This was my first visit to Einstein Bros Bagel and I must say I wasn't too impressed. Their menu is pretty basic and easy to order from. I decided to order off of their lunch menu although I was extremely tempted to get a breakfast item since they serve breakfast all day. I got the chicken Cuban Panini with a side of potato salad and a cup of decaf coffee. It came out to be a little over $10. That is kind of pricey if you ask me! The coffee there isn't bad. They had a few flavors like vanilla hazelnut, Melvyn's dark roast and their neighborhood roast. I just tried their neighborhood roast. It reminded me of a better tasting variation of the Seattle's Best coffee brand. For my Panini, there was nothing special about it. It had thick cut slices of chicken breast, diced green peppers, with diced pickles that all laid on a bed of melted Swiss cheese and topped off Dijon mustard. The breading of the Panini was extremely tough and thick which made it a challenge to bite. I can't say I would order it again but for $7.65 I expect more. The potato salad wasn't very good either. It was extremely bland throughout. Meh. The environment was pretty relaxing. They have old school background music playing through the ceiling speakers which provides for an easy studying environment. They also provide free Wi-Fi which was nice. Some Yelp reviews prior to mine mentioned issues about the cleanliness of the place. When I walked in today, there was a bunch of seeds and bits from the bagels all over the floor. The workers did take notice of the mess and started cleaning the carpet and tables as I was having my meal. After the workers take your order and bring over your food they don't acknowledge you after that. I expected better customer service. Overall the food and the service here was adequate. I'm always down for a good bagel and lox and Einstein Bros Bagels has it, along with a wide variety other bagel sandwiches. I also like their turkey sausage and cheese bagel sandwich, not too many places offer turkey sausage. Where I have to be critical is when it comes to the feel of this place. First of all, you place your order and don't pay for it up front, you pay for it at the next register. I may be weird but I don't get or like this system. Would rather order and pay, then wait for my order. Just seems odd to me to have it set up that way. There's also really no space for you to stand when you're waiting for a "to go" order. This place tends to be packed with customers in the morning, leaving no tables or chairs to sit on when you're waiting for your order. You could stand near the coffee, fountain drink machine or trash, but you end up in the way of other customers looking to use these items. You could stand next to the counter, but you'd just be in the way of customers who came in front of you picking up their order. You could stand near the entrance of the bathrooms, but again, you'll likely be in the way of people coming in and out of the bathrooms. It's just a bad layout! Lastly, and it's not really a problem with Einstein Bros Bagels but more a comment on society and their clientele, but it just seems like the people who come here are overly rude...can anyone utter the words "excuse me" when passing in someone's way anymore??? read more

Ordered the bagel and lox nova sandwich it was ok there wasn't a smokey flavor to the salmon made it taste more like sushi. I will stick to Goldstein bagels. The layout is kind of weird too when they don't have enough staff to cover the order counter and pay/pick up counter so the one person is running back and forth while the other staff is handling the food. read more

Super friendly service. It can get pretty busy here in the morning but most people get food to-go so there's plenty of tables open. Ordered lox on a bagel and it tastes amaaaazing. You can really taste the smoked flavor. Free wifi so it's a good place to grab a quick breakfast and do some homework :) read more

