Established Today is a really cool Melrose coffee shop that works just as well for getting some work done as it does for a casual date. The outdoor area is especially nice, and the music and record collection give the whole place a lot more personality than your average cafe. I have also randomly ended up here when they had a Burning Man pop-up clothing store set up in the back, which was a fun surprise and felt very on brand for the space. My go-to is the ube matcha, and it is so good. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to. read more

I visited for the first time on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and loved the coffee shop's aesthetic. I didn't get the chance to listen to any of the records but want to do that the next time I visit. Staff were friendly. I got the London Fog latte on this visit and thought it was a little weak but not terrible. They have a good range of interesting sounding drinks and the matcha that was coming out looked good. Nice little cafe on Melrose Ave, within walking distance of Fairfax High. Cool vibe, has the whole hybrid-funky vinyl records collection thingy going on. As for the latte I ordered it was decent-as was the greeting and overall customer experience. The reality is that most cofee shops are the same, even those that try to come off as being unique. Popped in today for their ELF pop-up and WOW -- I was seriously blown away. This coffee shop is such a vibe. Vinyl records everywhere, cozy but cool atmosphere, and just an all-around dope space to hang in. My barista Ritchie was the coolest person ever and made us feel so welcomed and entertained (we laughed the entire time they made our coffees) and gave us great recs off of what we were looking for. The space is pretty big and there's a few different corners to choose from. One is where the bar-like table and high chairs are at, another is more of a lounge-y space, and the other has individual record listening stations. There's also cushions lined around their entrance with small tables if you want to be outside. There's a back outdoor area that we found out is only open on the weekends, and near the bathrooms in the back, there's a few classic arcade games. Such a good vibe with the music/cafe combo. The ambiance and materiality is really warm and soothing, with a great sound system and good music playing. I love that it's open late, went at 4 pm on Saturday and stayed until almost 6, it was pretty chill which was great to explore the vinyls and listening station. The premade chia pudding etc items were excellent, and after asking for recs I ordered the cold brew + mocha cold foam. It was a bit strong with just the foam to dilute the cold brew, but decent. They have many drinks on the specialty menu, including the fall ones still. I do wish they had for-here glasses/mugs to use in the cafe instead of just the plastic option for the iced drink. Fair warning also, the specialty drinks are more expensive than average. There are couches, lounge chairs, and stools/tables for a variety of seating options. read more

Unique cafe with cool vibes! I visited this cafe on a Friday early afternoon and I'm glad I did because this place serves up some good vibes and drinks! Walking in, I loved the decor. There seemed to be a music theme with all the speakers and records decorated throughout the cafe. You could even select records to listen to on the spot there which I thought was really cool. Ordering and receiving my drink was relatively quick and easy, I got my drink almost immediately. I ordered the strawberry matcha and it was good. The best part was the strawberry cream and purée which had a nice strawberry flavor and was sweet and creamy. The matcha itself was okay, I wish there more of a matcha concentration relative to milk. Mixed together with the strawberry, it was good though. It felt more like a strawberry drink with some matcha flavoring. I also liked the strawberry and basil topping which they picked fresh from a basil plant. The seating was also nice too. There were many different seating options from outdoor to indoor and window seating. There were also outlets and wifi, so this could be a good study/work spot. There were even retro arcade games in the background which was really cool! Overall, I liked my experience here. Walked by on a Sunday afternoon and decided to pop in for a fun drink! The music was pleasant albeit very loud. You have to shout a bit to communicate with the baristas which I can imagine gets old quickly. Based on the baristas recommendation, I ordered the mango coconut matcha. It came out fairly quickly and tasted great. I wish the menu listed that it was topped with coconut flakes, because I would have asked to skip them. If you're into music, this place is surely for you as they have live DJ performance occasionally and always on loud music playing on the background. The place and the interior were just vibing, especially if you don't mind having it at pretty high volume. They served pastries from nearby bakery, Ludivine, and Thai Tea as well as Thai Coffee beyond the regular espresso based drinks. There might be bit of line during weekend, but it moved swiftly. I went for their Almond Croissant which wasn't bad but wouldn't say it's outstanding either. Pretty stuffed with the almond paste, but I knew the town offered so many good options! Spent the whole Friday working from this cafe and loved the vibe. Plenty of seating (a rare find), strong cold brew that kept me locked in, and surprisingly good chia pudding. Around 3PM, a DJ rolled in and started spinning, which sounds chaotic but was actually kind of perfect -- the music added energy without being disruptive. Unfortunately, the day that I visited, they were having issues with their water or their machines so they were unable to make any drinks which was rather dissapointing as I always love seeing who can make a good coffee. As for the ambience, it is so cool and inviting. The music was a little bit too loud but if you are one that can get work done in up-beat environments, this place might be for you! However, I was super disappointed by the lack of matcha flavor, especially for the price. I really only could taste the ube and the coconut flakes. The barista who took our order wasn't the warmest, but they could have been having a bad day. Most of the customers were doing work or catching up with friends, and there's plenty of comfortable seating both inside and outside the cafe. The individual listening booths are a nice touch but I didn't see anyone take advantage of them while we were there. Did I have a third-place experience? Of all the neighborhoods in Los Angeles, I had it in Melrose. I'm perplexed, in a good way. I visited later in the day and opted for their iced black tea instead of an espresso drink. It cost $5.38 plus a $1 tip. Service was speedy, and I could grab a table to settle. The iced black tea was OK. I enjoyed the floral notes; it wasn't bitter, so the tea was steeped well. They utilize space well. Although it was busy when I arrived, I did not feel claustrophobic at any point. They also have charging ports, which is rare for coffee shops. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. Seemingly a cozy cafe with lots of seating and turntables/vinyls you can use, i decided to stop by while in the area. The menu offerings are pretty simple and basic, no drinks that are too unique to this spot. However, please update your menu prices if the system has a different price on the drinks. I'm not even sure why the menu would be wrong if this place opened recently and the menu was printed out weeks ago. I was up charged an extra $1.50 for a tea bag in some hot milk and didn't notice until after I paid. Excluding details, please do not make the customer feel like it is his/her fault as we do not want to make a big deal when there are people waiting behind us and feel pressured to just ignore the deal and move on. A newer coffee shop and I can tell it's gonna go viral soon. The aesthetic is such a vibe. It's got a wall of vinyls with individual listening booths, as well as communal seating in the middle area, and then tucked away on both sides is more seating and tables. I love the disco balls and the second wall of vinyls. The space is pretty big which is nice for a coffee shop since you don't feel crammed or anything.
