Heirloom Masa Sugar Cookie (v)(gf) Red Berry Concha Pink Cake (gf) Vanilla Concha
    Shannon P.

Came here around 11am on a Sunday morning after hearing great things about Comadre and yum, we will definitely be back! As soon as we got out of the car in the parking lot, I knew we were in the right place because holy wow the smells coming from the building were crazy delicious. What I bought: Heirloom Masa Sugar Cookie (v)(gf) × 4 $16.00 ($4.00 ea.) Red Berry Concha × 2 $12.00 ($6.00 ea.) Pink Cake (gf) **contains coconut** × 3 $21.00 ($7.00 ea.) Vanilla Concha $6.00 As someone who can't have gluten, I was so so happy that they had gluten free options! The heirloom masa sugar cookie tastes like your grandmas cornbread in cookie form. It's perfectly soft and practically melts in your mouth, slightly savory with just a touch of sweetness, so freaking good. My kids ate the Conchas so fast I couldn't even get a bite in but the kids all said they were super yummy and we have to go back for more. Had a small line when we arrived so we got to watch everyone baking in the kitchen for a few minutes, which was fun to see. Highly recommend!

Stopped here on recommendations. Small little shop, with very friendly staff and wonderful service. Had a line outside and had to wait about 10 minutes, but it was worth it. We tried empanadas, twice baked conch, pink cake, and carrot cake. Everything was very delicious. Some of our group liked certain items over the others, but we were happy with it all. We will definitely go back and try more items.

I got there at lunch time and couldn't get most items I wanted. Go early if you want breakfast tacos. But we did get a cheddar meat empanada, the pink cake that looks like homers doughnut, a concha and a danish. They were all tasty and done well. My favorite was the pink cake. Watch out for limited parking and it's pricey. Spent $30 for four pastries.

Coffee here was just impeccable! Flavors mend together so well. I had the Cafe Con Leche and it was just incredible. The conchas were also delicious. Any thing with Masa cake is amazing! Workers walk you through the menu cause it's not common items you see throughout most bakeries. Shop is cute and fun but you can't eat inside at all. Can't wait to come back!

Thank goodness I found this place! Since my trip to Mexico, I've been looking long and hard for good conchas and have been disappointed until this place. Parking is easy with a small lot and plenty of street parking. The vibes are low key and the staff is friendly. Can't go wrong with anything but the sugar cookie and concha were my favorite! I can't wait to come back and try more.

I had been wanting to go here since I learned about this place and it was worth the months of waiting until coming back down to Austin. This place is a GEM. You can tell there is care for the community and I love it. Pan dulce has always been a staple in my family and to see a place like this where everything is made with such care is special. All the staff members were amazing and the pan dulce itself was unique and outstanding. It was a perfect blend of sweet/savory and high quality ingredients. I'll be dreaming of the conchas and pink cake. There will be a line but parking and areas to wait are abundant while you send a friend to stand in line! Must go! Everything is decorated nicely but it is a small venue once you're inside so plan accordingly.

This place has been on my list for over a year and last year I wasn't able to stop by while visiting. About a week ago I listen to the chef/owner on the "she's my cherry pie " podcast and her passion and dedication to honoring her heritage and paying an affordable wage while being passionate about quality is impressive. $7.50 may be steep for a pastry but knowing the quality and effort that she puts into every item while paying affordable wages makes it understandable. Anyway, This time it was a must visit on a quick over night trip. I ended up not making it in till around 1230-1 so most stuff was gone but they had the seasonal strawberry sunflower seed concha which was what I wanted anyway. The Concha had a nice crispy outside with a soft airy inside, the jam wasn't too sweet and there was just enough sunflower to kiss your palate to let you know it was there. I would have loved to try other items but what I did try was top notch. Hope to make it by again for more tasty treats soon.

Such a gem in Austin! The line was pretty long even at 9AM, it took about 25 min. But completely worth it. The pastries are so creative and fresh and rotate regularly with the mainstays like pink cake and conchas. The empanada was the best I've ever had, as was the concha (which are so dry everywhere else but here they were flaky and perfect). I'd skip the breakfast tacos though as they weren't particularly unique in my opinion. I highly recommend sitting in the patio area. Places like this make me so grateful to live in Austin!

Heard this place was an upscale Mexican bakery so we had to stop by. They had some rly nice options, even vegan ones for those who want to indulge! A cute little shaded area in the back too.

