Hey Hey Kids! First time at Crust Simply Italian...and there's nothing Krusty here...no clowns either. Stepping inside I expected a more intimate atmosphere, but was met with hard floors, open space in a more industrial-style building. Not typically my go-to setting as places like this can be quite loud. It was louder than I like inside with some 80s rock playing and voices echoing around...but after a few minutes it didn't bother me anymore. Our server was great and gave us a rundown on their menu and specialties. We were drawn to try the whipped ricotta appetizer and glad we did...it was unlike any appetizer I've had before...basically a smooth and sweet spread for the bread that accompanied it. We each ordered a pasta dish for our main meal...I got a spicy sausage pasta and my wife ordered the Tortellini alla Panna. The pasta was perfect sized for dinner and I was able to get a few bites of the tortellini from my wife. Both dishes were excellent. I spied a few dishes from around the restaurant and everything looked good. The to-go section was bustling with activity the entire time and the place was full except a few seats at the bar. I definitely will return and try some different dishes or their pizza! Thanks Crust for the great evening!

The food was amazing here! I got myself a Chicken Alfredo, I wish they had broccoli but other than that it was very creamy and delicious. My boyfriend got the New York, he scarfed it down no problem. He wishes the ranch serving was bigger but the server happily brought him more. The server was very nice and friendly, he made sure everything was good. The ambiance was great, I loved the vibes, the music and atmosphere. The place was pretty empty wich I find nice. Overall 10/10 I'd definitely come back here again as well as recommend it to others!

This was my first time here and I will definitely be back! I brought my family, which includes my 1.5 year old nephew and picky eater in-laws. Every person absolutely loved their meal! The baby got a kids menu to choose off and he went with the chicken nuggets and fries. The lot of us got quite a variety of dishes: spaghetti & meatballs, a VERY generous portion of the classic; the bruschetta chicken pasta, plated gorgeously with a balsamic glaze; a chopped Italian salad sandwich, which was enormous but light, and plenty juicy without being sloppy; the braised short rib, seated on a bed of wild mushroom risotto that I'll be thinking about for weeks to come. We also shared the garlic bread rolls, which were so fluffy buttery! The service was prompt and very friendly, the servers taking time to check in. We were not the only table with a young child, and it was a very cheerful family-friendly atmosphere with lots of light. There was also a bar for adults dining alone, and for noon on a Sunday it wasn't terribly crowded! The portions were so generous that almost everyone took a to-go box, but the bill was shockingly reasonable! A family of six shared two apps, got five adults and one kids entree and we each had non-alcoholic beverages for just under $140! I knew we would be back after seeing that check and how happy everyone was. Also, there is plentiful parking which is a big factor for downtown Gilbert. I look forward to next time! What a beautiful day for Italian pizza we had late lunch here. Upon walking in we're greeted right away with genuine smiles! Front desk lady was so sweet! She seated us and a waitress came by also so kind. I love it when we just feel welcomed & taken care of. So 1,000% service was there! Food was delicious! Perfect amount of spicy & savoryness, bread balls was good not sure what it's called but I posted pictures. They had a $10 lunch special as well. You get a slice of pizza & salad! Great deal! Overall we left so fully & happy!

First time visiting Crust and I thought it was just okay. I ordered the ricotta appetizer and that was probably the best part of my meal. The bread was soft and well paired with the ricotta. However, I ordered the angel hair pomodoro and added chicken, and the pasta itself needed more sauce. My mother in law also ended up having to order a side of sauce for her pasta as well. Service was great though, our server was constantly filling up our drinks and got our orders in quick. With us being a bigger party, our food did take a bit to come out.

At a restaurant called Crust I'd expect the bruschetta bread to be crustier. Toasted. Formidable. Hefty. The texture was lowkey distracting. Ordered the mushroom bruschetta which didn't end up in our trio. It sounded delicious and I'd love to report, but through no fault of my own I'm unable to do so. Whatever we were served, the ingredients themselves were tasty tho. The husband ordered the veggie calzone, and I got the meatball sub. Meatball sub tasted fine. Very fine. All the boxes were checked. Did they go above and beyond? Not really. Flavor felt processed and mass produced. Perfunctory. The husband was impressed w his veggie calzone. Tasted homemade. Service was uninvested, but the wine was flowing so I'm not mad abt it.

Had a great meal here a few weeks ago. The wait on a Friday evening was maybe an hour or less, I can't remember, but not bad. Our server was beyond great, the food was tasty, and the drinks were flowing. We'll definitely be back!

