Been a customer for some time now and I'm very disappointed, 3 times no dressing on my tostada salad, and lately they have up the prices and give less food. The tostada salad had only about 4 small pieces of chicken. I've called many times because they always forget something, which is inconvenient because I don't get to enjoy the food anymore. I really love El Pollo Loco but this particular establishment has gone down. I had to call before because 2 times in a row, they'd forget my side of rice. Recently the meat in the pollo bowl was awful, small pieces and mostly beans. Then today it was worse, over salted and little bits of meat, like scraps. Asked for pick de Gallo and they give me House salsa. I ask this looks like the house salsa and not pico so then he asks the ladies and they say, oh we don't have any. Umm it's 1:00 not 8:00 pm. I love El Pollo Loco in general but this location definitely needs to make some improvements. First off, the last TWO orders I placed were missing my large side of rice. The avocado salsa tasted VERY bland and different and trust me, I've enjoyed this salsa MANY times so I know what it's supposed to taste like. My side salad was full of old pieces of lettuce and none of the requested dressing was put in the bag. Previously, I've also received hard churros with no sugar (a previous reviewer mentioned it and yes, it has happened to me too). I've never had any of these issues at any other El Pollo Loco and they're one of my favorite fast food chains. Covina location, please fix this. Last night my daughter went through the drive through and ordered the birria tacos. I've had them at another location before so I knew what to expect First of all she had to move out to the front because they had to prepare and cook them. Hmm I didn't have to wait at the other location! I thought ok they will be fresh. When I received them they were awful! First of all they were half filled and then they burned them and had the nerve to wrap them in foil and box them as if everything was ok! Not a big fan of this location. I always seem to order the same thing when I go to El Pollo Loco...which is the 2-peice combo. The chicken portions that they give you here is so ridiculously small! The thigh looks like they cut it in half, and the drumsticks are so small, that they literally look like hot wings at times. I always ask for a side of the cilantro dressing and this location seems to have a problem with giving them out. I was told there was a 25 cent charge for each small container. There is no other El Pollo Loco I have been to that charges you for a side of the dressing. They really skimp on the portions here. I drive a little further down the street to visit the other location and am satisfied there. My suggestion is to stay away from this location. read more

I came here and ordered food through the drive thru and even though I was distracted I noticed the young cashier took a little to long with my card. When she returned my card she looked guilty, and I had a bad gut feeling, so I locked my debit card right then and there. Soon enough many charges were trying to be made with my card, but since I had put a lock on my card none were successful!!! People are so scandalous, so be aware. To the young cashier nice try. This has actually been long overdue as this is my El Pollo Loco of choice, and for good reasons as well, because I've continually had a great time dining here. No matter if I am doing a take-out, or planning to dine in, I'd say 95-99% of the time, every single staff member I've interacted with were super polite, and very often bursting with great attitudes. In addition, most, if not all, employees are well trained. So I always get my orders within 5 minutes, or 10 minutes (AT MOST) during severe rush meal hours. Service is fast and consistent. Though not directly applicable to me, many of the workers are bilingual, and they speak both English and Spanish. Due to the high population of Hispanic communities here in Azusa/Covina, this is not only to the business's advantage, but to the patrons' end as well, as even I could feel this made the overall experience more family-like and personable. Again, this goes back to their having excellent customer service, which I really, really appreciate, since I know some other El Pollo Loco, or fast food restaurants in general, would not be able to match the same level of professionalism. Prices at Loco are reasonable, though I would suggest you to download the restaurant's app to maximize cash-back rewards, occasional coupons, and freebies. She and the original cashier both apologized for the inconvenience. I asked for them to sub in with corn, which they obliged gladly. Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting anyway, but now I got to "customize" it with corn. Sweet. I love corn. When the order was ready at about another 3 minutes later, (wow, fast service), another young man who handed me my order again apologized for their mistake. Wow, at this point, I was blown away how apologetic they were. Maybe I looked grumpy, but rest assured, I was not angry at them at all. Nonetheless, I appreciated the professionalism. Now, onto the food. It was all right. $5 for a protein dish, not bad. With the same coupon, I'd come back. Without that coupon though, no thank you. The amount of food served in my bowl was not worth $7 something, though it tasted decent enough. But thanks, Crazy Chicken. Why do the chain fast food by my house (crazy chicken, subway) have to suck so bad.... Everytime I get food from here, doesn't matter if it is app, or drive thru, they mess up the order. Wow has this store gone downhill. Went to this location last week and my wife complained chicken salad was prepared poorly. Wilted lettuce, a very small portion of chicken, no requested salsa. Tonight we decided to try it one more time and it was even worse! I ordered dos locos taquitos and it was absolutely terrible. The salad was just thrown in a bowl and the taquitos were ice cold. Looks like they were never cooked, I ask for creamy cilantro dressing and received an extra small portion that didn't even fill 1/4 of the small cup it came in. My wife ordered the dos locos quesadilla, once again prepared poorly, as it was dried out and tasteless. The salad also was dried out. I understand the problems restaurants are going through but I expect much better from pollo loco. In the last year, higher prices ( I don't mind if you get decent food), smaller portions, poor quality presentation. This location used to be excellent but I wont be going back soon and recommend you avoid it as well read more

My husband and I went through the drive through and ordered 2meals of the hard shell taco bowl and I handed her a coupon she said it's expired I can't take it I was like I just received them not that long ago she said I can't except it so she said I can give u another coupon for the taco salad bowl I said ok but I don't want the soda she said can u go park in the front mind u didn't charge us and told us to park in the front . By far one of the worst experiences we have had at pollo loco. We just left the spot that says they close at 11 (it is 7:25 now). To be told that they don't have the chicken advertised. That they can only provide the mix option and would charge more even though it's on them for having it. It did appear that they had plenty of chicken on the grill but didn't want to provide that. Finally, the salsas section is empty and their excuse is that they were busy so don't have more to give. Asked for manager, turns out we were speaking to her already. Adriana S, the manager, when asked how this was fair towards the CONSUMER, responded with a simple "don't know what to tell you, but we ran out and can't do anything about it." I have been going to this El pollo loco for almost 2 years. They are always fast and friendly. Especially Kim! She is the sweetest, kindest, and friendliest young woman. I go there mostly for my 3 year granddaughter Sofia, who loves the chicken mashed potato and rice combo! Kim goes above and beyond to satisfy us. Whether she is busy or not, she always takes the time to ask us how we are doing and makes us feel welcome. I never thought I would be impressed with the customer service at El Pollo Loco, but here we are. I was here this week on Thursday for lunch and again on Saturday around noon. Of course the food is delicious however, the customer service is amazing. Both times at the drive through the ladies who were taking my order asked how my day was and if I had anything planned for the weekend... my mouth dropped.
