Having worked in the service industry myself for six years, I understand that delays can happen, especially during busy shifts. However, what made the experience disappointing was the lack of communication and attentiveness from the wait staff. There was no acknowledgment of the extended wait, no update on the order, and no apology once the food arrived. We did not have an issue with the upfront service charges, and my husband was very patient throughout the experience. We simply hoped for a bit more courtesy and professionalism. If you're looking for a new go-to spot with great vibes, amazing food, and reasonably priced drinks, Dodobird is it! This bar and restaurant delivers on all fronts. The atmosphere is inviting, with a perfect balance of trendy and cozy. The staff is friendly and attentive, our server Talia was really great and made sure we had a nice experience. I started off with "The Bloom" which is a crispy onion and it comes with their fancy sauce which was delicious, their ranch is also pretty amazing! Then for drinks I got their sprite and my mom got their Margarita blended and think it was either strawberry or watermelon flavor. My mom also got their Nonna's Ball for a small bite. It is a Waygu Meatball with hot ricotta whip basil, Grandma Pomodoro, with Garlic Bread. I tried this and this was actually pretty darn good! My son got their wings buffalo flavored with a side of fries and he loved it! Could be a little more crispy for my liking but my son was perfectly fine with it haha. The drinks were good. The ambience amazing and the decor phenomenal. HOWEVER. The service was slow. Like really slow, even to get a drink. We went to try their tomahawk for the Tuesday special. We ordered medium rare. Even though it was busy, it still felt like it took forever. When it arrived, it was rare. Which is normally not a big deal. However, once we go to the center, it was raw. Not a little under rare raw, but unable to chew and still cold raw. The broccolini was great. The fries had good flavor, but were soggy, not from being old, but from too much oil. They probably deserved closer to a 2.7, however 'm a believer that one bad night shouldn't define you. I will be back to try their oysters, but that is only because of the vibe. read more

Classic Mac for $7 was tasty but could use a thicker sauce. Crispy Tuna for $9 was delicious. Simply Green salad was at regular price for $8. Fresh ingredients but had the most sour vinaigrette I've ever had. WAY too much lemon, and I like lemon! If I went again I'd ask for a different dressing. They also have good nightly deals almost every day of the week. Steak Out Mondays will probably get us there again. $99 for a 32oz Tomahawk plus 2 salads, 2 sides, and a dessert. We went on a Wednesday for Wing Wednesday. Thai Chili was awesome. Buffalo was solid. They get a star deducted because of the deception over the charge for Ranch. I'll include a photo. 50 cent wings, minimum order 6. Cool right? Well they charge $2 per Ranch. And nowhere on the menu does it say that is the case. I was so excited to try this place but honestly at the end of the day - The service could definitely use some improvement, and while nothing was outright bad, the food didn't live up to the hype--or the prices. For what you're paying, you'd expect something more memorable. Overall, it was underwhelming. I think it was the combination of small things being average or below.... I saw this place on TikTok and was super excited try it! I placed reservations and arrived 5 minutes early. I will start this review off with a question - What does it feel like when you're being seated in a nice restaurant and they pass all the empty tables and sit you in the back by the bathroom? It didn't feel good for me. Okay, now for my review - When the server did arrive 10 minutes after being seated, menus were tossed on the table and we were asked if we would like something to drink. I ordered an ice tea (the only one I would get all night) and my wife ordered a mock-tail. Before walking off, to speed things up, I advised my waitress we were there for the Tomahawk special. She sounded a bit irritated when she advised me it would be around a 45 minute wait, which I responded that's fine and ordered the short rib dumplings while we waited. Another 10 minutes and our drinks arrived. The tea was regular and my wife liked her mock-tail. The dumplings arrived another 20 minutes after that. The flavor of the sauce was a bit sour but okay. The meat inside of the dumplings came apart from the dumpling and was just mush. They tasted similar to Trader Joes dumplings. They were good but not worth it for the price. Finally the star of the show - The Tomahawk! When it arrived I was shocked that there was so much fat balled up in the corner. There were slices that were a mix of meat and ones with a lot of fat. Hidden, bunched up by the bone, were big chunks of overcooked steak. I wouldn't have even noticed it was there if my wife hadn't had moved the bone. The fat on the corner was absolutely inedible and gross and I love the fat when it's cooked right. (see pic) As someone who orders a 16oz steak for myself. This was not 32oz worth of edible steak. It was about 16oz of decent meat. The fries were hard and tough. The broccolini was awesome. We waited another 20 minutes on the dessert. Our check and the cake came