such a cute place wit a good amount of vegan options! started off with the garlic butter parm brussel sprouts and the sweet potato! both were sooo yum (even better when combined lol). for the mains, I got the eggplant thing which was ... interesting. the eggplant itself was crispy and crunchy but the soup/wtew it was on was ... not my fav lol. interesting flavors kinda reminded me of goulash! wish it was a little more seasoned and hot, but overall pretty good experience and i would go again! also the sweetest and friendliest server helped us and 10/10 for service and ambiance!

LOVE this place!!!! Vegan options are on point - so much flavor, and great mix of textures. Also, everything is gluten free so I didn't have a stomachache after. We got the watermelon and tomato salad (seasonal and to die for), griddled daikon radish cakes (definitely going back for these), sweet potato tostones, sweet potato poblano kugel, and sticky banana cake with rum butterscotch sauce and ginger ice cream. The kugel needed more acid - so I added lime and dipped it in the daikon radish cake sauce - that was perfect. I want to try the eggplant entre and brussel sprouts next time. They also had great non-alcoholic drinks which made me super happy bc I can't have alcohol anymore - the sparkling rose hit the spot! We ate at the bar and enjoyed talking with the bartender, Gabby - she's awesome and made good recommendations :) Can't wait to go back!

Came with a group of 5. You can feel that farm to table concept with the long tables, cozy decor plus great vibe for meeting with friends. The menu had good vegetarian options. There were a few meat/fish options as well but nothing gravitating me to that direction. The vegetarian options looked more appealing. Griddled daikon radish cakes with mushroom and scallion stir-fry... loved it! Loved the texture ! Sweet potato-poblano kugel with black bean chili, crispy shrooms, chayote, pepita-cilantro salsa and cashew crema... it was good, flavorful... the mushrooms elevated it. I'm a carnivore but would definitely come back to try some of the other vegetarian options. Good service, excellent vegetarian options make this a pretty solid option when trying to accommodate food preferences.

Went here for dinner with some friends and overall had a good experience. The service was great and the restaurant is cozy and has a unique style, and I'd say the food also had a unique style to it. We started off with the Firefly seed loaf with yummy spread, which was honestly delicious, but I felt it was a bit overpriced. We then had the Coconut curried summer squash and crimson lentil soup with plum chutney. This was a pretty basic lentil soup, but would pass on it and try something else next time. We also had the Japanese sweet potato tostones with citrus gjnger glaze. This was by far my favorite thing I had here and can't recommend it enough. The potatos were cooked perfectly and the flavors were out of this world. Sooo good! For the main I had the Furikake crusted ocean trout with cool tahini-miso rice noodle salad, garlicky baby bok choy and chili crisp. This was really good and full of unique flavors. Would definitely recommend. Overall a nice option if you're looking for a new, unique place to dine.

I've been dining here for years, though infrequently. I had to stop eating gluten in 2008, and Firefky has consistently provided a delightfully inclusive dining experience. It is such a relief to not have to stress about cross-contamination or folks not being educated about what is safe and what isn't. I've always loved the fried chicken, though on my most recently visit thoroughly enjoyed the moqueca, especially with the paired hot sauce. My friend and I also left no crumbs with the radish cakes and English pea pancakes. As someone who doesn't imbibe alcohol, I also appreciate their myriad non-alcoholic options. The outdoor dining area was a bit windy, even with the heat lamps; apparently we could have asked for blankets, which we only realized after other patrons had left, revealing the provided blankets. I'm still grateful for the option so I can unmask, as there were several small children in the main dining room, which presents more of a health risk than I'm comfortable taking.

I want to give this place a 5 but they fell short in one regard - we made a reservation well in advance and still had to wait 25 mins for our table. The kitchen was appropriately timed for apps but too slow for entrees. Our overall turn took about 2.5 hours. With that, food was excellent! I got the Moqueca Baiana, which was something new/unique I've never tried. Delicious, especially paired with salsa which our runner recommended. My party also got the fried chicken, the quinoa stuffed squash, and Furikake trout. All of it was delicious - everyone loved it! I also didn't mention all of this is gluten free. Our apps were sooo good. We got baked mac n cheese, the cheese buns, and sweet potato tostones. Baked Mac had a great crunch, cheese buns had such a good seasoning on the outside and were incredibly fluffy and tostones were fried with perfect texture. We also got dessert which I failed to take a photo of. Lots of good GF options!! Loved the key lime pie. Loved the brownie paired with Frosted Flakes and ice cream! Our server was really good, he was friendly, had good recommendations, and knowledgeable. The price here is what I would expect for quality and service. No issues there! Again, love the menu and service here. However the kitchen was just too slow. I would try it again because enjoyed the menu.

