked for almond milk but when I tasted it I think they used vanilla almond milk because it tasted more like vanilla and not like chocolate at all :( I might try it again with normal milk next time. read more

Chip City has 4oz cookies. The selection changes daily but you can usually get the standard Chocolate Chip. I'm not in the vicinity of this location often but I always enjoy taking a look. They are fairly big (just like Levain) so one is probably good enough for at least 2 people. I did find then to be a little too sugary. This place first appeared on our radar due to the selection.
