I ordered the Fish and Chips and they said they were out of it but that I could get a fish PoBoy... that they use the same type of fish for and it's not like they were out of fries. Then we got the cream of crab soup and it was absolutely terrible, it tasted like straight flour. It shouldn't take 30 minutes to get a bowl of soup that's cold and tastes like that. Then we waited an hour for our food and after that we decided to get up and leave. We paid for our appetizer and drinks. Meanwhile the manager tells us that he will comp our meal that wasn't even out yet! YOU CAN'T COMP SOMETHING WE NEVER GOT! Horrible experience. Ordered over the phone at 5:15 for a 6:30 pickup. Wouldn't take credit card over phone. Got there at 6:25 and stood on a long line because there was no difference between those ordering takeout and those picking up. Stood in line for 20 minutes before paying at 6:45pm. Was told "wait outside we will call you when ready" After 45 minutes, someone came out and said "they have orders inside that are just sitting there". So went inside, and our order had been sitting there for who knows how long. Finally walked out with food at 7:30pm. Got home, everything was cold. Then we realized we were missing 4 main entrees. Tried to call them. No one picked up. Had to go all the way back and "oh, sorry, we forgot to put them in the bag". Some of the family didn't eat until after 8pm. Everything was cold. We were on a girls trip to OCMD and needed some solid sustenance after a long day at the beach. Although it was prime dinner time and we had a 45 minute wait, we did not mind it too much thanks to their notification texts. Their large burger was two flat patties of frozen burgers and only came one way... Medium well. So they were premade, I know they were frozen, and they were awful with absolutely no flavor. My husband had that and it came with sweet potato wedges which were disgustingly cold and we were there before pick up time to get them. I had the The ahi tuna which they did away with as their appetizer. I Always loved that appetizer. I had to have it as a dinner. It was way too expensive with a piece over a salad which had no flavor. We were sooo very disappointed. It was always a go to place for us. No more! Sat down with the Mrs for 15 minutes and nobody bothered to attend to us at the Deck bar. Heard good things before going and was really disappointed. I think the food here is absolutely delicious but they really have to do something about the flies. We ordered a dozen raw oysters which were large and delicious, and one of their platters that had steamed food including large crabs and clams mussels shrimp and corn. Not only was this a great price but all the seafood it was really good quality. Simply done everything was boiled a little seasoning and the crabs specially had a lot of meat to them. It's almost ironic that my favorite thing on the whole plate was the corn. I had to be local or the best corn I've ever had. The snow crab was cooked great the meat came out easily and it was just simple seafood done well. I really think this place is a four I like it a lot I like the menu and service is decent. Having have been here a few times this has been an issue but not like this time. There were flies all over the place and it was grossing me out. As we are eating our seafood platter flies kept landing on our seafood. In addition I was next to a window and I put my drink up there to make room on the table and there were dead flies on the windowsill. We've gone here several times and it never disappoints. Today I had the "steamer pot" with two crabs, a snow crab cluster, 1/2 lb of shrimp, corn on the cob and potatoes. I added a second cluster (vacation- don't judge me LOL) and it was about 60.00. It was loaded with Old Bay- anyplace is skimp on the seasoning, but the whole pot was delicious top to bottom. The crabs were heavy, meaty and really delicious. The snow crab clusters were frankly some of the largest I've ever seen. Most snow crab clusters are pretty unremarkable but these really were quite large and no missing legs either. The steamed shrimp were not de-veined, but this is fairly common in restaurants, so no points off. I just take the time to do the work at the table, but I wish more restaurants would get the split backed shrimp that are already prepped. By the end of it, I was thoroughly stuffed, and really happy with the experience. Our waiter was very attentive, and checked in often. This place can be hectic, so if you're not feeling the love by your server, just try to make eye contact with someone and raise your hand. It's a crab shack - not Morton's. Someone will help you out. PRO-TIP- go early for a big lunch. We went at around 2 PM and there was no line. This goes on the list of must-do's every year. read more

