Recently stopped by this restaurant because of restaurant week and I must say it wasn't the best. It's nicely decorated and the service was great. There's metered street parking out front and validated parking ($15) in the garage next door. I ordered the raspberry mojito and it was okay. I've had better mojitos elsewhere. The complimentary bread was not great. No one at the table (of 7) wanted to eat it after taking a bite. Part of the restaurant week menu I ordered the crab soup which was very good. I wish I had more of that. I then ordered the salmon entree which was a huge disappointment. I mean just look at my photo. It looked and tasted like my 4 year old niece cooked it in her Easy Bake Oven. Tragic. The salmon was very bland. The salt and pepper I added couldn't save it. And the green beans were depressing, the potatoes were old and tired. For dessert I got the carrot cake and again what a shame. It was definitely old and dry. If I wanted mediocre food I would've went to Boston Market and paid wayyyyy less. These 2 stars are for the great service. I definitely won't return. read more

What an expensive disappointment. I know businesses are shorthanded, but this place is ridiculous. All steaks came without their sides, and when mentioned, an attitude ensued. After waiting 45 minutes, and finishing the steaks, the server brought out a baked potato and mac and cheese, but not the truffle fries. Who wants a solo baked potato an hour after eating a steak? Ask the diner next time. The twenty dollar burger was also a huge disappointment. It's possible to cook a burger medium-well without having it come out like a Bruins hockey puck. One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. And as a chef I have extremely high standards. From the moment we arrived and were greatest by the GM through dessert everything was spectacular. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu, wine pairings and drinks. All of his recommendations were spot on. As a group of restaurant professionals and foodies we tried alot of their menu and were really impressed. The seafood selection was incredibly fresh, but one of my highlights was the Cajun oysters. The steak selection is unmatched in the city ranging from Prime to A5 Japanese Wagyu. The bone in prime Rib eye marinated in bourbon was amazing as was the Tuscan porterhouse. All the sides are alacarte and were delicious. The tableside bananas foster was well done, and absolutely delicious. Overall an absolutely stunning and amazing experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an amazing evening out. read more

This place just opened, and has fabulous reviews on OpenTable- take the two Yelp ones with a grain of salt. EVERYTHING was spot on. Service was phenomenal and attentive, plus the food was A+. We had a cheese board with shrimp cocktail, filet Oscar style, and a grilled romaine salad with chicken. But the icing on the cake was the bananas foster flambé show table side. First off i want to start with they don't have great service, had reservations for 7:15 got there at 7:10 waited till 7:30 just to sit, we sat down & waited for 25 min just to get acknowledged that's definitely not 5 stars, no drink no sorry wait a second NOTHING, on Mother's Day with 5 women with me ALL MOTHERS, talk about DON'T pay attention, our waiter Olivri i think is his name he walked passed us and we counted 17 times before he even looked at us it was like we were invisible, we had to get up and ask where is our waiter, we didn't end up getting served drinks or water till after 8 not to mention the menu is a let down, not much to choose from this place is definitely NOT get dressed up for restaurant, the chandeliers are nice tho, we got the bread AFTER the appetizer's kind of strange, truffle fries are cold and not that tasty, the charbroiled oysters were actually very good, we never had them done like this. They do give good drinks tho but again the service is horrible, a person should never wait that long for people to come thru and just say hi. We literally saw a manager going to certain people's tables but he never even came to say anything to us, they might be better than what i experienced or maybe it was just a bad night but wow BAD first experience got a $390 bill. Eddie Merlot's is Outback Steakhouse at Capital Grille prices. My visit started with a crinkled wine list, no beer list, and flat sparkling wine dumped in my glass. Even the steak knives won't balance on the edge of the plate. My $65 filet was OK and cooked correctly but on the dry side. Service was good but that could be because I was pretty much the only diner in the place. It's not bad by any means but there are better steakhouses with pretty much the same prices within easy walking distance. read more