Crazy good! I really don't like driving into the city and was really hesitant to try Firefly. My friend took me here for a belated birthday dinner and wow. First off, it's upper noe so easier to park and not hectic at all. We made an early reservation on a Saturday and got seated quickly. It was a relaxed atmosphere - be sure to allow plenty of time for your meal. We shared the coconut curried summer squash and crimson lentil soup and we both agreed that this was our favorite dish and would come back just for that. We were surprised that they served it in two bowls for us to each have our own. We had this with the Sweet corn pancakes with chili mayo. For our main course we each got the fried chicken - my friend's least favorite was the horseradish slaw (she doesn't like onions and there were a few big pieces that were pretty potent). The chicken is a drum and thigh, I really liked the mashed potatoes and gravy. We both enjoyed the gluten free cornbread too. I had the lemonade and it was nice and fresh. We couldn't resist dessert and each had the sticky banana cake (we should have shared one!), along with cups of decaf coffee. We agreed that we will come back and have more lentil soup and some salad. Made this celiac girl very happy!

In town for work, and chose to meet here for dinner with a friend. It's nots a big place, but it's cozy. The service was great; waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and answered questions we had about the menu. Cheesy buns were to die for. If I were traveling I would totally have gotten some to go for my husband. All the food was good, overall. The smore dessert was pretty tasty.

Never disappointing, it's hard to get past the starters. Creative spreads on crusty or gooey bread. The fried chicken is not to be missed and the trout is light and flavorful. Meatloaf reminds me of mom 's. Such accommodating servers. Thoughtful, pleasant, available but not hovering. We adore this place for its fresh food, innovative take on old favorites and moderately priced wine list.

Firefly is our family's favorite spot in Noe Valley! Their seasonal menu is always rotating with tried and true favorites like the lamb and fried chicken remaining the same. It's a cozy ambiance and the staff are always friendly! Will keep coming back!

Veg bouliallabase with risotto croquettes. It was very good!
    Sarah T.

This place was great! The salad were really A+. We had one with kale and a miso dressing and another that had lots of blue cheese. I'm both cases the flavors and textures were spot on. The serving size was large-- enough to share or you could do solo as a main course For our mains we had a vegetarian bouliabase and I thought it was very clever that they made something so flavorful. Two in our party had meatloaf and it was good with ok polenta. Finally one had fried chicken with gluten free cornbread. The chicken was of and cornbread too dry However, even though there were some misses overall flavors and textures were thoughtful and good and now I know the best types of dishes to order here. If you are vegetarian or vegan or gluten free diner, this place is a must visit. But if you have no allergies it's still great! Bathroom: grade A! Single serve non gendered. Clean. Cute decor. Music. Feminine products gratis Service was very attentive. Thank you.

Will there be a Passover menu this year?

Great question to call them about!

Would you take your 4 year old here?

I would not take a small child to this restaurant. It's very small and tight seating and more of a neighborhood adult type spot. Just the vibe I got while there.