To Yelp's standard, I'm considered a "regular" here but I've only been here twice. This place is not too shabby. The big drawback is that by afternoon, most of their bagels are gone. There is no replenishment for the rest of the day. Perhaps, that's why this place gets a lower rating. Otherwise, I like that there is wifi and a place for me to sit and study or do work. Just picked up a phone order and they screwed up my order yet again. At least 50% of the time they mess up phone orders. When I called to let the manager know she said that we ordered it that way. Most definitely I did not...we made them read the order back and it was correct. If your employees can't enter orders correctly or make them accurately that is not my fault. The correct response is "I apologize for the mistake, how can I make this right?" You are in the service industry, your job is to make your customers happy. CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE! I've had Einstein bagels before, but this was my first in store experience. The cashiers are pretty nice and informative. If you ask then what's good they don't give you a generic "everything" answer, they tell you exactly what their opinion is, which is great for indecisive people like me! Now, onto the food. I had their turkey sausage sandwich pretty good on the asiago. I also got their Bakers dozen bucket, which comes with cream cheese. Bagels are soft, for my cream cheese I got the salmon shmear. The best bagels! Seriously good. I suggest you stick w/the breakfast items as that's their forte - and served all day. Nova lox on a toasted bagel is my personal favorite. It's old school and perfectly assembled. Yum! The staff has always been exceptionally engaging & patient w/my frequent indecisiveness due to the abundance of bagel choices. God bless them. There are very, very few times I feel wistful for something from the East Coast, but when I do, it's because I have walked into Einstein Bros. with a hankering for a nice hot pastrami on a toasted rye bagel. And I can't get one. This is a very California bagel place. Yeah, sure, they call cream cheese 'shmear,' -- but don't be fooled. This ain't New York. Here you'll find the likes of turkey and avocado club ... asparagus and mushroom eggwhite thinwich ... chicken and strawberry salad. Ham (yes, ham!) and chicken with mozzarella. Spinach & cucumber sandwich with vegetable cream cheese. I love California cuisine, but if I wanted spinach and avocados, I'd be at Good Stuff. I'm at Einstein Bros because I want a pastrami bagel! The one, two and three star reviews for this location are right on. They have excellent bagels but their customer service is horrible. There is always a long line to place the order. More often than not they are out of the bagels that you want. There seems to be a real lack of leadership here and zero focus on customer service. This place used to be called Noah's Bagels. And I still call it that, because Einstein is known for being a genius, but Noah had bagels on the ark to feed the animals. And they were delicious. By the book employees, follow the rules. They don't open till 9:00 and there is No Way you are getting any coffee one second before. The customer is an inconvenience and a burden to these employees. Why make a customer wait when you don't have to? When I finally paid my total was $14.25, I laid down a $20.00 as the cashier I was inconveniencing entered the amount tendered into the system I added a Quarter. Big mistake...! The bagels are good but the cashier we had was very rude. She could not figure out how to apply a coupon that was emailed by the company. She then got upset when I insisted that she apply the coupon, that I politely showed her, since that was the main reason why we were there. Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. My husband comes here often and spends a pretty penny as he buys for work, you would think they'd treat their regular customers better. The manager/owner is rude and totally ignored us when we asked her to toast some of our bagels(we ordered a dozen). When we asked her again she said she couldn't because she had already placed the bag next to the register which we hadn't even touched yet. She then replied rudely that we have to tell her ahead of time, which we had and she ignored our request. A simple apology would have sufficed instead of her rudely implying that she couldn't. My husband said that the manager had been rude on numerous other occasions, he was still nice of enough to give them business. I wish I could give this place negative stars. This was our second time coming here and we thought it was a great place to grab deliciousness in the mornings before heading to work/school. Understandable the low rating. 2nd time here. Came in on a Sun afternoon 1pm. They close at 3pm. I get it, 2 hours til you shut the doors, you might not have the full array of bagel options. However, there were 29 bagel trays, only 13 of those had any bagels left. Only 13 choices out of 29, yes , I counted Counter girl indifferent, no customer skills at all. No apologies , nothing. Couple people inside when I came in around 7:30. I've only been here once, and I was feeling nice about getting the company bagels (and also since we had a guest from one of our mid west offices come in). I don't drive around this area to remind myself that this bagel location is here but I had a tick to eat lox and bagels one day. So using my Yelp app on my iPhone, I began my lox and bagels hunt. Once I arrived at Einstein Bros, it made me feel like I was at Brueggers's (Newport Beach). The menu was simple to order from, and I got the regular baker's dozen with two different kinds of cream cheese. The price was good for what the baker's dozen consists of, but the lox and bagels not so much. The lox and bagels were kinda pricey for what it really is but I understand that's where the the marketprice for the smoked salmon comes in. I'm only giving this place 4 stars because of the bagel that came with the lox. I felt the bagel was overly too thick and maybe it could have been more mouth appropriate. But then again, maybe I could have told the person making my food to hallow out some of the bagel. Who knows, it happens. The taste was on point, the smoked salmon was thick and not skimped on, along with the tomatoes, red onion, and capers. Lox and bagels come in a cardboard box container with a clear film and on two separate bagel halves. I personally would prefer it to be in sandwich form but since the bagel was too thick (and also cream cheese on the bread, couldnt hallow it out) I just had to eat it by halves. Taste was delicious. I would come here again, would recommend it but I don't know how many bagel fans there are out there. I think they do lunch/regular sandwiches as well as salads and soups. It became my go to when I was down in San Diego for college, and now, it's my go to bagel shop back here in LA/LB :) Customer service is mediocre but not bad..not in my experience anyway.
