Our group of nine ate two nights at Duke's. We enjoyed it both times. The first night the music was excellent. The second time a few nights later the music was so-so. Long wait to get in but it was worth it. The grandkids loved requesting the first night ukelele singer to play their favorite music. He nailed it. We had a good dinner with excellent service thanks to Luke. My wife loves their Sticky Ribs and rice. Exceptional! I had the ribs and chicken. The chicken was good but not anything special. The ribs were tender and had a good flavor. My daughter had fresh fish with rice and broccolini. She enjoyed her dinner. And we finished off with a Hula Pie which is incredible! Place is always packed so prepare for a wait. Get reservations way early. After the reservations are full, they will put you on a wait list. read more

Dukes is our first dinner on our first night on Maui year after year after year after year... Etc. we've popped in for breakfast as well and whether we sit at the bar or a table it's always terrific. Their fried rice and açai bowls are A+. For dinner the seafood risotto is consistently wonderful. Service is always great as well as the food and the views. We can't wait to go back and we will! I had the fish platter. It was with a beautiful side, tape piece of mahi that had beautiful sauce on it. It was cooked too perfection. And their lemon vinaigrette was off the hook. I normally don't care for lemon vinaigrette. I give them a 10. I don't usually visit chains I don't like chain restaurants, but we were so impressed with Dukes that we came here for breakfast and then lunch and then we tried dinner. Probably eaten at this particular Dukes more than any restaurant on any of the islands. Never been disappointed! Tonight was no exception. Our server sam was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He did a great job. We started with the crab and mac nut wontons. Perfect and amazing as we expected! So good! We split a ceaser. Really good. My only minor squabble is I like mine dressed a little more aggressive. Still good though. Our entrée s were both mongchong. Mine was mac nut crusted. My wife's was steamed in a banana leaf. Omg! We absolutely LOVE Duke's. This place is always poppin' so make sure you call and get a reservation ahead of time if possible. We always stay in Kaanapali when we visit Maui and we end up eating out at Duke's the most for lunch and dinner. ALL of their food and drinks are so good! They're always so good about any special requests, dietary need changes and any food sensitivity issues. The staff are top tier! They always take care of us! The atmosphere is always that perfect Hawaiian vacation feel and the view of the ocean at all times of day but especially at sunset are just spectacular! read more

We enjoyed a late lunch at Duke's recently and really enjoyed the experience. Location is great, with a clear view of the ocean. The menu had a variety of fresh seafood and more traditional options. The fish tacos and fish sandwich were both delicious, as were the calamari. Price wise, it was similar to restaurants in the nearby hotels, but I would say the quality was significantly better. Duke's Beach House is a classic. Ensure to book during sunset time as the views are amazing. The restaurant is right by the water which provides dinner with a fantastic view. I've been to this location a couple times and each visit had a live music performance, which is a nice touch. You do not have to stay at this particular resort to book a reservation*** Overall, I can say the food was great. 9/10. The drinks were pretty strong but provided a nice ratio with taste. Genuinely the rudest people I have ever had to interact with at an establishment where I'm literally giving them my money. They had a fat problem with the fact that we just wanted to be seated for drinks in their empty space. Literally said to my face "interesting..." and mean mugged me as I said we just wanted drinks. We arrived in Maui on April 7th and Dukes was our first stop. We were staying in North Kaanapali at the Westin and needed a place to hang while waiting for our room. When I saw that Dukes was under the same ownership of Hula Grill, I was stoked! Although I prefer Hula Grill, simply because it's been my favorite spot on the West Side for a thousand years, Dukes brought the hospitality. We sat at the bar and got our first round of mai tai's and they were delicious. We ordered a couple of appetizers, and they were okay. I think I was still comparing the food to Hula. And to be fair, we weren't up for a large meal. Mostly the drinks and those were 4 stars for sure. To be back on Maui, especially after the devastating fires (which cancelled our original trip), and after our own personal loss around the same time, Dukes was the perfect landing spot. I felt like I was home. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming and seemed happy to see a couple of new faces. read more