High ratings, few reviews, but we were adventurous and decided to try it, glad we did. Ingredients is on a corner, looked relatively new from the outside LED "Open" sign prominent in the window. Once we walked in, however, we entered a different world from what we were expecting. Luxurious mustard seats, lots of tables for four, seating with high gray bench banquettes, reminding me of a 70s tune ("Diamonds in the back..."); retro vibe elegantly done with modern lighting and sconces. Not cheesy by any stretch, but in a neighborhood place you could wear sweats or a suit to eat at. Our waiter was Jackie, an enthusiastic young man who seemed like he wasn't just there to wait on tables. Throughout the evening he was easy to chat with while being knowledgeable about his food he served without being condescending. He made someone unfamiliar with the menu feel new-to-us dishes weren't going to be an experiment. We ordered the beet salad, the 8 ounce hamburger with fries, the mushroom risotto, and on Jackie's recommendation the Nepal BBQ ribs. In the meantime they served us house made brioche buns-warm, soft, delicate and chewy, flaky; reminded me of Texas Roadhouse buns, but far better. Served with a little olive oil and balsamic in a separated dish, you could eat them plain and enjoy the craftsmanship of baked excellence. We wanted more but in retrospect we would've been filled up with brioche and not enjoyed the meal. Tough choice. The roasted beet salad, served with shaved fennel, a beet balsamic jus, and an apple-citrus slaw that was fresh, sweet with hints of citrus offset by the fennel so it wasn't cloyingly sweet. The textures were enjoyable-the softness of the beets with the crunch of the fennel slaw, we anxiously cleaned the plate! Next came the risotto and the burger. What was enjoyable was the mushroom risotto-a refreshing presentation of toothsome Arborio, creamy yet firm, interplaying with a variety of mushrooms that immediately became one of the better risotto we've had, texturally excellent, not one note like most risotto, it came out hot but not searing; deft hands created a concoction that kept us going back for more. The burger was simple, cooked medium, but one of the best we've had in a very long time. We should qualify the burger as a cheeseburger as we were given a choice- bleu cheese or cheddar, we chose the bleu cheese and it was a good choice, just the right amount complimenting the veggies that came with burger. Oh, the fries-skinny, perfectly fried they stayed equally crunchy from first to last, served in a mini fry basket that was cute but it also showed they meant business, these fries were better than that Irish fast food place, and aren't they the iconic standard of French fries? IMO Ingredients is now the new standard. They were served with house made ketchup, excellent with or without. The ribs came last originally accompanied by a Mac and cheese but since we ordered risotto they served the ribs separately with a slaw. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone, but a little more savory than sweet , served with just enough sauce to accompany the ribs without being messy, easy enough to eat using knife and fork, the kicker was a hint of five spice, subtle enough if it's in your background, but not an annoyance if it's not. Flavorful, hearty, filling, delicious, We ended our meal with a homemade "apple pie," a creation made of thinly sliced apples, perhaps poached, with cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, along with fresh fruit, and a yummy scoop of "creamy"mango sorbet. Lots of surprising good vibes-no crust, all apple, not heavy; the mix of spices played well with each other; mango sorbet wasn't icy like sorbets tend to be, the fresh fruits added a touch of freshness to the dish that could have been sweet-centric, but not. A delicate yet satisfying end to a delicious meal. We met the chef, Sok, at the end of our meal, who had his culinary training n Kathmandu and expanded his repertoire in his world travels. He definitely knows how to elevate a good meal, and his Nepal and French influences add an understated flair to what he cooks. Sok takes tremendous pride in what he presents to the diner, evidenced by who he hires, and how each dish is presented. Dining in Ingredients is gratifying, from the dining room to the staff to the dishes themselves. More people should give Ingredients a try, a gem of a neighborhood find, a rarity in SF! Thank you so much, we have a new favorite restaurant!

By sheer luck, my birthday coincided with the 4-course for $45 promotion they were running for their 10-year anniversary. I had to jump at the opportunity, especially since the menu was built from the all time favorite items at the restaurant since their opening. I really couldn't think of a better way to experience a restaurant for the first time. While some set course meals have a few misses, this one was just hit after hit the entire way through. I really felt as if every course was complimentary, but different enough in their own way to stand on their own and make an impact. Tldr: the food was amazing! The icing on the cake (figuratively and literally) was just how far they went out of their way to make my birthday night special. Exceptional service, bringing out a complimentary dessert with a candle, and even leaving a personalized card elevated this experience to the next level. Would highly recommend paying Trestle a visit, and I can't wait for the next time I'm able to try their new menus myself!

Can no longer recommend for special night…read more My husband and I came here a number of times probably 8-10 years ago. We always had a really great dining experience but after moving further away and having kids, we never found our way back until recently. Having nostalgia and taking advantage of being child free, we came here for my birthday. While we were greated with great friendliness by the female hostess and even handed a nice little happy birthday card/note, the mood was pretty quickly killed. Our waiter (an Asian male) literally dropped off the menu and asked for our water order with zero conversation. I took regular still water and my husband asked for sparkling water. We waited quite a while watching him exchange pleasantries with the table next to us (a group of 4) and even the other table of two on our other side. I could see the dining room from my seat and noticed that the tables of people who arrived before and after us all has their drinks - some with cokes and other with wine. My husband after maybe 5-10 minutes still had no water. When the waiter finally came back to us, he said in the most curt tone I have experience at a restaurant - tell me your whole order now. I interjected saying, excuse me my husband has not even received his water yet. He seemed annoyed at my response and just said, your water will come out with your food. What kind of response was that? It was not apologetic and almost accusatory that I dated ask. I told him that I'm seeing everyone else served their drinks, water seems like a bare minimum request after all our wait. He continued to be pretty rude. Never explained the menu or made any recommendations. Just "ok". It was a really unpleasant birthday dinner. We told ourselves maybe he has some spectrum qualities, but based on his interactions with the table next to us that didn't seem like a plausible excuse. Service aside, the food pacing was so fast. It felt like there was no time to enjoy the meal because once they took one plate away it seemed like the next course was immediately served. Overall the meal was satisfactory, but I don't think we'll ever be coming back at this point with so many other options in the city. We felt really unwelcomed by the service for whatever reason.