at the same time. All of our other food was all boxed up. I almost thought they were going to forget it. Then when it came out, the cake itself was burnt hard on the top and it was uncooked in the middle. (see pic) We were never once asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks, and the traffic by the bathroom was irritating and took away from the experience. Everything took forever. From the drinks to the food to the check. I will say whoever the DJ is, they played some good jams. The atmosphere is beautiful. The service and food is not worth the price. The restaurant's decor was also beautifully designed, and they have a huge bar with plenty of seating. I've been to The Dodo Bird three times now, including their grand opening night, where I had the chance to try two different cocktails and sample almost everything on the menu. The food and drinks were fantastic! My favorite so far is their smash burger--it's simple but packed with flavor. Their mac and cheese is also a standout, and they recently switched to a locally made pasta, which I love. In fact, they seem to incorporate local ingredients whenever possible. I noticed this when I asked about their iced tea and found out it was from a local brand as well. The bar is spacious, offering a wide selection of cocktails, and the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. We came across Dodo Bird while looking for somewhere new to eat, and the food looked amazing online. I'm glad we decided to try it because the food itself was delicious. When we first arrived around 1:50 PM, we were told the kitchen was about to close at 2 PM for an hour while they switched from the brunch menu to the lunch/dinner menu. Unfortunately, this wasn't listed anywhere on their Google hours or online. If we had known, we would have planned our visit differently. It was a bit disappointing since we had come specifically to try the restaurant, but we found something to do and came back after the hour. When we returned, we ordered the wagyu burgers, which were fantastic and definitely lived up to the hype. I was debating whether to order a drink when our waitress, Ella, mentioned their "adult happy meal," which includes an alcoholic drink. I asked what drink options were available, and she began listing several, including an espresso martini, which sounded great. She then asked if I wanted Bailey's in it, and I said yes. At no point during the ordering process was any additional charge mentioned. When the bill came, we noticed there was an extra $10 added to the drink, $5 for the espresso martini and $5 for the Bailey's. If certain drink options come with an upcharge, that should really be communicated when ordering so guests can make an informed decision. It's only $10 but it's the principal. The drink was presented as part of the meal, so the extra charges felt misleading. Overall, the food was very good (especially the wagyu burgers) and the concept of the restaurant is fun. However, clearer communication about their kitchen hours and drink upcharges would have made the experience much better. Because of how misleading the situation felt, it unfortunately left a negative impression, and I can't honestly recommend the restaurant. read more

We stumbled upon an instagram reel promoting dodo birds happy hour on Thursdays so we HAD to check out the $1 oysters. When we first got to the restaurant, it was only about ~40% full (as pictured) so we would be able to get pretty decent service sitting at a table instead of having to sit up at the bar. The hostess took us to the table, and we scanned over the menu and were pleasantly surprised to see the many specials and deals they have going on throughout the week. We had ample time to pick out what we wanted to eat, but started wondering who our server was. After 20 minutes of waiting, our server still had not come to our table to introduce themselves, offer water, or take our order. A bit frustrated, we went up to the hostess at the front and asked if it would be okay if we moved to the bar instead as we had still not been served. We were able to get our drink order in within the next 5 minutes, but the start of the evening left us a bit disappointed. We did enjoy the drinks and found out from our bartender that the 'Espresso Not Expresso' and the regular espresso martini are the same drink, priced at $9 and $10 ($15 regular price), respectively. We were quite pleased with the mac and cheese, and hey, for ONE dollar for any oyster, it's a deal. It's not the world's greatest oyster, but if you're on a budget and are craving oysters, this is the best deal I've seen. Cons: ordered the Brussels spouts and left out a key ingredient, smells like a sewer at times. It was a Thai food spot before. I'm not sure how you rid that but it's apparent throughout. At least when we were there and running the dishwasher and then walking to the bathroom. I went to the bathroom (the only one I saw that was shared) and at the start of a shift had zero towels to dry your hands. I did notify the bartending staff. But honestly there were 3 people behind the bar the whole time who were chatting and didn't deliver drinks ordered as I saw the drinks sit there for a while, while our waitress was busy. It wasn't that busy, but any new spot has pain points. And also, not the bartenders job maybe, just pointing out observations.
