Went to this place for a friends birthday with a party of 10 people. To start off there wasn't many parking spot. Food was ok.. not worth it for the price. Drinks were pretty good and the only thing I would recommend here. Overall a decent place to go drinking late nights with friends. I would've left 3 stars but they taxed us after tips for our bill, mind you tips are already pre set to 18% for large parties. Did not realize this until we did the math ourself . I really don't know what the heck I was thinking to walk in to this place and stayed even after looking at the menu. All I can say I was super hungry and in mood for some Korean food. Spicy rice cake with ramen costs $19!! And the side dish set was a joke. My hubby got a fried rice kimchi and meh, with just pretty much rice and kimchi it was just meh. But my biggest disappointment is with their pumpkin soup. If you grew up in Korea, that's something you miss when you are homesick and just want to eat something healthy and yummy. I've been wanting to check out Dae Bak for a while now and decided to pick up dinner from them last night. Since none of my friends were eating, I went conservative on my order and only got the Fried Chicken ($18) w/Spicy Sauce on the side. It comes with a salad of lettuce and pickled veggies, and a small container of cubed pickled daikon. The box of fried chicken is huge, and is an assortment of wing pieces- they cut the larger wings into smaller wing and drumstick pieces, and I want to say there were 10-12 pieces. They definitely looked like they were probably on steroids, but the chicken was really juicy and the batter super crispy and seasoned well. I loved the spicy sauce on the side and would just order that on the chicken the next time around- highly recommended! This is one of the better Korean Fried Chicken places in the South Bay, but only if you like your wings with a crispy batter. I will definitely be back to try their famous Watermelon Soju and Seafood Pancake, among other items. Parking can be tough since they don't have that many spots in the plaza (and some are reserved for other establishments), but there is some street parking available. read more

They don't specialize in one dish (e.g. tofu, bbq, chicken) but they have a great selection of classic korean dishes and street food. Reasonable prices and even better lunch deal! Been here several times and I haven't wrote a review yet! The environment here is really laid back and a bit secluded so your group can have their private area to turn the f*ck up :) I haven't tried a lot of the snacks but the one I've had were the corn cheese, kimchi fried rice, and the dumplings! I def recommend the kimchi fried rice, it was super good. As for the sojuuuu, I'm ALL for the Good Day sojus bc they're so fruity and yummy. I had no idea what to expect when I went to Dae Bak. It was recommended to me by my girlfriend, and I'm always down for a food adventure. The place is essentially a Korean dive bar that sells Korean street food, street food that has married with the American fast food scene. Prices are exorbitantly high; street food should has processed American cheese, canned corn, and vienna sausages tossed into it should not be that high (and that was in one of their hot pot soups!) Soju is ridiculously overpriced; we ordered the watermelon soju, and the most exciting thing about it was the dry ice presentation underneath the watermelon itself. The staff are very nice and helpful which is a major plus, but I can't eat and drink here due to the lack of value and quality. If you are, however, looking for a social atmosphere with little regard for good food and good drinks, this is your spot. read more

Recently ordered about $100 worth of food for one person take-out. I blame all the yelp photos for this. It is pricey, but good portions for sharing. This included cheese corn, fried chicken w/ spicy sauce on the side, LA Kalbi, pork belly kimchi fried rice w/ cheese, spam kimchi roll, & dae bak fries. I wouldn't order the dae bak fries again, but everything else was good. Everything with cheese added is better. The cheese does harden quickly if you do take-out since it's not on a piping hot sizzling platter. Sadly the dae bak fries had little to no cheese on it, barely any toppings really, and way too much sour cream. The fried chicken stayed very crispy - breading was light & airy, chicken was moist. I'll probably order the chicken with the sauce mixed on it next time. I didn't know how spicy it would be, so I asked for sauce on the side. The fried egg on top of the kimchi fried rice was a little overdone, but quite possible it kept cooking while it sat in the takeout box for an extra few minutes. The parking lot is small, but thankfully I went early before the kids came out to play and there were spaces available. There was a sketchy drunk man in the lot that wasn't a patron of any stores there, so if he's regularly hanging out in that plaza, that could be annoying. He