Stopped in while browsing around LES and was drawn by the adorable exterior! It's definitely French inspired and has some sidewalk seating with only a few small bar seats inside. It doesn't seem like a spot where they encourage you to hang out, so keep that in mind. I tried the Victoria Sponge Cake ($11 a slice), which was so light and fluffy. Not too sweet as well! All of their cakes looked delicious and are regularly switched out. They also had mini cake versions, but they weren't displayed when I was there, so I didn't know until afterwards. I stopped by for a chocolate chip cookie they're usually sold out but today was my lucky day. It was the last one. My only discrepancy is that it was salty like a pretzel and the chocolate chips weren't evenly portioned. Maybe the last cookie had a bunch of salt fall on it because it was at the bottom of the jar but the chocolate chips for sure weren't even and it was one third sugar cookie, one third chocolate, one third salt. And really--the cakes are good enough to stand on their own. This was one of the best carrot cakes I've had in a while. The cake was moist, light, and tender in crumb. The cream cheese frosting had a satisfying tang and a delicate whipped texture. My husband and I were fighting each other for spoonfuls of this. We seriously could not stop eating it. And while some carrot cakes can leave you feeling too full, this one never felt heavy. Unlike the cakes, the chocolate chip cookie though was really disappointing. The decorations on the cake slices themselves were beautiful, especially the earl gray cake with the rose on it. My favorite was the earl gray cake with jam (I think it was blackberry). The tartness and sweetness of the cake went well together. The lemon olive oil cake was also good, but it came in second for me. I did not have the chocolate coffee slice (just because I'm not a fan of coffee), but I was told it was delicious. The people behind the counter were nice and helpful. The store itself was a small space with some seats by the window and outside, so we took our slices to-go and they held up well. It was a very cute space, though, and I could see how it's a nice place to stop and enjoy a slice on a sunny day.
