I finally tried J Korean Restaurant last week and I liked it so much that I've been twice in one week! Jinjja masisseo! J Korean has a non-valet, free parking lot which is nice but it shares the lot with our businesses so can fill up on weekends & busy days. The restaurant itself is cute with old school vibes, but modern customer service. They have various sets starting at $30 and then a $40 and $50 tier if you add more premium meats. I like the $30 tier and have gotten that on both my visits with it being an abundance of food for me. You do not get refills of the banchan on the lowest $30 tier, so that's a bummer if you find a dish you love but it's so darn much food! No need for any refills, in my opinion. Every dish was amazing to me but standouts were the bone-in fish, the bulgogi, two different eggplant dishes, quail eggs, soup ~ honestly everything was so good that it's hard to pick what is best. The staff is attentive and helpful, however the second time I went with new friends and they didn't explain any of the dishes. We know Korean food so knew most of them, but it still would be nice to explain the different types of rice & just a quick explanation of other more unique banchans. The first time I went, they did this in depth and it was very helpful. Staff did pack up the leftover meat for us both times which I was so thankful for! This is truly my new favorite restaurant and I've fallen in love with it! If you love a bunch of tiny dishes and trying a ton of different items, you'll love it, as well. This is a traditional Korean restaurant that serves a full Korean set menu, similar to Ondam in Las Vegas. What's interesting is the way they serve everything--they bring out the entire top portion of the table already filled with the main dishes and side dishes, instead of placing each dish on the table one by one. It's a fun presentation, especially if you haven't experienced this style of Korean dining before. The restaurant is fairly spacious, but there seemed to be a limited number of servers. Service was okay overall, although we sometimes had to wait quite a while when we needed to ask for something. Food-wise, I thought it was just so-so. You definitely get a large variety of side dishes, which makes the table look impressive, but none of them really stood out to me as particularly special or memorable. Came to check out this spot with some friends and wasn't disappointed. It's a little hidden and parking is a little tight at this spot, but they have valet ($5). If you get lost, it's right across the street from the bar. The set menu is charged by person. We got the more expensive one and left with our tummy's super full and we couldn't finish it, but it was so amazingly delicious. The staff is super attentive and the food very authentic. I visited Jeongsikdang for my parents' wedding anniversary, and while the meal was impressive in its variety and abundance--with countless dishes served one after another--the overall quality of the food felt fairly average considering the quantity. The flavors lacked depth, and the cooking didn't fully capture the richness and authenticity I would expect from traditional Korean cuisine. Borittgogae, which is operated by the same owner, offered a more flavorful and satisfying dining experience in comparison. Yesterday (6/6/2026, Saturday) was my parents' wedding anniversary. To celebrate, our whole family got together and had a family breakfast, family lunch, and family dinner. For dinner, we went to J Korean Restaurant. It was my mom's third visit, and it was the first time for the rest of the family. We had heard that this restaurant serves an incredible number of side dishes, and we were curious to try it. We also thought it would be a great place for a special occasion, so we decided to celebrate there together. They offer meal options priced at $29.99, $39.99, and $49.99 per person. My mom had already tried all of them and recommended the $29.99 option, so that's what we chose. I was amazed by how many side dishes they brought out, and I was even more surprised that every single one of them was delicious. Along with all those side dishes, they served rice in three different colors--white, yellow, and black. It was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds, and we were extremely satisfied. The service was exceptionally friendly, which made the experience even better. We had made a reservation in advance, so our family was able to enjoy our meal together in a private room, which was really nice. I had heard that this restaurant was famous for having a huge variety of side dishes and that they were all delicious, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. J Korean Restaurant left me speechless. Seriously, we were served too many dishes to count. I'm not complaining! Our party of four recently visited for lunch and were treated to an absolute feast. While some dishes were definitely better than others, we felt like the variety and generous portions were what made this restaurant truly special and well worth the reasonable price tag. A friend had told me about J Korean Restaurant and I finally gathered a group of friends to come and try it out for lunch. They were very accommodating when our reservation for 18 at noon turned into 12 people at 1PM. The restaurant was not too full to be honest, nor is it that big, but it is beautifully adorned inside. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, with a lot of attention to detail. The food is a set $50/person, with options to upgrade to higher amounts to gain additional items, though the standard $50 already included a massive amount of food. We were stuffed with leftovers by the end of the three courses. I found the sliding wooden table ingenious and the variety of dishes was phenomenal. They served us smaller portions of banchan to accompany the second course of rice and soup, but offered to serve more (we were too full for the refills). They also proactively refilled seaweed with the first course, and explained the dishes that were so carefully laid out and presented. The dessert course was frozen persimmon, dried stuffed jujube, and rice punch, a very refreshing end to an extremely satisfying meal. The menu seems like it can vary slightly with the season, and I would highly recommend J Korean Restaurant for a truly unique dining experience! P.S. It's our first time here as recommended by my daughter's friend. Not knowing what to expect. Didn't know this type of unique Korean food experience. Not the typical Korean food like BBQ, Bulgogi, Soon Tofu near most residential areas like Glendale are San Gabriel area. Each dish is unique. My wife loves Borit Gogae so when she found out this restaurant is under the same umbrella she wanted to come check it out. I would say Borit Gogae is vegetable focused and J Korean has more meat options. However, both are great. I think I still prefer Borit Gogae a bit more but this place is great as well. Tbh idk even know what half the stuff was but it still got ate! I loved the variety in the $50 menu option. There was plenty of unique dishes ranging from light and plain flavors to exciting complex dishes. My girlfriend and I came in for Dinner of a Saturday around 7pm and were quickly sat and helped with the menu options. We were very heart eyes as we saw other table tops being rolled out. While the dining experience was certainly unique I did find only maybe half of the dishes to be truly amazing. My favorites included their beefy stew, cold noodle, kimchi plates, chives salad, and green meaty wrapped bites. I loved the range of all the flavors on the table, each being unique and memorable. Not sure if I'd return but certainly loved the exposure to new plates and had a great experience trying new Korean dishes! read more

we got the new set menu that was i think 29.99 per person and then added the galbi jjim dish separately. it made sense to do that than spend 59.99 each per person. the food was good but not amazing? nothing really stood out. we did like the random shrimp tempura - that was not like Japanese style but still great. eat this when it's hot. at first i thought it was gonna be kabocha squash. galbijjim was pretty good for my taste bc it wasn't overly sweet like other places. i don't really like the americanized flavors in certain restaurant so this was great. not too sweet or salty. very home-cooked style! there were some odd dishes like cucumbers with some barely seasoned yoplait yogurt dressing lol their take on gyejang (raw marinated crab) was a bit too lemon-y and fusion-y. i would have liked this better if it was more traditional. we also loved the duduk - it was charred to perfection and the flavors were great. please also eat this while it's warm! best when warm bulgogi was alright - not that great with the seasoning and the meat quality was ok. it really wows you in presentation but i'm not sure that i will crave this and come back. i will say though it's fun as a group meal experience. service was attentive and great! read more

This is a place you want to take to impress your friends. They will literally roll out an entire table of food. You get a little bit of everything from traditional Korean to some new fun dishes. The server is really nice and all of the decoration is very reminiscent of a Korean traditional museum. Hanjeongsik is a formal and traditional Korean meal, and this restaurant delivers it beautifully. It is colorful, elaborate, and seemingly endless, filling every inch of the table and then some. When we dined here, it was a prix-fixe menu, charged per guest. The entire spread arrived on a large wooden board that slid over the table, just like how I experienced it in Korea. The variety was impressive, with countless side dishes and standout mains such as braised short ribs (Galbi Jjim), deep-fried white fish, and Hamburg steak. Even the water was unique--a refreshing herbal tea blend. After the main courses, they served dessert: frozen persimmon, traditional Korean snacks, and a sweet rice punch. It was the perfect way to close an already memorable meal, and we left full and satisfied. The space itself is warm and inviting, with beautiful artwork on the walls. For special occasions, you can even reserve a private room by calling ahead. One thing that stood out to me, however, was that the dining room wasn't very full. It made me think the restaurant could benefit from rebranding. The current name doesn't quite capture the elegance and authenticity of the experience. The taste of the dishes only met 1% of its presentation, bringing my hopes up and shattering them as soon as I took that first bite. I would normally not be this harsh on a restaurant, but for its high price, I cannot help but give it a critical and fair review. Every dish was decent, but nothing seemed to stand out. There was never a moment where I felt that it was worth it for me to come here. The mile wide and inch deep assortment of food is also not aligned with my particular style of eating and I found it hard for me to enjoy my meal without having my flow immediately interrupted. The service was kind and fast, however, I have a complaint. My party was seated by the dresser in the back and we requested to switch tables since servers were retrieving items from the dresser and causing us to move around to let the dresser be accessible. The server explained that they would only need to do this once, but they ended up retrieving items time and time again, creating a disruptive environment for all of us. There were many other tables available so I do not understand why they wouldn't just let us move. The interior has very ornate Korean ivory and furniture which is appealing to look at, however, it further reinforces to me that J Korean Restaurant is about the aesthetics rather than the substance. Came here to try the $50/pp traditional Korean meal. Presentation is impressive and massive. They literally slide a tabletop filled with food on your table since it would take so long to move plates and dishes over. I thought that was pretty ingenious. They have two rounds of food, first set up is appetizers and meat, second set is with rice and soup to finish the meal. Service was prompt and efficient. I didn't think the price was too bad considering how much food you get. My only issue is that every dish was OK but nothing was amazing. I think it's great if you're new to Korean food and want to try a variety of items, but otherwise, I'm not sure it was enticing enough for us to go back. Nothing was too memorable, I guess. The restaurant is under same ownership as Boritgogae, which we really like, so our expectation might have been a little too high. Lastly, I thought the decor could be nicer, maybe add a little more character and make it cozier or traditional. Just something to make it a little different since right now there is no ambience at all. Recommend trying once for the experience. Definitely different from any other K restaurant in LA. read more