I make really good crabs at home so my opinion matters. The crabs here were good. The seasoning was very salty, though. The blonde hostess this afternoon at about 2:30pm wasn't very welcoming. I don't know if she was having a bad day but that's not the person I'd want greeting the people entering my restaurant. My first time to the Crab Bag. The service was very good. The crabs were perfect. Seasoning was delicious. The crabs were sweet and fresh. We also has their Fried Chicked. It was also crisp and fresh. Worth every penny. This year 2020, the price of crabs are up. This is due to the limitation of crab availability. The crabs are not as prevalent in the bay. The food was just ok. The crab legs were pretty good. The service was horrible. The waiter was clueless. First the waiter took forever to bring the drinks to the table. The appetizers came out before the drinks. Like how does this happen. Had to ask for drinks because they were not brought out in a timely manner. Snow crab clusters, old bay steamed shrimp, fried chicken..great place for Maryland style takeout

We have had lunch here twice and dinner once. The first time we went for dinner I had a fried soft shell crab po boy and it did not disappoint. For a soft shell crab it was pretty big, came on a nice bun with fresh toppings. Believe it or not their wings are actually really good, they have numerous different sauces you can choose from, me personally, the hotter the better. I got the mango habanero and XXX hot and they were both excellent. Next time around we came for lunch. I decided to try a deli sandwich which are named after famous people. I had the George Clooney which is a "triple decker" with double meet. Let me tell you this sandwich was massive, it's actually the deli sandwich I am holding in my cover photo. It was really good, it came with fresh pit beef they smoke in house and a side if fresh potato chips with old bay seasoning. I know that they're known for their steamed crabs and crab pots, but I haven't had a bad meal here yet. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

We have come to OCMD for 9 years and have eaten at Crab Bag maybe 3 times. First was ok. The second time we got the Maryland Broiler and the Mahi Mahi was very over cooked. The Manager said that's the way it always comes out. The scallops were very good so we just let it go. That was in August 2018. We returned to Crab Bag on August 12,2019. It was at 5:00 pm and the place was surprisingly empty. We put in an order for two children and got it in about 10 minutes. We then put our order in for 6 adults and after 65 minutes of watching other tables getting their food and not us, I asked for the manager. The waiter came back every 5-10 minutes to say it was almost ready. We finally had the manager bring the food to us after a 75 minute wait and I had to ask if she was the manager. I asked what the problem was and commented that the place was practically empty what took so long? She said it isn't empty and they're very busy and offered no apology whatsoever. We hopefully will be coming back to OCMD for many more years but the Crab Bag will not be one of our stops. Adequate food, but too many good places here in OCMD to chose from. Could have lived with the food if the management was somewhat courteous. A sign of the times, a nasty world even when you're paying for it! read more

