Solid spot to enjoy a hot stone meal. The wait was about 20 minutes for a Saturday lunch maybe 1 hour prior to closing. I was able to get the steak pot as they only have limited quantities per day until they run out. Overall presentation and dish was a nice set up. Little bit of everything you needed and get give extra side dishes if needed. Service was prompt. I would say the Karage was the highlight for me personally. Insanely juicy and tender.

Located in the Brown Derby plaza you can get your parking validated here. After a long day, this place was such a great warm comfort meal. The wait staff was very thoughtful in showing us how to have the best dining experience, and were very kind in explaining the menu. I ordered the spicy eggplant rice & the pork belly riced. Both were flavorful and hit the spot! I would definitely come back here again. Another plus for me was that I went a bit later on a weekend evening and there was no wait!

I came here on Valentine's Day because we spontaneously decided to go to LA and did not have any reservation. The wait was about 20 minutes which is not bad at all especially considering the occasion. I got the steak pot rice which, supposedly, they have a limited number of each day. The steak was sooo tender, and it tasted really good with the egg too. I really liked the sweet sauce in the rice as well. Before eating, they advised us to take all the toppings and all but a thin layer of rice out, then pour broth into the pot with the thin layer of rice and let it sit until we finish the stuff we took out. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the broth crispy rice because I don't like my rice wet, so I wish I didn't put the broth in. But I think it's worth trying? The banchan was really good too, especially the spicy squid (?) and salad. My boyfriend got the beef belly pot, and I thought that one was just alright. It was a little too fatty and sweet imo. I do wanna come back to try the other options like the salmon and spicy eggplant. Service and ambiance were really nice, they gave us a frozen yakult at the end, and I felt like a little kid once again.

Cute little spot in a convenient and bustling KTown strip mall. A rice bowl is really affordable and comes with a few banchan and a scorched rice soup experience. The eggplant was juicy and umami due to the pork kernels mixed in. Nothing mindblowing but very solid.

I visited Damsot with a friend to try their steak and spicy eggplant pot rice. After hearing so may good reviews, I really did need to! They do have parking and validation if needed, though there are two big parking structures nearby, so parking isn't an issue! Once you walk in, you're greeted by light brown, woody interiors, and the light only makes it ever more relaxing. The staff were attentive with getting orders in. After placing down our orders, they walked us through how to enjoy their pots. We later learned that our sauces were missing, which for steak was a HUGE game changer! For the most expensive and premier item, we really expected a little more... maybe it was a busy night, though there were no lines. The spicy eggplant pot rice was tasty and probably my preferred of the two. Something about an eggplant with chew... nothing beats it! The steak was a bit on the tougher side, cooked a little over medium. For both pot rices, I felt that the entrees were a bit weak on flavor, almost as if it was "too safe." Unfortunately, neither felt too exciting to eat. My favorite part of the meal was probably the miso soup and being humbled to really use that tea to finish off the charred rice. (I may have been rebellious and overzealous in trying to go at it raw... dog.)

The place is located in a plaza. You can park in the parking structure that is right below the plaza. Parking is about 5 bucks for 3 hours. The place was pretty full when we got there. We had to wait for 25 minutes before we got seated. I ordered the pork belly clay pot and it looked pretty good. I guess you are suppose to stir everything up and place it in the bowl they provide you. Then pour the tea into the clay pot to get all thr hard rice stuck in the clay pot. This was exactly what I did and I would say it was alright. The food itself looks pretty tasty but it was extremely bland. I was highly disappointed. The pork belly and rice literally tasted like nothing. I was also not a fan of the claypot rice with tea pour into it it did not taste pleasant. I personally would not come back to this place.

Great deal for a great lunch or dinner! For around $20 depending on which pot rice you order you get a tasty rice bowl, barley tea to make scorched rice, miso soup, a little salad, some tiny sides, and a little yogurt drink. I ordered the eggplant set which was good, but would probably want to try one of the beef ones next time. We also ordered some shrimp tempura and it was perfectly lightly panko battered and fried to perfection- crisp but tender. Service was quick and to the point, atmosphere is busy. There can be a short wait depending on what time and day you are there, so don't come to close to closing time or you may not be seated.

My friend brought me here to have some lunch because she said it was so good and I had to try it. And she was right! Once we arrived, there was parking downstairs which was validated for a portion of the time. Once we got upstairs to the restaurant we had to wait maybe five or 10 minutes while they were clearing up the table then we were seated. Once we were seated, the staff introduced the menu to us and explained how to enjoy the entrées. I ordered the beef and my friend got the salmon. It comes in a cute set with a couple appetizers and soup. And overall it was super tasty and I can't wait to come back and try a different entrée again.

Damsot in Ktown served sotbap (Korean stone pot rice) and I've been craving this for a while! The menu isn't huge, which I actually appreciate--it keeps the concept focused and not overwhelming. You're really there for the stone pot rice! The crispy rice at the bottom was perfectly browned and so satisfying to finish with the barley tea poured into the pot afterward. I ordered the beef belly bowl and especially loved the chicken karaage on the side--super flavorful and crispy. The main dish itself was delicious though I personally wouldn't wait over an hour for it again. We went on a Friday night, so that probably contributed to the long wait, but the restaurant also seemed a bit understaffed. One really sweet touch was the probiotic drink they give at the end (similar to Yakult). Overall, the meal was satisfying and worth trying--I'd just probably come back during non-peak hours next time. Oh and I'd probably try the spicy eggplant next!

