I have been less than impressed both times I have tried this place. This latest time was by far the worst experience I have ever had. My wife and I both got 2 piece chicken platters to go. Upon getting home we realized the chicken was dry and burnt. We ate what we could and fed the rest to our dog and 2 cats. Now all five of us are vomiting profusely. As soon as I walked inside, I noticed the cleanliness from both the lobby and salsa bar. The cashier was really friendly and helpful when taking my complicated order. Not a minute went by and my food was ready!!!! I have gone here a few times through drive thru and within 30 seconds my food was ready. All options from the menu are delicious. I've been to this restaurant twice, both times expecting it to be an authentic alternative to Taco Bell. Unfortunately, Taco Bell actually does a better job with their cardboard renditions of "Mexican Food." El Pollo Loco's prices are at least 30% higher, and yet the food is bland, cold and seemingly not too fresh. Their "combo" means they add a drink and a bag of stale tortilla chips. I was pissed today. I ordered a CHICKEN avacado burrito light on the cabbage. CHICKEN AND SHRIMP dont sound the same let alone look the same. I told the guy 4 times a chicken burrito not shrimp. If I could rate no stars I would. Terrible customer service. The restaurant was completely empty at about 7:35pm. It had 2 people sitting in there eating their meal & there was no one in line or at the cash register. After reviewing the menu for about 20 seconds we were ready to order. The cook in the back just kept looking at us not saying anything then finally a cashier named Eduardo came by so I got closer to the cash register standing in front of him but instead of greeting me and telling me to wait a minute or asking what I wanted, he started ordering for himself. (You could read the screen for what he was clicking on the screen) after he was done he still stood there and I asked him if he was ready & he ignored me and stepped off to the side. Never once made eye contact with me or the person I came in with. The lady that was sitting at the booth came over, cut in front of us and gave him her tortillas and he acknowledged her & took them. We were looking at each like what the hell? So we left and took our business else where. Stuff like this normally doesn't get to me but if all three of the employees that I could see in the kitchen could see me and not one of them did anything. I hope the manager sees this and does something to educate his or her employees about better customer service. read more

The corn taste really good. The tortilla taste a little bland with or without food with it. Bathrooms are a little to small.

I have been there before and all was fine. This last weekend the salsa bar was dirty and completely empty and the cashier just stared off into space when I pointed it out. it's an important part of the experience and it was totally lacking. I will not repeat this experience. read more

Got the burrito brought to me so can't speak to their service.. But their food is awesome! That's some good quality chicken! Do not go here. Drive to fairfield instead. The staff lacks customer service and are very stingy. I ordered a family meal and when i asked for more sauce they only gave me 2 sauces because "they needed to have enough sauce for everyone else" lol what in the world?! I came back to this location about 2 weeks ago and ordered some tacos. When I asked for more lime because they only gave me one slice they asked me to park in the front. Btw there were no other cars in line (I went throught drive-thru). I parked and waited for 10 minutes and someone finally came out and handed me 2 more slices of lime that did not look fresh. This particular restaurant is horrible, I've seen a worker spill salsa on the ground then scoop it up and put it back into the salsa bar, also motioning to one of his coworkers to "stay quiet". It makes me not want to come here ever again, plus the bathroom are where workers go to text on their phone or do other innapproriate things. The food takes forever because the staff is slow and incompetent. They barely answer the phone because their too busy laughing with each other on the back. Went in for a the promo where you would get a free burrito. Come'on who in there right mind would not take up a free burrito? Okay so i get there around 7:05 on 4/05 did not order until 7:09. i looked around when waiting for my food & all i seen was angry faces to what was going on. Come to find out there were like 3 different orders that were mixed up so the Manager on duty ran outside & tried to chase down two people. Obliviously that didn't work since he gave it to the drive thru window. So there goes 10 minutes of him trying to see what he can do instated of him apologizing & offering to re-make there food in the 1st place. As i continue to scope this place out people start to get more angry. I know why, not because the two high school kids keep taking orders without helping expediting the food that people have been waiting for. While the manger is doing drive thru he totally zones out the dinning area. Mind you drive thru was moving pretty quickly while the dinning room was packed of angry customers. The two high schools kids finally see that people are getting angry so they start pumping out some food. But they suddenly run out of CHICKEN!!!!! WHYY!!!!!!! its POLLO (Chicken) POLLO!! so the customers(including myself) get more anxious & get even more angry! So i ask to speak to the manger Jose i believe that was his name. But he was busy doing drive thru! ohh & mind you i had a chicken burrito & a shrimp!!!! that got me even more mad. So i start asking where is my stuff or at least give me my shrimp one. 32 mins later i got my two burritos & did not get a chance to talk to the manager! I would have enjoyed to have some chicken on my bones. Maybe el pollo loco is Spanish for no chicken. The beans were undercooked and soupy and it was the second time we had been there and we have not been impressed either time. The tortillas were sickening, steamed in a plastic bag and when you take them out of the bag, they become cold immediately. Both times, it was NOT GOOD. I just came back with an 8 piece family meal with rice and beans sides, flour tortillas and pico de gallo. Yech! First, all 8 pieces (legs and thighs) were tiny pieces. I expected 4 legs and 4 thighs. Nooo, 5 small legs a 3 small thighs.That means 3 out of 4 in a family of four gets a leg and a thigh the fourth person gets screwed. The salsa was definetly not fresh and the tortillos were old and chewy. The pint of beans was half bean juice. All this for $20. What a Rip! Recently, I went into this location 03/05/11, approx. 4:30pm and the place was filthy. I asked for someone to clean a booth, and 3 employees just stood there and said ok, but no one went to clean any tables. After I ordered my food, I noticed how dirty and wet the front counter where your food is served was. I had to ask again for someone to clean a table, we were just standing there around the dirty tables, all the ones that I could see were dirty. The young man stood there in a daze and said which one needs to be clean, his co-worker finally had to tell him to clean all of the tables . Finally I asked for a manager and requested my money back, and I asked her to come around the counter and pointed out the dirty areas of the store. I had my daughter and 3 grandchildren with me. To tell me the store was busy is understandable, however, no one was driving off when I was parking, we were talking in the car for about 10 minutes, prior to going in, and no one had entered the store. 3 people standing at the counter chatting when we walked in. I had been in the store for 15 minutes, only 1 person entering the store for take out, and still no one was cleaning it up. Now wouldn't you think they would have taken a look around once someone asked for a table to be cleaned? Shame on you! I am very disappointed in the lack of service in this establishment. You never know who comes into your business, I could have been a friend to the store owner, who knows. The store should always be ready to serve the customers. I have been to this store before and the food is good, but I was deeply disgusted with the lack of concern there was for the condition of the store on this day.
