I'm profoundly sad. This was one of my favorite places for Bao. This is the third (and last) time, in a row, I have been disappointed. The recipe has changed. The Bao was saturated with mustard greens, had no hosin sauce, and the pork belly was tough. The bun itself was overly steamed and my finger punched right through it. We also had the pot stickers which had been deep (not pan) fried . They were tough to chew; literally. So sad. read more

Oh boyyyyyy. This super tiny diner is in the middle of a tiny sketch smoked out casino off the strip. Cab driver never even heard of the place as he was taking us. He even asked us if we were sure this is the right place when he dropped us off. We were meeting some friends there so we weren't really sure. But we stuck it out. Glad we did because the lady working there was so sweet and made us feel so welcome. She made recommendations off the menu and I'm glad I listened! Today we had one of the most flavorful and delicious meals in Las Vegas and at an incredible price!! This is Fat Choy inside Eureka Casino (it's a small place, but super cute and VERY CLEAN - the place was spotless.) If you've never been add it to your list - once you go it will no doubt become a place you'll want to eat at again and again!! Fat Choy was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives back in 2016 and now we know why. We had the potstickers for appetizer and they were perfectly crispy on the outside, and so good. Our main dishes were the true standouts though: I had their Fat Choy Fried Rice with shrimp and their Asian honey glaze sauce, and my hubs had the Fat Choy burger that's topped with their mouth watering slow roasted short ribs (this is the burger Guy Fieri had when he visited) and WOW!!!! I brought my son in on a whim (we were early for a doctors appointment. This small venue had just sad a large and frankly difficult party. The team there quickly push our meals out. Overall: 4.6/5 (dine in) Fat Choy is located inside Eureka Casino near the front entrance. The staff is very nice and act like they're a family. The older man really cares about building a relationship with all his patrons. The place itself looks like an old moody diner. The lighting is very warm so it's not that great for pictures but the food is great. I came on a Monday at 2 PM so it was pretty empty but a bunch of people started showing up as I dined. My food came out in ~10 minutes and was nicely presented. I really wanted to try their pork belly bao benedicts but they only serve it during breakfast which ends at 11 AM. Pork Belly Baos ($11 for 2): I read the Yelp reviews and it looks like they're known for the pork belly baos so I decided to try this in lieu of the pork belly bao benedicts. It did not disappoint and was my favorite item of the meal. The pork belly was thick, juicy, flavorful, and the right amount of meat:fat ratio. The bao was warm & soft. They were generous on the garlic topping which gave a nice crunch and added flavor. My only gripe was that they didn't put enough pickled mustard greens. That acidity would have balanced out the bao for sure. I would also recommend putting the green onions inside the baos so they can be eaten together. Fat Choy Combo Plate ($17): This plate comes with 3 types of meat - grilled chicken, kalbi, & slow roasted pork belly. The grilled chicken was pretty dry, even with the sauce drenched on top. This pork belly was drier than the one used in the bao but it was better than the chicken. The kalbi was the best of the 3 since it wasn't dry and had good flavors. The salad didn't have any dressing and some of the pieces were bad so I had to take those out. I put some Sriracha on top as my sauce or dunked it in the meat sauce. Very good food & outstanding Service at Fat Choy! We had the $6 steak and eggs breakfast at Fat Choy in Las Vegas, and I can't say enough about the quality and value of our meal. The food was very delicious--my steak was perfectly medium rare with a nice smokey char and tender. The potatoes were cooked home fries style with a crispy exterior and soft and fluffy on the inside. each dish was packed with flavor. All of the food had that comforting, homemade touch that makes you want to come back for more. What made our experience even better was the exceptional service from our waitress, Carla. She was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great meal. In fact she and the staff apologized profusely when they noticed our food order was delayed due to a computer glitch and gave us a discount for the delay. After seeing Guy Fieri rave about the pork belly bao here, I knew I couldn't leave Vegas without trying it! And it was indeed delicious. The bun was clearly freshly steamed because it was soft and springy. The pork was tender. And I really liked how the sauce paired with the peanuts and pickles. The bao was all we ordered because my friend and I were doing a little self-organized food tour and we need to pace ourselves :) But if the rest of the food here is as good as the bao, then Fat Choy is certainly worth checking out. read more

Came here per the suggestion of a coworker and Triple D. It's located inside the Eureka casino in the back right and there's free parking available. It's a nonsmoking restaurant. They accept credit cards and will bring the reader to your table. Our waiter Zach was funny and helpful. Note that if you go on a Sunday, it's brunch all day and breakfast-only until 11am. If you check in on Yelp, you can get a free dessert (which we used to avail ourselves of a red velvet cheesecake at 10am #sorrynotsorry). I got the Big Pig Sandwich, which came with potatoes on the side. We all loved those potatoes. The sandwich was large and could easily be split between two people. At time of writing this, they had a $6 steak and eggs special. My sister got the pork belly bao Benedict and my dad got the chipotle breakfast burrito. He got a little cup of salsa for $1 extra. Really great serving staff and fun environment but the food really fell short. The kitchen staff were extremely slow, the head cook had no gloves and was eating food while cooking. My fried rice wasn't really fried, it was seasoned well enough but had the texture of coming out of a rice cooker. I won't be back but I'm sure there are better items on the menu. read more

