I've been to Dog Haus twice now. The first time, I ate a few bites of my hot dog (the soo Cali, with avocado, tomato, and a spicy sauce) before I had to throw out the bun. The hot dog itself was tasty, and it had good quality toppings, but the bun was mushy from the wet toppings and also just had an odd flavour. I'm not crazy about sweet bread, but maybe someone else would be. I wasn't excited about going back, but I went again at the request of a friend. This time I tried a cheeseburger. Again, the meat was tasty, but I almost immediately I had to scrape the bun off the burger because it was mushy from drippings. And the bun was sweet. I'm just not interested in a sweet bun, which is the only option here. It was really busy both times I went - no place to sit when I first ordered, but by the time my food was ready there was one spot for us to sit down. We cleaned up the table ourselves, both before and after we ate. I enjoyed watching them cooking in the open kitchen. Nice relaxed atmosphere, good music volume (not too loud to have a conversation). To sum up: decent ingredients (as reflected in the prices - this is not cheap junk food), but they use sweet bread (King's Hawaiian) for their buns which I just plain don't like in this context. If you don't mind your burger or your hotdog tasting sweet, then you might enjoy DogHaus. read more

We ordered the Old Town Dog, Das Brat, and chili cheese fries. Really good and good proportions. All the buns they use for their hot dogs are Kings Hawaiian rolls and are surprisingly a perfect combo. They have delicious hamburgers too and they look pretty huge. The atmosphere is similar to a Five Guys on the inside, very minimal and wooden benches. Go for the food and a quick beer with friends. I had the "pig lebowski" it had fried and coleslaw on it. Along side with some tater tots and a soda to make it a combo meal it was all very filling. I enjoyed it but I need to come back to make sure it's not a 5 star location. The menu optima are extensive but I have confidence they make all items well. The sausage I had was defiantly quality and cooked perfectly. Parking wasn't an issue, I ran in during lunch before a nearby meeting. Plenty of street parking on the nearby streets, the food was served in a reasonable and polite manner. I like that there are lots of free condiments and some add ons that you can pay for. I got a beef hotdog with mushrooms, onions, garlic aioli, and white American cheese. They offer spicy and dijon mustard, ketchup, relish, and more on the sides! Definitely will go again. I ordered the Grand Slam and the Bourbon Andouille Sausage. The Grand Slam is the breakfast dog with tater tots and bacon, and fried egg. I ate it with no sauce which was good, but always can use some hot sauce. The hawaiian bun was yummy and soft! My only complaint was, the bacon was too crispy almost burnt or too fried and crunchy. 3 out of 5 Grand Slam The Bourbon Andouille Sausage with Sweet Peppers and Sweet Onions. The Sausage was good had a nice kick of spices. The dog came on a French Roll. For my taste the French Roll stood out and ruined the dog for me. There was way to much bread, to crunchy, and didn't go well with the dog. Simply just get rid of the French Roll idea. 2 out of 5 because of the French Roll. read more

This was the first time I have tried a restaurant based upon finding it on Yelp. It is also a review based upon my first visit and is subject to change as I will definitely return. This is pretty great food! If you love a good hot dog (or variation of) then Dog Haus will certainly intrigue you as their menu has some very interestingly named dogs with condiment choices most people would not have thought of but work out greatly. I had the special known as "The Fonz" which was a spicy Italian sausage with pastrami and cheese on a toasted french roll. Mmmmm....tasty! I added a side order of onion rings with chili and cheese and I am kicking myself for never thinking of that combination earlier! They were awesome!!! It's a Saturday afternoon and my boyfriend was craving hot dogs. We didn't feel like driving to Pink's in LA and then I remembered about Dog Haus from Yelp so I suggested we try it. I tried the BLAST and my bf got a regular hot dog wrapped in bacon with a bit of mayo (his usual). I was surprised by the size of their hot dog. It was HUGE! I took a bite and it was juicy and warm. Soooo yummy. It didn't require a drive to LA and i didn't have to wait over half an hour. The tables were kept pretty clean and parking was easy too. Nom nom nom! I've been addicted to Hawaiian Sweet Bread since I was a baby. Never would I have dreamed to use it as a bun, it seemed sinful. But it was Oh so heavenly. A fried egg on a dog turned my world around. And a few slices of Serrano chilies left the burning reminder of goodness on my lips all day long! They also have sausages. Pink's can't even compare. I feel like I'm late to the game...but I suppose better late than never to try this place out. Went on Wednesday at 1pm and the place was packed! A combination of working folks and college kids (I assume from PCC down the street) so street parking was a bit full and not many places to sit. Luckily we were able to squeeze out a couple of guys who were sitting at an outside table although I'm sure they weren't happy about it. Got the Downtown dog (bacon wrapped with peppers) which was served on a hawaiian roll which I thought really made it stand out. The bacon was little overdone though. It's a little messy though since they try to pack a lot into a skinny bun...so I fork-and-spooned it like a prissy girl. The side of tater tots were soooo light and crispy...I think it's because it's deep fried (as opposed to baked). They've got a ton of other dog options (as well as burgers) so looks like another trip to the Haus is in order. read more