We have dined at many steak houses. In Boston my top 2 favorites are Capitol Grill and Grill 23. When I review a restaurant, I take price to quality ratio into account. When I pay the extra money for steakhouse, I expect the quality of the experience to exceed what would get at an Outback but Eddie Merlot's does not make the cut. I should have known when we walked into a very empty restaurant that had 5 star reviews could not be true. The service was fine, but it should have been since there were so few patrons. Not sure how the waitstaff can make any money on tips though. I would imagine it would be hard to hold onto good people. Anyway my wife ordered the shrimp cocktail, and it was fine but in no way would it compare to what the Capitol Grill offers...again if I am looking for fine, ok food than why pay the premium. I had oysters and they were and fresh. Then comes the steaks. OMG my wife had the filet. I often cut up my own whole filets and do not use the "tail" piece for steak. But EM had no issue offering up this scrawny cut of meat. My wife was stunned. I had the sirloin, and it was ok...nothing great and sadly my piece was overcooked and my wife's undercooked. Sure they ask if they are cooked right but who wants to send it all back. We also ordered some French fries. Tiny pathetic serving that was just ok...nothing I would ever order again. So? 2 stars. Well, it was not ok compared to other similar Boston steakhouses in that price range. It was ok compared to Outback but that was not what I was expecting and not what I was paying for. Last comment, before I exited, I headed for the bathroom. As you walk to it you look directly into the kitchen. All the staff was just hanging around talking because there was no need to cook anything given the how few people were there. The food was amazing but the service was not friendly at all. This place is not a friendly place and the service was so slow. My and I waited and there was no bread to start. Then when the food came, I asked for the tobasco sauce with 3 different waiter/waitress and still waited and my friend has to ask again in order to get the sauce she needs for the steak. First yes! I want to take accountability that I was late trying to find parking. I haven't been to the area in a while so it was hard but wanted to go for my birthday! I had a reservation for 8 p.m last night. I called right as we were about to park to say that I was right across the street. When I called the woman I spoke to said the restaurant closes at 8 p.m! I was like I have a reservation at that time which made no sense to me. She said well you have a couple minutes. Okay! Parked and made my over in the rain and got to the front door and it was locked. I and another gentleman waited outside to be acknowledged from the people inside. When they come the man said "Oh you're the 8 o'clock. Yea we're closed" I said that I just called and then he proceeds to lie and said that I called at 8:10 and that they told me no. And when I said I actually didn't and I could show him he quickly dismissed me and said well we gave you 4 minutes! If the restaurant closes at 8 why seat people at 8..why not 6:30? So when you're 4 minutes late they turn you away. And you get a splash of rudeness to go with it. read more

Wagyu beef is beef that comes from one of four different types ofJapanese Wagyu cattle. They are black, polled, brown and shorthorn. There is a lot of marbling in the meat, which means that there are streaks of fat within the red meat which makes the meat more tender and moist, while adding flavor. Unfortunately its also very expensive. My son and a couple of my best friends took me to Eddie Merlots for my birthday. We had oysters. Filet mignon potstickers ( wrapped in wonton ), and the charcuterie and cheese plate to start. All were great. For the sides we had mashed, asparagus with hollandaise sauce and creamed spinach. Then it arrived. My 16 Oz rare perfectly marbled succulent juicy as hell wagyu ribeye. I felt like a jedi as I portioned my steak. The knife cut the meat like I'd imagine a lightsaber would. Every bite melted in my mouth.of coursed I cloaked it with the buttery tarragon infused bernaise sauce. Perfection.Then for dramatic effect our dessert was flambee'd tableside. We had the Banana's Foster, which is a dessert made from bananas and vanilla ice cream, with a sauce made from butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, dark rum, and banana liqueur. The butter, sugar and bananas are cooked, and then alcohol is added and ignited. The bananas and sauce are then served over the ice cream. This perfectly complimented the rest of our illustrious meal. Truly a memorable experience all should have. read more

