The chicken tikka masala here was surprisingly good. For $9 they give you a hefty portion of a protein, rice and a side. My friends and I ordered to go and went to central park to eat the meal. Chicken was plenty and flavorful, rice was standard and the veggies added a nice cleanser for the heavy curry. I also got mango lassi and OMG it's probably the best mango lassi I've ever had. Super rich and creamy and bursting with mango flavor. The food is displayed buffet style which is great cause you get to see the food right in front of you and then order what looks good. First time ordering from this restaurant. Decided to try something new in the neighborhood. Placed the order at 9:41pm and it was as canceled online at 10:30pm. Went to the place and the service was bland. The lady behind the counter was so overwhelmed with handling customer orders that she didn't pay attention to what my mom and I was telling her about the order. Then we were told that the delivery guy has the food and we will have to wait for him to bring it back to the store in order for us to get the food and the lady was hesitant to make us a new order of food. After about an hour the delivery driver finally came back and we paid for our food. All the lady did was give us was a free rice pudding and salad! She could've at least gave a discount for the food for the long wait. We didn't eat till almost 11pm! My mom said the food was okay. If it wasn't for the fact that it was late and that all the other places in the neighborhood were closed, we would've left. Is this what I get for trying something new...smh Never going back again! They definitely need more help behind the counter and learn some customer service etiquette. read more

I've been to this place once and I'm hooked. My dad and his friends often go to this place and he will always get chicken tikka to go for me to eat for lunch tomorrow. But oh man, eating it fresh was amazing. My family and I got their garlic and butter naan and it was super fresh. Their chicken makhani was creamy and delicious. Their best thing was their lamb chop! It's the best lamp chop I have ever had. They were juicy, perfectly seasoned and moist. I've been craving the food there and need to go back. Warning though, it's not a big restaurant and they are not to big on decor. I've read the negative comments. NYC Health Dept rates this place an A (highest possible rating). Each time I visit there are many repeat customers and I have quickly become accustomed to enjoying the spices. There's a TV in the sitting area with cultural shows. I had goat curry over rice. Unfortunately I could not enjoy it. It was full with bones, with very very few meat on bones. They have all the meals on the display and they heat them probably in the microwave before serving. What can you expect from a heated meal? I do not think I will come back for another time. A Naan Love Story: A friend and I walked into this place on a random Tuesday night. We each ordered a combo plate with chicken tikka and spinach for ~$10 each and a garlic naan as the lady hastily took our order as well as 3 other customers' at the same time. We got the food, sat down and dug into our plates. I slowly picked up the garlic naan and sunk my teeth into it. And then it happened... My senses were swiftly taken to Krispy Kreme. I had a fresh glazed donut at the entrance of my mouth, my tongue feeling the heat of the donut. Then suddenly... I was in India, standing before a street cart on a dusty road. The dough frying in the vat of oil stung my nose and eyes, but the fresh dough I had between my teeth placated my senses. Oh no not again... I was 5 years old in our family van taking my first bite of a Hershey's chocolate bar. I could feel the giddiness running through my veins. Or maybe it was sugar. It felt good though. Finally, I was back in Curry King staring at my friend across the table, and for a split second I could have SWORN that I felt true, undying, unconditional love. Then I came to my senses when i realized how weird my friend was looking at me. I offered it to him and witnessed his transformation as he traversed the stages. Worst experience. Kebab was raw in the middle and the samosas (which they initially forgot) came forty minutes later cold and greasy and with no mint or tamarind sauces for dipping ( an no flavor). Food ended up in the trash. They wouldn't refund. I should have trusted the other reviewers who've found bugs and other foreign objects in their food. I used to come here all the time. The chai is really amazing and the biryani is always fresh. However, this past time I saw two big cockroaches on the floor and the staff did nothing about it. This is our favorite place on the island to get Pakistani food. We've tried several spots down around Lexington and 28th and another around 107 and Columbus, but Curry King has won us over.
