Experience has taught me to show up for my online order at least 15 minutes after they say it will be ready. This time I waited 45 minutes for my online order, as customers who placed their orders onsite received their food before me. After checking in a second time, my order was miraculously ready and I was given the (now cold) side dishes that sat on the counter the entire time while I waited. The chicken is always good but wow was the service bad tonight. I went around 6:15 pm on a Saturday night and there was a line and when I got to the front the manager said they weren't taking orders at the moment. I decided to wait, I kept waiting for about 30 minutes before my order was taken. I was going to leave and then right when I was about to they were ready to take my order. They kept taking online orders rather than the people that were there in person. No employees were wearing gloves, the manager had her mask under her nose more than half the time. My family and I came in tonight for dinner. The place was busy. The employees were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very small but clean. Between us we ordered chicken, chicken tenders, fries, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and beans. I agree with another poster that it is not quite as good as Bob's chicken and more but everything was still delicious. And I love having a place that serves really good fried chicken up on the Southhill! We are definitely going to be back and we are going to tell all of our friends to go here as well. This is the best place for fried chicken in Spokane. That being said, their service is less than what's expected. The staff wasn't friendly or helpful at all. Their service is slow. Rating of zero for professionalism, customer service and knowledge on how to handle a rush. Employees stacked several orders that were ready to be given to the customer and proceeded to hand them out all at once instead of as they were prepared causing long lines and customers to have to sit and wait unnecessarily. Had to wait in a long line out the door with paying customers for an order I already paid for online. Even if you order online they do not start preparing your order until you arrive and wait through the ridiculous line to inform them you've arrived; therefore it doesn't speed up the process to order online as one would anticipate. And to top it off I politely tried to get the gals attention from behind the counter 3 times and she proceeded to ignore me! I will never come back and will never recommend this business to anyone. This was my first visit to Ezell's after seeing a video about the one in Seattle on YouTube. I figured it was closer in Spokane, I'd like to try it. Atmosphere was great, choice of music was excellent and the food arrived in less than 10 minutes after the order. The only issue I had was I ordered hot & spicy chicken and it was regular chicken. I could have said something but the flavor of the chicken I had was good and tasty, so I didn't complain. The next time I go to Ezell's (and there will be a next time), I will be sure to confirm what I'm getting is exactly what I ordered. read more

I'm absolutely impressed with the customer service here. It was beyond amazing. I locked my keys in my car and came into this place just to sit down and wait for the locksmith. I asked if it was alright and he said yes. The man who was working could tell I was a bit distressed and brought over some sample chicken for me to try. I went up to the register to buy some fries and he gave me a drink on the house too. As humans we forget that we are all going though something, and as little as some free chicken and a drink is, it really made my day and gave me some hope. Would highly recommend this place. Just not consistent. Gone here three different times. First time very delicious, second time not so good. Third time still not so good. Spokane definitely doesn't have a lot of typical places, didn't know this was a chain. Can be good just isn't always. Staff has always been friendly. Environment is small but not unwelcoming. We decided to try Ezell's on the south hill in Spokane last night. We opened the door, and a young female employee was in the eating area, doing something. No customers were in the place. When I said hello, she literally dropped what she was doing, said nothing in reply, and brushed past, perhaps agitated that customers were interrupting her work. When she arrived at the cash register, she planted a hand on her hip and literally glared at the wall to her side. At the counter, I said hello again. No eye contact from her, and no response. Nothing. We stood there. We stood there more. Nothing. She never once took her eyes from the wall. I thought about asking her what the wall did to make her so extremely disgruntled and expressively antagonistic. I said goodbye as we turned to leave. She didn't respond, but I didn't expect it, as she was most likely in a mental fist fight with the wall. Jersey Mike's was next door. It was busy, but worth the wait. They said hello! They asked what we would like to order! CRRRAAAZY! I will guarantee that the employee working last night is literally shoving money out of Ezell's door. Ya got a bad one on your hands! The food is essentially a slightly better, slightly more expensive KFC. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, the usual. There is not much you are getting here that you can't get at some fast food chain. I would rate the chicken better than most fast food places you can go. They usually give you nice full breasts of meat that are well breaded and crispy. Their "spicy" chicken really isn't very spicy and so is a bit of a disappointment. Most of the meals come with a side and a sweet bread roll. The bread roll is decent, slightly sweet, and can be eaten with or without butter. The sides vary wildly by what you order. The mac and cheese is a perfectly acceptable attempt at mac and cheese. A bit under salted, but that's easily remedied. The BBQ beans are quite nice and about what one would expect from BBQ beans at a restaurant. The biggest disappointment are the mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything about them just tastes awful. The gravy tastes like cornstarch, water, and the color brown, while the mashed potatoes are nearly flavorless, but with a disgusting texture. One of the more frustrating things is that they discourage you from making an order to pick up. I was told over the phone that it doesn't take any time for order of 4 or less. Well in the nearly 10 times I've gone to Ezell's I've had to wait for my meal to carry out. If they just took phone orders then I could pay for it and bring it home, but they don't and it makes it a less viable takeout place because of it. read more