The restaurant setting was beautiful not gonna lie. We ordered the sweet and spicy shrimp 7/10, they were good but not Green Tea Restaurant or Food wall Restaurant good. The drinks were good as well. Anyways, we gave the plate back and the manager paid our table a visit and tried to tell us were uneducated because were used to food market chicken. Funny of him as we were all raised in the campos of Dominican Republic and have ate free range chicken and it don't taste like raccoon ankles. Maybe its because they didn't even wash it. The waiter was incredibly incompetent. It took MULTIPLE reminders to the waiter for water, bread and LITERALLY everything! It took 45 mins for the drinks after even going up to the bar to ask after multiple requests and then he dropped and broke the glasses and we had to wait longer. He interrupted when someone in the party was ordering. While the manager tried being helpful, I expect more than just promising a free drink if we were to come back this week, as if I would want to come back since our whole experience was ruined. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. Do not spend your money here! I filled my plate with sides and my steak (assuming it had been cooked to order) and had to send it back as it was severely undercooked. The recooked price of steak came back without my sides (ridiculous considering each side is completely overpriced) - the "recooked" steak came back out completely undercooked yet again. The waiter did not come back once to ask about the steak, and when he was eventually notified completely dismissed me. There are far better steakhouses in Boston that are truly worth the money. Additionally, as someone who works in the industry - customers safety should be put first. The amount of individuals who came into this establishment with no masks was disturbing. I had a chance to finally check out this restaurant. I was surprisingly disappointed with Eddie Merlot's. The waiter was way off his game serving the table of 2. The waiter would've never removed the setup for a 4 table setting I had to indirectly mention aloud that the waiter is supposed to take away the extra table settings, he had ample time to do so but it was done until reminded to do so. His memory on the drink order and coming to check to see if the guest wanted drinks was severly lacking. The Barbecue Shrimp was served lukewarm had to be sent back. The French onion soup was ok Eddie's Potatoes were ok. The Baked Sole was meh lack luster the Chocolate Cake presentation looked great and big enough to serve 3 people. But it was served to cold like it was just pulled from the refrigerator dressed up brought to the table I feel the cold temperature of the cake made it taste and feel dry not even the whip cream strawberries/raspberries or ice cream helped. The Banana Foster eh meh so so I'm going to blame it on getting there at 9pm. Even still I feel a restaurant of that caliber should be at the top of their game until the last customer leaves the restaurant. At my table that wasn't the case I can definitely tell you what made the experience worth it all was the amazing beautiful dropped dead gorgeous company that met me at Eddie Merlot's which is why the waiter was given more than a 20% tip I'm not going to say I'll never go back but I'm definitely in no rush to visit Eddie Merlot's any time soon. This may have been the absolute worst experience I've ever had. Ben was the waiter and it was really bad. It was Mother's Day and they ran out of mashed potatoes- probably the most ordered app at any steak house. Took forever to place an order for drinks and even longer to place an order food apps and food. The manager had to ask us about water before our waiter even arrived. Never received bread until after the appetizers were finished. Took over an hour for our entrees to arrive after placing the order and through this whole time, never asked if we were settled or needed more drinks- or just anything in general. Also, every single app and entree was misplaced to the wrong person. I literally had to tell the waiter which 4 steaks went to whom- and he kept looking at the order saying "I don't know why they marked it like this". Not to mention the Mac and cheese was super dry and the steaks weren't really that great. I wanted to say something to the manager but he did not make rounds at all since asking if we wanted water. With COVID happening and people really working hard to make a living, I decided to not make a fuss, just pay the bill and never return again. They advertise as an elite steak and seafood restaurant and it's not. They charge twice as much money as lower end steak houses and the food is no better. It's about as good as Joes American grill. There was a ceiling leak in the mens bathroom that just had a small bucket under it and the floor was soaked.