We made a 6 PM indoor reservation by phone, and the hostess who took it was very kind and professional, which made us look forward to returning. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to that first impression. We were seated outside despite reserving inside, and after dealing with several flies around our food, we had to request multiple times before finally be moved indoors - carrying most plates ourselves. Once inside, service felt disorganized. Salads arrived while appetizer plates were still on the table, and several dishes came out cold. Calamari was okay, garlic knots okay. I'd skip the bacon wrapped shrimp. My short rib was extremely tough and cold, so I sent it back. My house salad was not dressed properly and scarce of veg. My son's Caesar salad arrived without chicken, and my other son's pizza also came out cold and in the shape of a pizza peel. Not sure if this is meant to be creative but it does cut down on quality of pizza and taste. Also costs the establishment less. The manager offered a slice of pizza - we accepted. It arrived much later and went uneaten, due to it being a slice of focaccia with melted cheese on top and 2 slices of pepperoni. yet we were initially charged $10 for it (it was removed when we asked). Our server was kind and apologetic throughout, but overall there seemed to be little coordination between staff and kitchen, and no manager checked in despite multiple issues.

CRUST... I mean, with a name like that, the crust had better be good, right?! Well, I'm happy to report they absolutely understand what's up -- and they even offer a gluten-free crust that is seriously next level! We were lucky enough to be seated with Kailey, who also happens to be GF, which made the whole ordering experience so easy and fun. It's always such a treat when someone gets it and can help guide you through the menu! To start, we shared the bacon-wrapped shrimp as an appetizer (I skipped the bread, but my husband happily took care of that part ). The shrimp were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor -- such a yummy way to kick things off! For my main, I ordered Nicky's Burrata Pizza with the GF crust and holy smokes... this pizza was incredible! It had the perfect little kick of spice, the burrata was dreamy, and the crust? PHENOMENAL. Like truly -- you would never guess it was gluten-free. Total pizza bliss! And because we clearly have zero self-control around good pizza, we were way too full to tackle dessert there... so we took the GF Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte home to enjoy later. Let me just say... WOW. Ooey, gooey, rich, chocolatey perfection. And once again, you'd never know it was GF! All in all, this place was a huge win for the gluten-free crowd. Amazing food, great service, and a crust that absolutely lives up to the name!

Loved Crust! I am big into wood fire pizza and this pizza surprised me by how good it was. The sauce was the right level of sweet to savory, and the cheese was fresh mozzarella on top so wasn't greasy at all! The servers were really friendly and attentive as well. Everyone in our group raved about their food!

Great place! Loved the vibe and decor of the restaurant, Upscale, very clean, very classy. Service was as expected. No complaints, prompt, polite. The food was solid!! Had the chicken parm and a pappardelle with a bolognese. Both were excellent. Only complaint wad the roll I got was very hard/dry. But everything else was solid so Ill stick with 5 stars. Would return.

First time in East Valley and needed quick dinner after flying in. One of few places that actually takes reservations. Cute place but VERY loud. Took good 15 minutes before anyone approached the table and the service was oh so slow... out of wine bottle listed on the menu. When you order foods comes out within minutes, salad and dinner entree was not stacked up.. just had that " chain restaurant" feel. Might try it one more time....

Food was very tasty. The pizza is covered in oil which really makes eating it unpleasant. Oh if you order a cup of soup from Tiff, she doesn't even courtesy warn you that they don't have cups. She just says oh the small one and brings you out a full on bowl. I think the large is probably a family style shareable one. Poor souls that order a large from Tiff just for themselves, hope they are hungry. Definitely do not go anywhere near closing time. No warning that the kitchen is closing. You are just left wanting to order more and nope kitchen closed. Sitting there like WTF I'm still hungry. Refills are few and far between. Clearly they want you out when they start asking to clear your plates as you are still nibbling on the last crumbs you are getting because the kitchen crew has places be right at 9:00 PM. read more

Went here for the first time on a Monday night. Food was great! But the service definitely needs some work. There was a lot of miscommunication between the wait staff and the kitchen. It seems to me that they kept handing out food to the wrong tables We did not receive any napkins or utensils and had to ask 2 different people They do not refill the water, instead they bring out more water cups for the table and don't remove the empty ones. At one point we had 8/9 cups on a table for 3 We ordered 3 appetizers and one of them came out wrong, luckily it was quickly fixed with no issues We also ordered 3 entrees, one of them was almost handed to the wrong table as we watched him wander around and then admit to us he did not know where the food was supposed to go. And another one came out wrong. Only to see that ours was sitting at the kitchen window. There was definitely miscommunication there Very awkward night after having to replace 2 of our dishes Food was delicious over all, the hostess was amazing! There is also little to no internet here, I assume that has to be because of how new the construction in this area is. I would like to return another night to try some of the pasta, hopefully things are put together by then. read more

