I chose lobster quesadillas, which were listed under "appetizers". My husband chose the fish and chips. The quesadilla was sloppily made. Some pieces had hardly any cheese or lobster in them. Other pieces were overloaded with lobster and cheese. While it was all edible and the lobster was properly cooked, it still was underwhelming. My husband said the fish was well prepared, flaky and crispy at the same time. There were too many French fries, making the plate a bit messy. In a pinch, Capiz did fit the bill as we didn't feel like going far for a meal that day.

When searching for the perfect steakhouse, several great options appeared, but I'm so glad we chose Eddie Merlot's. What an amazing treat! We were greeted at the door by Selma, the hostess, whose warmth and kindness set the tone for the evening. She wished my friend a heartfelt happy birthday right away, making her feel genuinely special. While we waited briefly, Selma engaged us in such a pleasant conversation that it felt like chatting with an old friend -- a rare touch of hospitality that instantly stood out. Our server, Benjamin, was just as remarkable. Despite having been there for a long 12-hour day, his professionalism and energy never wavered. He made every moment memorable -- attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and sincerely passionate about ensuring we had a great experience. We ordered the Tomahawk for Two with lobster, paired with a rich bottle of red wine, and started with the shrimp cocktail. Every bite was outstanding -- the steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, and flavorful, while the lobster complemented it beautifully. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and chilled perfectly. To top it off, we shared the carrot cake, which was one of the best I've ever had -- moist, rich, and perfectly spiced. As we were leaving, I realized I hadn't asked Benjamin to take a photo of us. By chance, we ran into Selma again, who was literally on her way out for the night but stopped in her tracks and offered to take our photos -- such a thoughtful gesture that made the evening even more memorable. I have to start with how beautiful Eddie merlots is at first glance you just say WOW, I have been here a few times and I still say it. Me and my family dined in they have never been before they were amazed. A nice hostess is always there to greet when you walk in always a big factor. Within seconds we were greeted by our server Kelli right away we felt comfortable and knew great things were yet to come she entertained us with funny jokes with that Bostonian accent my husband kept asking her to say certain words told him to stop but our server didn't mind .They had a special with a porter house was very tempted to get but we didn't next time for sure. We all ended up with filets I took a recommendation to add a cheese crust to it I'm glad I did I would have never would have thought of it if not recommended by Kelli. My kids said they have never had a quality steak like this before, my sons words Texas Roadhouse who made our server laugh. Dining at Eddie Merlot's in Boston mass was one of those evenings that feels truly planned-not just scheduled. My girlfriends and I attended an exquisite five course tasting menu and wine pairing, and it was fantastic! The attention to detail that made the entire five course tasting menu, felt like a guided culinary journey. Every course was perfectly balanced with the flavors of the paired wine. The Wein's didn't just "go with" the food, they ENHANCED it. One of the standup parts of the evening was the GM, Felix, who was both informative and personable throughout the entire experience. We generally felt welcomed. The food was fantastic, the service was great, the staff was attentive in a natural comfortable way. The biggest win: we left having discovered a new favorite white wine! We would have enjoyed just the apps and cocktails but the Steak Medallions were delicious with just enough Gorgonzola. After checking in again with the hostess on the 2nd floor we are graciously walked to our table. The restaurant is enormous with additional seating outside which was an option but we declined due to the humidity. We sat down at our table which was not far from the kitchen. John our server stopped over to greet us and to give my husband this cool menu that says "Happy F*cking Birthday Kevin." We both loved it! Then another server came over asking what kind of water we wanted to drink. After a few minutes go by, John who has also worked for Barbara Lynch asked what we wanted to drink. He had an excellent personality and took very good care of us throughout the night. You could tell the service here is top notch. I ordered a dirty martini which was just ok, and my husband ordered Multiple Personalities, a tequila based drink. WOW, it was delicious. John our server was very theatrical but in a great way. I loved that it asks whether you're celebrating a special occasion and a space to add notes. The reservations were for a Thursday night, so it wasn't too busy. We parked in a garage nearby for about $18, but they do offer valet parking too. It was a hot day, so we wanted to stay inside and thankfully they put us right by the window overlooking the water and airplanes flying into and out of Logan. After sitting down, they placed some bread on the table. It reminded me of a fluffier Hawaiian roll, with a dash of salt to balance out the sweet and buttery components. We started by ordering an appetizer. We were torn between half of them, but with the help of our server, we narrowed it down to grilled oysters ($20 ish); four came in the order and they were very delicious - fresh, creamy, slightly cheesy, and savory. For our entrée, my friend and I shared the 22 oz bone in rib eye (cooked medium; $100), asparagus ($18), and lobster mac and cheese ($28). After about 15 minutes, the food was at our table. The ribeye was cooked to about medium well instead, but it was still tender and flavorful. The marbling was great also. The asparagus was very good. They were lightly buttered, salted, and peppered - simple but great, with even the ends being crunchy and easy to chew. The lobster mac and cheese is always my favorite. It's creamy, cheesy, and has a good amount of lobster chunks. Two people came to our table to help serve us our first portion of sides which was very kind. We had a comedy show to catch in the city, so we were rushing towards the end. They did have dessert for us, but because we were short on time, they packed it for us instead. The bread was cold, old and dry with a hunk of butter or oil in the center. The mashed potatoes were soupy and lacked flavor. The steak, paled in comparison to the well seasoned steak of their past. What happened? I later learned the place was sold in 2019. I guess that may explain the dissatisfaction. The service was good, although it lacked the sophistication of the past. We won't be back.

Tables were finishing up and the restaurant was emptying out but when we left there was a huge line at the door. I don't know if they were letting the kitchen catch up or what. I did notice they go take out orders, and Uber Eats. Honestly if you cannot take care of the patrons sitting in your establishment, you shouldn't also take on the chore of doing take out as well.