had been sitting on the sidewalk with his juice when I pulled up and when I had to leave, he was standing behind my car. I didn't want to deal with him possibly running into my car & pretending that I backed up into him later, so I let him know I'm about to back out to leave and asked if he could move aside. Surprisingly, he got it and moved aside with no problems. Phew. There is another parking lot behind Tong Soon Garden that you can park in. Came here for the first time on a Saturday night and I must say, I only enjoyed their food. When we got there, they said they only take reservations but we didn't know that.. But thumbs up to one of the girls there (idk her name) and said she will see what she can do. I'll give her credit for that! Got seated in less than 10 minutes! But the service kinda went downhill from there. We had to buzz a few times to get someone to take our order or to simply just ask for something to the point that we were pretty much all either seating or standing around our table area waiting for someone to come and help us... and literally buzz-killed lol. For the food, I really like the fried chicken wings & dae bak fries! So yummy. The spam & kimchi rolls was okay. The drinks were okay too.. We sat in a private booth in the corner of the restaurant. If you need a server you can simply press a button, I have seen this at other places and love it. Pitchers of beer served in glowing lava lamp containers with pouring nozzle. Fruit drinks like watermelon soju and pineapple soju served in the whole fruit. So good. The military soup was hearty and a lot of ingredients granted nothing special but it definitely hit the spot. The menu says it feeds 2 people more like 5 lol. The dae bak fries had good flavor but there was something missing. The spicy bean paste sauce with the cheese worked really well together I just wish there was more meat to add more flavor and texture. The meat was cooked perfectly high quality meat with a lot of juice and flavor. The silkworms though. I grew some chest hair after eating those the waitress already warned me...I should've listened. I came with a friend on Friday at about 7 and was prompty seated. We ordered the beef stew, a aoju, and the seafood pancake. Our drinks came out quickly and the rest of the food within 10 minutes. The food was very filling considering we thought it would have been very small considering the price. Oh Dae Bak, you are amazing! I have been here on two separate occasions, one on the weekend and one around 6PM on a Thursday night. Food: It comes with banchae (not sure if that is what the little side dishes are called) that had some spicy vegetables. I wasn't too much of a fan, but I'm sure it was just because I am a baby when it comes to spicy foods. We ordered the Pork Belly Kimchi Fried Rice and Spicy Rice Cake, and both were pretty good! I would definitely order the Spicy Rice Cake again, since they were so nice to accommodate my request for a milder sauce! The fried rice was a little oily, but I would still recommend you check it out if you come here (: Drinks: Both times, I ordered the watermelon soju, and it was AH-mazing! It comes on a little thingy of dry ice, so it definitely has that cool factor when it first arrives at your table. It was super duper refreshing, especially on a summer day/night, and didn't taste too strong (which could be a bad thing ^^). Service: The waitresses are extremely nice here- always attentive to your needs and probably the happiest/smiliest ones I've seen in a while (: They came around a couple of times to double check that the soju wasn't too strong, food was tasting good, etc. Overall, such a great experience! i recently dined at Dae Bak which is promised to be an authentic korean cuisine with top-notch service. unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. upon arriving, i was greeted rudely by the host and was seated at a table that was not properly set. the server barely paid attention to us throughout the meal and did not say a single word every-time he came by, even as he sat us. he clearly did not like he job, didn't seem like he wanted to be there and rushed us to order. not sure what his name was, he was short and had glasses. looked like a square. really surprised how he got the job there as he told me he was the highest in position when i asked to talk to the manager. he was talking over me and cutting me off. i felt extremely disrespected as i was dining here. as for the food, i was disappointed to find that many of the menu items did not match their descriptions. the "fried chicken" that I ordered was soggy and wet and the kimchi fried rice was way too over-seasoned. overall, i was extremely disappointed with my visit here. this wasn't my first time going but is certainly going to be my last. the poor and rude customer service and inaccurate menu descriptions made for a miserable dining experience. i would not recommend this restaurant to others. pls dont go here. read more