First time I've ever eaten at crust, I enjoyed it tremendously. I ordered the Sicilian pizza, which was incredible, a personal thin crust pizza, which was very good, Grandma's spaghetti, which came with meatballs and Italian sausage, and the bruschetta. I will say that everything that I had was absolutely fantastic and I would recommend giving this place a try anytime you're in the neighborhood. read more

Penne Alla Scottsdale This spot in Gilbert at Verde is perfect. Really nice knowledgeable wait staff. Kid friendly, dining indoors & out & a speakeasy Terrific Italian food (east coast girl here) and drinks--prosecco & Pellegrino, among other libations. Food is great & they sell sauce & meatballs in containers at the front door (always better the next day, right? ) so you're set for your Monday meal. We go at least once a week. read more

My parents and I tried Crust Simply Italian for the first time yesterday, 2/24. We've watched the whole complex being built, as my parents live only a few miles north of there. We went around noon, which was great, as it wasn't crowded at all. The "garage" doors were all open and the weather was absolutely perfect. Business was picking up more throughout our time there. I'm guessing it can get more crowded as the day goes on. The inside is very spacious, light, and open feeling. Not that dark, crowded feeling that other places tend to have. We sat just inside the garage doors in a booth. All the booths inside are half-booths, meaning the other side has chairs. We sat at the end section, so the three of us all had a booth seat. The patio has full booths, and it looks really nice, especially for this time of year. When we walked in, we were greeted right away and taken to our seats. We had a waiter and a waitress who was in training. Both were extremely nice, friendly, helpful, attentive, hard-working. Exactly what you want when it comes to wait staff. I ordered an iced tea, and it was so good! When a restaurant serves really good iced tea, they go right to the top of my list. My parents both order water most of the time, so my mom took a taste of the tea and said, "ooh, that is really good." For lunch I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. It came with three big meatballs, a full plate of pasta, and a soft, yummy roll. The meatballs were so good, I pretty much finished them off first, with bites of spaghetti in between. Lol! I then ate more spaghetti until I was full and have plenty left over for my dinner today. Just wish I had some more meatballs now. I did see they have a counter and the entrance with items like sauces, meatballs, etc., you can purchase to go. That's pretty cool! My mom got the chicken parmesan, and my dad had the chicken marsala. It was funny because they both received their sides of pasta first while I received my full plate. I looked at them like, they ordered two different items, but they look identical and on the small side for a main entree. And both my parents were thinking, "That's it?" LOL! But then their plates came! Oh, my goodness!! My mom's was two giant pieces of chicken parmesan, like huge! And my dad's plate was full of chicken marsala. (Just a note that it does come on the bone.) A lady sitting a couple seats down from us, looked at our food and said, "Oh, my goodness. Good luck with all that." The chicken parmesan looked amazing! Like the best I've ever seen. I will definitely have to try it next time. My mom said it was really good. She had a whole piece of chicken and some pasta left to take home. My dad enjoyed his chicken marsala and pasta. He said it was very good. Again, it does come on the bone, so maybe not quite as much food to eat as it first appears. Don't get me wrong, still a lot of food. He enjoyed every bite! He wants to try the parmesan next time as well. The atmosphere of the entire complex is perfect. It has a very peaceful, calming effect. It's a beautiful area. We saw people out playing some games. Lots of different types of businesses than you normally see that will be fun to check out and some spaces still yet to be filled. Very enjoyable afternoon for us. First time - it's a busy place on weekends . The fireplace outside is nice touch . Tried the bruschetta trio - very tasty - although mushroom was not my favorite. The consistency of mushroom was off . We ordered Eggplant parm and Angel Hair pesto with shrimp . It's a lighter but filling dish . Shrimps were grilled - lacked little seasoning. I recommend making a reservation especially for weekends because this place is popping! But well worth it! We had an amazing meal that included two cocktails (spicy marg and sorry not sorry), bruschetta, whipped ricotta, and two pasta dishes. Everything was so delicious and our service was amazing. We had a very personable and helpful waitress who checked on us throughout and gave us great recommendations. My husband and I have decided this is our new date spot. 10/10 read more