You should get there early before the line gets too long. The baked goods change very frequently. I recommend following them on Instagram so you can see what they have. If you go too late they have probably sold out of a lot of things. I recommend getting there closer to when they open. There is a little bit of seating outside, but not a lot. The tacos were great. I think they make their own tortillas.

There are bakeries--and then there are sanctuaries where the gods of flour, sugar, and butter surely whisper their secrets. Hidden quietly on the east side, away from the spotlight, lies Comadre Panadería--a place where traditional Mexican sweet bread is elevated into an art form. ¡Ay Dios mío! I must confess: never in my life have I encountered a concha like this. Moist, flavorful, and delicately balanced, it has forever changed my opinion of this classic pastry. You see, I grew up with conchas--dry, crumbly imposters that disintegrated into a sandy mess the moment you picked one up. But here? Here the conchas are revelations. Moist yet airy, flaky yet intact, crowned with a frosting that holds beautifully--adding sweetness without the chaos of crumbs. And I'll say it, unapologetically: lo siento, abuelita, but these are the best conchas I've ever had. Yes, San Antonio. Yes, Rio Grande Valley. You may boast, but until you've tried Comadre's creations, you haven't truly tasted what a concha can be. This was my second visit, and the service is super friendly and each pastry I sampled felt like a new chapter in a story of confectionery excellence. From the first bite to the last, Comadre Panadería doesn't just bake--it enchants. If I risk exposing this hidden gem to the world, I apologize to the proprietor... but magic like this deserves to be celebrated.

Twice baked concha was warm, crispy, and flavorful. Horchata was delicious but really sweet. There was a long line but they were really nice and quick about it. There's music outside and some benches, but it's a small little bakery would recommend grabbing and going to a park.

Love love love the idea! This well known bakery was at the top of my list for this weekends trip to Austin. A few things just feel short. The carrot cake was not giving carrot cake. The coffee was overly spiced in my opinion. I know it was supposed to be but the anis flavor just took over. The highlights were the empanada and powdered sugar cookie. The vibes were very cute. About 5 people can fit in the shop itself at a time so there is a line waiting but they are fairly quick. The price point is average for Austin. But definitely more than a local panaderia. They do use unique ingredients for their flavor profiles.

Thus far, I've only had cookies. First time was when said friend gifted me a rather ginormous chocolate chip cookie that melted in my mouth. Couldn't get it in my belly fast enough. Since I've been going on my own I've also had the lemon crinkle cookie as well as the chocolate crinkle and the double chocolate chip. All are enough to put my head in a tizzy state of intoxication from their sugary goodness. I'll have to say the double chocolate chip cookie is my favorite. That is, as I type this. I'm sure during my next visit it'll be another cookie. Perhaps the lemon will move forward in my line of faves. No matter because as I said, it's all delicious goodness. Baked love. Perfectly baked. Yummy. Pure cookie bliss.

The outside is super cute and can definitely be a good photo opportunity. I initially Yelp for ice cream but this spot popped up and I couldn't say no. It was a good spot to check out if you love cookies. Prices are a bit high but would make great gifts or for you to eat. Tips: *Credit card accepted *Small parking lot.

This bakery seriously might have the best cookies in Austin. Perfect texture, rich flavor, and…read moresomehow always fresh and satisfying every single time. Definitely one of those places that keeps you thinking about the cookie long after you leave. Everything else in the bakery also looks amazing, but the cookies are absolutely the star of the show. One important thing to note for first-time visitors: be very careful with parking. The lot next door apparently boots cars almost immediately if they see you park there and walk toward the bakery. It's not the bakery's fault, but it's definitely something customers should be aware of before visiting. Parking headache aside, this place is 100% worth the trip.

Wow, that was a bold claim! I finally got the opportunity to try ThoroughBread cookies and they were quite yummy. These cookies are like no other cookies I have eaten. I got the chocolate chip cookies with pecans. They had the texture of gingerbread cookies and were huge. They were gooey in the middle, perfectly crisp on the outside, and rich without being eye-squinting sweet. The chocolate chip cookies had welcoming textures and flavors. In addition, my server was kind and patient as I made my selection. You could taste the quality of ingredients, and each mouthful was progressively delicious. Definitely try Thoroughbread cookies for yourself. You're in for a treat.