Went to this location based off a friends recommendation. I liked it right off the bat because it was off the strip and had its own parking lot. It's located inside a small casino called Eureka. We started with the Pork Belly Boas. They were soft and a nice start to the meal. We ended up getting the Sesame Noodles and a Combination Plate. All of the options looked amazing and for a random location or was a pleasant experience. It's small but a great option for a quick and inexpensive meal. Pro tip! Ever since I've come in after the YouTube reviews from Danny the Medic and Let's Eat Vegas, I've now made it my morning "go tos" for breakfast. Staff is friendly and always helpful, the place is clean and sometimes quiet or has a nice buzz of relaxed customers in conversation. I'd pick one of the $6 breakfast specials and balance my budget (yeah, I pull out my notepad do that to make use of my time out - almost a form of recreation for me as opposed to being stuck on my phone) just before lunchtime so that I can get something off the regular menu to go and eat later in the day... but get this, I usually ask for advice what to get (because there are so many good choices) and so far no disappointments! My wife stayed in the room to work on some homework that was due, and I took my sons to eat. When we arrived, I wasn't thrilled about the casino, but since I'm from Reno, it felt familiar. The ambiance inside was simple yet nicer than most diners I've been to. When we sat down, our server was attentive and helpful. My youngest son wanted "rice and bacon," and they didn't hesitate to accommodate his picky taste. I opted for the $15 Wellington special, not expecting much for that price, but always happy to have a chance to eat some Beef Wellington. It was easily one of the top 5 Wellingtons I've ever tasted, especially when considering the price. My eldest son just wanted a simple burger and was very satisfied with what he received. We also ordered a wonton soup to go so my wife could have something after she finished her schoolwork. I didn't get to try it myself, but she was delighted with it, so much so that we returned the following day for breakfast. This was our last meal during our Vegas vacation. Fat Choy has a cool story and they're now located in a small casino off the Strip. The casino nor the restaurant are fancy like some in Vegas, but this place has fantastic food and lovely servers. You do get ID checked by security upon arrival, but you can enter the restaurant without having to be of legal casino age. I came with a group of 7, and they weren't busy at the time so we easily got a table that fit us all comfortably. Our server, no name tag but a young male, was taking great care of us and was super friendly. He took drink orders as people arrived (and they have the coke freestyle machine!). When we were waiting for the other half of our party, the sweetest employee, Tammi Jo, came to us and told us we have to get the pork belly baos- they are a must and you should get your own order, people fight over them apparently! They have a special every day along with some items not stated on the menu. We were there for Wing Wednesday for 75cents each, as well as a tamale plate available every Wednesday for the month of May. They also had potstickers and wonton soup available but not on menu. For appetizers, we all shared 2 orders of the pork belly baos (4 total), shrimp tempura, 16 count wings for the special, and the pork potstickers. I'm not a bao person, but everybody in our party seemed to love them and they're a great size too, larger than most baos. Shrimp tempura came in a 5-6 piece and they were perfectly crisp and thankfully didn't have too much batter. The potstickers were great and came with a great soy based sauce. The wings of course were awesome, we ordered them medium and they were perfectly crispy, a great size and awesome buffalo flavor. For entrees, I got the chicken teriyaki bowl. It was a huge portion of food for only $10. Chicken teriyaki was great, and I loved the macaroni salad. I could've eaten that by itself and been happy. My husband got the PBBLT and he enjoyed it. Two of us got the Fat Choy burger which came with a beautifully cooked egg and the patty was super thick. The other two got the brisket grilled cheese that was featured on Guy Fieri's DDD, and they both absolutely loved it. One of us also ordered the chocolate lava cake which came with ice cream and of course it was amazing. They also had a few cheesecakes available that Tammi Jo said came from a local bakery and they looked fantastic, if only I had the room in my stomach for them. Anyway this is a fantastic place for some casual food for a good price and wonderful hospitality. Don't be put off by where it is or how it looks, please do yourself a favor and go! This place qualifies for "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" two ways... It serves awesome diner style food with an Asian spin, and it sits in a kinda "Dive-y" casino just off the strip. But hey, that's the fun of finding holes in the wall like this. When I saw that this place was featured on DDD, I pulled up the episode on my tablet. I'm glad I did, because when I got there, I didn't even need a menu. I just said, "I'll have what Guy had." First up was the pork belly bao. Pork belly was marinated in soy sauce, cooked up, and came with sauteed mustard greens, and some peanuts on top to add a crunch factor. The buns were steamed to incredibly tender, without being doughy at all. Absolutely delicious. The pork belly was tender, but not too fatty, and the marinade just made it savory, but with a tiny bit sweet. Next up was the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. Short rib, braised until it's fall-off-the-bone and shreddably tender, and then, they add an onion jam to it. Again, very savory with a tiny bit sweet. It actually reminded me of a pot roast that had been made with short rib. And then it was oooey goooey, as they used 3 kinds of cheeses to go with it.
