Pink cake, concha, and sugar cookie
    Paige S.

Thank goodness I found this place! Since my trip to Mexico, I've been looking long and hard for good conchas and have been disappointed until this place. Parking is easy with a small lot and plenty of street parking. The vibes are low key and the staff is friendly. Can't go wrong with anything but the sugar cookie and concha were my favorite! I can't wait to come back and try more.

I had been wanting to go here since I learned about this place and it was worth the months of waiting until coming back down to Austin. This place is a GEM. You can tell there is care for the community and I love it. Pan dulce has always been a staple in my family and to see a place like this where everything is made with such care is special. All the staff members were amazing and the pan dulce itself was unique and outstanding. It was a perfect blend of sweet/savory and high quality ingredients. I'll be dreaming of the conchas and pink cake. There will be a line but parking and areas to wait are abundant while you send a friend to stand in line! Must go! Everything is decorated nicely but it is a small venue once you're inside so plan accordingly.

Coffee here was just impeccable! Flavors mend together so well. I had the Cafe Con Leche and it was just incredible. The conchas were also delicious. Any thing with Masa cake is amazing! Workers walk you through the menu cause it's not common items you see throughout most bakeries. Shop is cute and fun but you can't eat inside at all. Can't wait to come back!

Heard this place was an upscale Mexican bakery so we had to stop by. They had some rly nice options, even vegan ones for those who want to indulge! A cute little shaded area in the back too.

Twice baked concha was warm, crispy, and flavorful. Horchata was delicious but really sweet. There was a long line but they were really nice and quick about it. There's music outside and some benches, but it's a small little bakery would recommend grabbing and going to a park.

You should get there early before the line gets too long. The baked goods change very frequently. I recommend following them on Instagram so you can see what they have. If you go too late they have probably sold out of a lot of things. I recommend getting there closer to when they open. There is a little bit of seating outside, but not a lot. The tacos were great. I think they make their own tortillas.

Such a gem in Austin! The line was pretty long even at 9AM, it took about 25 min. But completely worth it. The pastries are so creative and fresh and rotate regularly with the mainstays like pink cake and conchas. The empanada was the best I've ever had, as was the concha (which are so dry everywhere else but here they were flaky and perfect). I'd skip the breakfast tacos though as they weren't particularly unique in my opinion. I highly recommend sitting in the patio area. Places like this make me so grateful to live in Austin!

There are bakeries--and then there are sanctuaries where the gods of flour, sugar, and butter surely whisper their secrets. Hidden quietly on the east side, away from the spotlight, lies Comadre Panadería--a place where traditional Mexican sweet bread is elevated into an art form. ¡Ay Dios mío! I must confess: never in my life have I encountered a concha like this. Moist, flavorful, and delicately balanced, it has forever changed my opinion of this classic pastry. You see, I grew up with conchas--dry, crumbly imposters that disintegrated into a sandy mess the moment you picked one up. But here? Here the conchas are revelations. Moist yet airy, flaky yet intact, crowned with a frosting that holds beautifully--adding sweetness without the chaos of crumbs. And I'll say it, unapologetically: lo siento, abuelita, but these are the best conchas I've ever had. Yes, San Antonio. Yes, Rio Grande Valley. You may boast, but until you've tried Comadre's creations, you haven't truly tasted what a concha can be. This was my second visit, and the service is super friendly and each pastry I sampled felt like a new chapter in a story of confectionery excellence. From the first bite to the last, Comadre Panadería doesn't just bake--it enchants. If I risk exposing this hidden gem to the world, I apologize to the proprietor... but magic like this deserves to be celebrated.

Love love love the idea! This well known bakery was at the top of my list for this weekends trip to Austin. A few things just feel short. The carrot cake was not giving carrot cake. The coffee was overly spiced in my opinion. I know it was supposed to be but the anis flavor just took over. The highlights were the empanada and powdered sugar cookie. The vibes were very cute. About 5 people can fit in the shop itself at a time so there is a line waiting but they are fairly quick. The price point is average for Austin. But definitely more than a local panaderia. They do use unique ingredients for their flavor profiles.

