Great local Noe Valley cafe. The owners are so kind and welcoming and it's clear how hard they work to keep this place doing well. Mission Omelette has homemade bean chili avocado cheese and egg mixed with delicious harmony. Usually I dislike sour cream, but on top it's a nice flavor harmony. The side salad is simple, refreshing, and chopped (delicious!). Trying to avoid potatoes for my wasteline but the side potatoes are simple and delicious as well. The salmon scrambler is another go-to. Chunky and delicious. I don't know how they do it but the mixture is a wonderful consistency and I'm always sad at my last bite. Diamond Cafe uses the exact same menu as many other crepe places in California, and while my Hawaiian crepe was tasty, it was significantly smaller and more expensive that other identical crepes I'd had before. Being from San Diego I have high standards when it comes to Mexican food so maybe that's why. This great neighborhood café has been transformed by the new owners who are super friendly and working very hard to provide excellent service and delicious food. I've been in a few times and tried the Marinara crepe and the mexican salad. Both came quickly, and were abundant, fresh and delicious! The café got a fresh paint job, and some of the counter/display cases removed so there's a lot more space in there as well. The owners said they should have chairs/tables outside again very soon-- after the permit from the City is ok'd-- and it'll be lovely to sit outside. Congrats to the new owners and I'm looking forward to many more meals there! read more

Had breakfast here. It was good but I was expecting more from 4.5 star average reviews. I had a coffee drink and a breakfast croissant with potatoes. The potatoes were well done and a bit on the dry side. It was small inside but not crowded because there are signs saying no wife and not to use laptops or stay more than an hour. I can see why they'd say that but it felt unwelcoming and I didn't have a laptop and was just making a pit stop to refuel. read more

Just visited Diamond Cafe. I'm so happy to have them in Noe Valley. Mike was one of our favorite server/bar guy/managers at S&G in The Castro. Now he's on his own and he's done a great job. I have the tuna salad sandwich with salad. I know - not the toughest dish to prepare but, it was good! Fresh bresh and ripe tomatoes. The tuna was just chunky enough' not runny. And the salad was a very good sized portion with a nice not-over-powering vinaigrette. My dining companion had the chicken breast sandwich which he said was extremely tasty; so much so that he wouldn't share with me. Hmph! I hope Mike does well with his "Diamond Cafe". P.S. The counterman was pleasant and efficient, and the cafe had a small, neighborhood feel: a mother with young child in tow, a table of seniors having an animated discussion. The food was fresh but bland--my oatmeal was watery, and my scrambled eggs entirely without seasoning. The fruit was the best part. Some of the dishes were chipped or cracked, and I'm glad I managed not to spill anything on my interview blouse! I felt more than welcome to sit and read my newspaper until it was time to go.
