This is what I came here for so I decided to order it anyway. They have other items/meals cheaper but initially this was what I wanted. I must say, even though they're expensive it was worth it. The serving size was perfect as I didn't leave overwhelmingly full. Everything tastes really good. The waitress checked on me a few times. As did the manager. I appreciate that. I will say a few things threw me off. 1. The booth seat had crumbs in it. 2. This glass window was broken and an eyesore. You know I checked the bathroom. While it wasn't THAT dirty, this was a perfect time to sweep the floor and tidy up. They were not busy AT ALL. Also, in the first stahl there was an inch/1.5 peekaboo slats all the way down the wall. We were seated right away, around 11:30a for Sunday brunch. It quickly started to fill up and looked much busier when we left. Our food also came out in a decent amount of time and the service was adequate. One note is the menu at the table was difficult to read (small print and not the most accessible font for different vision capabilities). The online menu that the QR code sends you to was different than the menu that was actually available. I got the waffle with strawberries and salted caramel. The waffle was fluffy and crispy. I've been here twice now and it's become one of my favorite brunch spots in Richmond. The food is just so good and I've always been blessed with great service. The last time I visited, I got the lamb chops with sautéed spinach and some potatoes and onions. It was sooo good and my lamb chops were cooked perfectly. My eggspectation of the food was high, hence the name and the food and service definitely matched that. We split 2 dishes. The Cajun pasta and chicken & waffles Cajun pasta- 8 They accommodated my shrimp allegergies and just put it on the side for the table. The pasta tasted homemade and was perfectly cooked Chicken & waffles - 9 Chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The waffle wasn't too sweet and was definitely one of the top waffles I've ever had. I also got a smoothie that is not pictured but hit the spot and had a wonderful consistency. I come here often because it is near an office where I have frequent appointments. They have a HUGE menu with a lot to choose from. Because I love Avocado Toast AND eggs Benedict, I find their Avocado Toast Benedict brilliant. Unfortunately, I haven't enjoyed the other dishes I've tried nearly as much. The service I've experienced is inconsistent, but not to extremes. It's never been fabulous, nor has it been terrible. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not very good. But, my Avocado Toast Benedict is always good. I can't say I'd seek this place out if it wasn't convenient, nor would I miss it much, but I'll keep coming back for the dish I enjoy when I'm nearby. This was my first time trying this place and let's just say they exceeded my eggspectations. I assumed this was just a brunch place but they have quite a lot of variety. They have vegetarian and gluten free options. The inside is nice and larger than expected. A full bar is available and they have some eye catching desserts. Prices and service were okay. My 2yo son and I ate here after his eye appointment down the road. It was late morning and quiet at stony point mall. Place was practically empty. This restaurant is right on the corner of the outdoor mall, so if you don't want to shop, it's easy to get to. If you do, you can just take a left when you're done and explore. Service was casual and light, server was attentive and brought us everything we needed. I ordered the breakfast tacos for myself, which come with egg scramble, a creamy sauce, pico, cilantro, Potatos, and three different meat choices, one on each taco. Chorizo bacon and sausage. Mine arrived without meat and I didn't notice til I ate one. Really good without, but I told the server I was expecting meat. She offered to take it back and make a new plate correctly, or a discount if I didn't have time to wait. 17$ is a lot for just some egg tacos so I requested the full meal. It was amazing. First impressions were not great. We arrived around noon, but there didn't seem to be any "lunch rush" to impact the flow of business . After being ignored at the host stand for a few minutes, we were seated outside as requested. It took almost 20 minutes for our server to greet the table, by which time we had already settled on our order. It took another 25 minutes for my wife's margarita to arrive at the table. It was tiny, but adequate. Immediately thereafter, the food arrived. The food was all really enjoyable. My crepe was huge and well stuffed. The side salad had a delicious olive oil dressing. My wife's Reuben was enjoyable. The prices, though? The prices are all outrageous. I mean, too high by at least 30%. That leads me to my next point: the check automatically included 20% gratuity for two adults and a child! I worked in restaurants for more than a decade, and I have NEVER heard of automatic gratuity for a party so small, and at lunch. Knowing that transformed my impression of the service: they weren't just slow, they had no reason to provide any level of service when they were getting automatic gratuity! Bottom line? After the Michaelangelo Sistine Chapel exhibit, we were feeling a bit peckish and thought we would be a bite to eat at Eggspectations. A lovely place inside. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server pretty quickly. A nice selection from which to choose. As you can tell from the name of the restaurant, a lot of brunch-y things, but sandwiches and salads too. Most of us stuck to the brunch stuff. I rarely turn down a proper Eggs Benedict and enjoyed my order. I especially liked the lyonnaise potatoes that came as a side. Dining companions all seemed to enjoy their orders. The restaurant seems pretty cool with making substitutions when asked too. Our share of the check came to about $50+ with 20% tip added in. A bit more than I usually spend for breakfast. read more