This bakery is so adorable! They have a small parking lot - I went on a weekday, and it was really easy to find a spot. The inside is small and inviting with friendly staff. As someone who mainly eats vegetarian, I love that nothing contains meat here! I ordered the moka, chocolate concha, pink cake, and focaccia. Everything was delicous, but my favorites were the pink cake and focaccia. The pink cake was so moist and the perfect icing to cake ratio. The focaccia had an egg baked into it and was super fresh. You have to order these when you go!!

that pink cake was worth the hype!! it's dense yet still soft with a light icing on top, i kept wanting more not too sweet, tastes like a vanilla cake overall!

My sister has been going on about this place, so since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped by and hoped they had some roscas left for walk-up sale. They didn't. We arrived and parked in the lot. There was a short line. The bakery is very tiny, so they ask that you queue up outside if there is a line. We walked in as others walked out. We go up to order and they didn't have any roscas. I didn't think I would be in the area so I didn't preorder like a normal human. Honestly, they sounded incredible and I will not fail to preorder next time. So we picked out an assortment: Mexican choco chunk concha, Mexican vanilla concha, prickly pear galleta, pink cake, and Texas winter fresa funfetti cake. I think the Texas winter fresa funfetti cake was my favorite. It was the only one I didn't share. It was so light and whimsical. The cake was fluffy and most with just a hint of icing and delicious layers of strawberry jam. It was will balanced and just the perfect amount of sweetness. I could eat that all day. The pink cake was divine. It practically melts in your mouth. It's topped with prickly pear buttercream which makes me think I need to taste test prickly pears more often. I know I like them, but I can't describe the flavor. The prickly pear galleta was crisp and flavorful. I didn't know if I got the prickly pear flavor, but it was tasty. The conchas were soft and pillowy inside with a great crunch on top. Both yummy and paired perfectly with a little coffee. I definitely think I'll have to stop by again for more goodies.

Super cute venue. Parking a bit of a challenge as the lot is very small so street parking may have you walk a few extra steps. Inside they were very kind and informative since this was the first time there. Order two chocolate and one golden then the pink cake. All were delicious! No complaints. For drinks got the horchata, one with espresso added in, and americano and then initially ordered a vanilla cold brew and before we finished ordering (and changing minds) that drink was complimentary since it was already made. Drinks were on point as well. We opted to sit outside in the patio area which would have been perfect except lots of flies. The station for trash and dishes was about 20 feet away and when clearing our table and throwing away the trash we realized this was the source. There is another restaurant kinda connected that we walked through after which had a garden and covered seating. Super super cute!! Would love to go back and experience.

We chose half sweetness so it didn't feel drenched in maple syrup, which made it way more enjoyable for me. The cinnamon notes and subtle spice undertone came through nicely. Not exactly my go-to since I gravitate toward floral or fruit-forward drinks, but definitely fun to try at least once. Honey Lavender - LOVED this one. Everyone agreed it was very lavender, which only made me love it more. I chose whole milk and was surprised by how smooth and creamy it tasted. My only tiny complaint is that I didn't get much coffee flavor coming through, but if you're here for the lavender, this absolutely delivers. Coconut Macadamia Latte - this hit the spot. Perfectly coconut-y with just enough macadamia peeking through. I'll admit I have a sharp tongue for coconut flavors (hello, Thai curry), so this one immediately stood out to me. The sweetness level felt just right, and honestly, I'd pick this over Starbucks any day. Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin - one of the best things I ate in Austin. The texture deserves praise because it somehow managed to be firm without being dry, which I usually think goes hand in hand. Not here. It was moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious while somehow also not being overly sweet. The cream cheese and pumpkin flavors came through beautifully without feeling sugary or heavy. If you stop by, this is a must-order. But honestly, the best part of this whole place? The service, the people, the atmosphere (especially the atmosphere!), and the flavors. There's something about the space that just makes you want to stay awhile. Also... did you know you can touch the bear's butt?!? Highly recommend. It weirdly felt like a mandatory part of the experience.

Delicious saltiness and cinnamon! I really enjoyed this. I tried the honey lavender latte which they said was the least sweet of their fort favorites. The lavender flavor was very forward and there was a hint of sweetness on the back of the tongue, so very accurate. I didn't get as much coffee flavor here so maybe double espresso if that's important to you. Friends also tried the seasonal coconut macadamia latte (they said it was nice, like a sweet nutty flavor). Really solid coffee spot with great vibes, I'd come back.
