Fat Choy is an awesome little spot that you would never find unless you stopped by the Eureka casino. Luckily I found this place on yelp when browsing for food in the area! When you walk in it just looks like a small hole in the wall, but you will be amazed by the food and the staff. First off, the staff are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. They are very friendly, kind, easy to talk to and personable. They made sure to let us know that everything was clean and that taking these precautions were important to them. The menu was unique and different, which was a great sign for the food! I ordered the pork belly bao to start off with. It was flavorful and yummy, however, the cut of meat was mostly fat which I'm not a fan of so I didn't eat much of it. For my entrée I ordered the grilled chicken teriyaki, rice and mac salad. Boy oh boy was there flavor! This meal was absolutely incredible and man was there a lot of food. The mac was so freakin good and it paired well with the teriyaki chicken and rice! The salad had a pretty strong vinaigrette, but also went great with the meal! Everyone else in my group had nothing but great things to say about their meals as well! The portion sizes are huge and the prices are low which is awesome. Also, I didn't know that Guy Fieri had been here so this little gem of a place is definitely doing something right! And lastly, I got to use my free dessert check in offer and once again was so pleased with the service. We were told to come up to the dessert display and our waitress told us that we could choose any dessert! WOW! We decided on a huge piece of butterfinger cheesecake and devoured it within 2 minutes. Stopped in for a late night snack after the Knights game. Been here once before years ago and wanted to check it out again. The wonton soup with noodles is AMAZING! Top tier! So amazingly tasty and such a great comfort food. We also had shrimp lo mein which was extremely tasty and the bao flight (pork belly was 10/10). But the soup really got me. Wasn't expecting that to be the best thing on the menu and it blew me away. Also, shout out to the crew for having a spotless diner, super clean, smells great, and great attitudes by the whole staff despite it being 15 till midnight. Great job guys! read more

Stopped by this morning for breakfast and ordered a Chicken Fried Steak Special. Scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection, possibly the best I've ever had. Potatoes were crisp outside and very tasty. Chicken Fried Steak, again probably among some of the best I've tasted, and I've been eating them for almost 40 years. The pork belly was the best thing, perfectly seasoned crispy outer edge by juicy. The peanuts didn't know much for me. Both are a large meal alone, but I was hungry and blue and needed a quick pick me up. The Won Ton soup comes in a huge bowl brimming with veggies and pork and shrimp won tons. The broth has a deep delicious taste that I wouldn't ruin with hot sauce. The won tons are plump and bursting with yummy pork and shrimp. The Fat Choy Burger is an incredible mound of beef, brisket, onion jam, and topped with a perfectly cooked sunnyside up egg and served on a pillowy grilled bun. Perfection! So this place is supposedly where the chef's eat. Why? I get it if they want to go somewhere off the strip that's opened late. Guy Fieri left his mark here. I would agree that it is a dive. I tried the sesame noodles. Too bland for me. The Pork belly bao made up for that last dish but it was just ok. I got my choice of a free dessert which was cool. Typically I would pass up on pastries and the lava cake just looked too rich. I went with that anyway and glad I did. The look is deceiving. It's dense but moist and was a pretty good lava cake. This place is set up diner style in the back of a small casino. But do not come here if you're on a diet! The restaurant is quaint and the staff are very friendly! We asked the waitress for recommendations and she was very helpful and attentive. We got the fat choy burger which is huge, juicy, and super delicious! I never thought I'd like a fried egg on a burger but it just works! The kalbi was a suggestion so we got that and it was tasty and tender. The Chinese chicken salad is a good one if you want 'balance' in your meal, but why bother if you're already indulging!!? Amazing service thanks to Carla and another great waitress that I didn't get her name. We were greeted right away and they had a nice attitude and made us first timers feel welcomed. We ordered family style with the Bao flight, short rib grilled cheese, Xtra pork belly baos,chili cheese fries, fried rice, noodles and extra duck dumplings. We loved it all and really couldn't finish all the food split by 5 hungry people. It was presented nicely and everything was full of flavor! For dessert we all shared a generous slice of carrot cake that was moist and maybe the best carrot cake I've had. It's not a big restaurant but they had tables and booths. It was a cool little hole in the wall place that I'm glad we discovered while watching Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives. We never had to ask for a refill because Carol was on it already. Ok, from the get-go: what a weird, amazing find Fat Choy is! Simply brilliant and bizarre all at once. Let's get the location thing out of the way. Fat Choy is located inside the Eureka Casino on Sahara. Walking inside is stepping into old Las Vegas, circa 1962. Sammy Davis is at the Moulin Rouge, Frank is at the Desert Inn, and Tom Jones just sold out the Flamingo again. The wood paneling, vinyl booths, dated light fixtures, and Formica countertops have