I feel like I just wasted months of my life by not stopping here sooner. I love chicken. I'm around there all the time, shame on me. Anyway today since I had to stop by petsmart I figured I would give it a go for lunch. Walking in I was immediately greeted with a smile. There was no line so I was able to take my time trying to decide what I wanted to try. I decided on the buffalo chicken strips and Cajun fries. The cashier (who was super friendly and helpful) told me it would be a few minute wait so they can make the fries fresh. They did have some chicken in bins waiting similar to most chicken places, but not too much I would be worried about it getting dry or cold. I took the wait time to check out the place and pick up a to go menu. The restaurant was super clean but small and tidy. I definitely wouldn't "eat in" because of how small but to each their own. In less then 5 minutes I was out the door. I got home and was pleasantly surprised just from my first bite of the chicken. The chicken was tender and perfect amount of flavor. The fries were perfect. Everything was perfect. Now, I'm sure things will not always be perfect. I accept that. But I will definitely be back and hope it's as good the second time around when I try something else. read more

this opened a few days ago and i have walked in and out a couple times since but its been so BUSY! i suppose thats good for them but if it doesnt die down then they misjudged how much space they need my only real complaint is that it was so cramped and uncomfortable in there and you are constantly being moved out of the way or asking people to move. now. about the food. i got just the chicken and roll since i had the makings for side dishes at home. got an 8 piece spicy. a bit of history i have been trying for 9 years to get my immigrant husband to appreciate the ever american fried chicken dinner, but i apparently had never found the right place. last time he told me to give up and stop buying it for him. well, i read reviews on the seattle restaurant and decided to try one more time and he finally gets it with this chicken. it was really flavorful and juicy. the spicy is SPICY so have a fruit juice or milk nearby... it is crunchy and good. the rolls are warm and soft and buttery and taste like a less sweet and more yeasty kings hawaiian roll. they are good. kiddo loved em. i think this is the best fried chicken i have had in a long time if not ever. also i was happily surprised to find that a wing is actually a wing and half a breast attatched. bonus! its pretty expensive if you compare it to say, walmart, but after i thought about it... i paid almost 20 dollars for 8 pieces. now... realistically the price with tax per piece was only 2.50 and that really is not a bad price. uncooked chicken these days can be not a lot less than that. at albertsons yesterday i was looking at 13 for a whole chicken. then i would have had to butcher it and fry it... add the cost of oil and flour and then the time and horrific cleanup... bam. this is way better. and everyone liked it. more than my own. so. not so bad. plus this is the south hill, almost everything up here is spendy. its the price we pay. read more

Favorite chicken spot in Spokane. Can never go wrong with the chicken tenders and Mac N cheese. The rolls are addicting and the blue cheese dipping sauce is an original recipe (also favorite) that goes perfectly with the buffalo tenders! Friendly service and I don't know if it was the owner or manager but on one occasion I think he was interviewing someone and afterwards he took the time to walk around and make sure every customer was satisfied and happy. I had a bad experience my first visit. They were extremely busy, and I was there (all total) about 45 minutes. They had 8 people working in the back and behind the counter. I sat down to wait and wait... Watching as orders behind me received their orders. I finally asked if they had called my number yet, to which the reply was No. I then waited some more... I love their chicken, but what does that matter if I can't get any? The last three times (in as many weeks) I have eaten here, I have had to wait 20 minutes, either for chicken or a side dish. They have one product! Its not like a full menu restaurant. There is no excuse to run out, especially at dinner time! Last night the person in front of me ordered 24 pieces and wiped out their stock. Myself and the five or more people, waiting in line, were just simply out of luck, unless you wanted to wait 20-30 minutes for them to cook more. It seems to me, if you place a large order, at dinner time, (6:00 pm) you should be the one to wait. Isn't it better to have one customer wait rather than many?