Here's the story of Silverlocks and the Big Bear. Once upon a time, Silverlocks went into this eatery and ordered her breakfast just like she always did. "I'll have my eggs over medium-well, not too runny not too hard, with extra crispy bacon." The nice server brought her meal. "How is everything?" she asked. Silverlocks replied kindly, "These eggs are too hard and the bacon is too limp." So the server took the dish back to the kitchen. A second meal was delivered to the table. The patient server asked again, "How is everything?" Silverlocks smiled and said, "These eggs are too soft, but the bacon is just right! Don't worry about the eggs, most places have a hard-boiled time getting them to my liking." But then, the cook came to the table. He didn't fry off the handle, instead he gave us a warm greeting! He was looked like a Big Bear but so friendly and sweet. The Big Bear said in a thunderous voice, "I want your eggs to be perfect! Let me bring you some more!" "Really", Silverlocks implored, "It's okay, you don't have to do that." But, Big Bear insisted saying, "No, I want you to have them right! We are Eggspectations, after all!" So, Big Bear went back to the kitchen and personally brought out two more eggs. Sadly, they were too runny. But Big Bear didn't give up! Silverlocks told him the secret: "Just make the eggs over medium, then leave them for about another 30-45 seconds and they should come out ok!" Once again, Big Bear served Silverlocks her eggs. He waited in eggspectation as she tried the dish. After one bite Silverlocks declared, "These aren't too soft or too hard! They are JUST RIGHT! And that's no yolk!" Then everyone cracked up! Silverlocks was so impressed with Big Bear's persistence in eggscellent customer service, that she gave the restaurant 5 stars!! What an eggscapade Silverlocks had at this modern, cool cafe! She vowed to come again because Big Bear was so pleasant and she didn't have to shell out a lot of cash! Big Bear grinned and said that he'd always remember her eggsact egg order from now on! And they all lived happily ever after. When Silverlocks went home and told her husband about her eggsperience, he inquired, "Why don't you just order your eggs scrambled?" She answered, "Beats me!" As a breakfast food lover, I was really excited to try out Eggspectation. I checked out their menu ahead of time and was looking forward to trying some creative new breakfast dishes. There were lots of safety measures in place for Covid - masks required, distanced tables, touchless menu, and hand sanitizer stations. I appreciated these measures and felt safe while dining. I ordered the Toluca Poutine. It is supposed to be a take on traditional poutine. It is tots, cheese curds, and grilled onions topped with gravy, pico de gallo, and an egg. In my opinion, it was just okay. There weren't many tots and I didn't see any cheese curds. The chorizo was yummy, but so greasy that there was almost an inch of grease in the bottom of my dish. Not super appetizing! My friend got the corned beef hash and loved it. The service was polite, but got a little inattentive once our food had arrived. It took a long time to get drink refills. The restaurant itself is nicely laid out and I love the decor. Overall, I was impressed with the overall menu options and the atmosphere. Our first visit to this restaurant was on a Tuesday around 1pm. There were two other tables with guests and us. Our server was pleasant but not attentive. The food was good but our overall bill was nearly $50 for two breakfast taco meals. No drinks. We waited forever for the wait person to take our order. First let me say that the staff, atmosphere and coffee were excellent. That being said, what I ordered was just beyond bad and I'm still trying to figure out who came up with this dish and thought it was a good idea. I ordered YOLK AROUND THE CLOCK. Which if you read the description sounds like a bagel sandwich. What I got was two dry bagel slices side by side on the plate, tops facing up. The eggs were underneath the bagel and on the top of the bagel was bacon and "melted" cheese. The cheese was plastic cheese. You know how when you heat cheese it turns darker before melting. Yeah it was the dark part but not melted and had the consistency of plastic. I finally just used a knife and fork trying to combine the ingredients. The potatoes were not good either. They were cooked but sweet. I have no idea the sauce on them but it was too sweet and off putting. I couldn't eat them or cover the taste with catsup. So would I go back? Unfortunately I have to update my review because ever since they filed bankruptcy a lot has changed. They have increased the prices, decreased the food..and after several visits there are always a ton of flies near the booth/window area. It was so bad we had to ask to be moved. The kids meal is now $7.50 which includes nothing!!! 1 pancake is $7.50 with no bacon or side included. A cup of orange juice is $6.00!!!!! Also, I always order the iced coffee but some waiters don't even know they offer it. They will bring a regular coffee with ice in it, but others do make it right. This is usually my go to breakfast spot but I don't think I will be returning to spend $100 on a breakfast for 2-3 read more

This was my first time here and we went to celebrate my moms birthday. We were actually planning to go to Latitude across the way but they weren't able to accommodate us. We had a lot of empathy for the restaurant being severely understaffed. He was the only server working and serving the entire restaurant.. not ideal but still relatively attentive to our large party. So, I ordered the Lobster Mac, other in my party ordered an omelette, lamb chops, crab cakes, and lasagna. The food took a while, again, kitchen staffing issues.. some peoples food was wrong but can't say who's responsible. My food came hot and was pretty flavorful! The lobster wasn't cooked perfectly but wasn't overcooked either (which most restaurants tend to do). The crostini was good as well. Since some orders were wrong, Deandre was seeking to rectify it but couldn't bc it seemed as if right after our food was finished the kitchen closed.. this wasn't good. My friends felt very disrespected by not having received what was ordered. We tried several of the desserts and the common consensus was that they were good but nothing fancy. And, the bar was pretty darn good! I would come back but it's not on my list of places I'd dine regularly. I would like to see this restaurant make some different decisions regarding the kitchen operations so that if something is wrong, customers are treated as fairly as the customers who dined earlier.
