Wow this place was definitely my favorite stop for food on our trip so far. First of all the woman who sat us and also ended up being our waitress was so friendly and funny, she had a great attitude! The menu had a ton of super healthy options and even a few fresh juice choices. I ended up getting the Parma Hash Scramble and one carrot cake pancake. Both were on point with fresh ingredients and fantastic flavors. If I lived in Knoxville this I would definitely be a regular at this place. The interior is beautifully decorated with a sort of a modern farmhouse look. Lots of up-cycled wood, mixed with cozy half couch half table like booths. Despite all the glowing reviews, we left First Watch highly disappointed. The short of it all: cold, over cooked food & a server who didn't seem to care. The story: After being seated by the hostess (who was the only shining star here) we proceeded to watch two additional tables be seated and then promptly attended to and served by different servers. We eventually asked for our server when the hostess seated a third table; the server then arrived without a greeting, smile, or apology for the wait, simply asking what we wanted. We then were served our food from a different server & the food left plenty to be desired. Overcooked eggs which were supposed to be "over easy" and were more fried or over hard than anything & an unseasoned omelet: The dressed greens tasted fine but a lot of the lettuce was wilted, rotting and past it's restaurant servable life span. We ended up finishing nothing & eventually our plates were cleared by our server with no comment. We went to see the hostess without our bill & she then was able to get us some compensation for the meal which was very kind of her. read more

First Watch is a pretty good brunch spot. They have a wide selection of brunch yumminess to choose from. My favorite is the florentine eggs benedict - soooo good. The one downside is that they can get pretty busy, which means longer wait times to get a table and your food. read more

Menus pass through many sets of hands throughout the course of a day, and each hand leaves behind some of the germs it's collected along the way. Restaurants usually throw away dirty or damaged menus. Not First Watch! They cut them into squares & put them ON YOUR PLATE beneath soup bowls! I removed it from my plate, turned it over & found a dirty foot print on the back side! OMG!! Can't believe they have gotten past a an inspection doing this. No one wants a nasty germ-laden menu on their plate. Food is decent but usually arrives cold when it finally gets to the table. I used the First Watch app to get in line, checked in with host (manager) when I arrived. My app said I was next in line ... kept going to the stand while table after table was seated before me. After standing 17 minutes I asked what was going on. Manager said "Oops, I forgot to check you in" & acted as if nothing happened. This is the 2ND time this has happened. After scouring reviews for local brunch spots, I decided on First Watch and enjoyed everything about my experience! Very friendly staff - lots of them - and was checked on every few minutes (not overly attentive & not too infrequent either). My waitress mentioned partway through that she was in training -- best part, I had no clue! She was thorough and sweet and gave recommendations as though she had been working there for years. Nice atmosphere in and outside! I came in on a Wed at ~1050am - was about halfway full, but busier as I was heading out around 1130. Great feel of busy-ness/energy but not a stressful one - just efficiency. I was seated immediately outside on the patio (nice in the shade with/without umbrellas) with coffee offered/provided immediately while drink order was taken, ordered food when drink received (within ~2 mins), and food arrived within 15 mins (not nearly as long as some previous reviewers had mentioned). I was not hurried out & enjoyed a relaxing meal outside. I ordered "pick two" with tomato basil soup & roast beef/Havarti sandwich -- on perfectly crusted sourdough with creamy horseradish dipping sauce (yummmm), greens, & (sundried?) tomatoes! Soup paired well with the sandwich - creamy (not lumpy like a bisque) with pieces of fresh tomato and basil! Tasted as though they had just made the soup right before serving it - the basil was not too cooked into the soup, very light/fresh taste! Also made for another good dipping sauce. Sorry, forgot to take a pic of my food as I was too far into devouring it. :) The pick two option ended up being the perfect brunch/lunch portion for a midday meal. Total bill came to $15 including a specialty fruit drink (just me) - reasonable. All in all I have only good things to say about First Watch! We had breakfast around 11:15-11:30 on Thursday, I have your app in my phone so I made a reservation for the max number allowed within the app of 6 people. We had a large party of 10 so when we got there I let the host know and he immediately got us all fixed up. He gave us 3 different table options and was such a pleasure talking to, so thank you. For the price, it's not worth it. The food was tasty, but not extraordinary. The wait time was a little on the high side, but that was to be expected on the weekend. What I cannot forgive is the service. Our server seemed intent on avoiding eye contact with us. His dealings with us were brief, cold, and bored. On a busy day it would be understandable, but the worst part is that we could see him in the kitchen messing with the other servers. This guy was literally sneaking up on them, tapping them on the opposite shoulder, etc. all while we were trying to get his attention. What, only 2 stars? Well, I'll return and probably do an up-dated review with higher rating. Pros: Interior design is awesome. I especially loved the tabletops, reclaimed wood with clear acrylic filling the checks, splits and knot holes. Modern rustic scene. Wide open seating. Beautiful! Sliding barn door to kitchen. Very nice. The food is really good and they have a unique menu. The specials are excellent and so creative. Specialty breakfast drinks are so yummy too. Now.... Cons: It was my birthday and my wife took me here for a special birthday breakfast. It was extremely crowded being a Saturday morning. We had trouble finding parking. There is additional parking in back. Even though it was busy, we were seated right away. We were greeted quickly but then, oh, my God! We had to wait to get drinks. So when you get water, you get a small carafe of warm water, small glasses and no ice. Strange. Then we ordered. It was literally over an hour getting our food. I finally flagged down our waitress and had her check on our food. She brought it immediately. How long had it been sitting under the heat lamps? After all this, there was a line to pay and leave. We sat there waiting for the line to go away. It never did. I finally got in line and waited at least 15 minutes to pay. What the heck is going on? How frustrating! I'm pretty laid back but I was pretty angry by this point. It ruined the entire experience. The whole process took right at 2 hours! Additionally, it was LOUD. The wide open floor plan and all the hard surfaces made it sound like a elementary school cafeteria. I didn't realize how loud until I FINALLY exited. Holy Cow it was loud in there! It would have been an excellent meal in beautiful surroundings, but 2 hours for breakfast? I'll return during a slower time, maybe when they are just opening and revise this review. read more