Alright, Crust was delicious! Super cute inside w/ full bar - we sat outside because the weather was just perfect! The server was sooo nice and able to answer our questions about the pizza. We started w/ the calamari which were just enough crispy and the marinara dipping sauce was so good! We then enjoyed "grandmas" pizza and wow! So so good! First time customer and last time customer. First the positive ... service was really good. Had chicken Marsala and was very over cooked, lacked seasoning and tasted zero of Marsala. One of the worst chicken Marsala I have ever had. Seems salt is not something they use. We had my grand daughter with us who is 10 months but they had zero chairs available for her. Food is very over priced. The place itself was clean and pretty nice. read more

Crust. Crust is becoming my middle name. I love this place. It is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant. I come here every week on Friday nights and sit at the bar. Every Friday night Tara is my bartender and sever and she is always amazing. She makes the best drinks, is the sweetest person, and makes the environment even better. I love Crust because the food is always iconic (go gluten free pizza !!!!), and the ambiance is to die for. Y'all! The new Crust in Gilbert is FANTASTIC! they gave me a quick tour of their new speakeasy, The Blue Heron, and I'm so glad (or in trouble) that we live within walking distance of this fine establishment *tip: if you ask, they will gladly give you a quick tour too! I had a spicy prickly pear margarita, which I've never had before, and it combines my two favorite types of margaritas so freaking good! And their pizza (Uncle Louie) was awesome--the crust was perfection! I've also had the burrata (amazing), the meat and cheese board (huge and delicious), and the calamari, which might be the best I've ever had!! The wine selection is pretty sweet ($6 wines all day until 6pm)! Their cocktail menu is very different and enticing! I'm gushing because my overall experience was just super Kids menu is also available and they're very kid-friendly! The ice cream is "spaghetti (vanilla) and a meatball (chocolate)" with cherry sauce drizzled over it--my 3 year old approved! I almost forgot to mention who made my experience so wonderful!! Megan, Shalyn, and Ashton are all AWESOME the rest of the crew is fantastic and attentive as well, but I guess I need to go in more to learn all of their names (challenge accepted)! First time patrons and we will be back! We are always looking for a great place to kick back on a Friday after a long week of work. They offer happy hour M- F til 6. It was super busy even at 450 when we walked in with a 20-30 min wait for indoor seating. Outside patio was available and definitely looked inviting for a warmer evening but it was a bit chilly. We were lucky to find 2 seats at the bar. Great service there with full menu offering. We had a few dishes off the happy hour menu and tried the strawberry shrimp caprese salad off the full menu. salad was delish. Meat and cheese board allowed for a variety but not overly overwhelming with options. Came with focaccia that had a perfectly toasted edge and soft warm inside. We also got both the NY and Margherita pizza. I know- a lot for 2 ppl but just enough for us to bring home leftover pizza for our kids. Great food all together. No complaints. Full bar options. No wait for an outside table on Saturday night, quickly seated. Kyle was great, he was funny and patient with us. For appetizers, we got bruschetta and calamari. Calamari was good. The wild mushroom and fig & mascarpone bruschetta were really good. Artichoke was ok. Caprese barely tasted like anything. I got the chicken marsala and it was not good at all. I tried to eat half of it because I was hungry and trying to make sense of what I was eating. The pasta was a bit tough and bland. The chicken was also incredibly bland. (The Olive Garden chicken marsala is 100% better...) I had 3 other people try it out just to make sure that it wasn't just me and we all agreed that it was absolute crap. It tasted like it was trying to be chow mein (????), but failed miserably. Not a taste I'd expect from an Italian meal. I've never been to a Crust Simply Italian before, and was pleasantly surprised. I was taken here for a birthday dinner, this location in Gilbert is situated in a very nice shopping area. The restaurant itself is nice and open with a good sized bar in the middle of the room and seating on all sides, and a few T V s so you can watch your favorite sports while enjoying a cocktail. They have a decent sized patio also, and when the weather is this nice it's a great place to be. We had a awesome server who was friendly and attentive and made our night. Ok now the best part was of course the food we had a Caesar Salad and calamari for a starter followed with a few different pizzas. Everything we had was delicious and we look forward to returning soon. read more

We walked in and were quoted by a manager a 30-40 min wait time and then ended up waiting 70 minutes. I had to walk up and ask when we were going to be seated because we were way past the quoted time, only to be sat and see 7 min empty tables just sitting there. First and for most this place has the best garlic knots in all of Phoenix hands down, with a delicious Diablo sauce to dip, very good fried mozzarella, amazing Caesar salad. And above all their sicilian pizza was very unique and one for the memory books too! The bartender made me a "sorry not sorry" drink which basically tasted like a Strawberry Lemonade and it was one of the best cocktails ever. The Manager on duty's his name was Sean, he was extremely nice welcoming and above all made sure our experience was comforting and eventful as it was a birthday celebration. Meet the Business Owner: Michael M.