To start, I requested if we could be accommodated at a booth instead not the tables in the entrance, host said they couldn't do that for our party size of 8, which I understood completely at first. But when I went to the bathroom which is in the back of the restaurant, there was a similar group size in the booth area, so that threw me off. Second, we had ordered appetizers, two different salads. When I asked where was the other salad since we only received one, the server said that I didn't order it, I was talking to my friends about the salad not to them, but if I wanted to order it now, they would put the order in. Several people at my table had to process the bizarre response. My demeanor did change completely after that.I got a "bday shot" moments after that incident, it felt like a save face moment. If it wasn't for my friends and honestly placing our food orders I would have left after the appetizers were brought out. I think I would have had a different experience and review with another server. I'm hesitant to give this place another chance. It is a restaurant on the pricier side which is fine, but that means there should be a higher quality of service provided than other less expensive restaurants.

WHAT WE GOT: duck egg shakshuka, salmon crudo, bread & butter, tagliatelle, grilled broccoli, apricot tart PROS: good lord the flavor of some of these dishes was insanely good and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. my favorite of the night was probably the shakshuka, but that's just cause i'm a tomato gal and i love a good dippable dish. the grilled broccoli was also super lemony which balanced out the heaviness of the tagliatelle nicely and complimented it nicely. service was top notch, our table was literally never dirty because of how often they came by to clear things away or wipe things down. overall good experience. CONS: now ok...once again i know this is san francisco but if i'm paying $21 for a shakshuka, i'm expecting it to be at least enough food to feed maybe 4 people. imagine my surprise when this dish came out and the shakshuka was sitting in a bowl that was about the size of a candle jar lid....and like 2 pieces of bread. i'm sorry for $21????? that's criminal. as good as all the food was, NOPA felt like a one time deal for me because i quite literally can't justify the price to portion size ratio. also it was so incredibly loud in there, i could barely hear my husband talk from across the table. those tables are packed TIGHT.

WOW!!! We made reservations after a day in Golden Gate Park through the RESY app…read more We were hoping for a good easy dinner before heading back to Petaluma. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and were greeted and seated within 5 minutes. The menu is reasonable and had good offerings. Both my husband and I opted for the Price Fixe 4 course dinner which was more of a tasting menu, $55.00 per person and absolutely delicious it started with a generous salad, a cup of ginger carrot soup, choice of entree and chocolate chip cookies with tahitisn vanilla milk for desert. We both had the NY steak . Every bite was delicious. We were very content but I will add if you have a large appetite you might be better ordering off the main menu. Great service, delicious food and a cozy dining room with a fireplace. We both agreed we can't wait to go back!

First off, the actual restaurant and the fireplace were so cute, very romantic and love the dim lighting. The service was also incredible. The servers and host were fabulous and attentive, and I got to meet the owner, and he was so kind. Bonus that the owner seemed like he enjoys being on the ground working with the people; and loved that he complimented me and my date. Cocktails were fabulous and very creative; probably one of the few nice cocktail bars out in the Richmond district. The food was very flavorful. My date got the steak and that was cooked with very nicely, although I think it could have use a little more chimichurri. But I got the prime rib bolognese pasta (I think that's what it was called) and that tasted so good; not as heavy as I thought it was going to be. We shared their ahi tuna, which tasted so fresh, and the dessert we got was decent (I'm not totally big on super sweet desserts but this was fine). Overall, I highly recommend coming here, and I plan on coming back as well.

The staff here was incredibly nice and helped us pick between some options we were thinking about on the menu. The food here was delicious and we were both surprised how much we liked all the entrees. I went with the paella with mussels and it was one of the better paellas I've had in California. We'll definitely be back.

Sure, sometimes it's nice to visit a lesser-known restaurant in hopes of finding a hidden gem, but the reality is -- any eatery worth Yelping about is being Yelped about. Every part of dinner further solidified Memento's status as a one-and-done deal. The mocktail we ordered was so syrupy thick, it needed watering down before we could drink it. Paella with sausage had a thin layer of crisp rice. Oddly enough, the tomatoey elements coupled with the type of sausage used reminded me of pizza. My bf reported that the steak in his surf & turf was undercooked & had a "funny" flavor. 'Nough said. As much as we'd like to support a neighborhood restaurant, it cannot be at the expense of good flavors & basic cooking techniques.
