One of the best fish tacos I have tried in Alaska!! Fish was fresh and fried perfectly, good balance of crispy vegetables and finely blended spicy sauce, it was phenomenal, a MUST STOP when visiting Juneau! They also serve wine and beer, and it's outdoors seating but have covered area to keep you dry on rainy days. Will definitely visit again if we ever make it back to Juneau! read more

Delicious!! The blackened rockfish was just the right spicy. So fresh and tasty. The owner Dave was a cook on a commercial fishing vessel, so he knows good fish. Yelp lead us here and it did not disappoint! This place is excellent. We had the blackened rockfish tacos, the salmon tenders and the salmon tots. Everything was delicious, the salmon tots are a must try but they are spicy so if you don't like a little kick you might want to skip those! I ordered the sampler of 3 fish tacos, Blackened Rockfish, Grilled Salmon, and Beer Battered Halibut. (I think that's right...). All three were awesome! The Blackened Rockfish had a great smokey flavor and the Beer Battered Halibut was perfectly fried with a crispy outer layer and soft juicy Halibut inside. That one, while fried, didn't taste fried at all, but just tasted like a perfectly delicious tender crispy fish. In my opinion, that's how it should be! As read from his website, there are "Three Baja-style fish tacos served on a corn tortillas with cabbage slaw. your choice of fish topped with a lime-chipotle aioli and garnished with fresh cilantro" I'm not a big fan of aioli, but Dave's lime-chipotle aioli was perfect for these tacos. What's weird, but kind of nice for people who want to avoid huge crowds of cruise ship folk, is that his taco stand is right next to all the cruise ships yet only a handful of people were there... Don't let the food truck in the parking lot fool you, Dave serves up some seriously fresh fish tacos! Particularly when compared to all the tourist traps in the area. read more

Traveling thru Juneau and stayed a couple days. Passed up Deckhand Dave's the first day because it was tacos from a food truck. Second day we decided to give it a try and the tacos were excellent. We each had the sampler and all the fish was good. I highly recommend eating there if you have the opportunity. read more

We couldnt' find this place at first but I guess we weren't looking hard enough, we actually almost gave up --there is a small sign on the street front saying that Deckhand Dave's is behind a set of other food stands/ trucks. We are SO glad we didn't give up! This place had the most amazing fish tacos. We are big foodies and being in the food industry, we have high expectations for good food... sometimes too high. This place did not disappoint. We ordered the trio of tacos and every single one blew us away with its bold and fresh flavors. Wish we could have had all of our meals here! (PS you need to try the hot sauce that is sitting at the tables-- we ordered some online right when we got home after trying to buy them off of Dave with no luck :)) read more

The food at Dave's is amazing! I love that they use local seafood. The service is always helpful and friendly. When my friend was visiting, they were out of salmon for her taco sampler -- but they got some more in & went above and beyond to prepare it freshly. Great halibut tacos, but expect to wait a bit during cruise season. But if I'm ever back in Juneau, I'll definitely make another visit.

Deckhand Dave's was a highlight of my trip to Juneau! Came across it on my first night in town and enjoyed the taco sampler with an Alaskan summer - it was later in the evening and a great quiet place to have dinner. The food was exceptional, and I wanted to bring a friend back later in the week in a short window of time between our ferry arrival and my flight to Anchorage. I called to place a takeout order, and Dave went out of his way to help - even though it was a much deserved day off - and even followed up to make sure that everything went well. I made it to the airport with minutes to spare, and a container of tacos that were the envy of TSA and fellow passengers. Excellent food and friendly customer service that went above and beyond - definitely check out Dave's if you are in Juneau! read more

Just another typical Juneau fish taco place. For someone that is from out of town it's great. But for someone that lives in Juneau year round it taste the same. It feels like they took the style from two different restaurants in town and combined them into one taco. They have the same beer every place here does. I would say the best part about this place is the view and the French fries. read more

Don't be deterred if it's raining! This food truck has covered seating and despite its location next to the water, it was dry and not windy inside. Best fish tacos I've ever had! Rockfish was spicy. If you like black-pepper kind of spicy then go for this one. Salmon was my favorite and halibut was yummy too. I got the spicy crema which wasn't too spicy- but tasted great on all three! Glad we ran into this food stand looking for just a beer, because we came back the next day to try the food. The fish tacos are awesome, we tried the combo, so that we could try all three fish. My favorite was the salmon. Service was friendly and Dave gave my 2 year old son a blue rock, which he kept by his side for the rest of our trip, and still have now at home. The rock became his best pal for a while, we named it blue. My son actually started saying the word blue because of this rock. Check this place out, worth it. read more