Michael spent his childhood learning and perfecting his family's Italian recipes until it was time to join the family business. Francesca's, the family's pizzeria on Long Island, is where Michael's father created Pizza Rustica in celebration of the Pizzetta from back home. The Pizza Rustica stands as the cornerstone of the menu for Crust Simply Italian when the first restaurant opened in 2007. The combination of growing up and learning the Italian culinary traditions, making mealtime family time, and working tirelessly in his family's pizzeria have all culminated into the inspiration to create Crust Simply Italian. A neighborhood gathering place where his family could share the culinary traditions of Italy, his family, Long Island, and his own passion for cooking and serving others. When the pizza finally arrived, it was delicious. But basic things like Parmesan and pepper weren't offered. I had to flag someone down to ask. And even though we'd just received our food, the lights on the patio were turned off while we were eating, and we were brought a box very quickly, which felt like a not-so-subtle hint to leave. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. Loved the set up on the table for a grab a plate and add some delicious items (pizza, wings, and salad) with drinks/cups on another table. I can see this set up working for graduations as that season is coming up, baby showers, birthday parties, or even just a date night sitting in one of their booths. It is the kind of food that sticks in your memory long after you leave. Honestly, if I lived close to the Power Road location, I would have a very difficult time staying away. I was about ready to write the place off. But then Aubrey, our server, came through and saved the day. I recently visited Crust Simply Italian, and unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. After being seated by the hostess and given a menu, I waited for a long time for someone to take my drink order. Despite my patience, no one came. To make matters worse, two families were seated after me, and their orders were taken before mine. It felt as though my presence was completely ignored, and after a considerable wait, I decided to leave. As much as I wanted to enjoy a meal here, the lack of attention and disregard for my time was unacceptable. I won't be returning and can't recommend this restaurant based on my experience. read more

Ok so I've been to crust multiple times and it feels like it's getting worse each time. Today we came for lunch and the pizza slice and salad was just so sad. The pizza was reheated and "little Caesar's" quality. The salad looks sad hell, and the ranch was sooo watered down. We spent $70 for lunch and we would love to have enjoyed any part of this lunch. Service was great! They gave us a perfect round table for seven even though it looked like there was going to be a wait. Wait time - zero minutes! Appetizers were great especially the meatballs! We also had the Caesar salad, Nicky's Burratta pizza, Goodness Greenness salad, and the Tortellini Alla Panna. They were delicious! Dessert was the shining star! Cannoli was amazing! We knew we wanted wine but didn't know exact we wanted, so we annoyingly asked for many tasters to try to figure out which bottle we wanted to purchase. When she finally brought out my main dish, she even apologized for the wait and said "I had to go yell at them". For a main entree I ordered the French dip with onion rings, another reviewer mentioned they were the best they had had. The meat was kind of tough and dry (which is odd for a French Dip, and everything just lacked flavor. Even the au jus really had no kind of salt or much flavor to it. I really hoped after seeing how everyone else rated this place that I had found that little hole in the wall spot putting out killer food that we all long for, sadly this wasn't it.

The cake was the best part of our meal and it didn't come from Culinary Dropout. I would pay this much for a meal at Roy's for lunch for this sized party, but alas, all the Roy's in the valley are closed down. So sad. I'm not saying this place is bad or the food tastes bad. It's okay and pricey. If the food was great or amazing, we don't mind pricey. We have paid over $1K for meals for our big party, and happily do so when the food is equivalent to the price.

I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful and perfectly cooked it was! Would definitely order that again. Such a nice option, if you are enjoying the casino with good menu variety, although it is a little pricey. Atmosphere (5/5): The decor and over styling of the restaurant is very well done. It's spacious with different seating options (booth, tables or bar seating) Food (4/5): Although, I was blown away by the Steak, I couldn't give them a 5 due to other dishes not being quite up to the same quality. We ordered the Truffle Fries, Daily Soup, NY strip, and two cocktails. Price (3/5): The price is quite pricey in my opinion. Main entree's range from low 30s to 60. Definitely worth a try!

Having moved here recently, my wife and I are trying out different restaurants in the area. This…read moreone caught our eye and we were not disappointed. Although part of casino, you would never know that when you are inside the restaurant. Comfortable atmosphere, food was good (Wagyu Bolognese excellent), and our server was very attentive and pleasant. No excess waiting for anything. A little pricey, but we knew that going in and felt it was all worth it. We will be back.