Always love dukes. Have been here so many times but finally remembered to write a review. We've stayed at the honua kai where this restaurant is located, so it's always been a favorite spot for lunch. We always get the kalua pork nachos to share--usually well loaded with cheese, salsa, black beans, green onions, and kalua pork as well as some pickled carrots and jalapeños. So delicious and enough to share. Kids got burgers and fries--their fries are hot and crispy outside with soft interior. And of course must top it all of with a giant slice of hula pie. Visiting Maui over New Year's - When trying to get a dinner reservation, they were full, but they do accept walk-ins and we were advised to get there around 4 when they open. Turns out, sun is just setting as you reach the end of your meal! Everyone loved their entrees and drinks. Lychee Martini and Guava daiquiris were nice, as was the Mai Tai! Seafood risotto was incredible, and the 24hr sous vide pork shank was incredible. Fresh catches in 3 of the different fish preparations, and they were wonderful. Remember your 'Resort Card' for a free Hula Pie to share when you are done. A $450 dinner and drinks for 5. Can't beat the view. read more

This is my second review for Duke's on this trip. What can I say, we liked it so much we went back... The food was great, The service was great and the atmosphere was great. This is a small menu but everything we had was wonderful! In my opinion, they also make the best Mai Tai on that part of the island. read more

Down side was it started raining just after we got seated outside. And due to the crowd there was no other table available for us to move to. I wanted to leave but we already ordered our food. So we had to move the table under the hut but 1/2 of the table was still getting very wet. The food came out very fast and we had to eat in the rain. The waiter gave us extra napkins to wear on our heads and backs. Everyone was cold and wet. We ate our food as fast as we could so we could get out of the rain. Was very disappointed at how unprepared they are when it starts to rain and 1/2 their tables are outside. read more

the only positive about this place is the location, the service is subpar and they really only care about turning tables. overpriced average food with a view. save yourself some money and time and go somewhere else and find a picnic bench. also rented a daybed from outrigger where we were staying and had to ask 4 times to get service. it's our honeymoon so we were expecting to get some kind of decent service. don't expect it because it won't happen. very disappointed and won't return. read more

The restaurant has such good reviews I was anticipating so much more. We waited for about 45min -1 hr which was fine. We got seated and our orders were taken relatively fast. The host was nice and fast. Once we received our food I was quickly disappointed. Their food lacks flavor and seasoning. It was more like a fish in sauce. Ummm.... Well I generally try to eat at more local spots but Dukes was a 5 minute walk. We were seated after a very short wait with no reservations. Wait staff did a great job and were very friendly. The view of the ocean was amazing. Food was ok. Chicken was dry and ribs were nothing special. My wife had shrimp which were amazing. Drinks were overpriced and not the greatest. Service needs improvement. I don't know what her name was but the waitress that assigns tables has an attitude that made me and my family feel unwelcome. I wanted to eat the açaí bowl from the breakfast menu, but there was a chance that the breakfast menu would not be available by the time my family and I were seated (there was a 25 minute wait). Understanding this, I ordered the acai bowl to-go before they took the breakfast menu away. When our table was ready shortly after, the waitress stated I would not be able join my family at the table for lunch since I had ordered the açaí bowl to-go. This logic honestly just doesn't make sense to me and I found her attitude to be quite unprofessional. I believe that Duke's should hire staff at a standard that is equivalent to Westin's five-star reputation. That being said, the açaí bowl was fine, small for the price, but the taste is 6/10. Ambiance is 9/10. Being adjacent to a top-tier beach helps this case. read more

Valet parking was complimentary and convenient. We enjoyed our lunch with a good view of the sunny beach and ocean. Live music was good - mellow. Mark, our server, was friendly, helpful and pleasant. We ordered the poke tacos appetizer and he suggested we add one since it comes with 3 tacos and there were 4 people in our party. These poke tacos were also quite salty but the rest of our order was delicious and we enjoyed dining at Duke's for lunch. Thanks, Mark. We've been here for 3 days and Dukes was by far the best food and service we've had so far while on the island. We had the banana wrapped fish(sea bass) and shrimp, the ahi steak, and a filet with lobster tail along with the a couple salads. Everything was fantastic and the price is very reasonable. Definitely a must while on the island. The place was busy and we were a little nervous not having a reservation but they were very accommodating. The hostess originally said 45 minute wait but we were promptly sat within 15-20 mins. Great Place!!! read more
