I finally had the opportunity to check out Clinton Street bakery today for the first time and I'm so happy that I did! I brought my fiancé with me and we both really enjoyed our meals and the service. We walked in and we were seated within 15 minutes or so, and our orders were taken promptly. The blueberry pancakes were so delicious and I really enjoyed the crispy edges, we also had the French toast And breakfast combo that included fried green tomatoes, this really made me think of my southern breakfast moments growing up. I discovered this place after constantly seeing Instagram reviews of the best pancakes I'm NYC and the experience definitely lived up to the hype. We came as a walk-in on a Friday morning around 10AM and waited about an hour to be seated at the bar, the place is small and reservations are needed and booked around a month in advance specially for breakfast so if you are interested in eating here you will either prep way ahead or be patient. Once we sat the bartender assisted us, was very friendly and knowledgeable, we ordered, the Bloody Mary, latke Benedicts, fried chicken waffles and orange juice. Everything was delicious, generous and at a fair price point for NY. The place is always packed in the morning so you will feel them rushing you, so this is not really a place to come and relax, chat, and eat. More like a fast phased breakfast and go. For the past four or five times that we have traveled to New York, we've made it a point to go to Clinton Street Baking for brunch. I love their pancakes, and their coffee is my favorite ever. However, the past couple of times that I have gone, I have felt a little sad about some uneven service and/or food. This time I asked for a piece of cake to go, but never got the cake. Our food also took almost an hour to come out. The last time that we were there, the biscuits tasted day-old, though this time they were good. This place is a tourist hotspot so make sure you get there early. Stopped by after a procedure at NYU and had the banana walnut pancakes with blueberries. Also ordered a side of cheesy grits. The food was good but not as stellar as the wait makes it seem. It was also rather expensive for 2 people for breakfast with coffee ($70 + tip), but that's life in NYC. They have a small waiting area inside and some benches outside. If you are dying for blueberry pancakes, get here early or try them over in DUMBO. However, I think this location is better than the DUMBO location. read more

We came here recently on a busy July 4th morning. The wait was estimated to be ~2 hours; ended up being closer to 3. Every time we checked back in, they just kept telling us 15 minutes, but this just wasn't true. We literally only ordered the pancakes because that's what they're known for. They were honestly just ok; nice and fluffy, but didn't taste like anything special. It wasn't crowded for weekday dinner - looked like plenty of room for walk ins (we had a reservation). They have all day breakfast so you can still have the brunch experience if you really want lol. Most of the brunch exclusive menu items can be recreated by ordering the sides separately. We shared the shrimp & grits, and blueberry pancakes. The shrimp and grits were really great. The grits and fried green tomatoes by themselves are a little plain, but the creole sauce pulls it together. The pancakes were good. They're more polished and better looking than most diner pancakes, but still pancakes at the end of the day. Glad we got the chance to stop by. Believe the hype! Delicious brunch with great service in a casual atmosphere. We made a reservation for two people for a Sunday afternoon through Resy as soon as that day opened up weeks in advance. We had a 9AM reservation and it's important to note it was the last one available weeks before our trip. They open at 9am and there was already a long line by 8:45am. They allow the guests with reservations to enter first. We were quickly seated and brought over menus and glasses of water. Shortly after we were seated a server appeared to take our drink order. My sister ordered a cup of coffee and I ordered an espresso. We also ordered the special peppermint hot chocolate but mine was made with oat milk. The hot chocolate was out of this world and the little candy cane pieces really brought it home. Both my sister and I were fans. The espresso was tasty too and my sister enjoyed her cup of Joe. Ironically, I'd never taken the time to look at the menu because I was always captivated by the photographs on social media. Specifically, I've salivated over the pancakes. Needless to say, we ordered the wild Maine flapjacks to share and each of us ordered a side of eggs. The pancakes were paired with an amazing blueberry compote and a side of caramel sauce. We requested syrup, but I enjoyed the compote. The pancake's texture was perfect! They had a fluffy center and crispy edge. My sister ordered two eggs over medium and I ordered well done scrambled eggs. Both of our egg orders were cooked to perfection. I added hot sauce to my eggs. They only offer a house made hot sauce and it is delicious! I also ordered a side of chicken apple sausage. To my surprise, it wasn't the links I was expecting. It was actually an order of three patties that tasted homemade. All I can tell you it's this establishment lived up to its hype and I'm so happy I was able to cross it off the foodie bucket list. Shoutout to the staff, I got my days mixed up and came a day before my actual reservation. They still seated me and provided excellent service. I actually hate waffles, but I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and try the chicken and waffles. Absolutely delicious. Hot and fresh and very juicy My friend had the salmon and it was also very