not changed. Inside it is till 60 years ago. And no, I don't mean that in some "Ruby's Diner," retro-decoration, "let's make it look vintage" sense. No. I mean, it's STILL 1962 inside Eureka and inside Fat Choy. It's in a crappy part of town on the North end, with strip joints galore lining the streets as you approach. The casino has stopped time. I would guess if you tried to count cards here, a guy name Vito in a shiny suit would break both of your legs and leave you out in the desert. Bottom line: you come here for the food and not because you're looking for some fancy Vegas vibe. If your only exposure to Vegas is the Cosmopolitan and the fountains at Belagio, you might be a little freaked out here. If you appreciate old Vegas and all the coolness it still has, you'll feel right at home here. I personally loved the vibe. Ok, let's talk food. Fat Choy was featured in Guy Fieri's mega-popular, "Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins" in 2015. The reason is because the food is epic. I mean really epic. Fat Choy is "Asian Fusion." But what they've done is to take comfort food and combine it with an Asian flair. So you'll find a grilled cheese sandwich, but it's a short-rib grilled cheese, and it's topped with an onion chutney that will blow you away and whose sweetness perfectly balanced the delectable short ribs. It's paired with fries (in an Asian restaurant? Yes!) and it is just wonderful. If nothing else, you HAVE to order the pork belly bao buns. They are the true stars of this anachronistic gem. Perfectly cooked, very fresh (because they sell so much) pork belly with crispy edges, swathed in a beautiful, sweet, brown sauce, and topped with an amazing mixture of micro greens and chopped nuts. All on top of a pillowy rice bun, perfectly steamed. It is to DIE FOR. I would drive 6 hours to eat these. I've never had anything like it anywhere. It's genius. So many amazing things to choose from here: The shrimp tempura is among the best I've had; crispy, light, and fresh. The Fat Choy burger is an avalanche of beef, short rib, oozing cheese, soft bun, amazing sauce, and is a mess and a joy to eat. The Asian dishes are all OFF THE CHARTS and you can't go wrong with any of them. To top it off, their desserts are fantastic and homemade and freshly baked. The chef is Sheridan Su, a refugee from corporate cooking who opened a food truck in 2011 and blew Las Vegas away. He moved that to this 1950's diner inside a 1960's casino, and the world took notice. This place has received a slew of awards. If you come to Vegas, do yourself a favor and get away from the artifice and corporatization of the Strip, and come to Fat Choy to revive your taste buds. 1960s comfort food married with a 1950's diner, married with some of the best Asian food you've ever had. Seeing all the reviews that Fat Choy was featured in DDD made me really curious about this place. Fat Choy is tucked in away in the smallest little casino I've ever laid my eyes on. No, really, the casino is tiny. Just a 10 steps in each direction and that's about it. You will see Fat Choy as soon as you enter. The interior was not at all what I was expecting. It has a vintage diner look to it, with big red booths and a counter table. The walls were decorate with cute little animations of Chinese things. It does smell like cigarette smoke during your dinner so if you don't like your food to taste like cigarettes, I wouldn't recommend eating here. A majority of the menu is comfort food such as burgers, baos, sandwiches, pies, etc. We received awesome service from an awesome waitress named Tanya. She was the only waitress working during the shift and she held down the fort. They have an easy credit card checkout system right at the tableside. Duck bao: 2/5 The duck meat was dry and unimpressive. The bun was also on the dry side like it was old or had been sitting out for a while. I'd skip this. Pork belly bao: 5/5 This bao was much much better! The pork belly was incredibly juicy, fatty, and flavorful. If you come here, you must try the pork belly bao. Short rib grilled cheese: 3/5 The grilled cheese was incredibly underwhelming and came with a side of even more underwhelming french fries that were very similar to McDonalds french fries- skinny and a tad soggy. The short rib was empowering and made the sandwich very salty. The grilled cheese was your average cheese sandwich. The choice of cheese quality could definitely be improved. It tasted just like the store bought Craft American cheese slices that come in that plastic packaging. Bottom line: I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. The food was a let down, but the prices were pretty reasonable. One order of bao came with two buns for $7.50. It also wasn't very crowded for a Friday night, so no long waits here! read more

Every place I visit, I make sure I try out a place on triple d as they never steer me wrong. Fat Choy was no different. It was cute little diner located off the beat and path of the always busy Las Vegas strip. We ubered there and thought we were lost as the place was tucked away and so quaint. The good news is, there was very little traffic and my friends and I basically had the place to ourselves. We ordered a few drinks from the bar because you know Vegas life. The service was nice. Our server was very cool and made sure we all got what we would love on the menu. The food came out in droves as we pretty much ordered everything. The food was great. Good flavors and variety. It was a hole in the wall with a nice vibe and great food. I would definitely go back. They have a little bit of everything so your guaranteed to find something you like.
