Without a doubt one of the best breakfast tacos of recent memory. Whenever you see a taco truck in a gas station parking lot in a non-descript neighborhood you know you have to give it a try! I recently ordered a bacon, egg and potato breakfast taco. Home made exceptional tortillas, perfectly cooked eggs, well seasoned potatoes and bacon, served to order pipping hot and quickly by a friendly staff at a low price equals early morning, as the sun rises success! The last thing you want at the crack of dawn is a long wait, surly service and luke warm food. Not to be found here! As a bonus there is ample covered picnic table seating and really great coffee. This was my first Austin food truck and I am blown away. Got two potato, egg, bean and chorizo burritos and they were so good! Soft, flavorful tortillas that were toasted but not crispy (which we love) and the fillings were hot, flavorful and it is HUGE!! Like, this breakfast burrito was the size of a Subway Footlong. I went on Saturday morning and used there online ordering and when I got there I was ready to pick up my food and go the best part about this place is they take card. We stumbled upon this taco truck when we were trying to eat at Curra's next door. I have seen this taco truck for years at the gas station and have noticed the evolution from parked in the parking lot and one picnic table, to roof over head and plenty of seating. It's almost a legit restaurant. The boy was skeptical, but I was convinced they would be delicious. And I was right! They have really streamlined the process, with a legit employee solely working the iPad to take orders and your money. We were skeptical once again, as there were quite a few people waiting for food and ZERO people at the time actually had food. We asked how long the wait would be for food, thinking 30 minutes. The order taker said 7-10 minutes. Well, she was exactly right! Speedy service, affordable and delicious food. I ordered a migas taco and a chilequiles taco, both on flour. They were small (Tacodeli small) but they were great. I was especially happy when I saw the tortillas exactly they way I like, with brown cooked spots. We both got iced coffee and I added some horchata which was a unique twist on regular iced coffee. Their lunch and dinner options sound good, and I would definitely give the breakfast burrito a try next time. I saw someone else with one and it looked HUGE. Like Cabo Bob's huge. I'm from southern California, so I know what a good taco/burrito is. Their pastor meat easily is the best marinated pastor I've had in a long while. These tacos were not good AT ALL! Aside from being on the pricier side, they were awful. The egg was over cooked to the point where it had burnt edges, & there was hardly any bacon. I also tried to carnitas taco & it was mixed with what looked like can veggies which is not what I want in my carnitas, which translates to meat, taco. Also, I placed a decent size order and was waiting in the picnic area and the guy came out to personally hand me my tacos vs. just calling my name and explained how everything was packed and thanked me for my order. The people there are super nice and good enough tacos but prices a little high and wait time is really long, especially during peak lunch or Sunday. You barely can call in (you get a recording that they're too busy to answer) or if you place online order, they do not have it ready, and have to wait a while. Ordered breakfast tacos to take to work the other day. I asked for chorizo, egg and potato on corn. Very simple. I'm deathly allergic to cows milk so I did not say "cheese". I got to work and was lucky I checked them before putting them in my mouth, there was cheese on them. Had I just bitten into it, I would have ended up with a severe allergic reaction. So, I went back the next day to tell them to be more careful etc... They offered to make more tacos (but, since I didn't want to take my life in my hands,) but I refused. I got a half hearted, " sorry, we were probably busy...." They didn't even offer any refund. I've gone there dozens of times and never had this issue. I won't go back. read more

They don't have "official" vegetarian tacos on the menu, but you can build your own taco, and make it vegetarian. You can even ask them to put it in a bowl to satisfy your low-carb lifestyle (if you have one). Their salsas are spicy, and I'm a big fan of the green one. My partner, a mostly-carnivorous carbohydrate lover, also loves this place. They're pretty cheap, and the workers are really nice. Don't expect to hit this place up for dinner though; they generally close pretty early in the afternoon. read more

Is it terrible I almost don't want anyone else to know about this place? We live right around the corner and have been blessed with their tacos for the past few years and were thrilled when they started opening in evening hours as well. What can I say? Everything is so fresh, the service is amazing (say hi to Yancy as she takes your order!), and the prices are very reasonable. My personal favorites are the migas, barbacoa, and al pastor. If they happen to have the carnitas or chicken mole that day make sure to get one of those as well! Some friends have had the burritos and tortas and were equally impressed, but I'm so addicted to my mainstays I don't stray very often. Can't express my love for this place enough. Con Madre Kitchen has my business for life (and maybe the afterlife, too - why wouldn't there be tacos like this in heaven?). read more

Absolutely amazing. I tried the tacos and a burrito. I had a chorizo, egg, and cheese taco, and a steak, bean, and queso fresco taco and both earn an A+, but I will say the steak is my favorite. Very high quality steak for a taco truck! I also had a chicken burrito later that night for dinner which was excellent as well. I highly recommend 10/10. Also, the order taker there was so kind and sweet, and very helpful in choosing what to eat as it was my first visit to Con Madre. I believe her name was Allie or Avery.
