My friend has been talking about this place so I decided to check it out myself. I wanted to get the mushroom burger but that is temporarily off the menu, so I decided to try the Goats and Greens salad. I almost never order salads as my entree but this one sounded really good so I decided to try it. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! This was the best salad I've had in my entire life! The mix of greens and fruit with the goat cheese on top was just perfect. It's been over a week and I haven't stopped thinking about this salad ! When we arrived there was no one else there and they were working a one man show, with a simple sand which board menu, of about 8 items. I was nervous but we were hungry and they had gluten free buns! (I am wheat intolerant) Due to the vibe I kept my expectations low, but was surprised to see when they brought me a plate with a beautiful bun and even better looking salad. The burger was amazing! My manager had originally recommended this place to me and after our first dinner there, we became HOOKED. Their ambience is very nice! Felt like a mixture of being in a warm cabin with old-school cafe decorations and Mammoth adventure-related art and furniture. The food was a whole other level. Even now after having gone there two days in a row with my wife, I am drooling just thinking about their food and wishing for more. For lunch, we had a great butter chicken and beautifully crafted AND delicious goat and greens salad (plentiful with greens and fruits alike - and SO aesthetically pleasing). The portions for each item on the menu are fantastic and you will not be leaving still hungry. The next day, we came back for dinner and decided to get the Pork Belly Bites appetizer and the Cod and Mashed Potatoes (comes with delicious side salad too). Let me tell you, these two items had to be some of the best food I've eaten - like ever. Those belly bites were so finger-licking good! Each time we went, the service was top-notch and the cooking staff including the head chef were always willing to come greet the customers and ask how things were. They are all so kind and you can tell how much passion they have for their excellently plated, seasoned and cooked foods. The head chef even personally asked us if we'd like the cod and potatoes to be split into two plates for us and the waitress even gave us some free bread to go with it. The cod and potatos were so delicious by the way! They melted right in your mouth with so much flavor. We decided to end with a chocolate mousse dessert which was also quite delicious and we got to catch a beautiful Mammoth sunset! There's no experience quite like eating here! I just can say one of my best memory in Mammoth lake was going to this place. The owner was really kind and the place was so cozy. Me and my husband had the same birthday and she let us to have a small memorable birthday celebration in her place. This place does it right. From the fresh ingredients cooked perfectly to the amazingly friendly staff. This place is a necessary stop for me when I am on the east side of the sierras. Favorites are the Mac and Cheese, and the Bison Burger, but the bonus is that the owner, Tina, makes amazing seasonal specials and treats like today, when she brought out lemon curd after our meal!!! Lift chair idea is esthetically appealing, but incredibly uncomfortable, terrible idea. And fur or fake fur seats are incredibly unsanitary by the way. Cod was fantastic, little too much butter on the potatoes, but the flavor still hit the mark. Caesar was great, pretty generic though. Side salad was incredible, super fresh and flavorful. Menu didn't seem to change at all the two weeks I was there. I wanted more options to be able to keep coming back. More seafood or a pork dish would have been nice. The restaurant itself is small and cozy and just such a great vibe. The menu has everything I like from salads, falafel, burgers, lamb, etc. My salad was really outstanding! Dish Bistro is one of the best new restaurants in Mammoth Lakes. The owner Tina is extremely friendly and offers a really great albeit small menu with great choices including vegan friendly items. The other day Tina served Thanksgiving dinners for the town and after requesting a vegan alternative she obliged by creating a delicious vegan stuffed squash, brussels sprouts and side salad with very fresh fruit. Note: She cooks all vegan items on separate kitchen equipment, thank you! All her ingredients are fresh, local and cooked perfectly.
