Dory deli is a great lunch spot on the beach! They have really good lunch options including delicious sandwiches, and they have a full bar which is a great added bonuses! There was plenty of seating and you order at the counter, so it's great for a quick bite! I got the Italian Job and the sandwich was delicious. The meat was good, and the bread was even better! My friend had the poke bowl and she loved it. We were all happy with our choices. They are a tiny bit overpriced in my opinion, but you kind of expect to pay those prices on the beach! We love Dory Deli. Always super crowded in the morning, right on the beach, which makes it a fun place to enjoy a bite and some drinks! We came in around 11 & ordered the turkey sandwich & were a bit disappointed. The bread was not toasted & the avocado was a mere spread. It was so basic, we weren't pleased at all. Not sure if it came out this way because of how busy they were but I still would hope for it to be a bit better based on their reputation & because they really are always busy on the weekend. This is a restaurant where you have to go up to the order here sign to order (took me a minute to figure that out) The atmosphere was great and the location is amazing. it's right on the beach so plenty of people watching! As for the food, I got the poke bowl. For $16, not worth it. The fish was not fully deboned, the pickled cucumbers did not have enough salt and in order to actually eat most of it i doused it in soy sauce. The fish had hardly any flavor but it was definitely a pretty bowl! For the aesthetics sure get it, for the taste it's a no for me. Came for their annual beach cleanup event (kudos for doing this every year!) and stayed for breakfast and drinks (yes, I said breakfast and drinks!), they have a full bar open early. While eating my food, they changed the sign out front signaling the transition to lunch items only. That sucks that I was only about 20 minutes from lunch and had to order breakfast. I really enjoyed The Melt, so seldom do I find tuna salad without mayo, and when I do, I order it. Very good, great flavors, good bread, so satisfying. The Rocky Balboa is up there as one of the best steak sandwiches, my husband and I both really enjjoyed the seasoning on the meat and cheese sauce, delicious and very different from others, very much recommended! It does get very busy here, but they have plenty of seating, the food is also ideal to go for enjoying out on the beach. Food is ready quickly, always made to order and hot. Their fries are amazing and the displayed side salads look fantastic, I'll have to be back for more, they serve the Impossible burger as a veggie option I can not wait to try next time. Absolutely gross! Found a hair in our clam chowder and the staff wasn't even phased. Gave us back $2.50 for the cost of the chowder. We later found a hair on our french fries and nothing was done. Loved this place! A great spot to stop while walking around the main Newport Beach area. Dory Deli is a hybrid of an old school deli and a modern sports bar that's also kid friendly. There are no waitresses, you order everything at the bar, grab a seat, and the food is delivered to your table. We came here on a Sunday and it was packed! I ordered food, while my wife searched out a spot to sit. I went with the Yoga Breakfast burrito and my wife had the Blackie's Benny. The breakfast burrito was a great light option filled with egg whites, feta cheese, spinach, caramelized onions, and red bell peppers. The burrito was huge, but I didn't feel like a bloated beach whale ready to explode afterwards. Great flavor, but definitely needed a little hot sauce. Blackie's Benny, eaten the normal way, would probably taste awesome. But when your pregnant wife can't eat raw food, which includes a runny egg or hollandaise sauce, you're basically eating scrambled eggs on toasted bagel. So eat it, the normal way. I also ordered an Iced americano to go, which was delicious and made perfect. A great place in Newport Beach that won't break the bank and leave you felling hungry. read more

We industry folk and know how crazy things can get so we gotta give mad props to Katie the bartender and the MOD Jocelyn today at Dory's like seriously, they were straight-up amazing!! Even though the bar was packed and it seemed like they were running solo, Katie kept the vibe chill and super hype. Their energy was off the charts, making everyone feel welcomed from the get-go, despite the crazy crowd, they stayed smiling and on point, never missing a beat. For real,Dory Deli hit the jackpot with Katie and the manager ( I think her name was Jocelyn) Can't wait to roll back and vibe with them again. Big ups, fam! First time to the Newport Pier. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. Came across Dory deli the vibe was energetic. Open windows in the front allow the sun to come in while lots of seating in the back area in the shade as well. The food menu was reasonably priced. Perfect for a group of friends to gather or couples to go out. I ordered the seared Ahi burger $12. it was delicious. I also ordered a glass of Pinot noir $9 Bartenders and servers were extremely friendly. I will definitely stop by this restaurant when I'm in the area again.