Came here per the suggestion of our hotel clerk at the Comfort Inn Suites (also located on Coastal Highway). Both the food and service left quite a lot to be desired. The main entrance is on the side of the building at the rear. We had to walk past the full trash cans in order to reach the outdoor hostess station. I found that off-putting. When my mother, father, niece, nephew and myself arrived we were told that there was no where to sit inside the restaurant. We were fine with that until we watched a family that walked up five minutes after us be escorted inside the establishment. (Shady much?) The hostess then proceeds to seat us next to a trash can with flies buzzing around it. There were at least seven tables available besides that one - so we couldn't understand why. However, we did request a different table (initially she protested stating, "oh, the can is empty though..." which I found equally problematic.) Our server was nice, but a bit impatient. I can understand her having a lot of tables to take care of, but before we stat down there was only one other family seated in the outdoor area with us. I think maybe this place's saving grace is the steamed crabs, but we came for the regular menu options. I had a broiled crab cake and sweet potato fries (as well as my niece), my mother had broiled fish, my five year old nephew had a cheeseburger and I honest do not remember what my father had. My niece nor I enjoyed the crab cakes. My mother did not like her fish. We all had the same complaint: it was not seasoned well and was not brown and crispy despite being "broiled". My nephew described his burger as "hard" and didn't eat much of it. His fries were cold. We told our server. She did allow my mother to send her dish back. She got a pulled chicken sand which instead - it was just ok. The server also brought out hotter fries for my nephew. It took forever to flag down our server to receive our bill. That being said, the saving grace for this review was a person on staff giving my nephew a stuffed shark toy. That was the high-light of my nephew's trip. Apparently it was left there by another child. I'm hoping this place was just having an off day judging by the other reviews I've read. It was a bit expensive for a family of five. $100 + for food we didn't think was very good. Maybe the steamed crabs would have been a better option, but we honestly were looking for a real seafood meal. In my opinion, if you too are looking for a meal you may want to consider your options. I'll have to go down 2 stars, my family came down today and we were planning this for a couple weeks. We went to the website and they had their all you can eat feasts listed on the home page so we all had our hearts set on a feast. When we got there I said that I would take the crab feast #1 and she looked at me like I was nuts. Then she said, "we haven't had the all you can eat in a long time." I was beside myself as for years we go and get one of the feasts and as of tonight they are still listed on the site. The menu is way too cluttered, it's a nightmare. I forgot to mention that in my last review. When you have that many items on a menu quality takes a beating. She offered all you can eat snow crabs so I took that for $25 and they brought out 1.5 clusters that were dry, the 2nd batch was 1/2 frozen, the 3rd batch was pretty good and the last batch was salty and dry. So, I had about 7 clusters if you want to call it that and threw out a bunch, I also waited about 20 mins between each little serving. As for the rest of the food I sampled, it just seemed like bar food. Some may say, well it is a bar but 5 little crab balls for $12.95? A salad with seafood on it for $20? It's crazy for the quality you get, there were 4 of us and 1 only had the mac and cheese for like $8 and a fake iced tea. The bill was $162 with a $33 tip so what a train wreck. Terrible, terrible, terrible carry out experience. After my mom and brother were stuck in traffic for hours trying to get to OC we decided to get to go from the Crab Bag. There were 6 of us total and we all put in our order when we were told it would take 30 minutes. It is very nice that they have a completely separate carryout building apart from the main restaurant, however there isn't enough seating to wait for 30 minutes so we went into the restaurant to get some beers. 25 minutes later we went to check on the food.... apparently they have been calling our name since a little after we placed to order because they were out of the brisket (maybe get phone numbers with to go orders next time?).... I told them pulled pork would be fine, but guess what, they hadn't even started anything from our order because they were waiting for our answer... WHAT? We waited all this time and they haven't started anything!?!?!?!?!!? Another 20 minutes later (we are all STARVING and aggravated and anxious) we get the food home and open the boxes to find out that 50% of our order was correct, and 50% was either wrong or not even in the bag! We were missing side dishes, we had fried food that was supposed to be broiled, we had wrong items. It was a mess, but we were so hungry we didn't bother with it. FYI - I did notice a sign hanging in the carryout area that said something like, when you take your to go order off the premises we are no longer liable for wrong items... I thought that was odd and kind of rude for a business to say, but assumed it was for the crabs... but no no no it looks like they get things wrong a LOT and just aren't taking responsibility for it. On a positive note, the ladies at the carryout counter were very nice, one even gave us a small sample of a fried chicken wing, they claim that their fried chicken is "Worlds Best"........ it was damn good. I don't usually have a craving for fried chicken while in OC, but it was freakin' good. read more