delicious, slightly fried on the sides for a crispy edge. The egg was nicely poached, the biscuit was flaky and not too dry, the carnitas was flavorful, and the jalapeño hollandaise sauce tied it all together perfectly! Served with a lot of carnitas and chunks of avocado too! Banana pancakes: 10/10 Truly some of the best pancakes I've had in my life! Insanely fluffy but nice crispy edges. There could have been more bananas throughout. The warm maple butter was the best thing I could have asked for. I wish I could buy this sauce it was fantastic and perfect on the warm pancakes. I think this is a bit overhyped like most things NYers wait hours in line for... it's always mind boggling to see people waste their weekends standing in line Don't get me wrong, the pancakes are good but not 1 to 2 hours wait and even less not a great area good. Don't go on weekend brunch time and instead opt for dinner time (starts at 5:30pm) because they have breakfast and pancakes all day. Clinton Street Baking Company is the latest spot on my summer brunch marathon. While I had been here once before, it was only via their walk-up window for some takeout bakes. I was impressed with the quality, which really made me want to have a proper sit-down experience here. That being said, I booked a table and off we went. CSBC sits on the corner and Clinton and E Houston on the LES. As we approached we noticed a crowd of people seemingly waiting for seats, as well as a line of people at their walk-up takeout window. Since we made a reservation, we were able to bypass the wait and were seated right away. The interior is small and bustling with tables scattered throughout the space and a bar along the front wall with additional seating. The decor is simple with a casual aesthetic - light wood tabletops and red chairs which add a pop of color. The menu has a number of brunch items, though since CSBC is best known for their breakfast items I leaned toward that direction. A considerable portion of the business' pictures on Yelp were of their pancakes - this intrigued me so I went with those. They gave a choice of blueberry, banana, or chocolate chunk, and since I have an affinity towards blueberry I went with those. The pancakes were great - it was a short stack of three which was the perfect size; in addition to berries being incorporated into the batter, the stack was also topped with blueberry compote which was a really nice touch. The pancakes came with a side of this syrup which was delicious; it wasn't maple - it had more of a caramel flavor but had the consistency of syrup. It was really great and totally complemented the pancakes. I wanted to get a little protein on the side, so I ordered the scrambled eggs with cheddar. These were really tasty - cheddar isn't necessarily the meltiest cheese, but it worked really well. Service was great, everyone was really friendly, our food came out at a good pace, and they consistently made sure we were taken care of. Never once did we have to ask for refills of water or coffee - I loved that staff was continuously strolling the dining room topping off cups. Made a 9 am reservation here and it was worth it. Started off with bottomless coffee. Shared everything but the egg sandwich was amazing (great biscuit) and the BELT was phenomenal (especially the sourdough bread). A friend of mine has been wanting to check out this place. We made reservations for 2. The hostess, Liz, was welcoming and accomodating. I love the space. It is very open and a great view of Houston Street. Surprisingly, despite all the noise outside, it is pretty quiet inside. I was happy to see that they have a small bar/ counter area. I was also happy to see draft beer! I was even happier to see they have a fried chicken sandwich with a beer for only twenty bucks! The fries were OK. But the chicken sandwich on the freshly baked sourdough bread was fabulous! My friend enjoyed her pancakes, they came with a sauce. I have finally made it to Clinton Street. I didn't love the wait (it was 2 hours) but the place is very popular. Next time I am making a reservation! The hostess was very sweet. It was very busy and it's not a huge restaurant but it's still a lovely place to come and eat some real good food. We sat at the bar. The bartender/waiter recommended the Mexican eggs Benedict and let me tell you that dish did not disappoint!! The apple pie waffle was DELICIOUS! I'm not a fan of cooked apples but the apples on this waffle were soooo good I was eating them by itself. Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Attempted to make a reservation online and next day reservations were only available for 10 am. Arrived at 8:45 am on a weekday and managed to be the 5th party in line. A hostess came out to split the queue into reservations vs. walk-ins. This restaurant is known to always be busy and for their long wait times. I was surprised by how small this restaurant is. Unless you have a reservation (which will trigger a charge of $25 per person if cancelled within 24hrs), be prepared to wait for a table. I went on a Thursday around 1pm without a reservation and had to wait 40mins for a party of 3. So be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation. I went mainly to try their famous pancakes. We ordered the chicken and waffles, the blueberry pancakes and my friend also ordered the ham eggs benedict. She was not a fan of it. I didn't try it so I went with her opinion. The pancakes, fried chicken breast and maple butter syrup on the other hand were delicious!! I wish they had that combination, "pancakes and chicken". The only spot people in Manhattan will fuss about before noon. After trying to get a res or best the line for years, I finally went solo and was able to snag a bar seat in about 15 minutes.