With our Groupon in hand, we decided to give this place a try. Although their menu of signature dogs is a bit restrictive (they seem to like putting a fried egg on a lot of items), the fact that you can build your own is a definite plus. We ordered a Little Leaguer and an Amigos. Both were fantastic! Serving them up on a bun of Hawaiian Sweet Bread is a wonderful idea and truly impacted the taste in a positive manner. The onion rings we ordered to go with the dogs were a bit on the greasy side. This place is not inexpensive. Even after using the $10 Groupon, we still spent another $10. The second time we visited with Groupon in hand we were much smarter about ordering. Another Amigos (great choice) - this time we shared, however. Also shared an order of the cheese fries. This was a much better alternative to our first visit. I agree with others who have posted about seating. There is not a lot to go around. And when the place gets busy, you might be waiting a while to find a seat. Not a fun proposition when holding a dog in one hand and cheese fries in the other. read more

Lowering my expectations considerably, I heated the second burger in a microwave the following day. Believe it or not, that second burger held up. I like the burgers here. However, the first burger I ordered was missing one of its advertised ingredients: BACON. We took out and we were home by the time I realized this so that was a little sad. I started going to Dog Haus a few month ago when my husband and I moved to the area. It has quickly become a local favorite. They have some of the best chili con carne I've had in a while. I usually get the Reservoir Dog (chili, slaw, cheese, awesome) and a side of the hand cut fries, but I am also a fan of the El Mariachi. Try the sweet potato fries with blue cheese once you'll be glad you did. I've never tried the burgers here but my husband and his friends LOVES them so they must be good. It gets really crowded during the lunch and diner rush (12-1 and 6-7) so I usually go during off times if I can. I understand that it's not as cheap as the sausages at Costco (really?) as another Yelper pointed out, but I think that the hot dogs at Dog Haus are worth the extra few bucks (and you don't have to deal with Costco, it's a win win). I had their Sooo Cali dog with veggie dog sub. The spicy basil aioli is pretty good...Hawaiian bread is toasted on the flattop (may be better if it was more toasted *hint* *hint*). I would definitely have the aioli alone with a dog. With some of the dog left over, I tried their curry ketchup on the dog. That's pretty good ketchup. Atmosphere is very laid back. Variety of people there, families, 30-somethings, and youngfolk. Will definitely go back and would suggest to everybody just to try the interesting use of Hawaiian bread bun. read more

Dog Haus was a delicious treat tucked in the neighborhoods of Pasadena. I visited the restaurant during lunch time and it was very busy. I was able to order within 10 minutes and our food was ready in 20 minutes. My friend and I tried the Downtown Dg which is the haus dog wrapped in smoked bacon with mayo, mustard,, ketchup, sauteed onions and peppers. The haus dog was delicious. It was served on King's Hawaiian bread so it gave the dogs a bit of sweetness. The only bad thing about the haus dogs was that the hot dog bun become soggy from all the juice from the onion, pepper and grease from the dogs. On the side of the haus dogs, I ordered the tater tots and onion rings. The tater tots had a crispy and golden skin. It was absolutely heavenly. The onion ring was also very crispy and golden on the outside. Since it was lunch, beer was out of the question but definitely will compliment the sides well. The ambience of the restaurant was very pub like. The employees were friendly at the register. The cleaning crew was also great about keeping the tables clean and clearing out the trash can. One last comment, the restaurant has many different hot sauces and peppers on the side to add to the dogs. read more

This location is much tamer than the old town location, which is good or bad, depending on what you're looking for. Regardless, the food is pretty consistent. I'm not a fan of the hotdogs (the dogs themselves are fairly mediocre, tasting more like farmer john rather than anything special - not even at the quality of hebrew national or vienna), and the sheer volume of "stuff" that they place on it is heart-attack triggering and way too rich. There IS such a thing as way too much flavor so that something blends into nauseous. I did give them 3 stars only due to the fact that I love their fries, use of hawaiian bread as buns, and super good burgers. I honestly feel that their burgers are way better than their hotdogs, but the hotdogs would be improved greatly if they chose a different type of sausage. read more