Parking in Ktown is always a struggle but luckily they have a garage downstairs that you can park at. The fee is not completely waived but discounted we paid $5 for about an hour vs $20 if you didn't get it validated which I think is a good deal to not deal with the hassle of street parking. We came on a Saturday afternoon and only waited about 10 minutes! I ordered their steak pot rice and the server kindly explained to us how to enjoy our meal when they brought over the tray. The steak itself is a little tough and from how this place raved about this particular meat, I would have expected it to be more tender. Overall was still delicious but not worth how much extra you pay compared to the other dishes. Next time I would want to give their spicy eggplant or beef belly a try as recommended from other reviewers.

Damsot has been on my list for a while and it did not disappoint. I got the eggplant pot rice and my partner got the steak pot rice and we were both really happy with our orders. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and the rice at the bottom gets that crispy layer which makes the whole thing so much better. We kept stealing bites off each other's plates. The food is really the main event here and it delivers. Already thinking about going back to try the spicy eggplant version because if it's anything like what I had I know it's going to be also good. Parking is easy compared to restaurants in LA but we still had to pay 5 bucks with validation. It's situated in a small plaza with mainly other Korean restaurants.

The steak is what went viral here but what you need to come here for is the spicy eggplant and pork. I still can't stop thinking about how flavorful the sauce was and it coated the rice very well. On the other hand, the steak was on the tougher side and didn't make me wanna go back in for seconds after I sampled it. It's limited to 15 portions for lunch and 15 portions for dinner and they still had it available when we went for dinner on a Saturday night at 8:20 p.m., so maybe that was a sign. All of them had perfectly crispy, golden bottoms and each bowl was made to order. The mackerel was also good and a close second, only because the sauce was so good in the eggplant one. We also ordered the salmon sashimi as a shared appetizer, and it interestingly came with a creamy sauce in addition to soy sauce. It was packed, though, and we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated after waiting on the benches outside. It made me stressed that the waiter looked stressed and kept rushing back and forth between tables since it was so busy. I appreciated that they gave us the Korean version of Yakult at the end to end our meal.

STREET PARKING Visited on a Friday night and surprisingly had no wait. There's street parking available and plenty of restaurants around this little plaza: boiling crab, 85 degree bakery, and more.. even Hmart across the street :). Once you arrive, you can put your name on their waitlist. INSIDE & SERVICE The inside was nice and cozy, clean, and we were seated immediately. The server was also very kind in letting us get seated first even though our full party wasn't here. NOTE: Their menu states their steak rice pot is limited to 15 orders for lunch and 15 orders for dinner, but this only applies to their Korea location and not LA. They just kept it on the menu so they didn't have to reprint :-) FOOD I tried their steak rice pot for $26.99 and it was very delicious. The steak was medium rare, tender, and perfectly cubed and lightly salted. I thought some chunks were too big in which I would need to cut them, but they were pretty tender I didn't have to! The meal even came with a raw egg, side of seasoned salad, wasabi, kimchi, radish, spicy squid, miso soup, and barley tea. The rice was flavorful paired perfectly with the meat and runny egg along with all the delicious sides. They recommend scooping the rice out to your bowl to enjoy and then pouring the barley tea into the rice pot with the leftover crunchy and crispy rice on the edges and cover with the wooden lid to soften the rice and enjoy. I really enjoy barley tea so this was good and also was great to just drink the tea itself. They ended the meal with a refreshing Yakult and my tummy was happy. OVERALL Would definitely recommend stopping by and trying their steak rice pots :) and thank you Damsot for the wonderful experience!

They handed out menus and took your order when you were close to the front. Once seated inside, they welcomed you with their signature banchan dishes: the nutty boribap (보리밥), which tastes great on its own but even better with their yeolmu kimchi (radish water kimchi). There's also their tasty radish kimchi and napa kimchi. Throughout the meal, they replenished our banchan multiple times without us asking. We tried two of the new items: Galbi Kalguksu: A delicious, deep-flavored bone broth with knife-cut noodles, shredded fried egg, sliced radish, and scallions. The meat fell off the bone, and I loved the broth, though my husband thought it was a little on the saltier side. Perilla Oil Makguksu: Cold buckwheat noodles in perilla oil. Mixed with sliced shiitake mushrooms, shredded perilla leaf, gim (seaweed), sesame seeds, and scallions. It's a deliciously light refreshing dish if you don't want the heavy knife-cut noodle dishes. Last, I ordered the Non-spicy Seafood Kalguksu. It comes with a anchovy broth with a lot of seafood flavors. It's a lighter broth than the galbi but still rich in flavor. It came with clams, mussels, shrimps and 1/2 crab. There was also sliced pumpkin and zucchini. Everything tasted great. Their servers were very attentive and generous with replenishing the side dishes, and overall it was a wonderful experience. We came as a group of 9 and thankfully, they allow for reservations if you are a group of 8 or bigger. Take note! Especially in this LA peak heat. You will need to order before you are seated and you cannot order anymore food once you are seated, given how popular they are, this makes plenty sense. We were seated inside with cooling AC and the restaurant is quite large inside! It could certainly have several parties in there. Soon, our galbi kalguksu, XL chicken kalguksu, tteokbeokki and XL pork jowl and pork belly bossam showed up. Everything was extra delicious and fresh. The soups in both the galbi and chicken kalguksus were amazing and the hand pulled noodles were divine. We drank and ate everything up quickly. The tteokbeokki was delicious, but too spicy so the rest of the party was able to enjoy it. The bossam was all so tender and had just enough napa and garlic to go with it along with the many unique sauces we could dip all the meats in. Everyone left feeling happy and it satisfied everyone's palates.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
