All the food is delicious but our favorites: potstickers, scallion pancakes, pan-fried pork buns, beef chow fun, crispy salt and pepper pork chop, fried rice, and green beans. Hell has truly frozen over: we have real Chinese food in Noe Valley - and it's good. Great Shanghai pan-fried bao (sheng jian bao), among the best in SF. Soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were also tasty with great flavor and a reasonable amount of soup. Dan-dan noodles and BBQ pork buns (char siu bao) were also excellent; not Shanghainese, but tasty nonetheless. The menu lacks some of the old Shanghai standbys that I like to order, including the thick-cut noodle, salted pork/vegetable rice, rice cakes, among others. Hope these make it into the menu after the soft opening! Great outdoor space in the back too! While I will miss Bacco, I'm glad that the original owner has opened this gem in Noe. read more

Dumpling Kitchen is a new upscale restaurant in Noe Valley that opened in April 2024. As of this writing in early May, they still have a "Soft Opening" menu. Staff are very polite, well trained and knowledgeable about the menu and availability. Sherry, a co-owner, procures wines herself. She is very attentive and makes good recommendations on Italian wines that go well with the Chinese food. The interior design is great. Excellent for going on a date, having family or a business meeting. They have a seating area outside where they can roll out a folding awning. Food was great! Steamed Shrimp Har Gow impressed us from get-go. Beijing Style Noodles with Black Beans Sauce confirmed our high expectations. Szechuan Fish Fillet with Pickled Cabbage was excellent too (it's spicy). We will definitely come back with friends. read more

I am overjoyed that Noe Valley has an excellent dumpling restaurant. I went twice in one week. The first time to check it out and the second, to bring my family who are into dumplings. Great food and the soup dumplings were wonderful as well as the other dim sum items. Service was friendly and efficient. We sat outside in the comfortable patio. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, beware. We told our server that one of us was vegetarian and asked for confirmation that what she ordered was all veggie. Two of the three things he brought her had shrimp in them and most upsettingly we found out after she had already eaten half. we didn't end up finishing our meal there. They comped those items and we know there are always jitters during a soft opening, but we probably won't be back. read more

Finally went to Dumpling Kitchen on 24th St and our lunch was delicious! We have frequented this spot for many years when it was Savor and then Bacco. So nice to see owner Shari again who is very welcoming and hands on. We tried about 6 different dishes and everything was super tasty especially the steamed soup pork dumplings and the pan fried pork buns. We enjoyed the house sake with our meal and it was very refreshing. We really wanted to try the chocolate dumplings but we were just too full. A wonderful dining addition to Noe Valley. Everything was pretty flavorful but the thick dumpling wrap/skin was way too thick for our liking and the meat was mushy. Quite delicious find! We normally don't associate Noe Valley as a place to find authentic Asian food but this place is very good! Soup dumplings are enormous and juicy. Pea shoots - so great they only picked the tender shoots to cook! Some restaurants cook old pea shoots and it is like chewing toothpicks! If you are adventurous, try their sour cabbage fish soup (beware numbing spice!). So flavorful and sour! Yum! Highly recommend! read more

Delicious! We had been coming to Bacco since the late 1990s, so we were sad when it closed and not sure what to expect with Dumpling Kitchen. We had a really wonderful experience. The food was delicious, fresh, and flavorful (I'm still dreaming about that garlic eggplant). The service was warm and welcoming. We love the atmosphere of course (hurray for restaurants that don't blast loud music when you're trying to have a conversation). And it was so nice to get to say hello to the long-time owner.