Crab Bag is a "has been" for quality seafood restaurants. This at one time was a better-than-good go-to for crabs, seafood platters, and other Maryland entrees. No more- my last (and probably final) time coming here was just short of major disappointment. We entered the establishment on a week night after the Labor Day holiday: the place was busy, as usual, and good seating was nowhere in sight; we ended up getting a cramped table in a corner upstairs, next to an irritating air vent. The waiter was unenthusiastic about helping us- he seemed impatient and restless when we asked several questions about the platters, soups, and drinks. We asked for more time, and he didn't come back to our table until nearly 15 minutes later (I timed him). The wait for our food was arduous, over 25 minutes. It was obvious they were short-staffed. Once the food arrived, I noticed my vegetable was nearly cold- probably had been sitting around on some serve-shelf while they broiled the fish. Not good. The food quality was marginal: the crabs were dry and less-than-tasty, the broiled seafood platter was okay, but not as good as I once remembered, the baked beans were from a can and not as warm as they should have been. The soup was good, but if you mess up crab soup in Maryland, I think state law dictates you are to be tarred-and-feathered. Crab Bag has a lot of work to do in becoming a better-than-average seafood restaurant. It's obvious something has changed- new management, maybe a new owner. Whatever it is, we walked out $90 poorer (two people, and this was without ordering drinks or dessert!) feeling cheated, especially knowing this place used to be a lot better. There are too many other quality crab/seafood restaurants in Ocean City to be dealing with amateur restaurateurs so I don't think I'll be coming back here in the future. read more

Been coming to this same spot for decades... Yes DECADES. Started in the early 90's and haven't had a bad experience. Sure sometimes the larger crabs are in short supply and expensive, but that isn't their fault, at all, blame global warming, and microeconomics! And they tend to get better selection than many other locations in MD and nearby DE shoreline. The pony bottles of rolling rock, in a bucket of ice, when sitting down at a wood picnic table, and eating crabs until your fingers are burning from the Old Bay seasoning in the micro-abrasions is a way of life in the DELMARVA area.... And no place does it like the Crab Bag. Colder than cold beer, and steamed crabs with a healthy dose of old bay are the hallmarks of this "dive" location (I mean that affectionately). Try it out. And don't wander too far from the streamed crabs and steamed clams. I can't vouch for much of the other stuff! read more

I love looking at these low ratings saying, "took a long time to get a seat" or...ordered King Crab Legs and they weren't the world's best. People, THIS IS OCEAN CITY. You come here for ONE reason and ONE reason only. To eat crabs. And Crab Bag has had amazing crabs every time we've gone. Sat at the bar two years in a row, and were served impeccably and yes, crabs were expensive, 189.00 a dozen for Jumbos, AND WORTH EVERY PENNY. And, the half and half soup has so much crab in it it's ridiculous. Ridiculously good that is. Can't wait to go back again. And, remember people, you're in Maryland. The crab bag was an awful experience. We arrived, we waited, we got our food, we sent it back, we waited, we ate, we waited. It took us more than 3 hours to get out of there. I think we waited almost 2 hours to get our dinners and half of them were inedible. I had to buy dinner at 10 p.m. somewhere else (we arrived at the Crab Bag at 5:30) and I still had to pay for my dinner at the Crab Bag even though I didn't eat it on their second try (cold followed by nuked until inedible.) My cousin's children fell asleep on the tables waiting and this was easily our worst evening in the area (and possibly one of the worst attempts at food I have ever seen.) Maybe it was a fluke; one server off the game for an evening. If you dare to go, maybe you'll have a better experience than we did; but I will never return. read more

Love this place but yesterday I fell out of love. Yeah, I like the $1.50 drafts during happy hour, and the specials there are really good (9-10 oz lobster tail and two sides for $20). Oysters Rockefeller are amazing, and grilled on the bbq. All you can eat crabs with slaw, corn from the grill and french fries $25 is a good deal. But, and it may be my bad for going on a Monday afternoon, our crabs were light, medium size and not as tasty as I like. So next time I go, I will stick with a dozen ex large or jumbos and call first to make sure they have them. Yesterday I shoulda gone with the lobster tail. There is always a next time, but will it be at the Crab Bag, Jakes, HIggins or Blue Crab? read more