Came here with a group of 4 and we weren't asked if what we were going to order. Not sure if there's a set 'menu' that everyone gets, but our waitress also didn't get us any water until 20 minutes in :( She seemed really busy, but just didn't check in with our table. We just got seated immediately and it took around 25 minutes for the first set to come out. The sets look like an insane amount of food, but most of them are just small eats and bites. Some of the dishes are definitely on the adventurous side. I consider my palette to be very adventurous already, as I love things like chicken feet, raw marinated crab, duck tongue, etc. However, I think some of the dishes here were too adventurous even for me. We had some raw seafood that we had no clue what it was, and it just tasted like straight ocean and mush. Outside of the interesting side dishes, I think the main courses of pork, beef, and cooked fish were really good. We just got the $59/person set course, but they said in a few weeks they would bring down the cost a little bit more. I love that they have the raw marinated crab. The galbi Jim was so tender, my kid who normally doesn't like the texture of beef ate it. Would I come again? While I ate it, I thought I would. But after eating it, I'm not sure. It is around fifty dollars a person and you get about forty different items to try, which makes the meal feel fun and generous. The appetizers stood out right away. The noodles were amazing and the pumpkin soup was comforting and full of flavor. The bigger sides like the Galbi Jim were also great and so tender. There are a lot of fish dishes here. It was such a precious experience. I had never eaten so many delicious, homemade Korean dishes all at once before. The meal began with the table completely covered with plates, which made me feel so excited. Then, when the rice was served, I thought it would just come with soup, but to my surprise, it was accompanied by seaweed and about eight different side dishes. There was so much food that I couldn't finish it all -- I even had enough left for lunch the next day. On top of that, after the meal, they served sikhye and dessert, leaving me completely satisfied. This place is SO SO SO GOOD. The set menu at J Korean Restaurant is amazing. Everything is fresh, everything is delicious. The Set Menu A starts with a full table on onto the table of dishes - it was FULL y'all. And then THEY BRING OUT A SECOND ROUND of more dishes. AND THEN when they bring the check with persimmons, jujubes, and some rice punch! It was the epitome of generosity and hospitality, and it was a meal that left me feeling full and satisfied but not heavy. There was a little bit if everything - the simmered beef was fall off the bone tender, the pork belly was crispy, the fish was perfectly grilled, the marinated raw crab was unctuous, the fried shrimp were perfect, and the 20+(!!!) other dishes were also well balanced. It was a sensory feast too, there was a balance of veggies, proteins, and cooking methods (stewed, fried, grilled, pickled, cold, hot etc) and I got to discover new korean dishes I had never tried before (so yummy!). The limited English on the menu gave a little 'Korean food for a Korean crowd' BUT that didn't change the hospitality and ordering the set menu is easy enough . if someone wanted to try korean food for the first time, this is probably what i'd recommend as it represents a wide sample of the diversity of korean food. there must have been around 30-40 small dishes/banchan and main dishes containing protein from beef and pork to seafood to try. they bring the first round of food out on a large rolling table that slides over the dining table providing a theatric entrance for your dishes. the food is soothing and soulful. a second wave comes with rice and soup with an additional 7 or so banchan. then finally, the course meal ends with some candied korean fruit and crackers. when I first went, there wasn't a menu available yet as they only had one available menu, set A, which was $50 pp. the second time i went, they added on a B and C set with more premium menu options such beef head, abalone, galbi, and marinated crab options. you probably would not feel any absence of options with set menu A, but if you like the particular dishes they provide in menu B or C, you most likely will not be disappointed given the caliber and quality of food here. definitely left feeling full, but in a clean food kinda way, similar to how i feel after a sushi meal. however, i wasn't hungry a few hours later. met the owner/chef lady here who is responsible for borit gogae, another one of my home-y korean restaurants in the area, and also a part of the same restaurant group. it's a labor of love since there's so much work that goes into providing the table setting that J provides. given the quality, abundance, and variety of food, the $50 entry menu is a bargain. service is efficient and polite. if you're not familiar with korean food, they'll point and explain what's what to your dining party. the restaurant setting is calming and home-y itself. i'll definitely be back when i'm craving clean and homecooked caliber korean food with so many options. this is a unique korean food experience in koreatown. try for yourself. read more
